Dyabman's post is the most interesting thing I have ever read on this thread

Usually the vocabulary veers towards pillock-spew-desert eagles and such nonsense.

What rubbish has been spewed(as much as i hate the word) on this thread.

Proffer solutions my ass. angry angry angry angry

I am reminded of a character in Chinua Achebe's Anthills of the Savannah.
He, a journalist was asked why all he did was criticise the government rather
than provide solutions. He 'profoundly' replied, I am here to give headaches not to give solutions

Firstly, politicians deserve all the flak they get, because they make outrageous promises e.g One of the
top 20 industrialised nations by the year 2020. Is it not fair that we make outrageous demands in return?

Secondly, no one forced him to take the job. Politicians volunteer for office. So he is essentially at our beck and call.

Thirdly, haven't we been at this juncture before. Give him time they say, he has eight years, its only been a year
On and on it goes, before you know it eight years go by, and nothing is done. Another politician arrives for his eight years
with his same round of promises, and his pleas for time to actualise the perfunctory x-point agenda.

Fourthly, this man has set some worrying precedent in his previous incarnation as governor. He left 6 billion naira
in the coffers in Katsina shocked shocked shocked Like Jeez, are you for real Mon.  there is no way a government in Nigeria should have
a surplus with the state of things. Deficits galore I tell you. The criteria for our politicians should not be how frugal they
are with money, but how efficiently they spend money. How effectively the infrastructure is built up etc. not how much
is left under his bed when all is said and done.

The government of this country is flush with money like never before. Even better than the good old days of the early seventies
It will not last forever. Those oil prices will succumb to gravity sooner rather than later.

So it is essential that we let the critics loose, if not for anything, but to shake this government out of its stupor

@Cristalz

If your replies are anything to go by, I think you are way more perspicacious on the United thread cheesy tongue wink

And I have never seen a worse profile pic in my life angry shocked

Politics › Re: Should We Be Preparing For President Jonathan? by doyin13(op): 7:20pm On May 28, 2008
Many of you have expressed your doubts over a Jonathan Presidency,
but with the cloud hanging over the President's health, surely it is not out of the question.

And as vice president, the reins of government would be handed to him.

@Dis Guy

It is not because the Delta can't produce a worthy President, but a reference to the monopoly of power
by the three major tribes.

Politics › Re: Should We Be Preparing For President Jonathan? by doyin13(op): 1:14pm On May 28, 2008
Hmmm. . . .

What do you think of Jonathan as President then?

Considering, he has not/never actually contested an election as the frontrunner, yet might occupy a presidential post.

I think it would be one way to get a Niger Deltan into the top post. They have no chance otherwise.

well the rotational policy is also used in Switzerland. A mature democracy

that foul by Fisher was so blatant, it was unreal. But I give the Spurs props for being big about it.

My hatred for them has diminished a little for that reason. But I still want the Lakers to finish the job.

By the way folks, you 'd better enjoy the Western Conference finals. It will get so much worse in the NBA finals
if the Eastern Conference series is anything to go by.

The Celtics and Pistons play butt ugly basketball. So ugly they might scare the Western conference champion
away for a victory.
Politics › Should We Be Preparing For President Jonathan? by doyin13(op): 12:41pm On May 28, 2008
I know this is veering towards the macabre, but with all these rumors about Yaradua's health
I think it is pertinent.

How would Goodluck Jonathan be perceived as President of the Federation in the event of such an occurence?

Would it assuage some of the militants in the Delta?

What does it portend for the rotational policy of political posts? Would the North argue that their time in office
has not been fully exhausted etc.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Or Manchester United, Whose Cup? by doyin13(m): 10:22pm On May 21, 2008
i wasn't expecting much

but they played a good final.

Each side had their moments. a draw probably fair.

I look round United and i don't see many natural dead ballers.

That is probably a cue that they will win. LOL

yes 9ja, United have been the better team

but chelsea have matchwinners all over the field.

The game can go either way. On a knife edge for real.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by doyin13(m): 8:33pm On May 21, 2008
Chelsea simply have some matchwinners bwoy.

They have been largely outplayed but they can just pop up with a goal from nowhere.

Some men are so insecure, and your man's own stems from his previous experiences.

If you really love him, and those good times are like with no one else, then I suggest you stay the course
and slowly win his trust as his old relationships recede into distant memory.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by doyin13(m): 4:07pm On May 07, 2008
I jus hope for all ya sakes, you lot beat Wigan.

United Fans sound like they are Shook to be honest. All these stats. to reassure themselves.

Chelsea are not under any pressure. They were meant to come third after all behind the Arses and Scummies.

So, winning the title will be, frankly, a bonus.

hehehehehe. . . .the penalty eh

All the commentators including the respected Andy Gray felt there was a case to be anwered.

He was at least '12 yards' away so he could put his hands away.

And as per the team selection. . . .I bet if United had pulled out a victory, Fergie would have been hailed a genius.

It still is United's to lose I agree. . . . .Chelsea lost any chance at the title after that draw at Wigan.

And I suspect they won't win out anyway.
