You cannot legislate such perceived moral corruptions away.

Enforcing it for one will only raise more problems.

And the ubiquity of 'spraying' points to its popularity- - - - - -it might be on the back burner for a while
but as soon as legislative attention shifts to another cultural arena. . . it will make a comeback.

And I don't understand for the life of me why KSA cannot be allowed to make what is, as far as I can tell
a harmless comment on a piece of law.

Politics › Nigerian Architecture:a Protest by doyin13(op): 2:02pm On Feb 17, 2008
Its been a while since I have been in Naija, but I have been horrified by
the ghastly edifices which some people choose to reside in, if these Nollywood
movies are a true reflection of what is going on.

The latest fad seems to be having columns, colonnades, even caryatids framing
buildings, inspired by Graeco Roman classical architecture I guess. Prior to my exile
the fad were this abhorrent buildings where the new ones tried to outdo the old in
how many ridiculous angles they can inflict on their structures.

Residential buildings ooo.

But they are crazy. I think it is vulgar, crass and ultimately bush.

Architects around the world often draw inspiration form strands around the world
but not at the expense of a 'locale' identity. . . .so for example the Gherkin in London,
which has something of an Asian influence still has some relation with the historically
dominant St. Paul's Cathedral. . .

Besides this departures or aberrations in some cases, are diversons from what is a
consistent theme that is historically grounded.

It is this lack of historical perspective in our buildings that rankles with me.

Where are the buildings that point to the thatch roof and adaptable clay/mud walls
our ancestors used to live in the South. . .or the reenactment of the fantastic architectural
bequest in Kano?

Abeg does anyone feel this strongly about Nigerian Architecture . . . .Please comment.

Eduardo is starting on the left. . . . .so Arsenal actually have a 5 man midfield just like Utd.Its not Wenger's fault, its the selected players lack of hunger and desire compared to their Utd counterparts
well the lack of hunger is certainly a factor. . .five man midfield my yansh

i know United will get excited over this victory. . .

But I think two aspects of this game are responsible for the score.

The tactical game. . .having three against two in midfield is really telling on the game.
Ferguson is simply better tactically than Wenger. . .I have been aware of that for ages now

The two full backs of Arsenal are out of their depths. . . while United have their full defence available.

Besides that. . .this game is tailored for Rooney. . .On the break he is astute, strong and quick.

And Anderson surprises me with his physical strength. . .Una sure say he no dey take THG. na wa ooo
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by doyin13(m): 7:02pm On Feb 16, 2008
I just think this match highlights Arsene Wenger's tactical deficiencies.

He thinks too one dimensionally. . .

They are simply being overrun in midfield where United have one extra player.

Having Bendtner and Eduardo together is simply a luxury they cannot afford.

They lose the ball in the overmatched midfield and get exposed on the break where United
are breaking at speed.

He should have Hleb in midfield instead with Berto and Fabregas and then bring someone on the wing.

A couple were hard up. . . .and they both decide the way out of their financial difficulties
was for the wifey to turn tricks.

So he drives her to a corner, and a customer soon arrives

the haggling begins

he asks how much for the full shebang-------------she says 200 dollars

he says he can't afford that . . . .so he asks for a Mouth Action service. . .she tells him it will cost 70 dollars.

he seals the deal and they head for his car.

He whips out his jimmie and she stares hard at it. . .

she excuses herself for a mo , and heads back to where her hussy is at.

She tells him,'honey you need to borrow that guy 200 dollars'

Literature › Literary Ambition Over Entertainment by doyin13(op): 2:06am On Feb 16, 2008
I read a book recently, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, quite ambius, had me thinking all the way through how clever

and what an achievement it was to link five different stories across five different time periods

from the first tale in the mid nineteenth century through the twentieth to a starwars future

and a post apocalyptic reenactment of the beginning. . .

It wasn't really philosophical in any way, at least the way i like my books, but it was an impressive

feat of writing bordering on scholarship.

That was frankly the thought that egged me on through the book.

it sagged in the middle terribly and after the fact i realised the connections between the tales
was not hermetic, in fact quite loose.

Such ambition and enterprise is also evident in Yinn Martell's Life of Pi.

The author sets up a good yarn, a boy gets caught up on a life boat

with a tiger, an orangutang, a zebra in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

His tale of survival involves all of 300 paperback pages.

Needless to say. . .it sags in the middle no be small

When you get over how clever the author must be to think up such a scenario

and write a book of such length with such limited material. . .you quickly find boredom

it is a relief when you get to the last page.
