Indeed U hv spoken well. Amaechi may not be as bad as the Discussants are painting him. Apart from the Promising Administration of Chief Rufus Ada George aborted by Abacha prematuredly, no other Administration can be compared with Amaechi in all democratic settings in Rivers State so far. How would anyone explain the case of Governor Amaechi of Rivers State who became Governor by DIVINE INTERVENTION OF GOD and the help of JUDICIARY but has now transformed himself to “IDI AMIN” of Rivers State?



Governor Amaechi in the last five years has been demolishing the houses of his perceived political enemies in Port Harcourt without respect to the rule of law and even orders of court in the disguise of urban renewal programme. Even his own cousin, Sir Celestine Omehia a former Governor of Rivers State, was not spared as his property situated along Elelenwo street in GRA Phase II, Port Harcourt was destroyed by Governor Amaechi in 2007.





On Thursday January 10, 2013, Amaechi “the Idi Amin” of Rivers State dispatched officials of Rivers State Ministry of Lands and Survey led by Mr. Ezemonye Ezekiel Amadi, the Commissioner and members of Joint Military Task Force (JTF) attached to Government House Port Harcourt, to PARAGON HOTELS LIMITED situated along Rumuolumeni Road in Obio/Akpor LGA. The purpose of the visit was to forcefully acquire the hotel and demolish same to build primary school because the owner of the hotel, High Chief Jerome Eke (aka Igolo 1 of Etche land) is perceived as a strong supporter of Senator George Sekibo for 2015 Governorship Election in Rivers State.



In the same vein, officials of the State Ministry of Lands and Survey in company of heavy security personnel were also on Thursday 10th January, 2013 dispatched to KRISDERA HOTEL in Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area to demolish the hotel. The hotel is owned by a former Chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon. Felix Obuah (aka GOROUND). Amaechi alleged that GOROUND is in Federal High Court Abuja with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to claim his mandate as the rightful chairman of PDP in Rivers State and that Hon. Obuah is also opposing his decision to impose a chairmanship candidate, Mr Austin Ahiamadu on the people of ONELGA in the forth coming Local Government election.



On Tuesday 1st January, 2013, Governor Amaechi the “powerful Chairman of Nigerian Governor’s Forum” sacked his Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon Emeka Worgu for associating politically with a serving Minister from the state.



On Wednesday January 9, 2013; Amaechi summoned the 23 Local Government Chairmen in the state and their deputies to a meeting in Government House and ordered them to arrest anybody holding any kind of political meeting in their respective Local Government Areas and charge such persons to court as “cultist”. This is Amaechi’s crude and barbaric strategy to clamp down on anybody perceived as opposed to his political agenda come 2015. He also informed them that he has directed the security operatives in the State to cooperate with the Local Government Chairmen to stamp out opposition in the state.



Governor Amaechi instructed PDP Executive Committee members from the eight Local Government Areas in the Rivers East Senatorial District to reject Christmas gift (rice) given to them for Xmas Celebration by Sen. George Sekibo. The Governor alleged that Senator Sekibo wants to contest as Governor of Rivers State in 2015 general elections. So any politician in the state that associates with Sen. Sekibo will be dealt with summarily.



Amaechi removed the elected chairman of Okirika Local Government Council from office and appointed a sole administrator for the council without recourse to the State House of Assembly.



On the 9th of January, 2012, Amaechi suspended from office eleven elected Local Government Chairmen for not attending the state monthly inter-governmental meeting. He also accused the affected chairmen of travelling to Abuja to hold a political meeting against his administration with a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.



Between September and October 2012, Governor Amaechi, “the Idi Amin” of Rivers State also withheld statutory monthly allocation due three Local Government Areas in the state (ie Eleme, Ikwerre and Obio/Akpor LGAs respectively) without intimating the council chairmen of the reasons for his actions. Spyker: OMG, Rivers State has become more insecure than it ever is. Assassinations has become the order of the day especially this tenure. Every week, there is a news of either attempted assassination or assassination without one person being arrested or detained or even charged to court yet we have a Governor who never stays in office, keeps flying from one country to the other. He is currently in South Africa enjoying while people are killed on a daily basis.

I know the man who was murdered. He was a peace loving man and my Principal in Baptist High School. I feel very sad because the list of people assassinated in Rivers State is worse than ever. Only God will save us now.

Amechi wants to leave PDP because he has a court case that is likely to annul his election. Since his ticket under PDP is not certain he is looking for a platform to contest or threaten to destroy PDP so they can ensure him of a ticket to re-contest under PDP.
