komekn: If Ighalo was playing in Seria A he would be scoring goals if he was in the moi moi Segunda he would be the top goal scorer.
To compare Sadiq with Ighalo is abuse and lack of respect. Respect doesn't win you games. With all the respect Kanu and Okocha command in Nigeria, you should probably call them back to come lead our attack in the world cup. Please someone should screenshot all these comments so that in one or two years time when Sadiq is top of La Liga scoring charts, he won't be able to pull of his legendary "here and now" line like he did for Osimhen. |

Mujtahida: Osimhen yes, Ighalo no. He's had his time. It gets to the point where you have to rest it or be rested as a player for the NT. Ighalo has gotten to that point. He's not better than any of our present forwards including Sadiq. Rohr invited him out of retirement for the Cape Verde match and he was atrocious. I did not see you going on at him for his awful display that as you have been carrying on about Sadiq. Please tell him. Sadiq performed better in 20 mins against Egypt than Ighalo did in an almost full game against Cape Verde. Sadiq pressed four defenders alone and was on hand to tap in the two Ejuke attacks. Ighalo looked totally unfit in that Cape Verde game. He looked like an ex-footballer that was invited for a charity game. |

komekn: The top goal scorer in the Swedish league is a 26 year old Nigerian.
But somehow not a mention of him Samuel Adegbenro here he has 17 goals in the league this season and counting. However, there is lot of talk about Amoo, who has not done as much as him..
The double standard and favouritism is not even hidden. Adegbenro is 26 I think. Amoo is 19. It is not just about being top scorer, else anyone who is not a CF wouldn’t win player of the season. It is about the impact you have on the team. |

safarigirl: Do you have any example of any country doing this at a tournament or is Liverpool football club your only example?
I'm of the belief that certain drills may not be possible in tournament situations due to shortage of time, as opposed to when the team has been playing or will be playing for an extended period of time It is not learning a different game o. Just incorporating a small and simple drill to help them with decision making in counterattacking situations. A 30-min drill like that per training day could be the difference between 1-0 and 3-0 like we saw against Egypt. |

Since I have been watching SE training clips, I have not seen us do specialized training sessions except maybe for set-pieces.
Liverpool for example holds training sessions only on counterattacking or only on one-on-one finishing. Training sessions on targeted qualities will definitely increase our efficiency on those qualities going into the games to come. |

JohnBullMySon: Who else saw that Ronaldo like finish from Gabon to equalize
I never understand why Ghana dey fight sef. The goal was a 419 goal. The number 8 Kyereh went down injured, Ghana player kicked the ball out of play. Normally, the opposing team will throw to the team that had the ball as sportsmanship. However, Gabon resumed like nothing happened and tried to use the confusion to start a counter attack and score, which they did. The Gabon coach gave the instruction, that was why Andre Ayew went after him once the game ended. Also the goal happened so late in the game that it was impossible for Ghana to respond. |

Senegal with their Rohr 2.0 coach are positively playing nonsense.
Guinea have just been lacking quality in key areas, else they would be winning. Not everyone in the team is a Keita or even a Bayo or a Moriba. |

komekn: The only striker that is doing well this season in the squad is Awoniyi in the context of good quality.
Maybe I am not that informed please tell me the others .
And because I am highlighting the quality of Ighalo does not mean I am insulting Awoniyi.
I actually have met him and think very highly of him , very good professional really good young man. Dennis is doing well in your beloved EPL. Onuachu is doing extremely well at Genk, virtually a goal a game. Sadiq is doing well in Segunda, he has the highest goal contributions in the league. Osimhen was doing very well until he got injured and is set to continue where he stopped as soon as he attains full recovery. |

komekn: You are loosing all sense of rationaity and clutching at delusional straws.
You are using the assumptive projection to contend with the factual. That will not work, you should know that , balance of probabilities, is not fact but speculative.
Fact Ighalo was the AFCON highest goal scorer Awoniyi, Sadiq, Onyekuru, even KC and Osimhen may or may not ever become one. How many of Ighalo's goals that made him the highest goal scorer were due to abilities he has that our current strikers don't? Is it the penalty he scored against Algeria or the poke into an empty net he had against Tunisia? The only goal out of the 5 he scored that I can really coomend him for was the cool finish in the Burundi game. The Aboubakar you are using to hype and further your agenda, how many goals did he score using superior striking ability? Out of the 4 he has, two were penalties, one was a free header and the last was a tap in. He is not the best or even second best player in Cameroon's attack. |

safarigirl: They did not dominate anything bro, Equatorial Guinea looked more dangerous each time. At a point, I was wondering what happened to CIV's midfield.
Edu troubled them, that other guy that looks like Vidal troubled them as well, Haller was doing appearing and disappearing act, somebody did not even notice Zaha's presence. I'm not sure I can correctly identify Equatorial Guinea's goalie right now, but I can identify CIVs own, based solely on the amount of times I had to see him yesterday. Maduka will be so jealous of the screentime that man got. That was mostly the ending of the first half to the beginning of the second half. Watch the first and last 20 minutes and see how many clear cut chances Ivory Coast wasted. |

Eventually, they did not even play all that well. The Equatorial Guineans played better, just with poor end product Nope. Ivory Coast dominated that game. They were just momentarily shaky at the back. Ivory Coast looked dangerous anytime they came forward, but it was almost as if the game was fixed. No one wanted to score. |

TheGoodJoe:
I disagree. It is just fine to six games remaining. The guys need to master the system and use all opportunity they can. So I say the coach plays his strongest lineup. Don't underrate any team. Secure qualification for the next round first. Then use the next game as a preparation for the next round.
Changes should only come when injuries and fatigue comes to play. Team management. If you wait for your key players to get injured and fatigued before making changes, you will not have the players to execute the more difficult games. Remember, after the group stage it only gets worse. If you don’t rest Aribo enough and he picks up a muscle injury in the round of 16, how do we prosecute the tournament? I saw we play long term rather than short term. Introduce more players into the system as early as possible so they can fill in for each other seamlessly when needed. Injuries are inevitable, yesterday we had 2. The aim is to reduce injuries to a level where it cannot impact our play significantly, and we can only do this through proper team rotation. |

Next game, I would say we send most of our starting lineup to the bench to rest them against future games. We should be able to dispatch Sudan without our starting 11. I think a front three of Ejuke-Sadiq-Simon should do the job. Onyeka should play alongside Nwakali or Aribo. Ndidi is indispensable. Backline too should not change, with Ajayi replacing Omeruo if necessary. |

bazooka1: Loosing the ball means getting dispossessed. In other words, you claimed he was dispossessed by the Egyptians 19times. At that rate, it means he lost the ball practically everytime he touched it. You went ahead to count shots and crosses as getting dispossessed. For real, you should have a word with yourself bro. Loosing the ball means turning over possession, even if only temporarily. Wayward crosses and shots count. For example the cross leading to the goal counted as possession lost because the Egypt defender cleared the ball, even if it eventually landed at Aribo. |

forgiveness: Did you watch the replay? There was no way he could have turned back and poke in the rebound because he was not in the position the keeper saved the ball. If he stood in the same position alert when the ball rebounded, he would have got to it first. The time he was using to celebrate, he would have used it to finish the job then celebrate. |

Make we sef dey find pk. Its like this afcon have pk giftings in the bag. Aina should have bought a pk with that counter attack he had in the 2nd half. We need to practice on these things. Have Counterattack drills with specific players because it seems we will use it a lot in the tournament. |

bazooka1: Moses Simon lost the ball 19 times yesterday? I would like to know who compiled those stats. Do you know what loosing the ball 19 times mean? A ten year old kid will struggle real hard to loose the ball that number of times in a game against Real Madrid. This false representation of stats speaks volume of your real motive. Count all the wayward shots and crosses, combined with the few times his dribbles were unsuccessful. Yes, it was 19. |

Iwobi was free for that last attack. Dunno why many were even saying the defenders closed him down. He was behind them. Iwobi was behind Ejuke too. Only very few players have the awareness to look behind them during a goal-scoring opportunity. |

Nacho is too heavy... He is not mobile enough. His stamina too is poor.
His first touch naturally is not bad, but when he gets tired it becomes a disaster. He is now not mobile enough to recover after a poor first touch. Guy is a liability after 60+ mins in a game.
However his best attributes are just so good. His shooting is one of the best I have ever seen, even Awoniyi commented that Nacho is one of the best shooters in the history of Nigerian football. Once he gets the ball on his left foot anywhere near the penalty area, with little space he will miss maybe 1 or 2 in 5. Just get him a slimmer of a chance. |

Simon had a good game..
No assist..
But his darting run had a great contribution to the goal.. Simon had a good game but was very unproductive. All flash and flair but breaks down when it really matters. Also why is no one bashing Simon for not squaring the ball in the first half after Aribo laid it on a plate? Why is no one criticizing Chukwueze for such a poor game by him? |
