@ Henrimoto lol. I'm quite interested in knowing your title in the palace. I suspect it may be something like 'Mr. Bean of the palace'. To your question. They don't sell gala here. What I meant is that anyone found wanting in the realm of their medical checks in these parts is sent back to Nigeria ASAP. I was referring to how things are hawked right from around the international airport road. From that point, the person starts to hear things like "buy gala! buy gala!", "Pure water tutu re!" etc. . @ Ogakpatakpata You got my drift ![]() |
@ Snowj Tell ur contact to correct it especially if u are a 1st timer. Nigerians get more scrutinized now for many reasons. It's better for u to be on the safe side. If it was before now & u have 1 or 2 stamps on ur passport, I would've said u can head down straight. I know ur contact may say it doesn't matter so u may have to really pester him. Do anything to get it done. All the best |
@ Ogakpatakpata Very well said sir. These guys don't joke with medical stuff at all. Any slight trace of something they don't want to see, it's "buy gala, buy gala" the person will start hearing. lol @ Snowj Thanks sir. My first question on this issue is, was the visa print out given to you or you have actually checked from the Qatar Ministry of Interior website yourself with the visa number? It's hard (if ever possible) to fake a Qatar visa 'cos anyone can simply go online to their website and punch in the visa number for confirmation. If you have confirmed the visa yourself on their website then there is really no major problem with it in the sense that it confirms the visa is real and all the necessary details of the person are with the Qatar government. You can insist that the person that did your visa make the correction at the immigration office through the company that issued the visa. Doesn't take more than 1 to 3 days thereabout to correct depending on the day of the week the complaint is filed with them. I hope this answers your question. The pidgin might have made me miss anything you wanted me to explain so feel free to ask if I missed out anything. I'd reply with any information I have on it. |
mr.drizzy:I was so pissed off when I saw the prices. They are not serious at all. Does it even have a memory expansion slot? I read conflicting reports on that aspect |
justi4jesu: Okay no problem i wont make him head for the desert...Very good. lol ![]() ogakpatakpata: @Dr.Dre.....l have been persuaded not to go to the desert by the palace chiefs and security, so, l have decided to shelve it for now...lolzNice choice especially with this heat level and fasting ![]() devmilz: Pls I need some one to put my through on how to acquire Qatar visa and working permit.... My igwe nd chiefs plz help me out ... God bless all of youI will advice to you try and do a thorough medical examination of yourself if you can afford it. I've seen quite a number of people sent back to Nigeria for failing the medical tests here. I'm not saying you are not healthy enough o. Have your chest region examined by a good doctor. Do an x-ray if you can afford it. About the visa itself, the only way to get the work visa is by getting from a company. Unfortunately, many companies don't really recruit from Nigeria so it's usually 'arranged' through a company then when you get in here, you go job hunting. That's the major reason why agents (both here and in Nigeria) have a field day extorting people anyhow. I hope you have thought it through before coming to this decision. Try and read my earlier posts some few pages back if you haven't. You can ask question on any area you're not clear about. All the best. |
Those prices are just plain silly. Han han! Google needs to be reminded that very soon, chinese makers will duplicate many of the functions that makes the phone unique. It's just a matter of time. They should ask Samsung. I suspect that producing the phone in the U.S might have pushed their production costs up than normal. |
@ Henrimoto Hahahahaha...please tell me u are a comedian in the real world. @ Ogakpatakpata Before u set out on ur trip into the desert, remember we are in heat season. Alfaza will probably 'rescue' u before u spend a full day. @ Justi4Jesu Please o. Don't make Ogakpatakpata head for the desert o. @ Samee7 Thanks for the welcome. Have a fruitful time at work |
NaijaHotGuy: jiayu g4 adv and neo n003 adv are expected to b out this month. hopefully at least one wilJiayu G4 advance is out. ![]() |
@ Yinkagbo, blaze007 & Justi4jesu Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I'm just trying to contribute the little I know. About 2 years ago when I started plans to come here, my first port of call for info was Nairaland. I just believed that I'd get something reliable here. Lo & behold, there was nothing! I was quite disappointed. So to discover this thread gave me joy 'cos I know many people would be trying to source for info & would check here. @ Henrimoto Thanks sir. U sir, are quite a funny man. Brought back memories when there was so much originality in the Hip Hop world. So much has changed since then. Thanks for the warm welcome. Together, we can 'di-mystify' the process of getting many things done. @ Ogakpatakpata Thanks. I'm sure u have seen & heard ur fair share of cases of the GOD-factor & destiny angle. Welldone sir. GOD bless us all. Amen |
mr.drizzy:Ok...I don't even know what to say anymore. How do we get this phone? My slate just got wiped clean. Hope I won't have to break the bank. Technology is wicked ![]() |
People have the 5 years visa without an employment letter 'cos the person isn't employed in the real sense of it. The visa is issued for the person by the company based on an 'arrangement' to bring the person into the country. I'm sure u get my drift. Allow me to stop here for now. Apologies if I didn't address any of the questions u rasied or any other errors. Posted from my phone at work so had distractions here & there. |
As regards the job situation in Qatar. There are still quite a lot of opportunities here. People get jobs based on links from friends, newspaper adverts, etc. People also advertise themselves in newspapers & potential employers call them in for interviews/assessment. I personally got an offer of about 110k with very good accomodation & transportation within less than 2 months of getting here although I didn't take the offer eventually. It doesn't work out for everyone like that but Nigerians are still quite regarded well here. The sad truth however is that some Nigerians are shooting themselves in the leg by their actions/activities. There are many Nigerians in the construction industry working as safety officers, foremen, technicians, etc. There are a number of courses people use to build themselves up for some of these positions. Overall, we must also consider the GOD-factor in the scheme of things. I don't mean to 'sound' religious but there are cases that u would just accept that it's nothing but the work of the Supreme GOD. |
Getting offers from Nigeria is hard 'cos of certain reasons. They don't need to stress themselves employing from Nigeria 'cos they have more than enough here already to call in for interviews, assessments, etc. Also, it saves employers the cost of air tickets & visa issues that may be incurred if they're bringing in the person from Nigeria. Another reason is that it's more expensive to employ Nigerians in terms of wages. What an average Nigerian would demand as wages from a potential employer may be enough to pay 2 to 4 (or more) persons of another country like India or Nepal. That said, when a company wants to recruit people from Nigeria, the offer isn't usually good but the Nigerians won't know until they get here & discover other people are earning double or multiples of what they are getting with the same or better potentials. That's when trouble starts because they can't leave the company until after the agreed number of months which is usually at least 24 months. After the 24 months, some companies won't even allow them to stay if they don't want to continue working for them. |
@ Ogakpatakpata I won't advice people to come here with a visit visa for so many reasons. 1. It doesn't really make financial sense. A visit visa which is single entry & valid for 6 months can cost around 150k to 250k or more through agents although what the government charges is less than that by miles. The 5 years visa costs between 350k to 450k depending on the visa status & the company doing it. Agents reading this will be mad with me lol *tongue out*. Some agents in Nigeria charge around 500k so if u look at the difference, a visit visa doesn't worth it. 2. A visit visa hinders the job hunt. It's illegal to work with it so any company that wants to offer the person a job would prefer having documents that can be presented to the authorities. Even if the company is extremely interested in employing the person, they may not have Nigerian visas allotted to them so there's nothing they can do. If the person however has the 5 years work visa from another company, a 6 months release document can just be easily processed by the 2 companies (the company that did the person's visa & the interested employer). 3. With the visit visa, even if the person gets a job offer & a work visa is to be processed by the intending employer, the person will still have to leave the country and re-enter with a new work visa. By the time u add up the costs of the initial visit visa, flight tickets for the 1st & 2nd trip, it really makes the visit visa a bad financial option when compared with the cost of getting a 5 years work permit visa |
mr.drizzy:Just did a quick check on it. Pls give more details especially as regards the pricing & specs. Thanks |
fiscalcliff: This Jiayu peeps seem to run on snail fuelThese guys are just wicked. The suspense on the S1 is killing enough & they putting word out on S2? I'm hoping the S1 will start shipping in a month or two so that at least by Dec I can try & get a copy. Don't think I'd want to get tempted by this S2 'cos that would take 'ages' to get lol. By the way, the G4 Turbo version is out. |
julicoka: maccoka nice meeting u i ve got itMs Coker, greetings @ Maccoka Greetings I trust u guys are doing good. |
@ Ogakpatakpata Thanks sir. U are welcomed anytime. Will gladly contribute my '2 cents' to the best of my abilities. @ Emamos Thanks for the warm welcome sir. Keep up the good work. @ Goodtalk Thanks sir. Chieftancy title & name? Hahaha. I had to hide somewhere while reading ur post before people start thinking otherwise. Congrats on ur baby sir. May GOD bless & keep u & ur family. May the arrival of the baby bring u & ur family immense abundance & joy. Regards to madam & the baby too |
*hands over bottled cow milk box to Ogakpatakpata* The job situation here is alright. Just like some other middle-east nations, we have to contend with indians, pakis, philipinos, etc. Despite all that, Nigerians still have upper hand in certain fields. We have our level of intelligence & 'good' english working for us in a way. Unfortunately, these same qualities are abused by some Nigerians. For anybody planning to come down here, there are 2 honest questions that should be asked (amongst others) 1. What thing of value do I have to offer as a person? 2. Am I ready to develop myself? To be honest, some Nigerians have no business being here. Some got here by accident through the web of deception of some agents. I'd stop there on that for now. As regards the visa, the best route is getting the 5 years work visa yourself. Visit or tourist visa will always limit what can be achieved. Every company's aim is to make as much profit as possible so if they claim they are coming to Nigeria to recruit & pay for air tickets, be sure they'd end up paying peanuts as salaries. Sorry if my submission is not well arranged. The whole thing is quite wide to address in a post. I'd be glad to shed more light where required. |
ogakpatakpata: yah.......are u based in Dubai?.......because am just seeing your post for the first time in this kingdom, and we need to formally welcome you, but , you got to bring a calabash of fresh palm wine to the council of chiefs and elders in the palace.....lolzLol... Although I visit Nairaland everyday, I just discovered the thread today. I'm based in Doha. Just like to keep a low profile & read quietly around the 'land'. Nairaland of many years ago is slightly different from what we have now so I'm happy to be drawn out by such a nice thread as this. As for the palm wine & calabash thing for the elders, erm...erm...that's impossible to get here o. I can arrange fresh cow milk in white kegs. It's white like palm wine lol |
ogakpatakpata: @Dr.Dre...welcome to the kingdom of peace and Justice...Thanks Ogakpatakpata lol. I'm really happy with the way wicked agents are being bursted here. So many of them here rubbishing Nigeria's image in collaboration with their evil associates in Nigeria. I'm even told they now run radio adverts for Qatar visa. ![]() |
Justwise et al, keep up the good work How I've missed discovering this thread before now is quite embarrassing lol. With such selfless efforts as this, those 'bloodsucking' agents in Nigeria (especially) would be taught serious lessons. *sets up camp* ![]() |
balogunsam: 60,000 naira sirThanks sir. Is the 60k for the M9 or the M9 Pro? |
mr.drizzy:There must be a mix up somewhere 'cos all the sites I checked said 720p. I meant to say FHD in my previous post. Haven't seen any specs sheet with the ppi count. Whichever the case, it doesn't change the fact that the device will be nice. |
mr.drizzy:This Nubia mini is quite a stunner. I've had the S1 & M3 within my radar for a long time. Now this is really tempting 'cos it looks more beautiful than the S1 at least...and it's already available. Although I wish they made the screen HD, I'm sure it will not have a negative effect. All these chinese guys...don't they do something else with their lives?! |
mr.drizzy:Mr. Drizzy, why did u have to do this? U know the torture Jiayu & Xiaomi are giving people already. Chei! What will I do now o |
Good day sir. Quite interested in the Pipo Max9. I've been trying to compare it with the Cube before now. Nice to see there's a FHD version now. Do you have a link to it on any site where it is being sold? I've tried to checked around briefly but seems it's your type that keeps coming up. Thanks |
@ Balogunsam Good day sir. How much will it cost to get the Pipo Max9 you got for Fiscalcliff? There is also a newer version with FHD and in-built 3G. How much will it cost to get that too? Thanks |
@ Mr. Drizzy Now I get what u mean fully. So the Jiayu S1 would be a better choice overall going by ur analysis. Ok good. Speaking of my 820, USPS is still tossing the thing around. I'm so tired of waiting already & it seems it may take about 15 days more. |
mr.drizzy:I get ur drift to a certain extent. Xiaomi has limited support online? Maybe u shuld explain wat u mean by that pls. In all, if they make the Mi3 like the leaked photo with the illuminating logo at the back, then I don't think I'd be strong enough to resist the temptation o. I'd get a good excuse to buy the 2 lol |
fiscalcliff: For those still interested in the Jiayu S1Ok...just when I thought the wait will be over soon. It's now obvious I may not be getting any of the two until december / january. One day, I hope to hold the two phones in my hands. Jiayu & Xiaomi, why una dey torment 'us' ontop of our money like this? |
BizBloke: [color=#000033]Want to buy THL (different models), Zopo, Jiayu, NEO, UMI?Mr. Bizbloke, if I pre-order let's say the Jiayu S1, when will I get it? Also can u help get Xaomi M3? Lastly, are u willing to ship to another location outside Nigeria? |
