Truth is that some people are just always filled with envy and bitter feelings towards anyone they perceive are doing better than them. I love that many diaspora Igbos now see investing in Igboland as something worth doing unlike in the past when they ran away like there were evil spirits in Igboland chasing them away from investing in whatever way. If it's houses some like to build, let them build! I prefer people coming to invest in power generation (Captive power) used for just one city or one industrial complex. Build solar panel factories so that houses and businesses can generate power independent of the grid. But for now the people coming in want to build houses to address the housing crisis.

Our people are gradually seeing the need to have something in their home state than having 200% of their investment outside and not even 1% of their investment at home. Therefore, it is good that some are building at home now. At the minimum, it creates jobs for the youths that will sell the cement, the rods, those that will be brick-layers, carpenters, plumbers etc.

With time, those of them with factories will begin to relocate too. The big disadvantage the SE contends with is lack of power allocated on the national grid to SE. It won't even sustain just the factories in Emene, not to mention Onitsha, Aba and other areas. Therefore, there is need to build industrial clusters with mini-power generating outfits to serve them. This is where the various state governments need to be proactive to get licences for these companies and just ask the private companies to build the infrastructure and manage the selling of electricity to industrial complexes in the zones to help them manufacture competitively.

I quite appreciate your thoughts... I'm currently writing a curiculum for someone who wants to learn web development. He was surprised when he saw CS50 (Harvard's Intro to Computer Science) in there. He was puzzled. I also included the Fundamentals of Programming learning track by Lynda. Dude didn't understand why he has to learn all these first.

My point: most people just want to learn a programming language. Tell them to learn language independent principles first and they won't understand. But for those who learn those principles, picking up a language is like taking a walk in the park. And every web developer (at least those that follow the yearly StackOverflow survey) know that JavaScript is taking over.

I'm bout to start searching for them remote jobs or internships so if you get info on any, kindly give me a heads up. Thanks

Let's unite and think of what each of the five south eastern state could do and been known for. Enugu is known as the entertainment hub in the south east and has produced several movie actors and musicians; Anambra known as the commercial hub in the south with cities like Nnewi popularly known as the "Japan of Africa." and Onitsha having the largest market in west Africa not forgetting Awka, the state capital with thriving real estate market; Ebonyi known for agriculture and extraction; Aba known for Apparel and can be tagged, "Paris of Africa," we are still yet to know what IMO is known for. If we can consolidate on all these we can build a thriving South east region.

If you research well, you will find out that those companies importing generators are mostly owned by those pot belly governors and senators. Imagine a country where having constant electricity in a place like banana island is a luxury.

Nigeria is not generating up to 11,000MW boss, It was broadcasted on media the first day of the year by APC(the ruling party) that Nigeria is now generating 7000MW, 2weeks after minister of works, housing and power said our MW has dropped back to 5,000MW when there is no regular power supply as usual(I mean our normal 4hrs per day ooo)

Pls if you are living in chicago, also know some parts are very dangerous to walk(assume chicago is dangerous to be safe) during odd hours. He was even asking me if they had toy guns or if they can shot him for real if he resisted.

What have we done with being the most educated when we are not using the educated to expand our economy? Just yesterday, igbo doctors from the USA came to Anambra to offer free surgery for those who can't pay for surgery. These doctors if we build a robust system can be used to create a big medical system that will serve Nigeria and Africa.

The problem with these governors is that, they want to have everything in their state not knowing that the east can be richer than Nigeria if each state in the east specializes on 3-4 industries. Just do those things well and let's watch the economy expand.

We are too blinded by the shortcomings of our country that it has made us to stop thinking. With increase in population, different state government will soon start introducing policies that will only cater for their own people and relegating us to the background. They have started, you will soon see it.

We need to act fast, igboland have over 50million people market strong. Bigger than what Lagos can offer within a short time but we keep complaining. The only thing we have better than other people is smartness, let us be smarter than them please.

More reason South Easterners in diaspora should always consider coming back home to invest since we posses sound minds to managa those investment.

Afam4eva is a very smart person. Seriously, this is one guy that is speaking a very great amount of sense here.

We have government that only pays salary and repair roads. Nothing daring or smart coming from them. Nothing to look uo to. Lagos is building eko Atlantic, Kano is building Kano economic city, etc. The east is just known to complete the Nigeria state to be 36. We don't offer anything and we are not known for anything.

Who greenery help? Who fine house help? We should tell ourselves the truth. We should choose projects that will make further investments enter the region. We should design our economic template to have meaning.

Seriously, nobody in the east has gotten anything right. Just playing ball in circles.

A least the easterners are the most educated people in Nigeria. What we need is a prospective blueprint.

True that, my neighbor that was robbed has 2 giant shepherds, from the discussion l had with him during my visit to Nigeria, it seems he was robbed via information through people who were doing some renovation in his house, they provided all the info to the robbers that later came to rob him, that is the only clue he said that might have happened but he has changed his security now via his guard dogs that looks like monsters, once the dog is barking at night, I hear it from one of my properties that is 3mins walk away from his house

l think I am impressed with his dogs, anytime l finally decide to ever live permanently in Nigeria, l don't mind to have a minimum of 6 to 10 German Shepherd roaming where I sleep, let me see the criminal that will come into my premises

I strategically purchased a Naija used 2002 4Runner, fit the purpose perfectly as intended. I also drive a Nissan Micra taxi which makes for interesting conversation at police checkpoints and driving past taxi parks (owo mi da crew)

A bottle of acid to the wall and a little kick/tap will give an unfettered access to the compound. Hollow blocks make things a lot easier. I prefer guard dogs and motion detectors. These high fences keep away burglars and thieves but not the kind of criminals most Nigerians worry about.
I guess it gives people a false sense of security.

Why do you have to build such high fences with barbed wire, no trees or grass, and now some are talking about electric fences .that sounds like hell if you have to go through such security measures just a for a simple middle class duplex . It's not like its a 30,000 sqft mega mansion.
Plus,Nigeria is a new market and there should be some architectural innovation,not the same old boring colonial methods.

I think the government should enact building codes with strict safety measures. High fences only encourages curiosity of the armed robbers. there would be less armed robbery if all homes have low fences and if people don't keep money at home . I read someone talking about unearthing a skeleton of a goat in a house and all of that voodoo stuff, man what a stone age mentality .

I dont think low fences will keep away arm robbers but the beauty of the house will likely attact them. I f a house is well painted will beautiful colors especially in an average neighborhood, the robbers will be believe the owner must be rich but when not painted or not so beautiful, it will likely attract less attention.
