Please breakdown how you arrived at your installation and accessories, budget 150k to 200k
Is it small or too expensive?

What is your Charging Voltage, Bulk, and Float needs to be 14.6V so you can see max power!
Also, set the max charging current to the Highest possible for solar, its 80A as I recall.
Its a valto coupled lithium battery so using 14v as float and bulk. Increased the solar to 60 but yet to get up to half at peak sun period. Still running the battery through its paces though, lowest av gone is 70%

Dam5reey1:
You can do up to 0.5C which translated 0.5*104, that is 52A.

Charging the solar, CC or hybrid I set to max 52A.

Charging with Grid I only do 0.2C max which is 21A
Why 20amps with PHCN? Wont that slowly charge it?

This will largely depend on battery size and SOC.
With NEPA, I av seen around 50A then the BMS throttle it
On solar alone, I av seen around 20+
Yeah, i get the full complement with NEPA. My concern is with solar. 20amps looks small from ur 2000watts panel

On my SMS with 12v battery, I have seen btw 950 to 1000w on my 2000w panel before these rain season starts. My panels are not top grade either.
I believe what could be your issues are either or some of the followings:
The rain weather,
Roof inclination,
Battery state of charge/load demand, and
Not reaching around the nominal operating voltage of 240v.
I always thought my nominal voltage was 120. Just confirmed its 240v.
What's the max watts u av seen go into ur battery at this output?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 8:31pm On Jun 10, 2024
Good evening house. So want to get a clarification. I use the sms hybrid 2kva12v inverter paired to 5 fake 300w panels (learnt my lessons here already).
The max panel input i get is around 550w and if no load on, only abt 200 to 300w going into the battery. Had a bad battery so thought that was the reason for the reduced solar charging but i just upgraded to a 12v lithium battery and its still the same thing. Yet when i power a heavy appliance like my baby's sterilizer, av gotten close to 750w from the panels.
My question is why don't i get that constantly as that would help my battery charge faster. The battery charges well with NEPA but with them bringing my meter soon, not sure i want to incur heavy bills. Thanks in advance
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Drgreatone: 8:23pm On Jun 10, 2024
Change ur installer sir.
Dont think there is any 7.5kva felicity inverter that runs on 24v. You sud be looking at a 48v system minimum and go the lithium battery way rather than tubular to help with space/current draw

The powmr was my initial setup which I have reserved as backup, so it's not in use presently.
My solar panels is 2000w total connected in series.
My battery is lithium 12v/300ah and it was not full when I have noticed this issue and when I switched off and on back, normal charging continues. This only with solar charge and never with NEPA supply.
No shadow cast over the panels though the inclination is off, "na send down the rain roof".
All these started recently, the inverter was purchased in July 2023 but installed in March 2024.
Just inquisitive, what type of lithium battery are u using? Av u tried using it with a different battery to see if it does the same thing. Cud also be a problem with the inbuilt mppt which wud require taking it to the service center and it repaired under warranty since u stull av this mth before it expires.

Good morning guys, please am in a kind of issue with my SMS hybrid inverter as am experiencing that the inverter goes to sleep often these days. Most of the time I have to do like hard reset by switching off the breaker between the inverter and solar panels if not it just stay below 30v but when I do the reset, the input panel voltage goes to 240+.
Those using this type of inverter, are you experiencing same or it's just my inverter.
I also noticed that when I switched the breaker to off, it hiss like when a drink gas out when you open the cover.
I have also swapped breaker and it's still the same experience.
Please note that all these started lately..
I NEED EXPERT OPINIONS OR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
Contact SMS for repairs as they av a service center @alaba. Curious though, what's the size of ur panels and ow are they connected? Any item casting shadows on ur panels. Whats the battery type/size and the voltage when u notice the 30v? Could also be ur battery's full and no load on.
Seeing a powmr charger, is it also connected to same system?

Hello guys!

I'd like to get a 5kva inverter. Btw Felicity, Growatt and Mercury hybrid inverter, which would you recommend that can work with a cworth 7kwh lithium battery?
Felicity I know gives 5yrs warranty, I hear no stories asked. Dunno abt the others.
Sako is also coming up and gives 3yrs warranty
Sms sef dey okay, 1 year warranty and seeing as they av a repair center at Alaba and respond promptly to fixing a faulty inverter from my personal experience.

Omo...these steep roofs(send down the rain roofs) are really bad for solar generation.
These past few weeks, my battery has barely charged past 45 to 50%. Something that gets to 100% b4 2pm before now. It's seems the sun direction has changed. Now it currently favours North on my roof while my panels are facing south.
The solution now is an expensive solution. I need to install new panels facing north and buy a new charge controller and cables sad

By the way, who sells growatt 120A charge controller. I need one for this upgrade.

Between , hope my lithium battery not charging to 100% daily won't affect it?.
Same thing I am facing and once complained about here. My own is why the consensus that panels must face south seeing as rhe sun isnt constant and always moving about.

The repairer has fixed the Felicity controller and he gave me 1kva inverter to be using first pending when he finished fixing my inverter, I have installed everything myself but I noticed this on my battery, the acid level on my battery gauge has gone down just for this few days I didn't charge the battery, I want to know if I can top up with distilled water at this level
Lolz, ur indicator is still higher than some of us own for here 😁😁😁

You bought a fake Schneider, that place with Schneider name is removable. Try moving it sideways and it'll come out grin. I talked about the fake breaker here.

https://www.nairaland.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta/1346#120371763

I'll advice you look for Chint product to buy. It's around 7k to 16k depends on where you source from.
Chint only has AC components, not seen a dc part in my short RE journey. Dcs are basically hager, Schneider, tomzn I know abt.

3 300watts panel, VOC is abt 39v all connected in series. Max I av gotten with it is abt 350watts. (Max amps like 3 to 3.5 from Isc of abt 9 and Volt is abt 110v). Feel I should be getting better yield though but guess that's the system limitation
So took me a while but concluded that what i have were relabelled 300w panels. Max I av gotten under load was 140w per panel and falls back to 110w at peak sun exposure. Guess that's why i wasnt really an advocate for the mppt part of the inverter. Hoping to do an upgrade of the panels soon and then give report on its performance

The battery is a 220ah tubular battery. I don't use the battery below 50%, so it's usually almost full b4 I use it. As I chat with u now, I'm using the inverter to power an 8kg washing machine of 360w. It still baffles me that it gives that short circuit warning only when I plug the freezer of 105w and fridge of 55w.

Every other things work normal, TV, chandelier, laptop, washing machine, etc. Only the fridge and freezer that the inverter gets to throw that warning.
With what's happened to ne recently. The shortcircuit u had cud av bin from ur battery and not as a result of the inverter. What was ur eventual decision on the upgrade?

I av come again gurus, I have a 12v 1kva hybrid afripower inverter(spec is pwm wit max volt, current and panel as 25v,25a and 600w resp) which i mainly use to power lights and TV. Was working towards adding 600w solar panel wit seperate CC just so I can add my freezer to it. Today I decided to just plug the freezer to the inverter today to even see if it would carry it and voila inverter tripped off showing shortcircuit and then later overload. This inverter usually carries it if utility is available but this one it failed wit just the dc, what do I do? Would connecting the panels directly to the inverter help instead of using CC or do i av to get a bigger inverter? Freezer is haier thermocool 200l wit input current at 180watts
Update: So ended up getting a 2kva hybrid inverter early this year cos i needed my freezer powered which those ffl my story wud know. Still kept this inverter as back up and yesterday mistakenly put on the freezer on it and it powered it after a single beep. Turns out it was the fmr battery that cudnt carry my freezer. Now I av 2 inverters capable of carrying my freezer. Tempted to sell it but wit the way price of things are, its a good back up for my system.

4 x 555 watts panels. And the distance is about 20 metres
Ur panels sud be joined in series cos of ur Inverter type and that wud keep ur amps same. I'd pick a 6mm for ease of expansion/upgrade later

Please what settings should I change on my 2kva 12v using 1 tubular battery 220ah 12v
Check ur manual but basics include
Prog 1 output source priority
Prog 2 maximum charging current Either of 20/30amps though 20amps recommended for ur tubular but i like to switch btw the 2
Prog 5 I like user so i can choose my float, bulk and low dc cut off
Prog 16 charger source priority
Prog 30 battery equalization enable.
Hope that suffices sha.

There is this crazy thing Asian inverter manufacturers do, they label an inverter one thing while the pf shows true capacity to be another. Who knows the pf of the so-called 2.5kva
Guess that's true. My 2kva/1600 watts shows momentarily the overload sign wit my freezer start up surge of abt 900watts. My previous 1kva afripower cant start my freezer.

I will provide pictures.

It's must hybrid inverter (low PV)
Had a similar experience with the 5kva model. Connected everything and then inverter didnt supply output. Everything was intact and worse off,no error code. Na like say my village ppl were in my case as i had promised they wid commission it that day. Long story short, sent inverter back and was repaired under warranty.
