For the issue at hand
Pls let's not allow professional squabbles and hatred ruin our health sector more. What is happening in Nigeria is nothing to write home about, i practiced in Nigeria for years but since i left Nigeria, i realise its a different ball game altogether. Here Nurses, lab. Scientists etc work with love and passion, they respect doctors and takes order from you at every point in time but in Nigeria the reverse is the case, so who suffers these problem, its PATIENTS. Every doctor here has his or her stamp, you can't make a prescription or document on a patient file without signing and stamping it with your official stamp, even the nurses has stamp too, when you ask a nurse to administer drug, she will ask you to write it down and stamp it, when she carry out your instruction, she will stamp her own below yours showing she has done what you instructed. No one administers a drug without a doctor stamp on the prescription, then if there is any problem, the doctor can be traced and prosecuted. Lets welcome good developments for our own good especially in health sector.

Pls for your information, medical fitness is determined and certified by a doctor,when you need such certificate, you will approach a doctor in a hospital especially GOPD or family medicine dept, he is the one to determine the tests he wants you to do, to check your systems and few of such investigations are CXR for your lung and heart, Genotype, Hb or FBC to check your blood components and level, RBS for sugar level, Serology like HIV,HBV,HCVetc. He will also want the nurse to check your vital signs to know if your hypertensive etc. After or before all the tests, he will examine you physically, starting from head ,eyes to toe, examine your systems too, ask you some questions to ascertain you are mentally stable too,,you cant certify a mad man fit nah. With these results, vital signs and his findings in physical examination, he can then write a medical report certifying you mentally, physically and medically fit. That you went to lab to do tests alone does not make you fit or you did CXR does not make you fit. It is at his discretion as a doctor to request the tests he wants you to do.

In house building, a civil engineer is incharge, that you are a carpenter does not make you an engineer, a labourer that mixes cement does not make you a civil engineer. If the house collapse its the engineer that will be arrested and prosecuted not the carpenter, surveyor, architect etc, they are subordinates.

Same applies in hospital, the doctor treats, he determines the illness you have, he tells you this is what i suspect but i need to do tests to confirm, he send you for test, while waiting for result,,he asks the pharmacy, get these drugs for this patient, Nurse administer these drugs, see how to give the drugs so as not to.make mistake. How does that make them now equal in profession. If anything happens to that patient who will be arrested, its the doctor, nurse will say doctor asked me to give this, pharmacist will say doctor ask me to give this, lab. Scientist will say doctor asked me to do these tests. Everybody will exonerate him.or herself leaving the doctor who owns and manages the patient.

Pls how is this difficult for people to understand,

Just like Pharmaceutiacal Society of Nigeria(PSN), Association of Medical Laboratory Scientist of Nigeria (AMLSN)etc, so also NMA.I just read it at the twitter handle of National Youth Service Corps that each Medical certificate /fitness most be accompanied with NMA stamp....."just to curb quackery ....."


My questions to NYSC are as follows

I. Where can I get NMA hospital NOT Federal, State or Any other Primary health care in this country?


II. Is the NMA responsible for the medical check up OR the hospitals?


Iii. Is the stamp from respective hospital managenents not enough ?


Iv. What really NMA members contributes in medical report/fitness



If we really know the answers to above questions I wonder if NYSC is not promoting Quackery rather than trying to Checkmate it because out of morthern 10 different investigations, non of them is been done by NMA member rather other medical professionals



All tests eg HbsAg, Genotype, Urine/stool analysis, Hb, PCV, HCV, TB etc are done and signed by qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists


X-rays and visual test are carried out by Radiographers and Optometrist respectively...

So in these case, What NYSC are they really telling us, is this not promoting quackery by accepting a signed document from the person who is not qualified and liecensed to carried it out?

Similarly, it will be a rediculous if a memeber of particular profession can sign a the document, it means that there will be no authentication, and the members might be deciding to accept or demand something and the aim is totally defeated.


THE WAY FORWARD

1.That Hospital Managements should be and the only way to get medical report/fitness as it comprises the input of different Health professionals


2. If any body most stamp it should be regulatory body Eg Medical laboratory Science Council of Nigeria(MLSCN) Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) etc not professional association who are not affiliate to any government parataltas.





3.If any Professional Association has to Sign, it should be of equal proportion by signing what your respective profession contribute




Finally I hope that the Government, NYSC and Other respective profession involve will figure out a workable solution to avoid any further rediculous way of fighting quackery.

Rubbish. I would rarther attend to the patient’s urgent life supporting needs than go fighting miscreant phone photographers.

You dont need to fight them, just send one of the nurse or hospital assistant to send them away or better still tell the hosp assistant to call the hospital security and you tell him what to do, though in most or every Emergency room, there are always a stationed or standby hosp security staff for issues like this to help decongest and control crowd, to help protect patients and their properties eg phones etc, to also protect you as the doctor or hospital staff. In sitiation the hospital.security felt overwhelmed or.overpowered, its their duty to call or invite the police, inshort POLICE NUMBERS are pasted in the doctors notice board of every emergency room so as to call.them for issues like thos or when their is a suspected criminal or some one with suspicious injury. Its your responsible as a doctor to call the police but continue treating the patient while the police comes so that the patient will not escape

It depends , You can take pictures for the following rrasons
1. MEDICOLEGAL REASONS: For evidence base especially in law court/police investigation etc
2. EDUCATIVE/LEARNING REASONS: For teaching purpose, so can be used to train the upcoming doctors.

But in all these, you are expected to protect the image or privacy of the patient hence not expected to show the face of the patient. In a conscious patient, you are expected to take permision from the patient,in situation the patient declines then you cant. 3. You may even take picture expecially in theatre to help you explain and show the patient or his or spouse after the surgery, the extent of the damage etc. There are so many reasons to take a picture but must be with caution and at the appropriate time.

Aside all these,
1. the press are not allowed to take picture or even come into the emergency room because of the privacy of the patient, so as to protect the patients.
2. A doctor or medical staff shouldn't be taking picture when the patient is either unstable or unattended to, its against the ethics of medical profession, so the priority of the doctor is to stablize/resuscitate the patient hence save his or her life.
3. A doctor is not expected to form parparrazi by taking picture whenever he sees trauma case etc its very very wrong.
4. Its also absolutely wrong to release a patients picture for public consumption or to the press.

Also bear in mind that in Africa, patient relatives or one relative are allowed to stay at the bedside of the patient, so some of them may take picture of the patient unknowingly to the doctor who may be busy saving the life of the patient, some may even beg you so that they can show it to their relatives who at home for them to see the extent of the damage or injury. Allowing them is at the doctors discretion.
There are so many reasons to take a picture but it all depends on the case or incident and must be with caution and at the appropriate time. Pictures are not allowed for fun, social or any other purpose except for educative and medicolegal purpose.

How a 'medical doctor' who is first a human being would see a fellow human suffering and bleeding to death and still ask for police report before going ahead to save life still beats my imagination. How do they really enjoy seeing people who are in the point of death dying when they can help.

In as much as am not in support of allowing anyone to die because of ID card or Police report but pls bear in mind that its not the fault of the doctors nor nurses.

These laws or instructions are made by the higher authority, the school admin gives an instruction or govt. And you expect the doctor or nurse to violate it and loose his or her job, it doesnt make sense. If Govt says dont treat gun shot or accident victim except with police report, you as a doctor cant do otherwise, unless the police will arrest you, you may even loose your license to practice as a doctor, so who is to be blamed? THE PEOPLE AT THE HELM OF AFFAIRS.

If you are employed in a hosp.and your MD says dont treat any patient without them paying admission deposit, you cant do otherwise unless you loose your job, i have personally paid for many, loaned some patients who even refused to pay me back but thats not the solution because even the other staff will help to finish you such that whenever you are on duty, and a patient cant afford to pay, they will tell him/her to go and beg you that you will.always help, HABA. ARE YOU FATHER CHRISTMAS, how many people will you pay for?

Allowing these students to die is not good but the bulk of the game lies on our leaders(Govt, sch authority etc) The students leader should pls dialogue with the sch authority to remove the binding rules so that such event doesnt repeat itself.

My brother, pray that anyone close to you will not be subjected to such inhumane act called RAPE. In as much as its not only women that can be raped, men also pass through such but not all women posses the ability to cushion or withstand such trauma. By raping someone you have traumatized the person, physically, emotionally, psychologically, socially, medically and otherwise.

Physically because the sex is not consensual and never romantic but forcefully, couple with the fact the vagina if fragile can lead to tears on the vagina wall and muscles. This can take weeks or months to heal with agonising pains. Imagine your sister bearing these pains , wailing day and night.

Medically, this person that.raped you, will not wear a protection, you dont know his health status,there by being exposed to various infections both bacterial, fungi and worst of it viral wg HIV, HBV. HERPES etc.Mind you she will.spend money treating these infections immediately or for life because of the rapist

Emotionally, most women that has ever been raped , hardly enjoy sex anymore, because it reminds them of the horrible experience they passed through on that day or night she was raped.

Psychologically, it makes those women loose sense of belonging and dignity which will be difficult to be restored
I can go on and on but in a nutshell, in as much as comiting suicide is not acceptable but raping someone is not only devilish, satanic, horible act that the culprits should be severely punished.

Having said this, permit me to inform you that some ladies uses rape as a decoy or takes undue advantage of it, some after a consensual sex , will want to frame the male counterpart up or seek for public sympathy. The truth is that true victims of rape rarely voice out because of the social stigma

Anambra South is a senatorial zone as well as home to most of the (not all) money bags in Anambra state. Yes, Anambra state is entirely more of APGA state but not when it comes to national assembly elections.

Sincerely speaking she can win Ifeanyi Uba in the primary because the party and the Governor will manipulate the primary to favour her but if APGA field her in the main election it will spell doom for them because she has 80% chances of loosing.

REASONS:
1. She is not popular in Anambra south, she is not on ground. Yes she is wife of Ojukwu and is.well celebrated, admired and.loved by all anambrarians esp.because of Ojukwu but when election is.involved, its a different ball game. Andy is more on ground than her based on there structures but ifeanyi uba is far better on ground than both except.if Chris Uba decides to work for Andy because he is a far better grassroot mobilizer than any of these people and can go any lenght to make sure the person he is supporting wins, just fulfill his terms and price.
2. SENTIMENTS: Believe it or.not, the issue of segregation.and racism will.come.up. They claim she is.not from Anambra but Enugu, she messed up.in relation to this because if she has nutured the intention of contesting earlier, she would.have use the opportunity to.reach out to.the poor masses.accross the zone.esp. widows, empower them, assist the less.previleges,.that would have made anambrarians to always see her as their own. FINANCIAL.WILL.POWER: Andy Uba as APC candidate is.a.money bag that only spends during election, he dashes even cars, and the only one to.challenge him.in reckless spending is Ifeanyi Uba, ifeanyi also dashes cars and houses but the edge Andy has is because he is in APC so will.use state machinery like Police, INEC to.rig the election.as he usually do. Bianca as APGA flagbearer cant afford to spend thag kind of money, she doesnt even have it, Yes she has to machineries loyal to governor but they are not Federal machineries, moreover its federal.election conducted by federal agency INEC and secured or monitored by federal agents(police). Ifeanyi can reduce or prevent the rigging to.an extent because he is.on ground and people can die for him and he can bribe the police/INEC.
4. EXPERIENCE: Andy Uba has been contesting election since 2003, ifeanyi uba since 2011, Bianca? Obiano is.not popular in Anambra south but Andy Uba and Ifeanyi Uba are. Inshort Obiano won in Anambra south because of Ifeanyi Uba and few others but not because of Bianca, not even because of Soludo. Ifeanyi Iba is more accepted in Anambra south than Soludo because Soludo has no structure but is a stake holder of the party. These are people that have spent their time and more , invested it in people hence building a solid structure. Ifeanyi Uba singlehandedly made Labour party a household name in Anambra which Andy cant do or even Obiano. Andy has the money but he lacks self confidence always believe in the power from above, Soludo too has the money but has no structure,.so he is.always looking for a party vehicle with already made structure. Ifeanyi Uba is the only human being that single handedly built a catholic diocese,to mention but few, Andy couldnt even tar a single road in his town but Iyom(Uche ekwunife) as a house of rep member tarred so many roads singlehahndedly. I visited Military Hospital Ikoyi sometime in 2005. The reception has a big picture of the illustration of the good samaritan. Below the picture had a story about the good man, travelling from X to Y and blablabla. But the funny thing is that story ended with the following statement.

It's because what they really want is sympathy and popularity, not solutions, so they'll always go to the social media instead of following the proper channels for complaints.

There is nothing wrong coming to the social media rather it will even help so that the rot and abnormalities will be exposed and further treated by the appropriate authority. Believe you me, if this mam had gone to report to the hospital admin, nothing will happen. What the hosp.admin should focused first is if the allegation is true and how curb, prevent reoccurence and punish the offenders. Someone that has CCF, she is giving her more fluid when she is meant to decongest the fluid accumulating in his heart. There is no single indication for heart transplant in this patient.Why giving him antibiotics, what for?

In a way i dont blame her, this kind of practice is common with Nurses inshort JOHESU, whether professional or academic, they do the same. That you have worked as a nurse for 30yrs doesnot make you a doctor, that you have worked in the hospital for 70yrs or you have worked with 50doctors does not make you a doctor too. So dont copy them, if you want to learn, ask them ,they are always willing to teach you or better still go back to University and become a doctor, have seen so many that did that and today their perception about life has changed.

Look at the case of Sen. Adeleye in Osun state etc, Nurse also claming to be Doctor, thats how the man lost his life.

I don’t think you need any other evidence that the governor is panicking and we can’t wait to have him swept away in a free and fair election on the basis of one man, one vote, one woman, one vote.

“We all know that Fayose was rigged into office and this is no secret because the military officers involved has since confessed to the role they played as well as those involved in the dollars that were withdrawn from the NNPC. These are no secrets anymore.

“I think that Fayose thinks that the very instrument he used to come to power will be used against him. This is a party of change and so, we are not about to copy the darkest side of the PDP.”

What you're feeling is normal. Men are polygamous by nature. It was religion that brought about these man-made marital restrictions.

The envy, hatred and sheer ignorance will not allow you to know what you are writing. To you all men are not created equal but you are agitating for equal pay and status with doctors. To you a doctor diagnosing ulcer in a cancer patient is wrong diagnosis, that shows why you can never pass 2MB talk more of becoming a doctor in your life. Now let me educate you a little. 1. A cancer patient on chemotherapy which is drug treatment of cancer will develop ulcer that is called STEROID induced ulcer 2. Some chronic ulcers can degenerate to gastric cancer especially when not properly managed over a long time. 3. Some of the symptoms of cancer is anorexia which leads to ulcer and weight loss. I can go on and on. 4. When treating a cancer patient, you treat also the complications, anyway you won't understand eg when a doctor is treating you for malaria, he will give antimalarial drug, he will also give you antipyrexia, he will also counsel the patient to use insecticide treated mosquito net, clean environment etc that is PREVENTION, but you don't know that all these goes, Sorry dear. A doctor treats the patient as a whole being not as a unit, we manage everything starting from symptoms to signs to complications and even to adeverse effect of the drugs we use in treating the patient but you are not a doctor and can never be one because you are mentally and intellectually lazy to even ask the doctor to educate you on the reasons for his diagnosis, all you care is salary increament and to answer CONSULTANT. My dear do your self a favour, (you stop learning when you are old), so whenever you are confused, politely approach the doctor for explanation, they are always willing to teach you for free.

So now cleaners are no more johesu, LOL, Pls let me educate you, JOHESU is a coalition of all hospital staff ( including storekeepers, cleaners, security staff etc) excluding doctors. Now one of your own had accident, you are proudly denying them, LOL, So the struggle is not for the betterment of all JOHESU as you claimed but for the few of your selfish and selfcentered few. The irony of the strike. Johesu are on strike but majority of the patients we treat now are johesu members or their relatives and the question is , why coming to hospital for treatment when you are on strike. One even rushed his son to our hospital yesterday, we resuscitated the dying child and even transfused the child. The man is a senior lab scientists in support of the strike, all these while the blood bank was locked up but when we requested for blood for his child, he secretly got the keys from.his colleague and they provided us with the blood we need. God is watching us all. Your career is what you chose for yourself don't envy others, if you want to earn like a doctor pls go and be one. So many JOHESU members now hang sthethoscope and doctors stickers on their car, impersonating to be doctors. Pls be proud of your profession and don't immitate others, I wonder what you are teaching your children

NYCN lauds INEC over free, conclusive Anambra election



The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a free, fair and conclusive governorship election in Anambra state.

NYCN, in a statement issued on Monday 20th November, 2017 in Abuja, said that the conduct of the election was impressive and in line with international best practices.

The statement was signed by Comrade Ambassador Obinna Nwaka, NYCN’s Director of Political and Democratic Matters.

The Director of Political and Democratic Matters said that NYCN, under the leadership of Mr Murtala Garba, is proud of INEC boss, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

“Democracy can only strive when electorates are allowed to cast their votes without the fear of Intimidation, rigging and electoral violence.

“Nigerian youths are indeed proud of the INEC Chairman and his management team for securing our democracy which is government of the people, by the people and for the people.

“We appreciate the effort of the Deputy President of NYCN, Mr Innocent Nduanya who used his position and also as an indigene of Anambra state to assist in moblising and sensitising the youths.

“Finally, NYCN on behalf of over 90 million Nigerian youths both in Diaspora congratulate  Gov. Willie Obiano of APGA for his re-election as the Executive Governor of Anambra State,’’ he said.

Comrade Obinna Nwaka implored him to appoint more youths into his cabinet to use this second tenure to complete the state projects and ensure he als[sub][/sub]o delivered his campaign promises
