I always knew there was something up with TexasCowgirl. Please post more including those claiming to live in diaspora while we all know they're squatters in some suburban apartments in Lagos. |

Rossikk: How I wish you're walking down the road and some white guy with a gun harasses you, chases you, and shoots you dead. I would be right there asking why you didn't make the right decision by sitting at home. FU.C.KING STUP.ID UNCLE TOM DUNCE.Nice one! |
jackbauersballs: I really dont get what most people are on about..I wasn't expecting this from you or maybe I did. You sound like someone who had it all. I grew up in the hood in lagos and if someone suspicious is on your trail that late at night, you got to be suspicious. It's either flight or fight. If someone was trailing me in in my hood, I would definitely charge at that person because it's my hood. It might even be my homeboys. I grew up there and I have every right to defend myself when I sense I am in danger of any kind and that's what Trayvon did. Something you're forgetting is that George Zimmerman called the local authority and was adviced not to be in pursuit of this suspect. He sized the suspect ( Trayvon ) and thought he could take him out but his deduction was wrong. The dude ( Trayvon ) showed he had more strength and overpowered Zimmerman and bloodied his noise. What then did the coward do? He saw he was loosing the fight and had to withdraw his weapon and killed an unarmed man. Another point you're forgetting you're forgetting is Zimmerman is just a local watch. From my understanding, I believe they're even milder than a vigilante. His job was just to sight for suspicious activities and report to the police. It was voluteering, he wasn't being paid and shouldn't have had the ''HERO'' syndrome. The police would then arrive at the scene and look for the suspect themselves since that's what they were trained for. I'm sad this murderer had to go free for his crime against humanity. Karma would surely catch up to him, I believe so. |
I don't want to base my argument on this issue with the race card. I never did follow the trial but I read the summations and I am going to give my own idealogy about this incident. G.Z ( George Zimmerman ) saw a suspicious looking black male ( Trayvor Martin ) and immediately called the authorities for assistance and to report his observations. He was told not to make an approach on this suspicion person but keep a watch on their activity. He disobeyed order and followed this suspicious character even into tight black corners. Now, I want to imagine myself in T.M shoes. I'm walking home or going out very late in the night and suddenly there's this figure emerging from his vehicle and carefully approaching me in the back watching me closely. I quickly picture this figure and notice his race to be hispanic/latino descendant and is built like a bull. Knowing the area very well for it's gang related voilence, I get spooked about me attacked or being jacked ( being robbed ) and I am no punk so I turn back and charge at my predator asking why he is following me and I get no response. My immediate reflex would be to attack and make my predator incapacitated so I can flee. I am still not sure who is his. He might be a serial killer or some sort or even a white targetting blacks for racist reasons. Now, there's a brawl between me and this person who is about twice my size and almost immediately, I am being shot and I loose my life in this incident. Now everyone kindly take the time to imagine this scenerio and tell me what you would have done. Wouldn't it be the same thing I have done?. You can't just stalk someone because you're an overzealous cop wannabee even when the authuroties adviced you not to follow suit but to wait for backup. Now an innocent man has been murdered and the culprit is now being acquitted of his crime because of it's circumstancial evidence. I just think this is wrong. G.Z is guilty and should be sentenced for second degree murder or even a lesser charge of manslaughter. My two cents. |

Hooking up or looking for love on nairaland is not a good idea with all these stucked up bit-ches ( Pardon my french ). Most girls as to many guys are just looking to have fun. There're seriously some single ladies on here but for some reason, they don't seem to respond to advances or just toy with a guys emotion like some nonentity. Some girls are just here to boost their ego. You can imagine a girl not having a beau in the real world and she comes to a forum and post a picture of her in the 1860's and some guys are drooling over and telling her how beautiful she is and all that ish. It boost their egos while we all know even ogres are better looking than they are in the real world. Don't get me wrong peeps, I have never tried to get hooked up with any lady and I don't intend to. If you're looking to hookup or a relationship, it's best if you try it in the real world. Your chances are better trying the real way than looking for love online. |
Impetus - stimulation or encouragement resulting in increased activity. Prejudice |
I lost faith in religion when the bad eggs amongst the pastors, prophets and ministers of GOD saw the opportunity of using the church as a means of getting more financial security while ignoring the needs of their congregations and twisting the word of GOD to suit their doctrines and get total control of their members.. First time I met T.B Joshua ( I didn't really meet him one on one persay ), I was visited to the synagogue church of all nations for the first time in 1998. The invitation was from my father. I was blasphemer against his ministry as I was one of the leading forces in concocting and creating derogative and nonsensical news about his mode of operandi and his church but when I arrive there, my view about the man and his church changed. I saw things for myself for the first time. I saw the TRUTH. I felt the present of GOD in his church and it felt as if I was surrounded by love, peace, serenity and I was one with myself. It was a joyous feeling to be there and the sermons he delivered wasn't about properity but about salvation and the purity of one's soul. When I got home, I called all my friends and explained to them what I saw and felt but I was branded by my friends in a sad way so I just kept the whole issue to myself. I loved the church and visited for the next 3 years till I stopped going. I stopped going for no reason particularly. I backslided and now I am taking time to heal and let the word of GOD talk to me once more. The man in the synagogue prophet T.B Joshua is a true man of GOD like I have never seen. If he wasn't and was involving himself in diabolical means, why hasn't he been caught all these while. Non-believers and blasphemers should ask themselves this question. As Nigerians, we should try to be accomodative and supportive. We give support to the wrong people and turn our backs to the right ones. I bet when it comes to politics, there're are some individuals who can die for a political figure while giving their all for a man who lies but when it comes to religion especially Christianity, we turn our back. A prophet is never respected where he comes from but that does not mean we can't change that idealogy. |
Scourge - A source of widespread dreadful affliction and devastation such as that caused by pestilence or war. Utopia. |

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Nairaland is a forum where you could lay all your problems. This is a website for information and not some online counselling site for married individuals. All the same, I would give a simple advice or observation to this matter anyways. You claim your husbands runs everytime there's an argument. My first question is, are you those type of women that nags everytime or get violent with any little provocation. Did you force, pressure and blackmail him to get married to you?. It seems it's the norm occuring in Nigerian homes anyways. Most Nigerian women especially those that over 28years of age tend to be blackmailing dudes into marriage by either conningly getting pregnant for a man or enticing the man with the promise of wealth and financial security. How old is the dude? Is he a young chap, maybe in his early or mid-twenties. How old are you? Are you an aging woman who thinks her biological clock is ticking overtime. These questions need to be anwered so people could get a grasp of what kind of person you are and what's stirring trouble in your marriage. From the little you've written anways, I can either deduce the problem is coming from you or maybe your husband isn't the marriage type and can't handle such pressures that comes with it so he takes flight when there seems to be trouble in the home or probably he is the type of man that does flees when there's is trouble because he can't handle problems or also, he might be freespirited. There are so many men out there who are free-spirited and don't believe in the institution of marriage so they get married only if they've been blackmailed into or forced into marriage because the society/culture forces them to.. Lastly, he might be a closet gay ( just joking ). You got yourself into this so you should face the situation alone and stop shouting "Blue Murder" like you're all innocent. There's definitely something you're doing wrong and you should ask yourself that rhetorical question. You alone knows the full details of your marriage and you alone can solve your problem. We're all just passerbys and speculators in this matter. |

Threads of this importance should be allowed to bask in the grace of the frontpage but it seems most Nigerians are not concious about health or any related topic. Nice on by the way, keep them coming. My favorite fruit is Mango and it was no surprise to me when it made your list. The English word for Udara/Agbalumo is Cherry. I might be wrong though. |

plaetton: You seem to have a very narrow view of human history. In total, your points are compelling and not so different as to what I was trying to say but you made the points more bold and more effectively to stand but there's some aspect of your views I think are contradictory to mine. You say life began in Africa. Science teaches us that and with proof so that is undisputed but religion says another. So for the sake of derailing, I would keep religion aside. You say civilization started in Africa and here is the part I don't understand. How did it start? Do Ethopians and Egyptians considered themselves Africans? I would understand your argument being civilization started in Egypt but my question is, does Egyptian call themselves Africans. You already know the answer to that question which is no. If Egyptians and Ethopians never considered themselves to be Africans, how did civilization started in Africa.. Am I making sense? You say Islam brought civilization to Europe. I don't agree with this but I would keep calm because I'm not sure so kindly explain how. I also totally agree with you on the fact that the Europeans came into to Africa to loot for their dying empires and use religion as a weapon while inadvertly bringing civilization to Africa. Now here's the question: On your first paragraph, you mentioned something about Africa being civilized then you further on went to say the Europeans inadvertly brought civilization to Africa. Are you not contradicting your statement? If Africa as you say was already civilized, how did the Europeans bring civilization to a continent that already was civilized?? Are you getting my argument? I would stand on my ground about what I said about religion putting man on a leash and reducing his desire to commit hateful crimes towards others. I have read the Bible countless of times that I can remember how many times I've held the book. I know there are stories that depicted serious destruction of lives and properties but the part people like you tend to forget is that there are two parts of the Bible. The old and the new testaments. Even though the new testament is directly contradictory to the old testament, it teaches the Christians new laws as to how to live. The new testament teaches Christians about tolerating each other and people of other faiths, about loving one another and about the consequences if Christians don't measure up to that standard. The old testament is there in the Bible as just a reminder to Christians how things have changed. Now for the sake of derailing anymore, the reason why I believe religion (Christianity) has somehow tamed man desire for destruction is in the Bible. The Bible made Christians understand the peril of not going through with God's commandment is death and those unfaithfuls would be cast into a pit of burning pit forever and those who obey would live everlasting lifes in Paradise. Nobody wants to be thrown into an endless pit of burning flame so sometimes, that is a warning to those who want to commit attrocities and in a way Christianity has tamed man's desire for destruction. A religion like Islam, I can't vouch for because I don't understand what their value is, I haven't read their Quran and Hadith but from the look of things happen around me and in the muslim nations, I can't say I'm impressed. The Bible teaches about love, respect, accepting other people differences and if we as human's could abide by that rule, I think there would be everlasting peace. Also, there are smart people out there who read between the lines of this Holy books and use them to perpetrate evil for the purpose of getting power and what not. I hope I've made some sense. Even before the advent of religion, man has always exploited, killed and commited atrocicities. |
