Nelson mandela if you eva knw who tht is acknowledged the role naija played in the apartheid struggle and naija was the first african country he visited after he left prison.

Also Sam Nujoma the former president of namibia was also here to thnk naija for helping his country in the liberation struggle.

Nigrians despite the monumental socio-economic challenges we hav to contend with,we are still abt the most ingenious and tenacious people on the african continent who will always make somthng out of nothng no matter wht. There is no country tht has seen half the challenges we have faced as a nation and remained 1.
This short note touched me. Thank you brother.

Health › Re: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by druid06(m): 8:16pm On Jun 30, 2013
I think the only surgerical proceedures Nigerian hospitals can successfully do without any complications are minor ones such as caesarian section and appendix removal and in most cases they do pretty bad jobs. I had a friend who undergone the appendix removal surgery in Lagos teaching hospital and the surgeon did a pretty bad job cutting and sewing of that part of his abdomen. After the surgery, he had a big scar like from someone butchered by an amateur and you want people to trust these same "butchers" with complex surgical proceedures like Kidney transplant?. I say no. Moreover, our hospitals are not well equipped with the right tools and right medical machineries which cost millions of dollars to purchase.

Even if they do have this surgical tools which I am absolutely sure they don't I wouldn't trust a Nigerian surgeon with such a complex operation because of their lack of experience and lack of success rate for such an operation in Nigeria. I would prefer travelling overseas where I know the success rate of such a tedious operation is more than average if I can afford it.
Health › Re: Why Do Kidney Transplant Abroad When It Can Done In Nigeria? by druid06(m): 5:50pm On Jun 30, 2013
I don't think medical surgeries of this complexicity could be done in Nigeria. It's too advance for our surgeons and moreover I don't think there is any hospital equipped for such surgery in Nigeria. If anyone thinks otherwise, please name one institution..

If I died today, that bastard will probably be nacking my girl before I get shipped to the morgue.
That got me cracked up. I can relate to what you're saying. I don't have a best friend per say but my circle of friends can not be trusted when it comes to women except for a relatively few individuals. The closiest to me is one dude and the guy seem to be checking out my babe whenever she's around. Sometimes I do feel heavily uncomfortable but I let it slide. I for once is sure the minute I turn my back for a second, he probably would be dry humping her leg like a dog when I'm not around..LOL..

@99cents and felis, as much as I admire you tenacity by standing in what you believe in, I can say you both are wrong.

Reason why;

1]You're fighting for equal right for both men and women in the wrong place. Kindly take your views to the middle east.
2]You don't actually know what feminism is. You both have this deluded idea about feminism is the taking control of the home by a woman.
3]You both don't have definite points, always blabbering about.
4]You both are fighting for the superiority of women over men and not gender equality
5]You both are biased
6]You both have family issues ( I was right when @99cent mentioned her mother threatened her father with divorce for doing absolutely nothing wrong.
7]You both have problems with authority
8]I suspect you both are lesbians (Most feminist are anways)

This is my last argument for tonight and I urge other's to leave this two persons be. No need to argue with someone who thinks they're better than others. It's just liike arguing with goats.

Good night.

99cent: why do you think there are few women in technology fields?
why do you think they do not have a "flair" for it.

last time I checked, the president of Harvard University (Larry Summers) was recently FIRED for claiming that women were dumber than men that's why they do not go into science and math. do you agree with him?
feminists of course played a role in actively making sure he was ousted!!! and rightfully so.
Last time you checked or you mean seconds ago because I suspect you keep using google to get all this discriminating information via google. So because he claimed women were dumber than men means all men think the same way too?

abeg go and sit down
I have been called stubborn, a juggernaut but I know what I am definitely not, a misogynist or anti-feminist or whatever crude words you bring out from your dictionary. I believe in equal rights in any form be it man and woman, gay and straight, caucacians and people of other races. I just don't agree with your view of feminism. I had to look the world online once more to see if I miss something but the information I found is totally different from what you call "feminism".

We have proven to you about your views on so called feminism isn't actually what you thought it was.

I believe there's gender equality is virtually everywhere apart from the middle east and some parts of Africa.

So why not travel to these places and spread your views and enlighten the women there instead of constituting nuisance on this Forum.

fellis: I am not fighting for superior rights, please stop making false accusations against me, that is just low and despicable.

You really should try to read carefully before you type your responses,I have said it over and over on this thread that the reason why I brought up the issue of bearing names is to show you people that many men still believe that women must always be subordinate to men. Yet you rush and type an emotional response that has absolutely nothing to do with my last post.
This isn't about what name I want to bear or don't want to bear, it is about the norm, what people believe and what the majority accept as normal, and that norm is that women should bear their husband's names as a sign of being under him or under his control because many people still think women are inferior to men!!!

You didn't give me examples of children growing up to bear their mother's names......

To the bolded, I think a user told you to visit Ghana where children there adopt their mother's maiden name if I am correct.

https://www.nairaland.com/157765/nigerian-man-murders-wife-america
You're just going on in circle, you do not have a definite point and hence I can deduce you don't even know what feminism stands for. I bet you're one of those women who just read the article somewhere or a book talking about feminism and you thought it would be cool if you became one while failing to realize what it actually means and what their values actually stands for.

If God so willing I have a more successful wife than I do then that means more blessing to my family and more means to create opportunities for our children. Your idea about feminism is totally different from what it actually stands for and so I would not label you one. You're an imposter. I just think you have a problem with authority and you don't believe anyone is above you or should be the one giving orders. You think you're better than everyone. Your problem is not a woman thing but your own personal problem. Probably, you grew up with a single parent most likely with your mother and you got bitter without having a father figure around.

So you grew up bitter thinking, if my mother could do this alone I could this too hating on all men and wanting to conquer us all. Babe, you need to go get professional help. Since the dawn of time, the male is usually the head, same with animals in the jungle and all that. If there's a GOD, HE created us and he gave us specific duties especially in the home. A man is always the head in the home and the wife his companion ( helper, assistant ) just like a vice-president to his president. The woman is not below the man but like a subordinate, a helper so a woman wanting to change the circle of things either is deluding or have psyche problems.
Politics › Re: We Should All Be Feminists- Chimamanda Adichie by druid06(m): 2:16am On Jun 30, 2013
99cent: this is what people mean when they say that a woman (or black) has beat the odds and risen above. clearly she must have MUCH MORE leadership skill than you if she can be a leader despite the fact that she wasn't given the same opportunity as you were due to the sexist misogynist society.

women are oppressed in society and you yourself have just admitted it. right from a young age, society tells them to take a subordinate position and all their leadership potential is being snuffed out of them.

I don't know how you plan on raising your daughters [if you (will) have any] but if you want to do them a favor, raise them to be leaders.
If feminism means taking the control of my household, my family. Then fuc-k you, fuc-k feminist but I doubt that is what it stands for.
Politics › Re: We Should All Be Feminists- Chimamanda Adichie by druid06(m): 2:06am On Jun 30, 2013
fellis: You, druid, can you marry a woman that will lead your house assuming she has better leadership skills than you? Can you bear your wife's name after marriage?
I find it hard to believe there is a woman that has more "leadership" skill than I do except she's a dude (LOL). I was trained to be the head of the family from a very young age as I followed my father's footstep and learned grately from him so I find it hard to believe that there would be a woman with more guardian skills than I do and head the home better than I do except I am an invalid.

I can not take the name of my wife because adopting her name would mean I am adopting her fathers name. I am not getting married into her family, she's the one getting married into mine though if she want's to keep her father's name, I am cool with it so far our children keeps mine.
Politics › Re: We Should All Be Feminists- Chimamanda Adichie by druid06(m): 1:55am On Jun 30, 2013
fellis: Okay o, sorry. Let me rephrase the question, do you believe women can be head of the family just like men? smiley
It depends on social, cultural setting. Where I come from and the values I was brought up with, the man is usually the head of the family. There are some men out there for some reasons unknown that don't think they can measure up to the standards of being the head of the family so they allow their partner while some it's 50-50 with the decision making. It all depends on who you're with in that relationship and what kind of values they believe in.
Politics › Re: We Should All Be Feminists- Chimamanda Adichie by druid06(m): 1:47am On Jun 30, 2013
fellis: I just have one question for the men on this thread saying they believe ingender equality.

Can a woman lead a home? Do you believe that women can assume positions of leadership over their husbands in the home?

Thanks for answering. Please try to base your answer on logical arguments and not religious scriptures.
Reason why all of the dudes here ignore the paraphrased question is because we don't believe in inequality in whatever form. You asked men who believe in gender inequality to respond, none gave you a response so that should be an answer to your ridiculous question.

By the way, marriage is not an organization or a form of government. I don't think the role of men in the household is that of the ''leader'' as you used but the head or guardian. They are two different entities and meaning differently

@99cent, I don't think you're intelligent as you claim. Your thesis and argument on this matter are totally false. I just think you're one of those girls/women who enjoys attention and performance high so you make up this false claims so people could awe at your false intelligence if you even have one. Like I.Joan said, if you truly believe in today's world that women don't enjoy equal rights as men then you need to get your head examined. I think you need exposure.

99cent: I don't think women should be favored more in society. men and women should have EQUAL rights.
women's rights is about equal rights wink
get it right.

no one said elections should be cancelled and redone. stop putting words in my mouth.
but if you are asking my opinion on how to get more women to be politically involved, then u should ask me directly rather than putting words in my mouth.

besides, it wasn't too long ago that women didn't have any right at all to vote!! it's going to be a step by step process.no one is expecting the 'man' to hand women rights voluntarily. women will have to fight and work for it. that's sad but it's reality. that's why feminism exist.
Well, I am confused here. What is it then that women want that they don't currently have?. What is the right/equal right that they are fighting for in the cause of feminism that they don't currently enjoy?.

You can agree with me that;

Women now have equal rights to vote.
Women can be politically involved.
Women can rise to the peak of their careers.
Women are no longer treated as emotional train wreck.
Women can now be breadwinners.
Women have their own sports.
Some industries even unfairly favor women to the detriments of men.
And so many others that I can't currently remember.

I agree with you that there was a yardstick and inequality to women in the past but those wrongs have currently been ammended. If you agree with me that today's society has accepted women into various thresholds, then what more do you guys wants. Personally, I just think women don't know what they want and women like you would keep stirring trouble all in the name of feminism and to play the victim.

99cent: name just 80 out of the thousands of female C.E.Os of giant companies all over the world that you talk about.
list to me the great political posts of women all over the world as compared to men.
until then, you should go to sleep.

might as well proclaim that racism is dead because obama is president.
another lame argument.
Well, me saying thousands of women are currently holding the position of C.E.O's of great companies is an exaggeration on my side and I am sorry for that wrong thesis but what we can both agree on is that like men, women too rise into the peak of their respective careers..

As for political posts, I think each and everyone holding a significant post in the world including men got there by winning more votes. Are you saying elections should be cancelled and redone just because more women are not holding these political posts?. I don't get you.

So your basic point is women should be favored more in todays society? That's totally opposite of what feminism stands for.
Politics › Re: We Should All Be Feminists- Chimamanda Adichie by druid06(m): 11:46pm On Jun 29, 2013
I think I found this thread too late but I'ld give my little knowledge on this matter all thesame. I had no time watching the video by this Adichie and so I'm not totally sure about what her views on this matter are. From the little I know about feminism and the information I've gathered through through the internet and via wikipedia, I can say I don't know what's the scuffle and shuffle on this thread is all about.

Deducting from wiki - Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women.

So from this definition, I don't know what's the shout and cry for blue murder is?. Women in today's society are enjoying equal rights same as men. There are thousands of female C.E.O of giant companies all over the world. Women hold great political post virtually everywhere in the world even some had ruled nations. The current president of Brazil is a woman, we had a female governor in the U.S, holding senate post. Even in Nigeria, career women are doing just fine in whatever fields they find themselves in and most rise into the peak of their careers. There's also the queen of England who wields so much power.

I just think it's pathetic of some group of people out there especially women claiming to be feminist who are just trying to twist/suit this feminist idealogy to the society into favoring them more than men. The society of today especially in the western world has totally accepted and embarked on this feminist idea and so I am not sure what is their foul cry about.

I think the only places in the world where this idea hasn't been totally welcomed and accepted is some part in Africa and the whole of the Arabia nation. Those feminist should take their views and idealogy into those afforementioned places and stop constituting mayhem and destroying what feminism stands for.. Good night!

Animations and Cartoons are cool for kids to watch. Ben 10's good too. It teaches children to think for themselves also about family, society and responsibility. Also the action part of Ben 10 and other action related cartoon is just a way to tend to kid's overreactive side but make sure you stirr away kids from Aninations and cartoons that adult themed related like Family guy, simpsons American Dad and South Park which is one of my favorites. These afforementioned cartoons are for adults only.

Threads of this despicable manner should be deleted and sent to the dogs never to see the light of day. I am so furious with the degrading values of our generation and this thread just proved me right. A woman with the full intent of knowing what's she doing got knocked up and now she's trying to trade the unborn baby for financial assistance and there are some weirdos out there willing to pay for this baby like it's some kind of livestock/commodity.

I am so ashamed, upset and irritated of this post and the person behind this. My only advice for you if you this is real and if you have any dignity, respect for yourself. You should keep this baby. It's been over 3 months and terminating this pregnancy at this crucial stage could be deterant to your health and whatever pride, dignity you have left.

I don't know what else to say other than what I just said above. Going to listen to some music now, hopefully it would help clear my head and make me forget about this shinenigans I just read. The world is going mad!
