therealMcCain: my question is the christian who constantly uses such words(there are lots of other variants) what will be the consequences/effects of such words in his/her life?

just to buttress my point we all know the christian is not supposed to commit adultery, so if asked what will happen if a married christian impregnates another lady? you dont answer by saying "that man is not a christian or a christian cant do such etc" you go ahead to state what will happen or how the church will handle such case
therealMcCain: this is me asking you brother drummaboy, please what do these verses mean?

thanks
OK.

I will attend to your question to the best that my time can permit because Q and A is not the purpose of this thread, its an aside.

I have answered the meaning of the scriptures as listed by mcphee earlier, therefore I will not be touching on those. But I will attend to the question you bolded.

IS THERE A CONSEQUENCE FOR A CHRISTIAN WHO CONTINUALLY SPEAKS NEGATIVELY?

Is there a consequence for a Christian continually indulging in fornication or adultery?

The answer to the two questions is "yes". And the reason is obvious.

But should this two questions not lead us to the true meaning of who a Christian is?

While you do not wish for me to relate this discuss to WOF; that wish is impossible for me to fulfill because the thread is on that subject and virtually everything wrong with the church can be traced to it. So forgive me for again having to refer to them.

WOF has set up systems in much of Christendom. It ranges from "How to give yourself out of poverty"; "How to achieve Breakthroughs"; "How to Attain Blissful Marriages"; "How to Excel in Academics"; and even "How to becomw a Christian". You may not have read any such books but the methodologies abound in church: preach a powerful evangelistic message; bring people to the point of guilt; make an altar call; tell the: "say after me 'Lord Jesus...' "; alas, you are now a Christian. The individual leaves church thinking he is a Christian. There no changed life; there is no encounter with the Savior; he simply joins a community of Christians. They teach him to tithe to make wealth. They teach to speak in tongues. They teach him to speak positively to get result. They warn him of the consequences of not doing these things. In all, he is taught by men the "doctrines of men"; he doesn't know God. He doesn't know what is to be taught by God. That is where I believe the question of "what is the consequence of negative speaking or adultery" came from.

So you can see that while I do not refuse the fact that there are consequences in the Christian life, I am convinced your question is taken from the wrong end.

In my earlier answers, I remember emphasizing the born again man. The man who has met Jesus. The man who knows God and God knows him, like David. The man whom God instructs by his Spirit. Can this man commit adultery? Yes. Will he reap the consequence like David? Yes. Can he speak negatively? Yes. Should he speak negatively. No. Because scripture and the Spirit in him instructs him otherwise. If he does are there consequences? Yes. In either cases does this individual cease being God child? No. Does God have a plan to sanctify him in life from adultery and negative speaking? Yes. Do we have the ability to help God in this work of sanctification? No. Are we called to walk in the Spirit, and thus cooperate with the Spirit in this work of sanctification? Yes. Is it my duty to dictate to another how God will achieve this sanctification? No. Do I have enough business with my own work of sanctification not to poke my nose another person's? Yes.

Again I return to the formulae concept of Christianity that WOF bandy around. It is antiChrist. Christians are enjoined to be Christians: consequences or no consequences. God is our Father, he knows how to work out all that concerns us. We must however mind what we believe because that one has eternal consequences. A false gospel that turns Christianity into a formula and disdains God's sovereignty will damn the souls of men and not just give negative consequences in life.

PS

As to the exact consequences of negative speaking in a believer who indulges it, I don't know. I am not God. But if he is a son, a true one, I believe that whatever consequence, good or bad, will further aid his sanctification in life: thus all things working out for his good.

pls could u explain these verses nannymcphee listed as to what they mean in life of a born again Christian

thanks

proverbs 6:2
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Proverbs15:4
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit

Proverbs18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 18:7
A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul

James3:4-5
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

James 1:26
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

1peter3:10
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
I have and I believe she understood the answer. I should ask you to tell me what you do not understand about the answers provided.

therealMcCain: Nice write up here, but u seem to be talking about the transformation that takes place after conversion

James likened the tongue to the rudder of a ship & further states that the rudder controls the ship, does that not mean that the tongue can also determine the course of one's life

What happens to the Christian who constantly speak fear & death, are u saying there are no consequences

Romans 10:9-10
For with the heart man believes unto righteousness & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

if salvations start with believing in ones heart
About Jesus & speaking it forth, what then of a man who speak negative words(I'm not talking of swear words)

I am of the opinion that a Christian who makes negative confessions will reap its fruits

Imagine someone who always says the following

1. I'm no good
2. I'll never amount to anything
3. I'm barren
4. I'll never succeed in this business

Will this person be productive?
Sorry to say, you are still in the name it, claim it mindset that sure takes time to be ridded of.

I mentioned in the quote above that the Spirit in the believer manifest hope, love, optimism, etc. A true Christian will show these things.

If however a Christian has a reason to fear, he should fear and not use faith words to cover it. Nevertheless this should not stop him from casting his care on Jesus.

The James scripture butreses my position on sanctified mindset and thinking; it encourages us to speak well and not neccasarily to speak to get.

That's I want to see how the story ends. What's his state of devotion now? That's why.

And then a love for good story telling too. And this is one good story telling.

Image123: Wow, just wow. Mark is going to say something other than tithe? i'm happy to read this, truly happy.
DrummaBoy: MY NOMINEES:

Why MarkMiwerds?

MarkMiwerds is an American and Mark is blind. Despite this he presents issues that even those who sees physically cannot refute. Mark is an expert on tithing. He believes he has a calling to deliver folks from the false teaching on tithing. So far he carries out his ministry with focus and precision. His 58 day discussion on tithing which he refuted, along with his ally Candour, is a masterpiece on the subject of tithing: www.nairaland.com/1548047/theological-discuss-tithing-rhymeyjohn-image123

What many do not realize is that Miwerds has profound insights into a lot more things than just tithing. His posts on Facebook reveals this. A man in his mid fifties and who has been a Christian for more than 30 years, I believe he has something we all can learn from.

I recommend him heartily for this convention and I urge others to do the same.

nannymcphee: Thanks, I'll like ur input in all the questions I asked regardless of whether I quoted u or not

1. The first being on the issue of negative confession, I cited some quotes
2. The issue of no creative miracle being possible today excerpt thru science, I also cited scriptures
3. The issue of the cross

As for the Tower of Babel, I never knew it was not an actual event but a symbolic one, I took it literally so I'll study more & get back to u on that but I cited another scripture in proverbs that talks about " as a man thinkers so he is"

just try to read thru the post where I asked these questions

Thanks
Permit me to answer only number 1. Number 3 has been touched on in my last post. I do not have the luxury of time to reach number 2 and I think some of my friends have either worked on that or will do it in latter posts.

Concerning Negative Confession.

Again I don't have a bible software again on this phone (in fact anyone with a workable software on scripture for android phones should help a brother out with s link. ejo!) so I cannot post scriptures but I will paraphrase or refer you to chapters.

The born again Christian is a new creature. One of the first miracle of a saved man is a sanctified tongue. I know this bc it happened to me. Before I became a Christian I was a gangster rapper. I knew every word of Snoop's "Doggy Style" album verbatim. The result was that I could paint a room blue with expletives. When Jesus came he removed all the f and b and m words. It surprises me till date. I consider it a miracle and a blessing.

The sanctified tongue is the character and duty of the Christian. So Paul says let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth. Etc.

The next blessing that comes with being born again is a sanctified mindset. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speak. The work of the Spirit in us produces faith, trust, rest, hope, love, optimism, truth, etc. These things appear in our words. So when you see the Proverbs says the power of life and death lies in the tongue, those scriptures are not giving us formulas. They are telling us the outcome of the sanctified life and the depraved one. The scriptures are not saying talk like this so you may have these results; they are saying the results you see have a root course.

Those scriptures also further enjoins the Christian on what sanctified speaking should entail. So rather than deploying them as a means to an end, we use them as yardstick towards greater sanctification.

The trouble with WOF is their turning God and his word to a genie. Say the right words; do the right things; and you will get results. Scripture does not teach this.

Some of the greatest men of faith said the most "unfaith" words in scripture.

The three Hebrew children said even if God did not save them they would not bow.

Jesus called a king a fox. He used the word WOE often. He spoke of his crucifixion - a very negative thing.

Paul called a pastor white washed sepulcher. He spoke of false prophets and used the most derogatory terms, like dogs, to describe them. He spoke often of sick companions.

Peter and Paul prophesied their deaths; and so on.

So all these "you must speak like this to get this result" is not the gospel. If however we are told that sanctification should produce right speaking, then we are saying a different thing. The first case seeks an end for self - idolatary; the second case seeks God's glory.

nannymcphee: John 14:18
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised

pls can u explain ur quote in the light of the above scripture?

If thru sin death & all other evil entered into the world & u say sin has been taken care of, don't u think the effects & results of sin will also be taken care of in the life of those that has embraced the cross or the sacrifice?
The quote you provided on me actually referred to a number of texts. Pls can you find those texts and possibly reproduce them here? It will help the discuss. We have discussed a great deal in this thread, I cannot immediately find where I made that statement though I stand by it and do not deny them.

When you have seen those texts, you should come to one conclusion alone and that is that Jesus died for men's sins alone - Matthew 1:21.

A thorough reading of the gospels and especially the epistles reveals this. Let me shed some light on the latter statement. The epistles are termed by theologians as church age doctrines. What this means is that prior to Jesus death and resurrection, there was no church. It was when he rose the church was formed. Our Lord did not stay behind to teach the church how to function; rather he sent the Holy Spirit. The epistles are Spirit inspired messages to the church. And nowhere in the epistle will you find a doctrine of Jesus death other than his dying being solution to sin, alone.

The gospel that recorded Jesus ministry on the other hand were peculiar in the sense that Jesus time on earth was a merger of grace and law. This was necessary for him to fulfill the law in one hand and to bring us to grace in another hand, John 1:17.

Another peculiar thing about Jesus was his being anointed without measure to confirm the ministry God had sent him to do. This is what Christ means: the anointed one. This is what was recorded of the messiah in Isaiah which Luke 4, the scripture you quoted, was reiterating. Jesus was sent to deliver men, heal them, etc. However, his death on the cross solved menu's problem with sin alone: via our right standing with God and grace for holy living.

Now Luke 4 also points us to something the Messiah does in the individual life. When sin is solved, the natural outworking effects might lead to health and wealth; however there is no where these are GUARANTEED. What is GUARANTEED is righteousness and holiness. The rest are what God adds by grace and mercy alone.

When we go to God to solve our problems, we turn him to an idol. When we submit to God to solve what he defines as man's problem, which is sin, we find a Saviour. God has never had problem with man riches, or man being healthy; Gods problem with all men, rich or poor, healthy or sick, is sin.

And it is this problem Jesus came to solve.

Hallelujah!!!

WOF teaches a false gospel when she says God has sent Jesus to solve other problems other than sin. This, my sister, is a lie.

MY SUBMISSION ON F9: Name it.. Claim it... doctrine

I have a short statement to make on this "name it and claim it" practice and I will just give them in bullet points; a sort of summary of what has already been very well presented by trustman and BabaGnoni.

* The "name it and claim" is an unbiblical doctrine and practice as neither Christ nor his apostles were ever seen engaging in it.

* The doctrine is basically an extension of the "formular" kind of Christianity that pervade much of what many tout as Christian living today. It betrays basic and orthodox Christian beliefs about Gods sovereignty and enthrones man as god.

* Its a doctrine that justifies lust and covetousness in Christianity. While orthodox Christianity encourages a despising of the lust of the flesh and eyes, and pride of life; this WOF doctrines justifies them, and encapsulates them in Christian language, making believers unsuspecting of being sold to the world.

* Its the chief doctrine and practice of WOF. It summarizes the prosperity gospel like no other.

* Its a doctrine of demons, like most WOF doctrine as it despises implicit trust in God, the corner stone of the Christian faith: The Just Shall Live by Faith.

* Like other practices of WOF it turns God to our errand boy. It inculcates occultic practices, couching them in Christian terminologies.

* It discourages hard work and despises a sense of responsibility. If I can sit back and claim something, why work? It is such a generation of Christians that should be reminded "if you do not work, you should not eat".

* It bellies sound biblical doctrines like Justification by faith, election, predestination, God's Sovereignty, Grace, etc. Doctrines that hinge exclusively on God alone. When you teach name and claim it; other biblical doctrines like those aforementioned no longer fit into your theology. So that at the end you begin to teach another gospel.

* Finally, name it and claim it, like WOF itself, is another gospel, propagated by another spirit and thus preaching another Jesus.

MY SUBMISSION ON F9: Name it.. Claim it... doctrine
I REST MY CASE ON F9.

In the thread by Tgirl4real on God speaking to people I answered two questions you directed at me. You have not indicated whether you understood those answers, if your question were answered at all or to even recognize the fact that I took some effort to answer those questions.

Until I see you do this I would assume that the questions you ask are not meant to find light for your understanding but to cast a stumbling block on the discussion. Thus, like with Image123, I do not have the time for individual like that. Scripture records Pharisees and Sadducees asking Jesus questions to "catch him in his words". "ordinance of man" indeed.

One would have thought that any careful reader will see that 1pet 2:13 was referring to civil laws governing nations.

Well, of course, if we accept "ordinances of man" as church rules to tithe, then the much vaunted free will tithing will be a sham and we would return to the real gist, which is that modern tithing scheme are "doctrines of men" or better still "ordinance of men"

nannymcphee: but I believe there are people who hear or know things from God maybe thru word of knowledge etc there are times ministers want to pray & they are able to know what to say or do at that point in time at the leading of Gods spirit, I personally haven't really had such encounters so I settle for what I have which is Gods word!!

Pls how do u explain those deliverance minister who are able to see/know what happened in the past that's causing the deliveree's present circumstance?? It could be as simple as revealing that the person was dedicated to an idol by their grandparent stuffs like that?

Thanks
Well I hope you got something from the last discuss I presented.

As to people who hear things; those who claim a word of knowledge; I would not disprove them. I have not had any such experience myself but I have had occasion I received clear impressions which when I worked on turned out to be God but these are still my experiences which are subjective. One of the things I discourage greatly is basing the Christian life on experiences. Recently I learnt two new terminologies along these lines: subjective and objective. Something is subjective when it's based on experiences, etc. Something is objective when its based on verifiable facts. The fact we should base all things in the Christian life on is the bible which is objective. Whatever experience we garner or anyone garners from even following the bible is subjective. Faith is standing on Gods objective statements in scriptures not on subjective experiences of men or even ours.

Now these men whom you claim to have word of knowledge or see things in deliverance are pentecostal ministers. They pervade every sphere of our lives now. They are the ones who have turned Christianity from a very objective faith to a subjective one. And this is grave error. So that rather than rest on the said word of God concerning life issues, Christians run from pillar to post looking for thus saith the lord; anointing; etc.

Now subjective issues can not be divorced from Christianity. When we walk with God, we would see him at work. But the anchor of our faith is in what he said in the bible not these things because what if we trust God and things don't work out, do we loose faith? No.

So let's approach a very practical matter. An individual is experiencing some oppression, maybe demonic and it's affecting his total well being. What do we do?

In our world today, the normal thing is to ship him off for deliverance, etc. But is this what's needed? The world that Jesus ministered in had a lot of demon possessed people bc their forefathers had been involved with occultism for centuries. Our own world is similar. The solution too many times requires a wholesome change and not a quick fix. If the individual is in a family, there maybe a need to access family history and ascertain the genuineness of the faith in this family. When this is certain. The individual should be led through counselling and if there has been sin there must be repentance. If the individual is not saved, he should be made to understand coming to Christ. Then the elders, like James 5 instructs, will gather and pray for him and the prayer of faith will heal the sick. Care must be taken that former lifestyle is not returned to. Rather individual must be integrated in the Christian community and discipleship begins.

I do not find a record of people gathering around demoniacs screaming themselves hoarse in the bible; where they see visions and hear voices. I do not know what informs it today and I do not recommend it.

The scenario I painted above is not stereotyped. God mostly will grant direction on what to do as we trust him and follow his leading in our hearts.

So trust your own walk with God. If it pleases him to give you subjective experiences. Fine. But don't preach them or use them as yardstick for a successful Christian walk. A successful Christian walk is a walk of faith only God can testify to at the end of our lives.

My greatest fear is that much of what goes around in our churches in the name of Pentecostalism are demonic activities. I have no proof of these. I only ask that Christians are wary of them. Know your bible; know your God; walk by faith; trust your God; and leave him to direct your path. Look not on others.

Shalom.

Goshen360: ^ On the rules guiding the presentation, I suggest we eliminate NUMBER ONE rules. The reason being, someone's topic might require him\her to give intensive teachings so we shouldn't limit them to 2000 - 4000 words. It shouldn't be limited to TWO posts. It can be broken down to smaller post, readable depending on the length of the presentation but it shouldn't be a long post in a single post to allow readability for those who don't like reading long post. However, it should be given a proper formatting on the text and more importantly, easy to read and not too long at a single post but can be presented in as many as teacher deem it fit. We should give freedom to the teacher's intensive teaching.

Every other guiding rules are okay.
OK Goshen. Your suggestion is fine with me.

But can I request we hear from some of the presenters themselves, what they think about the number of words. My fear is with monotony; the tendency for presentations getting too long and discouraging reading. I think giving limits to the number of words is not totally anti freedom.

Tgirl4real organized debates recently on the family section and limits where given to the number of words. It didn't hinder the presenters from making solid presentations.

The tithe tract I designed at first was just about 1,400 words and I think I got much of my argument out. What we might request is still to maintain some limits but give liberty to additions; though the presenter must state how much more words he/she needs to add.

Please let's hear what the presenters have to say since they are the ones doing the teaching. Then we can conclude.

Date of convention is still pending.

We are still sorting out the following:

1. Choosing topics by presenters. Which I request all presenters should hasten on.

2. Finalizing on rules and regulations. Which I request that all presenters should make their opinion known on because when the final rules are drafted, they will be binding on all.

3. Organizers will bring out a timetable for the convention after topics have been chosen. Program will cover three days with three presentations a day.

That's about all delaying us.

Thank you for the post. I had forgotten I was to present the names of our teachers formally.

OLAADEGBU: It's either you address the points raised on this thread or you forever hold your peace. angry
Maybe you should look at the post I made up there and discover the true meaning of "equivocating".

If in one breadth you support the notion that we should not observe the sabbath because it was a Jewish law but in another breadth, you bandy Malachi 3:10 about, a clear Jewish law and ordinance, what else is equivocating?

EQUIVOCATE

verb (equivocates, equivocating; past and past participle equivocated)

(intransitive) To use words of equivocal or doubtful signification; to express one's opinions in terms which admit of different senses, with intent to deceive; to use ambiguous expressions with a view to mislead; as, to equivocate is the work of duplicity.

To render equivocal or ambiguous.

OLAADEGBU: Will you address the points of the OP and stop equivocating? huh
Are you the OP?

I told the OP sometimes ago that he is incorrigible and a deceiver. I have nothing to address in his points here or anywhere else.

You should rather address the points raised on your numerous threads or shut up!
