I heard about this guy on NPR LINK. His story is inspiring, but I couldn't help but get annoyed that he is purposefully pronouncing his name wrong. What the he.ll is Shawn? Pronounce your name correctly, my friend. |
3D television is definitely going to be the next big thing. After watching Avatar in Imax 3D, I have to say I have never seen nothing comparable to 3D viewing. You feel like you are immersed right in the action. As much as I hate Sony, it looks like they are ready to take the lead in this one. That Lenovo IdeaPad is definitely going on my wishlist, and is surprisingly affordable. If I knew about it, I would have held out on my netbook purchase |
Seun, by the way, these your censors are retarded. And why are you only censoring in English? Why not Yoruba and Igbo as well? Complete utter nonsense. |
Nigeria shouldn't have to do anything to get off the terror list. We don't deserve to be on it anyway. Why should we allow the mighty U.S. treat us like dogs. Nigeria does not have a history of international terrorism. In this case, we have privileged young man, who happens to be a Nigerian national, but spent much of his life outside of Nigeria, and indeed was radicalized in either London or Yemen, but somehow that equates to Nigeria being a terrorist state. Give me a break. That sh.it doesn't add up. UK had the shoe bomber, and many others, yet they aren't on the list. Not to mention that Al Quaeda's English spokesperson, Adam Gadahn, is a white American man. They should be more concerned about homegrown or ally terrorism than terror from Nigeria. Nigeria might have a lot of problems, but honestly, most of Nigeria's criminals are about money not ideology. No normal Naija man would blow himself up for anything. The U.S is simply being discriminatory, and they put us on the list because Nigeria, for the most part is not a noteworthy country, so they don't care about offending us. Otherwise Britain would have been on the list as well. I think Nigeria should retaliate and put the United States on our own terror watch list and subject them to the same treatment that they subject us to. |

tpia.:No, it is not the word circle that makes it non square. The propeties of a circle are logically incompatible with the properies of a square, hence a square circle can not exist. By the same token, the properties of a Christian god (i.e. compassionate, omnipotent), and the atrocities that have taken place throughout history are logically incompatible, and hence contradict. And all that is beside the point anyway. The point was simply, to show alethia that there is such a thing as proof by contradiction. |
aletheia:There is nothing inconsistent about it. Have you not heard of proof by contradiction? As a simple example, if I want to prove the non-existence of a square circle, I would start out assuming that a square circle exists, and then use the definition of a circle to show that it is impossible. Hence I've proved the non-existence of a square circle. |
I advise that you learn the difference between advice and advise. |
The Religion Section just isn't very interesting without posters like Nferyn, and Reverend. Nferyn was a very bright guy who never lost an argument, and Reverend was just a trip. Too bad. |
Abeg, you religious freaks already have you own section. Carry your conversation go there. The guy talk him own, say Fela na God? And in your own opinion, your imaginary friend is the only true god. So what. When will you people realize not everyone in the world buys into your religious dogma. It's not by force. Back on topic, modern Nigerian artists are a joke. No one will remember D'Banj or any of the other yeye artists in ten years, talkless of 30. Nigerian musical and artistic creativity is just not what it use to be |
dipo2much:All the time when Eaglets have been carrying cup while fielding under-17s nko? Why does our sin bring reproach only this time? If anything it just proves that God does not reign in the affairs of football. If only Nigerians could get that through heir skulls. |
alias64:What the hell are you talking about? You are deluded if you honestly think that a significant amount of U.S time and money is devoted to Nigerian 419. LOL, what a joke. You'd be hard pressed to find any U.S. politician mention anything about Nigerian internet fraud, or Nigeria for that matter. Now to the contrary, Islam extremism is one of the major issues, and loads of money has been allotted to the so called 'War on Terror'. |
spoilt:That is funny, but very true. I remember how one of my JJC cousins was making mouth about how easy it was to drive here in Yankee. Day of driving test: the guy failed parallel parking, hit multiple cones, and could not brake at the marked line. |
You people are getting all excited over a story posted on some blog, by another Nigerian for that matter. Quite an overreaction. I think the whole 419 thing is overblown these days. Most of the high level internet scamming that is successful these days is coming from Eastern Europe (esp Russia) , as well as China. This scamming is carried out by 'well educated' individuals finding vulnerabilities and hacking into computer networks for banks, government organizations, and other institutions. Our local 'yahoo' boys that are still sending out communications in poorly written English and hoping for bait are not finding much success in the scamming business anymore. I don't think that we're even close to being the number one scamming nation on earth. Nobody sees a Russian and automatically thinks he/she must be a scammer. Nigerians should not have to deal with these negative stereotypes, especially given the facts. |
I love food, and I eat like a king. My key to staying fit is to work out as hard as I eat. For every excess plate of iyan & egusi I chop, I will swim 20 laps at the pool, or I must play soccer, b-ball, or go running for 30 mins. I enjoy working out as much as I do eating, so I just don't gain weight. I am 6 ft and have weighed 140 (+/- 5) lbs for the last 4 years. And I know the older I get, the less I can eat as my metabolism slows down dramatically, but at the point I won't care so much about appearance, but right now I am looking for wife. |
like someone else said, that has been posted before, but it is truly on of the funniest stand ups I've ever seen. |
you can always renounce your citizenship. I think you need to have taken up another citizenship, and then send a letter of renunciation to the Nigerian consulate embassy of the country in which you have taken citizenship. |
why the hell is this on the front page? This Seun, sef. :smh: |
Black_Revo:Are you sure about this? I'm guessing you mean 400m. In the 400m heats, Christine Ohuruogu (GBR) came in second in heats but the girl was born and bred in London, so Nigerians can't really be claiming her. Sanya Richards is of Jamaican parentage, and she came in 1st in 400m heats for U.S., but I didn't see any of recent Nigerian descent running for the U.S. |
grilling makes everything taste better. I do it whenever I can |
It's a good thing polygamy is legal in Nigeria |
While I find most of davidylan's posts laughable, you people are really swinging below the belt. Why would you post his photo and info on a public forum without his consent. Let's be mature, people. |
I specialize and casting out demons, and lucky for you I am also in the U.S. How much are you willing to pay me? |
manmustwac:I was being tongue in cheek. I don't actually believe in hell. |
manmustwac:Why won't God heal amputees? lol. I'd like to see our miracle believing Christians answer that one. |
bawomolo:Nope. All Buddhists and Hindus, unbekownst to them, have reserved a place for themselves in hell by the all merciful, jealous god. devil does not need to tempt them. ![]() |
Perhaps you should look up the definition of atheism. Atheists do not believe in a devil. |
I love the Yoruba language. Probably the most beautiful of all African languages I've heard. I went to Sunny Ade concert in New York last week wit some Yankee friends, and now they're all begging me to teach them Yoruba. |
Are you people really so credulous? That article was written in February, and no international news agency has picked it up. If the cure for diabetes was truly found, it would be headline news all over the world, not just on allafrica.com. Nigerians claimed to have found the cure to every terminal illness you can find in a textbook. Funny people, sha. |
Sky-walker:You must not understand the gravity of nuclear power. It is not something you play around with. While it can generate stable electricity, it can also pose grave danger to society. How is Nigeria prepared to handle a possible nuclear criticality situation? What does Nigeria plan on doing with spent nuclear fuel? It's good to be optimistic about your country, but you must also be practical in recognizing it's shortcomings. Nigeria is in no way ready for having any sort of nuclear reactor. It is a curse to the nation, not a benefit. |
proudly9ja:see this bush girl. how do Americans sound or type? enlighten us. |
