For starters, you create hyperlinks to link up the other pages. You create hyperlinks using the anchor tag <a></a>. I will recommend you take some time out to read the articles on html at www.w3schools.com |
Hurry baby, its an emergency! This brotha is not about to give up on your watch!! No, don't let that happen. |
^^ Sweerrat, now come to bed and fix the REAL problem, me!. |
Missy B: Like seriously this is you? Baby watchu doing hia?? Whatever happened to the good old days when you had problems and IM'd me going . . . "baby i need your help with . . . ." ![]() hmmmmm, well erm. . . cant help you here, you know where to get me if u need my help. terms and conditions apply. |
I don't understand you very well but why dont you try this page layout (header) (nav bar - if any) (left or right sidebar - if any) (main page - included file) (footer) This way you have everything on one page and can run a collabo of the GET method and if-elseif-else cycle in the mainpage area to include the right page that is requested for by a link. within the nav bar you can have something like <ul> <li><a href="?page=home">Home</a></li> <li><a href="?page=about">About<a></li> <li><a href="?page=contact">Contact</a></li> </ul> within the main page you then have something like <?php if($_GET['page']=="home" {include('pages/home.php');}elseif($_GET['page']=="about" {include('pages/about.php');}elseif($_GET['page']=="contact" {include('pages/contact.php');}else{include('pages/home.php');} ?> With this, I am putting all my pages in a sub directory called "pages" of the root directory. I am also putting all my content for the main page of the homepage in home.php the last else there will load up the home.php by default, that is when a user visits the site. Hope its clear somehow, i dont really know how to pass things accross easily but I'm hoping you've gotten my drift anyway. I have found this method of web development a lot easier to maintain than the traditional way of having multiple pages with the same content. |
bug24:Nothing do you, chop the money. ![]() lol Cant think of any effizy school in ph. Have you tried aladumo? As per livezilla, you just need to create a folder on ur server and upload the livezilla files unto it then connect to it from the windows based application. The installation process head dey touch at times. |
IMHO the domain name isn't the problem, its the purpose of the domain name. Most of the naijaxxxx.com and nairaxxxx.com sites are wannabe forums that almost never have any useful purpose, still others are just scripts people just throw into their public_html and run with no real purpose. We still have the ones that are facebook wannabes. , |
Good work! You don try out schools like Bereton, Archdeacon Brown, Showers (hope tht's the spelling), e.t.c? The only problem I am seeing with that Zopim is not being able to track visitors. I mean, visitors cannot provide info like email and stuff that you can use to contact them later. I think the dashboard is web-based. That sunday I was considering paying for it too, except for that draw back. Livezilla is an all round bad boy, and its totally free. Livezilla has a tight dashboard windows application. The only problem though is that it cannot be linked to yahoo IM and it doesn't have a Mobile version. Na there Zopim go hit am but I still prefer Livezilla. I will try out the Zopim fully before the end of the day. |
IBEXY:Twitter is for very jobless people and very serious people. I fall in neither of 'em categories. Facebook too. I still have a facebook account cuz I have to upload my photo albums of do-it-yourself dismantling of electronics. The tweeting idea has never made sense to me. You just waste time and blab, people "follow" you and blab as well. At the end its all blabs. No offense intended to any tweeter, just talking my mind. |
^^then drop it like its hot. |
Mardi Gras:Not the normal notepad I told you to use ![]() Its Notepad++. Google it. Its possible to use the normal notepad but notepad++ adds some plus plus to the notepad . Syntax coloration, line numbers, ability to work on two files side by side in different panes but same window. You still have to do all the typing, it doesn't have a design view (thankfully that makes is paper weight).Oga Bug, That application makes sense. I prefer Livezilla to Zopim though. No be me submit that form o! Na on Sunday I check the site. |
Thanks, how easy was the loading on your browser? Its really a good thing I uploaded my work thus far. Was working this morning on Notepad++ when my second LCD was hit by surge and tripped off the whole machine. I turned it back on and a file with about 2000 lines of code was showing me just one line of code with a long string of "NULL"s. . The big question, didn't I have a backup? I DID but long story. I will just pull the file from the one I uploaded.Well 3 days and nights' worth of coding gone down the drains in my very before. |

Thanks guys ![]() |
Anyone has any method he/she uses to accomplish this? The scenario is I have a php document containing some variables and I need to do some calculations in a seperate javascript file using those php variables. I have already achieved this but I am trying to optimize my codes so i'm looking to know if there's a better way anyone has of doing this. Here's how I do it. I use html as the bridge. I include the php document into html and pass the variables into hidden form fields <input type="hidden" value ="<?php echo $variable1 ?>" id = "variable1" /> In javascript I now get the variable from the hidden field in the html. var variable1 = parseInt($('#variable1').val()); And then I can do any math I want. Now imagine crossing about a hundred variables from php to javascript through my kinda bridge! That's too many kids on the bridge!! I know there must be a better way, any ideas? |
I spent more than that chyking the babe that helped free ya id. |
Forum, I used SMF at one time and knew my ways around tweaks and mods but not anymore. Its been long and SMF just loves to update things. What do you want exactly? Google adsense, no not really I'm more of an adwords person (the opposite of adsense). Thanks about the info on the load time, for the images. |
my money nko ![]() |
Me thinks bug was just high yesterday. It has cleared today and he musta fixed his problem. Lesson: Dont drink and derive codes ![]() |
Bug your ID should be free now. He didn't come online all day yesterday, had to go through someone else. |
Was just talking my mind sha. LoL, I had fun also and laughed a good deal, especially at that "dobo mayana" kid's pic. As for my serious opinion on this marko. I dunno jor, make the guy/boy/girl carry go. |
Beautiful coincidence. My Dreamweaver CS 5 just crashed now while working with it. This is actually the first project I have worked on since I got the CS 5 and its crashed mid-way . Well in comparison with notepad++. dreamweaver didn't save my development time (i still have to type the very same amount of codes), it just made traversing through files easy. I'm strolling back to my Notepad++ . Now I'll need a second monitor. My point: Dont rely on these IDEs (e.g dreamweaver). Let them rely on you. Mardi Gras:I'm not against your using dreamweaver in its entirety. Just dont look for short-cuts in it. You may want to stay away from the "design view" and make the "code view" your home view. |
There are many ways that can be done. I use padding, margins and floats in CSS. The dilemma you are facing today is what I faced years back when I started this thing and was stuck with dreamweaver. There's a particular attribute you will set for the layer and it becomes draggable and droppable just anywhere you want it. I saw that and thought that was the best thing tht had happened to me that day, being able to put things just where I want them. Well I previewed the page and found out that the friggin layer has a life of its own. It wont re-position itself if i change the size of the browser. With notepad or any other editor (in fact with CSS), you do not have the luxury of using your mouse to drag n drop things. However you have pixel-point precision and accuracy as to where you want things to be. Useful things to google: The "CSS box model". Positioning with CSS. Also do well to look at this user's posts and threads in this section: Lanbaba |
Brother, thanks once again. If you dont have suggestions, you can move on and rest assured your opinion has been seen. @every other member, my point still stands on how i want things done. So feel free to make suggestions. |
^^ He echoes things. A developer can't get lost in a RAD tool. That's the reason for the suggestion I have given. |
remoranger:As I had clearly stated in my first post (which I'm having doubts you read completely). Thanks for your time to comment though. This one goes out to everyone and for this and other review threads I may be creating. Don't come in here and say its good or its bad without reasons or suggestions of making it better. This is a review, I need very constructive suggestions as to what you think and how it can be better. I cant finish the entire site and be asking for reviews on making it better, that's like completing a house before asking your friends to see if they like it and if there are changes that can be made to the design of the house. |
Hey guys, thanks. Actually replied you two ages ago but the bot's ways are weird. |
