The building is about done and now the trophies can start coming in. Guess who we'll be knocking off their perch soon? tongue

Anyone who blames Arsene about development of English talent is just having a laugh. Is it Arsene who told Bothroyd to fling his shirt at a coach as a 19 year old? abi he is the one who will stop Randall from reporting late to training in a League 2 club (despite putting him on the first team bench as a 17 year old) or pennant from drink driving?
Debo, you know this oyibo boys wella even Jack who looks serious still needs some kain aladura prayers not to miss his way.
Arsene has tried his best, if he had an agenda against English players, he wouldn't even let them show their stuff as teenagers and get them involved in the first team. I'm happy guys like Wilshere, Gibbs and Lansbury look set to vindicate him.

I see yur point, but yu've still got to give credit to the policy and how much its saved the club. The current true value of the squad is definitely much more than the cost but its still credit to the manager to have built up such a squad with relatively minimal outlay without sacrificing the footballing principles and maintaining a top 4 position at all times.

Thanks for the work put in my brother, this is what some blockheads on this forum have not been able to understan.d.  grin

When we talk about the Arsenal youth project, this is what we mean and this is the way forward which is why UEFA is now giving Arsenal a lot of credit.

The most impressive thing is that on the list, 7 out of 11 players came to Arsenal before they clocked 18.
Szczesny, Djorou, Clichy, Walcott, Song, Wilshere and Fabregas, and some mumpties will still come out and argue that Arsenal have no youth policy?  undecided

Fabianski out for the season in bizarre circumstances, saved a shot from Szczesny while warming up against Citeh. If this was in Naija, they would have said there is some 'Jazz' involved.  grin grin grin

No wonder why they didn't sell Almunia in the transfer window.

I'm quite happy Chelsea didn't get Lukaku though, that would have been ominous for other clubs.

I wonder why some people don't read beyond sensational headlines and writer's opinions. If Wenger is asked about Financial fair play and chelsea's spending what do you expect him to say?

That they did well and are the model for sustainability? with a 70m loss after a double winning year and another 70m expenditure after that with no visible increase in turnover? If you go and ask people within the chelsea hierarchy sef they would be stupid to pat their own backs.

Lets wait and see the outcome of the expenditure first, na Abramovic get him money and they've been able to convince him to splurge again, lets see how much he gets back or how much he'll be writing off again in the coming years.

The voyuer at it again.

Dudu what do you have to say about the item in bold? That means Arsenals hopes of catching up has been dashed and another decade of trophylessness beckons
I think not, IF they continue spending (and thats a big IF) the destination of trophies still won't be as lopsided as it was in the past cos our youth policy is now far advanced (see Barcelona and RM at present as an example). We'll continue to churn out dem players (winning some trophies along the way) cos we are now known for it and the best young players around want to come to Arsenal (see Chamberlain for example) while Chelsea will continue to 'je gbese' with a smaller trophy return now that there is another bull in the china shop called Citeh.

I think Kos is more in the mold of a Rio than a Vidic. . . He's a lot less physical but more cerebral.
True that, adapts well to the person he is marking and anticipates more than trying to recover. But quite a tough customer too as he shows at both ends of the pitch. A fine blend I think.

There at things I look for in a player, for a defender concentration and a strong mentality is key. Koscielny has both in loads and that is why I always believed in him even when he seemed to wobble initially. He is hardly fazed by anything and his head never drops. As better physically as Djorou is, the one place he loses out to Kos for me is in concentration. Koscielny is always switched on and despite his relatively small size is a warrior.
He is well on the way to be our Vidic type player and I'm sure he'll give us good times.

Its amazing the way people have selective amnesia when Arsenal is being discussed. If I'm not mistaken, Manure also made heavy weather of it qualifying against a League one team too and no one ever said a word than to praise their spirit of fighting back, against a League 1 side o.

Meanwhile I dey expectantly await Arsenal reporting record profits again.
