Between now and 1st of February, we have 5 games. That's 5 games in 2 weeks!
Leeds, Wigan, Ipswich, Huddersfield (if we beat Leeds in rd 3) and Everton. Really tight schedule.
Na our squad players cause am, we should have had just 4.

Say what you have to say about Fabianski though,i noticed he has a great distribution and best calming,"time wasting" antics within our rank.
Also great to see the back of Eboue.Dude is such a joke and i think it is high time we started thinking of bringing in another back up RB.
That is one key area in which he is ahead of Szczesny at present.

A lot of credit to Koscielny today, he did not put a foot wrong, he may not be yur typical bruising physical defender but he is one yu wld want when yu go up against the likes of Barcelona. Key interceptions and good anticipation of danger yet again.
There is something important Wilshere brings to that role beside Song apart from being able to pass out from deep, he brings some aggression which is lacking in Denilson and Diaby, its something we seem to have lacked in MF since the exit of Flamini.

If Cesc, RVP, Nasri and Theo are fit then I wouldn't be so scared when we go up against Barca, yes one would still expect them to edge it but I wouldn't be so scared of another lesson in passing and possesion football as we got last season and definitely not another goal rout at the Camp Nou.

Szczesny made that save when we needed it earlier.
RVP definitely MOM today.

Actually Makoun has not gone to pieces yet like Geremi.  grin grin he still looked quite good during the Emirates cup.
but I still believe in our youth players being given the opportunities because we've spent so much in getting them and also developing them, except they really mess up big time I think it is in the best interest of the club to give them opportunities.

How many people will come on here and eat their words about the Melo/Song debate?  undecided or even the Szczesny/Fabianski and new keeper signing debate of last season?

Coquelin was doing extremely well at Lorient prior to picking up an injury recently and should definitely get an opportunity to contest for a first team position next season while so many, self included believe if not for his unfortunate injury, Frimpong would be ahead of Denilson by now just as Wilshere is cos he and Lansbury have that high tempo element to their game that we've largely lost with the exit Flamini.

@Debo
The comparison with getting Squllaci doen't really apply cos we lost 3 CBs and were in need of immediate replacements, we haven't lost any MFs in fact we've gained 1 (Wilshere) and are well on track to gain at least 2 more (Lansbury and Coquelin) who have had significant playing time and impact on loan and are coming into the right age bracket to play their way into the first team.

Good signing if it goes through, Sessegnon to Sunderland would be a shrewd move by Bruce too and would have been a great buy for us but when will Coquelin, Frimpong and Lansbury ever play if we sign either of them?

Slim, that is why I say IMO and remember it was only one game but abeg Nasri was in his element on that day, showed everything yu want from such an advanced playmaker, the next game he played in that role I also remember he was quite underwhelming so I'll still go for Cesc's consistency for now, but the way Nasri has taken to a wide forward role this season convinces me he can excel in the role Cesc plays if he gets the opportunity, I think he can actually be better than Cesc at it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by duduspace(m): 3:57pm On Jan 14, 2011
I absolutely love Cesc and he is very important to the way we play (and like Dr. Kit pointed out that is something of Arsene's making) having said that, against Ipswich he was piss poor and owes us a big one in the return leg.

As to the importance of Cesc, Kit has a point in saying Nasri can play the role (I distinctly remember him playing that role better than Cesc ever played it IMO against Porto last season), it however remains to be seen if he can carry that burden consistently as Cesc has shown he can.
A young Rosicky at his prime also possibly could but not the Rosicky we see nowadays.

If Cesc does leave as we are continuously being reminded I wouldn't be scared cos I believe Nasri is a candidate for that role in waiting and he will bring certain attributes that even Cesc doesn't have to that role.

Simple Questions for you to answer my man, If money indeed is not important,

1. Why is UEFA now talking about money and singling Arsenal out as a model for others to follow? why not hold up Chelsea, Manure, Real Madrid or even Barca as a model of how a club should be run if like you say its only about how many trophies you win.

2. Why the fall of those clubs mentioned above? all within the same period of 10 years?

3. If Chelsea made more than Arsenal pre Abramovic, why is it making less despite all the free money Roman put in to buy all those quality players and despite winning all those trophies? (mind you the money Abramovic has put in is even more than the cost of the Emirates, almost double in fact).

Now can you answer those questions as simply as I asked them? and please keep in mind my disclaimer above so we don't get issues mixed up.

The main issue for me is this, has Arsenal progressed under Arsenal and the Board's watch in the past 10 years? I say a capital YES, if you disagree with that assertion, can you put your facts on board to back it up?

For those who seem to believe Arsene is the worst thing to happen to Arsenal in the past Decade, please chew on this courtesy of UEFA, the part in bold is particularly revealing.
From the 2011/12 season, UEFA regulations will force clubs to break-even over a rolling three-year period or risk a possible ban from European club competitions. And the governing body believe Arsenal have set a standard for others to follow.

"Ten years ago Arsenal reported less income than Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle," said Gianni Infantin, UEFA's General Secretary. "Now it is more than those clubs and in 2009 more than double Newcastle's.
DISCLAIMER: This has nothing to do with the result of our match against Ipswich but rather a call for reflection as some people love to state things that are untrue about our progress under Arsene and the board's watch.

I was only saying it aint over yet, the lads have usually come through at crunch time so far this season. It seems they are choosing the games in which they wobble as ones for which recovery is still possible and while it is frustrating for us fans, it might not be bad for us in the long run.
In the past, we used to run our best players into the ground playing them almost all the time but this season Arsene is rotating more early on with some mixed results as some of the squad players are just not stepping up. It also helps put those who are set for the chop between now and the summer in the shop window and I can see people are already makin their lists of who they want gone.  grin

Duduspace,

Your attempt to sound smart is very embarrasing.

Simple. WHat has Wenger done in the decade or what consistency does he have over SAF or Mourinho

In their respective leagues SAF and Mourinho were 1st 6 times out of 10 Wenger was first 2 times out of ten WHICH ONE IS CONSISTENT of the three.

Has there been any season Mourinho or SAF was out of top 3 in those ten yrs? But I remember Wengar being out of top 3 in the time frame.

In that time frame, Mourinho played 4 CL semi finals won 2, Fergie played 3 CL semi finals won 1, Wenger played 2 CL semi finals won 0.

Now tell me how is he more consistent than Fergie or Mourinho
I sincerely hope this is sarcasm? is this award Dayokanu's World Coach of the Decade or the International Federation of Football History & Statistics World Coach of the decade award? are yu claiming to have more data than people who have been gathering statistics since before you stopped wearing pampers? if thats what yu're saying then methinks yu need to disregard Amy's advice and say YES to Rehab.  tongue

I repeat that the criteria for the award is very clear and I've already pointed it out, this award is not about who has won the number of trophies, if yu're still gettin it twisted I'll ask you a simple question.

Is it possible to win the Formula 1 World Championship without being champion on any track? I repeat that you can only question the criteria for the award and anyone can if they so desire but to say Arsene doesn't deserve to win it and that it doesn't represent CONSISTENCY is (if I'm being very nice) pretty daft.
