@A-40
Arsene is being careful with DJ, have you forgotten last season so soon. He has said that he is protecting both RVP and DJ. We shouldn't be pruning and grafting too much though, lets overtake Manure first of all and then we can start playing whoever we want.

On another note, Ryo Miyaichi our highly anticipated chinko ambassador signs off in Japan with a goal and an assist in Japan's High School soccer tournament prior to coming over to London Colney. I should point out that they lost 4-2 despite going into the break leading 2-1.

and here is what we can expect from him as he represented Japan in the FIFA 2009 U17 in our obodo Nigeria, me likes a lot what I be seeing, a winger who regularly gets to the byline with pace and puts in good balls into the box.

Happy New year to all Gooners as well as our haterz, loverz and the confused folks like DK, the Mods, Muki in particular who we've not been seeing much of lately prolly due to her engaging in some other extra-curricular activities. May this year be full of Joyful drinking at Mama Nasiru's joint and may there be no pouring of Libation in honour of anyone this year. Much love to y'all

Good game to welcome us back into the new year, 3 goals, 3 points and a clean sheet to boot. Here is hoping the team finally realises its promise this year.

I was only responding to your claim which suggested that the team was good enough to beat Wigan cos of the strength in depth.
But you were proven wrong once again. You believed you would beat Wigan mercilessly with that team.

We made one change . . . and so? What was your point?
Fergie has made 10 changes before and nothing happened.
I trust yu just dey find my trouble, No team is guaranteed of a win though. This league is so tight this season but we often shoot ourselves in the foot. That team was strong enough to beat Wigan.

@Debo
I'm with you partly on Chamakh, he has been an astute addition and settled quickly. With RVP's performance against Chelsea though, he bumped Chamakh down a bit IMO and gave us a glimpse of what injury has been denying us. Chamakh also looks a bit off form at present but he is not deserving of all the barbs aimed at him, he has been excellent for us.

We made 8 changes but still had a lot of internationals and experienced players (some of who had won things in previous clubs) out there on the pitch or what poo exactly are you chatting? Manure made just 1 change and still drew at St. Andrews.

Does it mean u was't at easy with your strenght in depth without massive spending in the MF.?
On paper and in almost every other way, that team was strong enough to beat Wigan and almost did too. The key word is the combination of players in the MF not the quality of the players.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (R.I.P Bawomolo). by duduspace(m): 12:00am On Dec 30, 2010
Not a good result but not a bad game either. I can understand Arsene resting some folks but I wasn't at ease on seeing a MF of Rosicky, Denilson and Diaby, too many players lacking in agression and confidence or just basically off form. It took Jack coming in to bring some life into the MF. What exactly has happened to Rosicky? another candidate to be let go of in January or the summer?
Koscielny unlucky yet again with the penalty but I still believe is the most sensitive to dangerous situations of all our defenders. Well, we lost this last season and I'd gladly take a point to keep us in the thick of things. Now bring on what should be a tough game at St. Andrews, only we seem to be excelling at those in recent times.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Wigan Vs Arsenal On Wednesday, 29th Dec; 8.45pm by duduspace(m): 8:36pm On Dec 29, 2010
Team list is out with massive changes:

IN: Arshavin, Chamakh, Bendtner, Rosicky, Diaby, Denilson, Eboue, Squillaci
OUT: RVP, Theo, Nasri, Fabregas, Wilshere, Song, Clichy, Djorou

This is almost an entirely different team, what strength in depth we've now got and without massive spending too.

Seriously?
On present form and current ability as a Wing forward, I wld pick him ahead of Theo as I would Adam Johnson and maybe broken legged Valencia of Manure if he were fit, thats likely to change as Theo grows though, all the signs are promising. Imagine Theo at Wigan and  Nzogbia at Arsenal and yu'll see what I mean.

Don't take it as a slight on Theo, its exactly the same reason why I wld pick Scott Parker and Kevin Nolan ahead of Diaby at present, they turn up every week and do the business being the difference for their teams while Diaby at present just can't get any sort of consistency going.
When I was raving about Walcott at the start of the season una think say I don dey madt! Dude is fast becoming the scourge of Chelsea! Duduspace berra bring your blackface here and come and apologize!
I actually gave yu that apology a long time ago at the beginning of the season I think after the blackburn game. He has even gone on since then and yesterday seems to be a sorta coming of age performance showing he can cut it at any level against any left back (I'm sure most PL LBs will be peeing their pants now when they see his name on the team sheet after what he did to the English media's annointed best LB in the world)  grin grin . I always felt his problem was that he had grown up as a central player used to using only his pace, once he saw how his pace could be applied appropriately from the wings and discarded the English establishments agitations for Arsene to play him central, he turned a corner. Anyone who writes off these young lads does so at his own risk and I almost fell foul of my own advice.  grin grin

I however must clarify my apology, Theo still largely frustrates me cos I think he could still be a lot better and TBH, I still believe someone like Nzogbia on present ability and form in that position as a wide forward would perform better (but definitely not Lennon and Young) but the boy has done well and I wouldn't change him for anyone now, the only person contesting that position with him now is Arshavin, never again wld I want to see Eboue or Rosicky playing that role except we are injury decimated. Theo always had something different, its seems now he's finally figured out how to put it to good use.

Believe me,our pressing game/defending from the front played a big role in the victory. How do you think we came bout those 2 goals in quick succession? We harried them like we did Everton last season at their ground.
Spot on assesment, I think thats the importance of having a big enough squad quality wise so yu can atimes rest players without losing overall quality. We might have the postponed matches in part to thank for this win as our players seemed physically up for it.

Leave story. . . .did you see when Clichy had the ball ALL ALONE in the first half and just gave it away to a Chelski attacker?
What about the second half when he had the ball cleanly, but still gave it back to DD and then had to foul him? huh
He played a bit better I admit, but the boy's self inflicted errors are still unbelievable.
Honestly, I wanted to enter the TV and go beat him at that point, total madness if yu ask me, how can yu play yurself into trouble like that?  undecided
Did yu see the time he also left Kalou to put a cross into the box and Song had to concede a corner?

Special mention must go to the entire MF too, at a stage I was wondering if both Lampard and Essien were on the pitch, Wilshere and Song were just dominating in the middle, I'm still coming to terms with how much better an 18 year old JW is than a 22 year old Denilson, that combination of aggression and finesse has been lacking, the way the boy is going he actually might even be ahead of a fully fit Diaby in the pecking order of MFs.

JD was immense, Drogba turned him only once and even then he made sure it was a free kick and not a break .
Kos was OK till the goal and I I think this dude should be converted to a DF where his mistakes wouldn't be that telling.Plus he his comfortable with the ball at his feet and his distribution isn't that bad.
Yu saw that ball right thru the MF to RVP which led to the 2nd goal. Kos is a good defender, his anticipation is spot on, both he and Squillaci have been good buys IMO. Drogba's delivery was just spot on and its not easy for any defender to stop Ivanovic that way.

Chelsea is now getting into the situation Arsenal got to about 2006/07, I'm not sayin yur evolution will exactly mirror ours but the time has come to refresh/renew your team. Honestly, this Chelsea team is past its peak, I personally expected what is happening now to have happened last season but experience and squad depth won out in the end and they got a last hurrah.
It is clear, Roman is not going to put in as much money as he did in the past, so yur boys had better grow up fast, the earlier people like McEachran and Kakuta start getting games the better. Yu'll pay for it with points but it will pay yu in the long run. You now have to start the balancing act Arsene had to put up with for the past 5 years balancing the books and staying competitive.
