eldee:eldee, abeg don't get on my case. Its not my fault I wasn't born with a silver spoon nah. I'm still sharpening my wooden fork. |
debosky:Actually yu're wrong about about some of that but I won't tell you which. ![]() eldee:Actually I no dey fight too, but that BS statement was a bit strong, just thot to reply in kind. and the statement about Messi was that he had the potential to come close to Messi but for some reason wasn't actualising it, I'm not sure I was the one who brought that up but I sure agreed with it.debosky:Nah, that would be more like the Cygan comparison. A more apt parallel would be Martin Lawrence is Will Smith without the looks. But who needs Will Smith's face if you can rhyme like Biggie, are smooth like Snoop and ![]() |
tkb417:Remember yu're one year into that already or yu're counting the Carling cup as a major trophy? ![]() |
debosky:And he did that with signings like Bebe? ![]() I'm amazed a Gooner can say this Debo, do you have that much little faith in your own club? is it these Manure reserves players our U18s are beating everyday that will suddenly become PL rulers? Manure have been successful by Spending, not at the level of chelsea definitely but spending none the less to augment an already good squad which still had proven performers like Giggs/Scholes/Neville who are now aging and less of a force, I'm amazed you can't see this. Now they will need to spend even more to turn the tide and I'm not so sure they have it with 80m sized losses already without any major players purchased. |
@tkb417 Don't get me wrong, anyone predicting the end of Manure is totally off the point, afterall some prince from Saudi can still come in and make the club debt free anyway. Besides even our much maligned arsenal has not come to an end has it? with the way things are evolving however it seems yu lot might have to make do without silverware for some time. At least that is what I see with the present team you've got when Rooney leaves. How quickly you're able to reverse things depends on the quality of players brought in. I personally believe they won't be Bebe like signings. |
eldee:If you also are too brain fatigued to see the irony in my original post then go take a nap, I wonder if you are so full of BS that you see it in everything you behold. |
eldee:You like to nitpick too much. ![]() How tall was Zidane? was he a small player? are you saying Zidane wasn't mobile or couldn't seamlessly transition from defense to attack with some outrageous skill or just plain physical power? can Cygan protect the ball with his body and keep possesion like Diaby or Zidane can? When I say mobile and having the legs to cover the pitch, I don't mean dashing around like Flamini, Edgar Davis or Gattuso, cos Diaby doesn't do that as well. Some players glide and make it look easy but they still cover the pitch effectively and dictate play. |
eldee:Lai lai, he doesn't have the touch, the dribbling ability or the engine or legs to cover the pitch, You would have a good player no doubt but not a MF in the class of Zidane abeg. Diaby has every other thing you want from in an exceptional footballer apart from delaying his final pass and some ridiculous decision making. Diaby often looks to me like a younger Okocha atimes aside from lacking Jay Jay's set piece delivery ability. |
debosky:In both abeg, had no issues scoring my foot how many goals in the UCL so far after 3 games? United still has one of the best defenses, it is the fact that they are failing up front and in the MF particularly that the back is now looking shaky. Regression is gradual but you can already see the trends if not arrested soon by quality signings. Do you know since when I've been harping on about the fact that they can't depend on Scholes and Giggsy for ever? do you really think a MF where Anderson or Carrick is the lynchpin and an attack of Chicharito and Macheda can win the PL anytime soon if for example Berba is injured for as long as RVP often is? even Rooney and CR9 took all of 3 seasons to get there and they were of exceptional quality. As far as I'm concerned, Rooney leaving is the end of an era at Manure similar to Henry finally leaving us, only that he is not as loyal as Henry was. Fergie can definitely still turn it around but it will take time and money. I hope they'll be given time by their fans and if well managed money shouldn't be a problem. But to say there aren't testing times ahead at OT would be hiding from reality. |
debosky:Diaby frustrates every one even those of us who back him but that he is a talented player isn't questionable hence my reason for musing about doing a brain graft with Cesc to get a Zidanesque player. Every other thing you want in a player, Diaby has got and it makes you wonder why he can't get his decision making right or why he isn't driven like the likes of Theo, Cesc and even young Jack to approach a game purposefully most of the time. Seems he is content to coast in his comfort zone. |
debosky:The only thing we can all agree upon is that it reduces the quality of the team as it is at present and that is not a good thing. |
StarBoard:Why shouldn't it? potential is usually picked up by people in the immediate vicinity in subtle ways. There is a reason why some of us who knew Wilshere at 16 could see his quality before every one picking on it now and there is a reason Rooney and CR9 played and made an impact at Euro 2004 as 18 year olds. And could you count those 11 players who never made an impact and let me show you a concurrent number or even more who never made it at Manure with Fergie also. FYI, did those 11 players you claim had potential in Arsenal also make their NT bows or compete in the Euros or World cup as teenagers? There is actualisation of potential and failure in actualizing potential but before you get to all that you've got to show the potential in the first instance, at present there is nothing Bebe has shown that resembles any potential at all apart from being bought by Manure and that is what I question. StarBoard:Now, this is really bigoted, who are you to set a player's expectation for him or to determine what is satisfying to him or not? what is good for the goose is good for the gander, if y'all say Cesc has a right to question Arsenal then Rooney also has a right to question Manure or move if he feels his expectations aren't been met. Its called player power, get used to it. |
Emperoh:All those players you mention grew up within the club. Giggs signed a contract with Manure at 17 and was tearing up defences with his pace soon after. This Bebe gamble has no basis for optimism whatsoever, the only thing its riding upon at present is the simple belief that Fergie must know what he is doing. Emperoh:Nani has always been a maverick player and had a quality development path through Benfica and the Portuguese age group ranks, does that sound like Bebe to you? Emperoh:I'm not the only one spewing doom as you say, its your best player painting a very bleak picture. ![]() |
StarBoard:@Starboard I understand potential, infact dare I say that I consider myself a reasonable judge of potential, I believe players can always surprise but I can assure you with the little I've seen of Bebe and his pedigree while developing, I am almost tempted to put a bet on him not amounting to anything. Both Rooney and CR9 were teenage prodigies (both of them were established NT members as teenagers at 18 my guy) while Bebe was plying his trade in the 3rd division at almost 20 and never represented his country until Manure bought him, in this world of technology I find it hard to believe that a true gem was hidden for so long. I can almost bet my life on it that Bebe can never come close to those guys, but then who knows? life is always full of surprises. I also believe like you that it is not a player's place to question the direction of his club like Rooney has done but most of Manure supporters were telling us Cesc was right to be leaving us because we haven't won trophies in the misguided belief that this was the sole reason a player would ever consider leaving a club, Rooney is only projecting ahead and leaving before the evil day arrives. |
@TKB417 Comparing CR9/Rooney to Bebe/Smalling as youths is like comparing reinforcement rod with indomie noodles. You should be very worried that Fergie is now buying players without watching them play, no empire lasts forever o. |
dayokanu:Past glories like doing a double last season, current misfortunes like being 10 points behind the current leaders in your league, compare your position with that of Chelsea/RM/Barca and yu'll know what I mean. Like they say, mediocrity creeps in gradually until it approaches the event horizon ![]() |
ritchboy:Prophets are not usually recognized in their cities, instead of Debo to wake up and prostrate at my doorstep every morning he wants to go on pilgrimage to OT. Dont mind the yeye boy. ![]() |
Chuckdee4!! Ol boy where have you been? Who would pop up next? Banderas? @Duduspace Stop gassin urself and Diaby up! His control and technique are just a lil above average plus I find it laughable that you compare that nucca to Zidane! Zidane! Do you watch other leagues at all? A player at almost 25 is struggling with decision making and you feel he is all that. Go and watch peeps like Ozil,Pastore,Hernanes,Hamsik,Kroos if you have watched these guys play (all younger) you would not sit here and tell me Diaby's technique and control is top-notch
Did you read the post or you just want to vent? can you quote where I compared him to Zidane? if you can't understand irony then go take a nap abeg. ![]() In technique, Diaby is as good as they come, his decision making is what lets him down, try to distinguish between the two. Its the same as Theo having all the speed in the world but running into dead ends most of the time when he could probably have been tearing Premier league defences apart like Owen back in the days. They are 2 players with some unique abilities but not an overall rounded game that gives them the X factor on a consistent basis, hence why I find both of them frustrating and come down hard on them atimes while secretly praying that they get it all together while playing for us. Of all those you mention up there, the only ones who are at or higher than Diaby's level right now are Ozil and Hamsik and I would only rate them higher in terms of decision making and offensive impact in a game cos you can depend on them to deliver the final pass and keep the MF ticking. When the others start doing it consistently at the top level then you can start mouthing off about them. I absolutely love Kroos, followed him since the 2007 U17s and see him as a ready replacement for Ozil with possibly an higher upper limit but he is definitely not at Diaby's level at present, haven't you thought maybe one of the reasons Bayern are not doing well so far this season and why DK can only revel in past glories nowadays is his adjustment to more responsibilities? |
I understand tkb, I would fight my team's corner too but there are definitely interesting times ahead for Manure with the financial and football related issues, this Rooney wahala is a massive blow but the most critical one is if Fergie decides to call it quits, that would be GBENGEN. |
Ibime:Aint we blessed? we just dey churn dem out, I don tell you say our factory is in full swing, you neva see nothing. ![]() Coquelin is out on loan and I've been able to catch only 1 of his matches on a stream but he is gradually getting into their first team at Lorient. I never rated eastmond cos I knew both Coquelin and Frimpong were better and younger. At U18 level Eastmond was a RB and Frimpong, Wilshere and Coquelin ran the MF basically steamrolling any team they met at their age level enroute to winning the U18 and youth cup double. Most people underestimate the strength of our academy, for example JET was a guaranteed starter at this same Blackpool team now in the PL while on loan there last year as an 18 year old, you think I don't have a reason for being optimistic about our future? ![]() slimshay:Don't get me wrong Slim, I don't mean that Aneke is the one to be replacing Denilson, just that the team is getting stacked infact that is why we are now trying players in different positions at reserve level. The problem with Denny is with him being overtaken by Rambo and Wilshere. A 22 year old knocking 23 should be playing and not being benched by an 18 and 19 year old. I fear for a lot of our young players now, even Vela who is one of my favorites might be shipped out soon. We have created a good problem for ourselves but a lot of hearts will be broken when some of these players have to leave for their own good. Do you know at a time they were trying to convince JET to become a center back I'm sure Doki will almost burst a vessel if he hears that. ![]() |
slimshay:The problem is that even with Rambo out to injury, Denny is not getting games, for someone who played over 38 games 2 seasons ago, that can't be too comfortable. Denny is definitely a better MF than Henri no doubt but Lansbury has unique attributes (English grit and overall well rounded attacking and defensive ability). Denilson might only have a future here if Capt Fantastic leaves (after winning something with us hopefully) next summer, the MF is getting congested and we need to make space for the next generation of the likes of Aneke. |
tkb417:If Rooney weren't such a high profile player, they would but he is too important for England and such a quality player for them to be so petty in approaching the issue. He holds the strong cards and seems to have his mind made up. Manure can only try to get the best deal out of it that they can, he should be out by January. |
tkb "ewo'n te pe?" are you missin the boy already? Some more bad news for you guys is this rumor I'm hearing that there is a 30% sell on clause for Everton when you sell him. I haven't verified it but if it is true, then you will be making money for Everton by selling him on for a large sum. This whole wahala doesn't pay Manure at all. Player power is upsetting the mighty Manure. ![]() |
@Duduspace Diaby's technical ability is average at best when you consider he is almost 25. Save for his size I really really don't see what that nucca brings to the table at times
Average ke Diaby's touch and control is excellent and he is one of those you can trust to get past an opposing player in a one v one situation. His one and only problem is his slow decision making and atimes languid style. Just go watch him physically, you'll be amazed. Even Chamakh pointed it out that he was surprised at Diaby's technical ability when he came to Arsenal. If Diaby could have 3/4 of Cesc's decision making ability, we'll have a Zidane in our hands. |
debosky:Deeeeboo, yu too get story for mouth. This is now the official version. ![]() where is DK by the way? I thot he would have started his wahala by now. |
debosky:If that is what you want to believe you're welcomed, only the Glazers won't show you the books, you think its easy to spend the money they've been spending on wages and transfers? siddon there. how 500m debt became 750m debt within 5 years needs some explanation. It is not only the LBO gbese. No worries when Kasala bursts like Liverpool all will be revealed and our eyes will see it. |
tkb417:You have a point here but what you fail to see is that the dynamics changed at that point of chelsea's emergence, Manure and Fergie still went ahead to compete with Chelsea by spending, Hargo/Carrick/Berba were all above 15m signings while even the likes of Anderson/Nani cost 15m and you kept your old lot Giggs, Scholes and co. We, had decided we couldn't compete with money and opted for our youth policy while selling off Vieira/Henry/Gilberto e.t.c and losing Pires/Edu and co. to stave off the upward pressure on our wage bill which would have resulted from keeping most of them. The fact remains that when Abramovic's money came when we were at the peak of our success and that changed the PL, you lot kept competing with money and further worsened your debt situation, we changed strategy and payed our debts albeit with the loss in quality also missed out on trophies. The tide is changing yet again but City's spending will be curtailed, with the encouragement of youth development, Arsenal looks set to reap the rewards of their prudence both monetarily and trophy wise. Let me paint a scenario for you, imagine City buying Rooney and Manure having to face City with Tevez and Rooney every year for the next 4 years? Fergie must have a reason for asking Rooney to respect the club. Wahala dey. |
ritchboy:I'm back from my atojubo on Manure's forum to good news of my main man JET running the show in the reserve match, this boy is da shiznit, we don tell you. Ki olorun bawa so omo naa and keep him far from the Shawcrosses and Taylors of this world. With the look of that reserve team, I wouldn't be surprised if quite a good number of young players get the opportunity to play against newcastle, we shouldn't go gung-ho with our defence though. JET has done more than enough at reserve level to get a serious look in to the first team, we are now the ones holding the boy back in my opinion, that is his second hat trick at reserve level and he was a sure starter in this Blackpool team currently in the PL in the championship last season when he was on loan there. Macheda became an overnight sensation after only an hat trick at reserve level against Newcastle. |
StarBoard:Whether we win it or not, its still mickey mouse cup, even if we win it, I'll never rate it, its only clubs like Spurs who should be parading with that cup and rejoicing. Manure pass that level, the only cups I personally rate are FA, UEFA, PL, UCL in that specific ascending order but we'll never get UEFA cos we'll always qualify from the group stages of UCL anyway. Anyway, I've done enough atojubo on your forum, think on my words and stop hiding your heads in the sand. Its time for you lot to become prayer warriors. Massive debts and underachievement on the pitch is the kind of double whammy you want to avoid at all costs. Sayonara. |
tkb417:I lie? since you lost those 2 players, that is the only thing you've won, now yu're about to lose the 3rd player and you say wahala no dey? talk about hiding one's head in the sand. ![]() tkb417:What bull is this, are you rewriting history? Arsenal won the title unbeaten in 03/04, and Chelsea won it 04/05 (with us running them close for 2nd) and 05/06 before you lot won it back in 06/07 how can you claim Roman wrested the title from you when you were not the incumbent? get your facts straight man. |
jalether:1. The circumstances are different, Manure's situation now is akin to Arsenal's leaking of quality players which started after the invincibles, you don't get a sudden drop in performances, it sets in over time. If you leak that many quality players its bound to start showing soon. With those 3 players, Manure won 3 PLs back to back and a UCL, since their breakup started, what they've won is a Carling cup and their PL placement doesn't suggest any improvement soon even though I agree its early days. 2. The rise of Man city throws a spanner into the works just like the emergence of Chelsea's money did for Arsenal, do you really think if Chelsea's money hadn't come that Arsenal would have remained potless these past 5 years? who beat Arsenal in the FA cup semis and Carling Cup final? 3. Yes Fergie can still turn it around, but with the debt at Manure and the recent prudent spending approach all over, there are no quick fixes, I think reality is dawning at Manure. 4. The coming of Age of Arsenal's youth policy is another major factor that will tell here, its either you buy or develop, presently Manure looks short at both. |

Even Roman is hesitant to throw £50m around these days. . . .it's a global problem (except for Citeh, Real and maybe Barca).
