I always said Hernandez is good, no thrills and frills but mentally switched on and a born poacher like Owen and Solksjaer back in the day. Our own Carlos Vela can learn a few things from him cos I think he can be better.

@A-40

Let it rest, we all agree Diaby's decision making is atrocious, even his most blinker eyed supporter recognises that, but lets not because of that overlook all other good things about him. He is up there or thereabouts with the best in terms of individual technique but like you say his decision making greatly reduces his impact and makes him look a pub player atimes. Is that a fair consensus?

Meanwhile for today, its Arsenal (6) - Abu Dhabi Group (0) and if anyone wants to give me grief for my optimism, I say bring it on. tongue
The megedefegede you yarn is enough to make anyone's wires get crossed! Ibime is a Chelsea fan so he is permitted to be partially ignorant on Arsenal matters! No one at Arsenal would open their mouth and rank Diaby that high.
What is there to brag about in 6 goals and 4 assists in 29 games when Vermaelen did better! Denilson playing a much deeper role managed to score 4 goals in far less games
I have listed 5 players in my earlier post! Abi you no sabi read English for afternoon?

Fabregas
Vermaelen
Song
Bendtner
Arshavin

This does not even mean i rank Diaby in 6th spot
I like the rythm of your megedefegede so much I'm doing a tango. Of those yu list up there only Cesc clearly outperformed Diaby last season, Arshavin is thereabouts but all the others I personally would rate behind Diaby in overall contribution on the pitch last season mostly due to time out due to injury. Anyway to each is own, you can go and thump Ibime for naming him number 2 and then descend on me later. tongue
Yes because they did more for their clubs in those season than Diaby has ever done in his time at Arsenal. As for Hernanes you can swap him with Muller lol. Dayokanu has listed at least 15 players Diaby's age or younger who have more ability and are doing more for their teams at present than what Diaby has done for Arsenal so far
Well, to each his own, I've replied to DK what I think of his list and where he can shove it. There is no quantifiable metric to verify that statement you made up there, besides I never said Diaby was better than all the 15 players but there are some there who do not come close to Diaby at present and I've pointed them out and my reservations about some of the names he listed. I never made a claim that Diaby was the best MF in Europe in the first instance so if DK wants to start his player wiki project on our forum, he has my good wishes. grin grin

Wait! Before I address the latest in your series of megedefegede I saw you in a previous post claiming Diaby was one of our top 3 performers last season! Say it aint so! Why you nor kuku give am PFA,FWA player of the season and even Balon D'Or. Sheesh if I didn't know any better I would have said you had his DNA in your mouth. Fabregas,Arshavin,Vermaelen,Song and Bendtner where all better I woulda added RVP,Theo and Big Sol if not for injuries and Big Sol's half season cameo
You have have some crossed wires, Ibime said he was 2nd most productive player at arsenal last season, I said I wasn't sure of top 2 but he was definitely in top 3, why are you quarreling with me and not Ibime?  undecided
Someone is playing as a withdrawn MF yet got about 6 goals and 4 assists playing most of our games. I've told you that you are too emotional about these things, the 4 most advanced players at Arsenal are the front 3 and Fabregas playing the playmaker role so you would expect them to have more in terms of goals and assists, in overall contribution to our cause last season, Diaby was definitely in the top 3, if you dispute my assertion can you make up your own top 3 and let us discuss it?
Now to your post Apologize? Oo npe! Why don't you tell us you knew Tony Kross before his father met his mother. Its clear you judge players on how they perform in age-grade competitions sorry I don't roll that way afterall there are loads of players that shine in those tourneys and fail to cut it in the big stage. I listed all those players on the back of performances over a season and not age-grade competitions. So you don't need to expect anything from me my beards aint that long and Santa Claus is not black
This is bollocks, you listed players on performance over a season so yu're telling me you watched all matches played by all those players throughout last season? pray do you have a time machine or some afeeri from a babalawo? besides what season's data are you judging Hernanes on? abi you were watching Santo Andre's matches last season?  undecided

You make so many unfounded accusations that you can't back up it seems you roll so much in mud and its in your nature to sling it, pray in what competition did Wilshere shine in before I started talking about him? even earlier on this season I had a run in with Debo over the wisdom of Arsene playing him at Liverpool and I distinctly recall run ins with you when I said that Theo's clock was ticking with the emergence of English talent like Wilshere.

I judge players using so many parameters and not just one or catching up to some recent hype, I've followed the emergence of Toni Kroos cos there were unique attributes I saw in him as a youngster, the fact that he was banging in goals as a young boy while playing a MF position should alert you to a potential goal scoring MF, and I recall endless arguments with some people (not on this forum though) over who deserved the golden ball between him and Chrisantus in the 2007 U17. True no one knows how any young player will turn out due to the effect of injuries, off field issues or physical development going forwards but when you watch a boy in the range of 15-17 years old, the basic technique is set and from then on all he is learning is tactical going forwards.

Some players like Cesc, Kroos and Wilshere further show composure and intelligence beyond their age  in simple decisions and their overall understanding of play development (they play with a swagger is a more colourful way o expressing it) and that is why I say Kroos upper limit is higher than that of Diaby's but right now, he is not at Diaby's(who I never saw in his U19s appearance) level and the results already show in how well Bayern is playing this season methinks, though we also have the simple matter of Robben being out to injury.

One good way to also identify an exceptional player when young is to watch out for the confidence of his team mates in giving him the ball, in our own little back yard games when we were young we always knew who the top dog on the pitch was and tended to give them the ball because somehow at the back of our minds we knew they were better and would be more effective with the ball.

Would the american ambassador be making as much noise if he the statement was “I had an offer like that from America once and funnily enough it didn't transpire.”? It is a fact that most of such crimes are traced to Nigeria but he in no way suggested all Nigerians partake in it.
The government should clamp down on internet crime and fraud in Nigeria and then people will take the loud mouthed ambassador serious as things are now, he is just making noise.

I believe overall we have a better squad as things stand now, as Manure's better performers are ageing without much quality coming through the ranks, things can still change in the transfer window though.

We will soon hear the truth about this whole saga soon, infact it might be made into a movie someday.  grin grin grin

To be honest, it was inconcievable to me that Rooney could leave Manure until Fergie himself came out with it, it was not a positive move for either party (Manure loses an English icon, world class player and their best player while Rooney misses the opportunity to become a Manure legend while leaving to unfamilliar territory where he might not be as adored or important) the only person to profit from all this was his agent as mbulela pointed out. This was quite an interesting soap.

I know we'll hear the truth behind it soon, I'm more worried that Rooney now has something to prove for this season at least and will be back in really great form after his injury absence.

@Starboard
Do you expect me to be a prophet of good fortune for Manure?  grin grin grin

So of what use is his having played in Europe longer?
These are legit accusations against Abou, and it shows that for all his talent he is underachieving and needs to sort out those aspect of his game where he is lacking quickly.
As for Kroos may I remind you he was one of the stars of the 07 u-17 WC which Naija won so stop feeling like a Mungo Park I used to be a Bayern fan and still silently monitor their activities from time to time
If you really follow European football, you would know that the European U17s come before the U17WC (is actually a qualifier for it), Kroos was joint top scorer in that competition with Victor Moses and then went on to win the Golden ball ahead of our own Macauley in the WC proper.
Can you recall when I also told Sauron that Manure would regret not buying Adem Ljajic?

I only ask you these questions to show you that you are very wrong to accuse me of only following Arsenal Reserves instead of youth football in general, a true sport would accept his accusation was false and apologise for making them (as I've done in the past when talking about your favorite son Theo) but maybe I expect too much of you, don't worry about it.

What is wrong with going to wiki? Isn't it better to research than expose your ignorance on a subject matter being argued? I watch some Serie A and from the little I have seen only a JJC would compare Diaby to gems like Pastore,Hernanes e.t.c I'd advice you to watch other leagues and spend less time on Arsenal reserves maybe that would help you sound more current on footballing affairs around Europe
Diaby is barely holding his weight among good players I shudder to think of how he would fare at average teams like Palermo,Lazio,Leverkussen,Napoli e.t.c
When has Diaby ever been rated? Either in England or Europe as a whole! Diaby nor get any levels jare! Who dash monkey banana?
Nothing at all, I use it as well, and is there any law that says watching Arsenal reserves and other leagues has to be mutually exclusive? only in your mind perhaps. I don't claim to know all players in Europe but I follow other leagues as well even though all things Arsenal remain my priority.

Even DK can't accuse me of not following European football cos I recall clearly telling him on the Bayern forum last season that Bayern would be foolish to allow Kroos go to Leverkusen on a permanent basis cos I'd had my eyes on him since his Euro U17 appearance in 2007, can I ask if you even knew him then? or can you claim to have made such suggestion to DK?

Pastore and Hernanes have only recently come to the fore so don't tell me I don't know about them, true enough I haven't watched them in action much but I think it is too early to draw any firm conclusions on players having their first season in Europe with Hernanes just moving to Europe at the ripe age of 25.
The 2nd part of your statement is laughable at best cos aside Arshavin I can't think of another Arsenal midfielder that gives away posession more often than Diaby or what do you think are fans biggest complaint about him?
He is a slow thinker with an over-bloated opinion about his dribbling abilities abeg don't get me started on Diaby this morning
What kind of bad belle is this, where exactly have you heard him expressing any opinion about his dribbling ability? in your imagination perhaps.  grin grin
Diaby gives away possesion because his play isn't urgent enough and defending players get into position when he doesn't pick his pass earlier. His Technical mastery of the ball is brilliant and one on one versus any player he is exceptional but he is slow in releasing his passes early, that is exactly what I'm saying.

Even the initial statement I made was in jest so I wonder why yu're all pickin on it, have you ever seen a brain swap before? only in movies. There are a lot of things right about Diaby, like you say his slow execution of passes frustrates even his best admirers like mad I can assure you of that.
All I was saying was that the only thing needed to make Diaby a complete player was a quicker decision making process, if you ask me an admirer of Diaby could actually say I was making fun of him.

Dey there dey ask me silly question! What has Cesc won at Arsenal? The players I listed carry their respective mediocre clubs on their backs over the course of a season something Diaby struggles to do for two games straight
Ozil: Key part of Bremen that made the UCL
Hamsik: Where do I start with him? Napoli are in the Europa League
Pastore: King of the nutmeg, His team finished 5th last season in the Serie A with him playing a vital part
Hernanes: Serie A team of the year for 3 years straight
Kroos: Leverkussen's best player last season! They also made the Europa's
Put Diaby in a mediocre club and see what he will do first of all. Some of those yu've mentioned are good but I won't put them at Diaby's level certainly not Toni Kroos right now (though he may well be in the future) neither Hernanes or Pastore, they are nowhere near the level of scrutiny arsenal fans put on Diaby. Do you watch those club's every week as you do Arsenal?
If you are totally ignorant about other leagues you could at least ask or mask your ignorance by going to google or wiki instead of exhibiting mental diarrhoea by yarning all kinds of megedefegede to support your love for Diaby

Nasri
Cesc
Arshavin
Wilshere
Rozzy
Okay, now we know yu read wikipaedia unfortunately it still doesn't improve your understanding of the different aspects of the game one bit.  If I would give the ball to anyone with the assurance he would go past a player or maintain possesion of it, I would give it to Diaby before anyone of those you mention up there, it is the decision he makes after that which would make me think twice before giving him the ball.

slimshay:
And why are ya'll talking about technical ability and simplifying it to dribbling. Pius Ikedia was a hell of a dribbler nah.

Zizou the greatest footballer of our generation (for whom we have to have extra enter keys installed on our keyboards, apologies eldee) was not the greatest dribbler of the lot.

The dribbling is just one ball rentention ability, if you don't know how to receive and return you are just that, a dribbler.
Slim its not only in dribbling that Diaby excels joo, in every thing having to do with moving the ball and maintaining possesion of it, Diaby is brilliant, his problem is in his tactical understanding of the game and he does seem to think a bit slowly in making the final pass at appropriate times. even the weighting of Diaby's passing is good its just his holding on to the ball when he should act quicker that is frustrating from an attacking perspective. Its that split second decision making that separates the very good from the exceptional where he falls flat.
