CrimeRe: Nigerian Coupled Jailed For Beating Their Kids In The UK by duni04(m): 2:33pm On Aug 15, 2012
youngies: I think its more of a clash of cultures or a generational clash than anything else. I can understand why the parents would scream conspiracy when people back home in Nigeria would praise them for applying 'discipline' in raising their children. Maybe if the kids were raised back home in Nigeria, they'd have accepted their parents version of discipline as the norm but if you raise your kids in a foreign country and them expect them to understand why you're subjecting them to treatment that such country considers cruel, then they'll rebel against you.
Black immigrant parents, especially in the UK, are faced with this dilemma because they have come to realize that they have raised a generation of violent and indisciplined lads, and yet society will not allow them exercise the kind of discipline they are familiar with which in most cases involves violence.
Seven years again is just very disproportionate and harsh. Some of our parents did worse to us as children, not because it was right but because that was the only form of discipline they were familiar with. Maybe they know better now.

I kinda disagree with you. People visit nairaland to see all sorts; the news; the ridiculous; and oftentimes, boring but educating pieces like this one. Judging by the number of comments here, I don't think too many people are interested in this topic (God knows I'm not). If we had topics like this one making the front page everyday, I'd think twice about coming here.

2mch: You are a very big fool. You should have used your brain if it was working and in the right order to advise yourself before replying my post. Me and my father can sell what we like in Lagos because it is my state. Fool. If you understand economics you will know that what you wrote there is the most foolish thing ever. I am not going to educate you, I did not send you to school. Even developed cities in developed countries are smart enough to keep walmart and shoprite out!Especially in the big cities. These stores are located on the outskirts of the city, outside of the commercial center. Lagos is a commercial center. It is up to the state government to create standards. Instead of supporting the substandard and unregulated products being sold by these budget chains. If you have ever visited or gone abroad you will know shoprite and walmart are substandard. Stupid infant.
Lol...no comments. You've already exposed your ignorance and mediocrity. Just tag along now and have a nice day smiley

I think its you that's just being unnecessarily grammar sensitive. Detonate in this context means a controlled explosion to totally remove the threat of the bomb, as opposed to defusing the bomb which would only disarm the bomb and not really get rid of it. They appear opposite but in this context could very well mean the same thing.

Nobody should throw any bombs and nobody should attempt to detonate any bombs. For the sake of peace, please! And so I don't die of laughter early in the morning smiley

olas2u: You also don't know that Tina pa was not set up to serve only the Nigerian market,Home grown businesses and shops could also pay the same amount of taxes. It is centrally located to serve west and central Africa with the right infrastructure people will come.Nigerians have been flying to Dubai to shop and holiday as well.Pls always allow people to say what they have to say,you dont have everything.
Ironic cos quiet a number of these 'strong' small businesses pulled out of Tinapa recently cos they couldn't cope with the exorbitant rent, even when they're not being charged taxes. Tinapa is also supposed to be tax free for a period of time hence the cross rivers state government stands to gain almost nothing, even when the place is up and running. The only incentive to the people of cross rivers is the money that potential tourists will spend while in the state, nothing else. Not taxes, not levies, nothing.

Thats what am talking about uhh!! thank God i am not a tetchy person...As you'll can see,i deliberately made some errors(example, noticed that the word 'quote' was intentionally typed as 'qoute''humane as humanane'' et al} on ma post to see who can spot some of the nuance minute typographical errors there..not that i didn't see them, yes i proof read them 'nine times out of ten' before dropping them....i wanted to see if someone can humbly correct me without abusing the OP.....it was a tactic trick i used apparently though but then No matter how one tends to be over carefull, mistakes are abound,it's part of it especially when one is typing with Qwerty phones 'cos of how the keypads are spaced.....
As for my name,It's Donald but i just felt like writing it as Donalð just like am kind of used to spelling 'g' as 'q' though not always per se but i know what am doing 'cos i only used them on NL.....so dont get it twisted

2mch: I think Tinapa can work if it becomes a hub for the railways. That is every region has access to it by railway. Fast and efficient railways. Railways will become Nigeria's most secure form of transportation in years to come. The state government on its own can start promoting enterprenuership by providing loans to small scale enterprenuers who have property as collateral and giving them adequate time to repay the loans. They should prevent companies like Shoprite and Walmart from entering their state. Unlike my foolish state government of Lagos huh angry
So that u and your father's company will come and sell us dirty meat or maggot infested bread abi. Nonsense! Wonder if u even went to school. Do you know how much the Lagos state government is earning from taxes from these malls? How much could small scale shop owners possibly contribute in taxes to debt ridden cross rivers state? Will people travel from across Nigeria to Tinapa to shop from small scale shop owners?
I suggest you stop spewing nonsense on the internet and put on your thinkink cap for once.

Working class, well to do ladies my foot. Its just packaging! After sleeping around with almost everyone and sucking all they have, they suddenly become working class, actually driving cars and giving people the impression they're doing something important- which is the aim of being a ho anyways.
Its really not a nigerian problem, its everywhere and its based on the simple principle of survival and hustling. Women, men- all of us are greedy. Men steal money due to greed, women use the same greed to rip the money off the men. Its a vicious cycle.

There are many women in Nigeria that marry for love and I choose to see and believe that.

Very true! Its very typical of the police in Nigeria to always 'swing into action' and arrest innocent people without even conducting investigations. Sometimes there's even no need to investigate anything, a little dose of common sense is usually enough but we all know our police people lack any.
PoliticsRe: Bakassi Hoists National Flag, Sets Up Radio Station by duni04(m): 3:49pm On Aug 10, 2012
Billyonaire: There is a local Government called Bakassi Local Government Area in Cross River State. Even at that, OBJ had no problems sacrificing a people for Oil block deals with Cameroun. Bakassi was a part of Nigeria until OBJ traded their land in exchange of Oil Blocks on the Peninsula to Cameroun. The Bakassians have been rendered homeless, refugees and Stateless for about a decade. Will we blame a free people for seeking Nationhood ? Nigerian Government disowned Bakassi and by extension its people. So, dont call it a secession, because Bakassi was abandoned 10yrs and have been state-less by any standard. From all I understand, there is nothing in Bakassi to show that Nigeria cared about them before and after the OBJ blood for Oil deal. If Bakassi had no Oil, life would have been better for them and they would have remained Nigerians. But, the Cabal that owns oil blocks, mostly Hausas wont let us be one Nation anymore. The cheating is too damn much.
Very glaring display of ignorance. First of all, Obj did not trade Bakassi for oil blocks. What he did was obey the world courts virdict on the dispute between Nigeria and cameroon which ceeded the penisullar to Cameron. Maybe obasanjo should have ignored the verdict of the world court, as other countries are apt to do. Secondly, obasanjo did not trade the bakassi in exchange for any oil blocks. Instead he negotiated a joint exploration agreement with cameroon where Nigeria would be entitled to proceeds from any exploration off the coast of bakassi.
Would you have preferred an ill prepared and tired Nigeria; just emerging from 40 years of military dictatorship at the time of the verdict and with a myriad of other problems , to go to war with cameroon in total disregard to international law.
The verdict of the international court only transferred sovereignty of the island to cameroon and gave. The inhabitants the option of settling peacefully ,albeit under camerounian law, or moving to Nigeria if they found the option of living in camerounian Bakassi too hard to swallow.
What we should do is to help these dissenting indigenes of bakassi settle down peacefully and not encourage their dissent and rebellion. Nigeria has way more to deal with at this moment in time!

PoliticsRe: Kogi Deeper Life Church Attack Gang Leader Arrested In Edo State by duni04(m): 12:01am On Aug 09, 2012
I seriously doubt if any of those pictured there took part in that massacre. The Nigerian police is well known for manufacturing suspects and criminals from nowhere, or just switching cases. Maybe these ones in the picture were caught petty thieving or something else. Its my own personal opinion, but with the reputation of the Nigerian Police force and the seeming ease with which they were caught, 2 days after the incident; in another state, i'd say those men in the picture are not the ones that shot those Christian Worshippers .
PoliticsRe: If GEJ Improves Electricity, Will You Vote For Him In 2015? by duni04(m): 8:22pm On Aug 08, 2012
Definition of foolishness: making the same mistake twice. God knows my momma didn't raise no fool. Not only will I campaign against him, I'll dissuade other right thinking people (very few in this country) to do same. A president that cannot even speak in public, is corrupt, has no idea what's going on around him and is just as dumb and clueless as everyone knows he is. FYI: this guy cannot solve the power problem because apparently no matter how many power stations are built (most of which were even started by obasanjo in his National Integrated Power Program), as long as there is still violence in the Delta and people keep on blowing up pipelines conveying gas to these stations, we're going to remain in darkness. This guy, as we all know, doesn't have the balls to confront any kind of violence.
In 2015, it'll be good riddance to bad nonsense.
PoliticsRe: Northern Youths Warn Asari Dokubo And Edwin Clark by duni04(m): 7:37pm On Aug 08, 2012
From rewanda to Burundi, the former Yugoslavia, and more recently, in the Ivory Coast, ethnic conflicts all over the world have their origin in destructive, racist and tribal comments from these so called 'sectional leaders' whose aim to transfer their hatred and disdain for other races and tribes into the wider society. If any one reads up on the conflict in Rewanda, you'll discover that it started when these sectional leaders, in their hypocritical desire to 'protect the interests' went to the radio, tv and mass media to malign other tribes and ethnic groups and incite people of their own ethnic group into violence. Does this in any way sound familiar to what Mr Edwin Clarke has been up to recently? Your guess is as good as mine.
If indeed, a war does break out and Mr Clark's innate violent desires come to pass, I just want to let him and other ethnic leaders know that it doesn't end with the bloodshed. After 'their war' and violence is over, we, the true and indivisible children of Nigeria, with the help of the international court of justice and other friends of this country will hunt them down, no matter where they run to. If Mr Clarke is a keen follower of world news, he'd have heard of a 90 +year old Hungarian who was recently arrested and is due to be tried for his role in the imprisonment and jailing of jews during the second world war. Lesson: no matter how old you are, you will never get away with mass violence and evil. Please Sir, heed this advice.

I totally agree. Why should someone who hasn't demonstrated personal prudence or enterprise seek to transfer such to the larger society. From jonathan to the other gluttonous African leaders who are only able to assume political power through favoritism and patronage, never through personal enterprise or achievement. We should elect people who have demonstrated some sort of personal achievement or some sort of virtue which we would want replicated on a larger scale in society, or a personal accomplishment which society would ultimately want to reward with political office. The likes of jonathan, who before his assuming the presidency, has no sort of personal accomplishment or achievement. People like that should not even be allowed to run for any kind of election. What on earth does he have to contribute to society, Missiles from his wife?
