robosky02: Edwin Okon, coach of the Super Falcons has come under fierce criticism after his unprofessional attitude following his team’s 1-0 loss to the United States at the ongoing Womens World Cup in Canada.
An Abby Wambach volley seconds before half-time earned USA a 1-0 victory over Nigeria in Vancouver, sending the Americans through as Group D winners and Nigerians home.
After the game, Okon refused to shake hands with US coach Jill Ellis and immediately got a backlash from football fans across the globe especially Nigerians who were grossly disappointed by his action.
Reacting on Twitter, Omono wrote: “Edwin Okon did a very unprofessional and immature act of ignoring Jill Ellis’ handshake. That’s why Nigeria will never grow.”
Lolade Adewuyi, Goal.com Nigeria editor was more critical of Okon’s action. “This coach Edwin Okon really fooled himself in front of the whole world. @thenff must learn not to employ misfits,” he wrote, adding that, “Edwin Okon, in typical #NGA fashion, blames the loss to #USA on the referee. Piss poor attitude.”
Why is this uncivilised Edwin Okon disgracing Nigeria this much? Refused to shake hands with U.S Coach. "No handshake", he told her.
http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/06/17/nigerians-blast-edwin-okon-for-refusing-to-shake-us-coach/ These dumbass Nigerians should have been talked or written more on the discriminatory officiating of matches involving Nigerians teams by the European and American referees than Okon's handshake or lack thereof. |

nduchucks: Make no mistake about it, die hard biafrans and closet secessionists like Duru1 consider the entire SS area as being part of Igboland. Duru1 is neither a die hard Biafran nor closet secessionist and never considered entire so-called south-south as part of Igbo land. It is a failed attempt at being funny to remotely insinuate that an astute intellectual such as Duru1 would include Edo, Urhobo, Ijo or Itsekiri as Igbo land. Ndiigbo have no intention to lord over anybody as the moronic detractors would suggest. However Ndiigbo would like to compete in order to make their environment worth a stay. I am strongly for Republic of Igbo land but would not mind a well thought-out Biafra which will include all Igbo lands in Delta, Edo, Kogi, Benue States and the defunct eastern region of Nigeria. |

If the people of Oyigbo are tired of being called Rivers people, they can swim across the Imo River into Abia state.
Obi of Asaba should speak for himself..he should stop talkong like a fool. Obigbo was never called Oyigbo until after the end of Nigeria/Biafra civil war when most goons started the denial of being Igbo. It got so bad that traditional ruler of Obigbo had to elope to Owaza. |

One fool in Asaba can decide for himself in his domain, he can never speak for a people unrelated to him in anyway.
Go on Igbos and Unite, the Ikwerres wish you guys all the best. Origin ascertained through distorted historical facts is like building a foundation on sandy soil. The jackasses did not know that Ikwerre as written to today is heavily Anglicized. They moronically calmed to have descended from Akalaka (Akaraka), the birth lines on someone's palm, but such terminology has no place in Benin vernacular. None of the goons knew the meaning of Isiokpo, the acclaimed ancestral home of Akalaka (Akaraka), yet they make fool of themselves at any given opportunity. I had wished the people of Bakassi had the opportunity to rewrite history too. |

What arrant nonsense. The people of south-eastern Nigeria do not carry people in that format as posited in the picture. Secondly, the background in the picture does not represent the red soil found in Igbo land or the vegetation found in south-eastern region of Nigeria. The picture aptly represented scene commonly found in northern region of Nigeria. In the 50s, Ojukwu had already slapped the crap out of a D.O in the eastern region and they, the British, relocated to northern region and western region. abagoro: I hope you read what happened before comparing Benin Obaship which a Governor can as well sack. If Sultan of Sokoto who controls more rugged Muslims in more than 5 countries can be sacked then anything can happen. All a Governor needs is the backing of the people and most importantlyy FG and armed forces.
What happened in Imo State is part of Jonathan's clueless leadership. He thought he could use Ilomuanya to win over traditional rulers in Imo State by offering money but they rejected it because Ilomuanya is a reknowned criminal who has no respect in his hometown where he ruled people with intimidation and Government backing. There are over 600 traditional rulers in Imo State and 550 are in support of Ohiri while less than 50 followed Ilomuanya. Backed by Jonathan they went to Ohiri's Obiri Eze Imo and desecrated it. Unfortunately for them Jonathan and Ihedioha lost and they have lost FG's backing. They need to be dealt with very well. Ohiri is a joker when intrigues of Igbo traditional rites are discussed. |

The problem of soccer development in Nigeria hangs on one word, thus, Nigeria. There are no organization, preparation and welfare. I watched the girls play very tentatively because they are trying very hard to avoid injuries especially players with foreign clubs. I do not blame them because Nigeria is a hopeless country that will abandon the players if injuries had to prevent them from earning livelihood within their respective clubs.
There is no sign of organizational acumen in Nigeria. It is mind-boggling that Nigerian Football Federation has done nothing about poor and discriminatory officiating by European, North American and Australian referees against Nigerian teams. I guessed by now Nigeria had seriously knocked on the door of the disciplinary committee of FIFA and complain about the abuse of Nigerian teams by the idiotic and biased referees from the countries of aforementioned regions.
The truth must be told though that Nigeria did not prepare for this tournament. Most countries in the on-going FIFA games started preparation immediately after group’s drawing in Canada. Nigeria did not assemble the players until last month. Yet the jokers expected to go beyond the group stage of the tournament. It is needless to dabble into the area of continuity because a country such as Nigeria that lacked any form of organizational skills and discipline cannot be mentioned in the sentence with continuity. |

Politics › Re: Fg Picks Geregu, Itu As 2,400mw Nuclear Power Sites by Duru1(m): 6:06pm On Jun 17, 2015 |
gaussy: The Federal Government through the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) has selected Geregu in Kogi State and Itu in Akwa Ibom State as the sites for building two nuclear power plants in Nigeria that could generate up to 2,400 megawatts (mw) at both sites.
In a presentation yesterday at the plenary of the Phase 2 Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) mission in Abuja, NAEC Chairman, Mr. Erepamo Osaisai, said part of its progress is the concluded preliminary site selection activities and “detailed evaluation and characterization to be conducted on preferred sites on the approval of government in Geregu, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of kogi State and Itu in Itu LGA of Akwa Ibom State.”
Daily Trust had reported in April that NAEC was holding talks with Russia’s Rosatom Corporation to build four nuclear power plants costing about $20 billion (about N3.9 trillion) which would generate 4,800 megawatts (mw).
Erepamo said the plants will be co-financed by Rosatom, which will then build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) them to the government. He noted that the preliminary licensing of the approved sites is expected by the end of 2016 from the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) which is currently developing the licences’ procedures.
The commission said training and capacity building for building and operating the plants are ongoing while it has developed a framework to establish a ‘National Nuclear Insurance Policy and Scheme’ to “adequately address the civil liability of component for the Nuclear Power industry in conformity with the 1963 Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage.”
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Dr. Godknows Igali, said government’s intervention in the power sector includes the diversification of the electricity sources from the present 80 percent gas and 20 percent hydro to integrate nuclear power to meet its target of generating 20,000 megawatts (mw) by year 2020.
“With NAEC’s plan to inject 1,200mw from first nuclear power plant in 2025 and increase to 4,800mw in 2035, the energy mix is expected to have increased to about 20 percent power generation from clean sources,” Igali said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director General, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Dr Mikhail Chudakov, who led the agency’s delegation on a two-week trip to Nigeria, said Nigeria should be prepared to take adequate responsibility for the safety culture and for safe operation of a nuclear power in the country.
http://dailytrust.com.ng/daily/index.php/business/57411-fg-picks-geregu-itu-as-2-400mw-nuclear-power-sites The above proposal, if slightly true, must be opposed by any reasonable Nigerian. Nigeria is a country that cannot handle the development of primary schools yet negotiating to build nuclear plants in the country. Nigeria does not need any nuclear-related device talk less of nuclear power plant. If Nigeria does not need an accelerated disintegration of the jungle called country, I beg the shakers and movers in Nigeria to put a stop to the madness. Why would so-called Nigerian leaders surround Igbo land with nuclear plant? This lunatic proposal can never be allowed to see daylight. At this stage of Nigeria’s development or lack thereof, it needs hydropower station and supplemented with solar. |

Where was the NFF? So u mean Pinnick can fly to England for nothing but he can't go to Canada to make sure things go right, even after Njoku's suspension nobody said nothing on her behalf, not even to let her accept and apologize. Back to the game from when Okobi committed her first foul the ref threatened her with a card people don't understand that has an effect on a player and then any foul we committed she gave yellow cards how can one team have 5 yellow cards and the other have none are we Italy? It seemed like a game of good vs evil cuz we very much were the villains. Its a simple fact against Sweden we had an Asian ref then in our last 2 we had European refs and they very much beat us. Against Australia the ref took so much time setting up set pieces on the slick killing the clock and as if that was not enough for her she went and ended the game 3 minutes early did FIFA address any of that? nope they just suspended our player for something people have gotten away with even in this same tournament. I love my country but what i see internationally shows me why we were so easily colonized we are a bunch of yes men no one fighting any cause we just no want wahala no matter all the ojoro they do on us. Anyways when is this AAG at least i know we are local champions lol. African in general and Nigeria in particular have failed to raise hell about soccer ill-minded tactics employed by referees from Europe, USA, Canada and Australia when officiating soccer matches involving teams from Africa. In most cases, teams from Africa have been subjected to moral and physical abuse by the referees from listed places and along with opposing teams. You are very much on the right when you touched on the colonial mentality exhibited by Africans. Most jackasses from Africa will kill their people if a European demands such from them. |
