Ournolly: Fiber Internet will beat satellite Internet like StarLink all day. The issues with fiber networks are the downtimes mostly as a result of the destruction of the infrastructures and the availability in the remote areas. These are the places that StarLink has upper hands but it terms of speed and ping fiber always carry the day. That has always been my worry with Fibre. The frequent disruptions as a result of infrastructural damages. Sometimes, it takes time for the provider to mobilize for rectification. That could leave you with no Internet for days or weeks. I have been using Starlink for 2 and a half years now, and the only time I experience partial outage is during rainfall and like 3 times we have had global outages, which only lasted 1 to 2hours. Fibre is the best but the disruptions makes it unattractive, especially in this country where response from service providers is poor. |

morikee: Starlink suspended my account for no reason. They told me I have an unsettled payment, which I can’t find anywhere. I’ve been communicating with them, but they haven’t replied since yesterday. I don’t joke with my bills; I pay them on time. This is really frustrating. Has anyone experienced this issue? Looks like an error on their part. I will advise you keep sending a follow up on the ticket. They will respond eventually. |

nani667: My own case they came to us some months ago requesting permission to run the Fibre in our estate .. and in a few months it was live 🫱🏻🫲🏼 Yes, the reason they deployed it is because they were convinced that there was enough interest. Deployment is expensive, so they make sure that there's sufficient interest beforehand. |

Can you give more context when you say "visit one of their head offices and request to have an audience with the broadband department". Do you know anyone that have done that? How does that work even If you live in Abuja, MTN only has one head office, which is the one in Maitama, it's the only MTN owned office in Abuja. Go there, seek an audience with the broadband team. |

akinremedy: it is capped at 1TB but let's be sincere with ourselves, paying 30k for 1 TB for a month is a fair deal. Let's learn to be appreciative of little things. What has mtn or even indigenous Glo done that is close to Airtel's? With our backdoor 15k unlimited monthly for Airtel, tell me any better deal than that You think it's fair because Internet is expensive in Nigeria. If you travel to Europe and other places, Internet is quite affordable and faster than what we have here. In Portugal, you can get cheap fibre with 10Gbps speed for only €15 and it's unlimited, no cap. That is less than 30k. We're suffering in this country. |

im tired of this shitty airtel, they say its unlimited but i believe they cap speeds during the day time.
paying 30k for 20mbps but i can barely get 1 They don't deploy the FibreX service to a location unless they know there is sufficient interest in the service. It's easier to get them to deploy it to an estate. They require commitment from at least 150 users in an estate. If you can get that number of interested people, visit one of their head offices and request to have an audience with the broadband department. |

erad: Stop shifting goal post. Finish sorting one before moving to the other.
This is one of the reasons you guys can never hold your leaders accountable. One person will ask one thing and without waiting for that to be sorted, another will put attention on something else.
Learn to focus on main issues and stop drifting, you're only giving these people room to wriggle and eventually confuse you till you forget the whole thing altogether. And why can't all be done at the same time? Let me guess, you're a Tinubu supporter. And you also support Wike. |

Tolu181: quick question my people, if you order starlink mini from jumia or konga
will it come with free sub
bear in mind i am buying it from starlink official store in jumia/konga No, you will need to pay 57k to activate it. If you're in an area where activation charge is mandatory, you will also need pay additional 400k. No point buying Mini in Nigeria, unless you are in an Area where they don't charge activation fee. It doesn't make sense. |

Mutmainneen: If I understand correctly, is it illegal to download series or other entertainment services from third-party sites like we are used to with our local internet providers? Could this ever be grounds for banning people from accessing star link services that was paid for with our hard earned money? This was probably through torrenting, that's why they could see what the IP downloaded. |

ask4bk: Finally got the dreaded warning from starlink that i infringed and downloading copyrighted materials illegally.
Reading the messager from the complainer, Paramount studios, they said I or someone using my Internet downloaded BILLIONS a paramount season series in FRENCH.
That's already a proof that it is not from my starlink. None of my users know French, apart from me sha. We never learn English not to talk of French.
I live near Benin Republic in northern Nigeria so i guess my starlink was among multiple starlinks sharing same public ip address when the material was downloaded. Guess i share ip address with Benin Republic guys.
Anyway. Got to know that starlink just, by obligation, needs to send that warning to everybody who were using the ip address at that point of time. They threaten with ban but i hear they'll never do so.
Someone once wrote to them saying he downloaded nothing and starlink told him they know but just had to send the warning to fulfil the law and the person should not worry.
Guess i shouldn't worry too. You're right. It may not be you or anyone connected to your Starlink. It's probably some other person with the same IP as yours. Just ignore it, don't respond. Moreover, I don't think Nigeria has explicit cyber copyright laws. |

By the way, apparently Starlink added more specs to their Nigerian hardware in Lagos yesterday. Those in Lagos and other places where capacity is still low should enjoy Starlink even the more. An engineer posted the attached screenshot yesterday on Reddit.

ibietela2: Is this part of the agreement they had? Leave the subscription fee and charge us activation fee? They use such charges to discourage people from getting onboard. They also do it overseas, not just here. In fact, in some parts of the US where capacity has been reached, they charge up to $1,000 activation fee. The idea is simply to discourage more customers from getting onboard, and it's legal. |

If the order is handled by Speedaf, you could receive it in 3 weeks (all things being equal) , but if by other carrier, meaning that the delivery would be routed through Nipost or other means, I guarantee you a minimum of 4 weeks. Thanks for the info👍 |

vickytosyn: Hello everyone,
I just got a starlink mini from Jumia. I am trying to activate it and I see I need to pay an activation fee of 400, 000 naira and monthly subscription fee of 57k making a total of 457k please am confused. Do everyone pay activation fee? I think it's an error on the part of Starlink and they're yet to correct it. Someone posted earlier that they were not charged the activation fee. However, you should take precaution before attempting to make payment. Make sure to reduce the funds in the account the card is connected to, to not more than 100k. Then attempt to make payment and see if you are only charged the 57k. Whatever you decide, know that Jumia has 7-day return policy, unlike Starlink's 30-day return policy. And Starlink doesn't intervene in disputes with the return policy of their official distributors. |
