25k monthly for 50 Mb/sMB/s. You get the first month free, and it is available in both 4G and 5G. Just make sure that the Airtel network is good in your location.

Do you have a picture of this recent device?
I don't have the device yet, but scroll up, akinremedy posted some pictures of the device.

Oh so you will be given the device that same day you paid and registered to take home, I thought you will have to wait for the installer to bring it and install, thanks for the info
They don't give this particular device to you to go home with it after registration. They will send an installer to your place to install it. They're very strict with this ODU, unlike the initial one. You can't find it with agents or resellers. Even their registered distributors don't have it. Their head office here in Abuja also has a quota they're allowed to sell per day, just so they don't pile up devices for installation.

That's the news flying around in some quarters. I wasn't told that and there was no written agreement in any form i filled in the office that it was leased. The reason for sending down installers is simply to avoid the retail selling of the device. They are trying to avoid retailers selling above the 25k price. Infact before giving it to you, they would tear off every wrapper and unroll the cables. Infact no staff can take out that device without registration no matter who you are. They simply followed the footsteps of MTN fibre X and nothing more. If Airtel does not monitor the sales of the device, guess how much these hungry retailers would sell the ODU. 150k is certain
You are right, because I also learnt some agents were selling the device as high as 175k. I think they just want to avoid the middlemen overpricing the device.

The 25k is for subscription, not the device.

They said the same thing when they started issuing their first ODU devices last year. However, they allowed customers to register and leave with the device. But now, with the new ODU, you are registered, then an installer is sent to your house with the device at later date for installation. So, maybe they're serious this time around.

Sure, you can do it yourself but the installer must do his job by hanging it wherever he deems it fit because he has to take pictures in that same location to show and prove that indeed he has done his job. After he leaves, you might do as you wish with it but 💯, it must be hanged by the installer 😁
I was informed by one of their agents that the device is actually not owned by the customer. It's more of a lease, and that's why they send an installer to your home. They take note of your address and probably why they take pictures. He said they would retrieve it if you fail to subscribe after a period of time. But I doubt they can actually go around retrieving devices from customers.

Google keep saying verve card is not accepted
Your Google account is not a Nigerian one. You probably opened it using a US address or some other country. You can still change the country to Nigeria in the Google account settings. It can only be done once a year.

Otherwise, Nigerian Google accounts now accept physical VerveCards (19 digits), including Virtual VerveCards (16 digits). There are certain Google services, like Google Cloud that only accept Naira denominated Visa or MasterCard though.

You will pay 25k at their office for the device which also comes with 50Mbps plan for 30 days. You will be duly registered then tell you to go home that the installer will be at your location the following day. You won't pay the installer a dime for the service except if you want to be generous and that's all. I've not been throttled anyways. I'm past the 1.5TB threshold though, still counting
Thanks for the info.

I would like to try this out of curiosity, to see the speed I can achieve and if there's some kind of throttling.

How much is the device and the 50Mbps plan altogether? I understand they also send an engineer to your location for the installation. Is that a separate service you will have to pay for?

most times people talk about Starlink as if it's perfect. It makes me laugh. Secondly about Fibre, let's even talk about MTN Fibre X as an example, it's serving and up most of the time. I know what i went through when there was fibre cuts in my area. It took 'em about 3 weeks to fix it. The disadvantage is people digging the roads at will. In Nigeria, no ISP is perfect. We just dey manage them
I have been using Starlink since February 2023. In terms customer service, nothing in Nigeria comes close to it. When my router got burnt as a result of power surge, a new one was sent for free. When my cable got damaged, a new one was sent for free. When my dishy's gps had issues, an entire new kit was sent for free. I'm confident that if the gen2 system I have now develops an issue, it will be replaced with an entire Gen3 v4 system for free.

We have had like 3 notable outages worldwide since I've had it. The longest was about 2hrs. The only other times we experience extremely poor performance is during heavy rainfall. Of course it's not perfect, but you can't compare it with anything we have in Nigeria.

The fact is that we are suffering in this country. Internet is extremely expensive. In countries where things work as they should, there's no reason why I should be using Starlink since I live in the city, not some remote or isolated area. But because one can't rely on our fibre, I don't have a choice.

https://punchng.com/airtel-unveils-router-with-built-in-backup-power/

According to Airtel, the new 25k ODU router supports 4G and 5G, has in-built power pack and comes with 50Mbps unlimited plan for a month. Afterwards, you can subscribe to the 25k for 50Mbps or 45k for 100Mbps.

My issue now is that, I know that at some point, they will throttle the connection, maybe after you have used up to 1TB. I experienced it with the old 25k unlimited plan back then. This is why I will stick to Starlink. Also, unlike fibre, no way you can get the 50Mbps speed consistently as this is wireless.

Arteta is an extremely stubborn goat. It has been proven time and time again, that this 3 DM thing is not working out. Zero creativity in the midfield. Why is Nwaneri still on the bench? I have never seen a more stubborn manager than Arteta.

didnt check oo... cos i was in a hurry to get the kit activated
I am asking of the digits on your virtual card. Are they 19 or 16 digit. You can check this in your Opay app. For instance, mine is 16, not like the normal Opay physical card that has 19 digits. The 16 digits virtual card is not as acceptable as the 19 digits one. Kindly check your app.

i did an installation few days ago. it was declining.. i had to request for their virtual card .. and i was able to activate the kit
Is Opay still issuing the 16 digit Virtual VerveCard or have they started issuing the 19 digit one? I once got the 16 digit card but I found out that a lot of online card processors don't accept the 16digit Virtual card.

It's been horrible for the past few days. And I also noticed that the interruptions on the app have been extremely high. I haven't experienced this in a long time.

I started using starlink on the first of this month, I was thinking starlink was going to give me free one month subscription. But up till now, I have not gotten my on month free subscription from starlink
Starlink doesn't give free one month subscription on shipment anymore. When I got mine in February 2023, it came with one month free subscription. At the time, the subscription is added when the kit is provisioned for your account. By the time the kit gets to you, you would still have 3 weeks to use it for free.

Well, this is about one month so far for me since I started using the MTN FibereX and I am yet to experience any downtime 🤔

Service has been perfect so far.
Of course, give it some time. As long as it's fibre, you will experience extended downtimes. Sometimes, for weeks even.

Except Liverpool, no other team could get away with what Man City has gotten away with in this match. A clear foul by the keeper on Kudus, but nothing was given. Tijani fouls Porro on the edge of the box, no foul given. This is crazy.

The Starlink app shows the speed between your dish and Starlink’s own system, while Fast.com checks speed to the wider internet, which is what you really feel when browsing.

Me, personally, I've stopped doing speed tests.
My own is that it better carry whatever I'm doing. grin
Not entirely accurate, the best way to test your speed is to connect to the nearest server. Fast.com doesn't connect to any Nigerian server. It connects to foreign servers, which impacts greatly on speed. Ookla's Speedtest.net is one tool that gives options to connect to various local servers.

The test on the Starlink app is far more accurate than fast.com.
