Addendum. @smlafolabi FYI here is Samuel's reference to the Isralites desire for autocracy 1 Samuel 12:12-13 KJV: |
smlafolabi: Image123:@smlafolabi When posting next time, easy does it. Capitalizations infers you're shouting ![]() Democracy or autocracy? Neither is better or right for humans Image123 is right, is this a debate or enquiry? Anyways, I am assuming you actually are/were thinking of "Theocracy" - a rule by GOD Theocracy is a government by God for His people, whereby GOD governs/rules as the supreme civil ruler Theocracy has always been the intention of God and has its origin as far back in Eden . . . The Isralites as a people and/or nation rejected its reintroduction on a flimsy excuse to be like the joneses (i.e. other nations) The re-introduction lasted from their deliverance out of Egypt until the appointment of king(s) 1 Samuel 8:6-7 KJV: 1 Samuel 8:19-20 KJV:Read the entire 1 Samuel 8 chapter for more details |
na2day!:@^^^ FYI I do recall reading the below snip way back https://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2007/01/05/Downfall460.jpg Bruno Ganz as Hitler in Der Untergang (Downfall). It took $92m at the box office - but couldn't it add to that? ". . . Was it really a good idea for Constantin Films, the company that made the (excellent) 2004 film Der Untergang (Downfall), to step up its demands for YouTube to remove all the video spoofs using a clip from its film? Constantin obviously thinks yes. At the moment a search on YouTube for "Downfall" suggests there are still about 200 parodies up there, but new ones aren't getting added: yesterday's "lost iPhone 4G" video, for example, had a YouTube version - which was immediately taken down. YouTube is removing them by using its ContentID service, which can find clips which use the same soundtrack or video if it has been registered as copyrighted . . .! http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2010/apr/21/downfall-spoof-removal-mistake |

Drugs raid on Nigerian diplomat's home after heating is turned up Scotland Yard has admitted that police raided the Hendon home of a diplomat attached to the Nigerian High Commission after the warmth given off from his heating system was mistaken for signs of a cannabis factory. Officers searched the house of the Commissioner's deputy head of political affairs, Ikeczukwu Nwokike, after a helicopter using thermal imaging equipment spotted what appeared to be a higher than normal heat coming from the roof. Drugs farms often use high-powered lights which give off huge amounts of heat to aid the growth of the illegal crop. Police obtained a search warrant and raided Mr Nwokike's home, apparently not having checked the identity of the occupant. It is not known if the official was home at the time. Police found no drugs and traced the heat source to the central heating system. An insider said the raid took place during a cold spell earlier this month and the central heating in the house was turned up to the maximum. A police spokeswoman said: “We can confirm a warrant to search for cannabis plants was executed at a home in north London on June 17 by officers acting on information from the Met air support unit. "There were no drugs found and no arrests made. Further inquiries traced the heat source to the heating system.” A spokesman for the Nigerian High Commission said that although the operation could have been interpreted as a violation of diplomatic conventions, the High Commission would not be taking the matter to the “extreme”. He added: “We accept the explanation that the helicopter detected something but that these things don't necessarily work with fine precision.” Police regularly use the force's helicopter to trace cannabis factories. Last year patrols identified 160 houses as possible cannabis factories, of which 113 were found to be growing the drug under “hydroponic conditions”. About £13.5 million worth of cannabis was seized in raids on cannabis factories in London. The Met witnessed a peak in drug farms in 2005/06 when 648 were found in London but since then the number has fallen as organised crime gangs, mainly from south-east Asia, have moved out to the suburbs and Home Counties. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23849822-drugs-police-raid-home-of-nigerian-high-commissioner-after-he-turned-the-heating-up.do |
Pope calls Belgian police Church raids "deplorable" Pope Benedict denounced on Sunday as "surprising and deplorable" raids by Belgian police on Church offices and the home of a cardinal this week during an investigation into paedophilia by Roman Catholic priests. In a letter to the head of the Belgian bishops conference, Benedict expressed his "solidarity" after Thursday's search of two Church offices and the home of a former archbishop, during which computers and files were removed and at least one tomb was opened. Belgium's bishops, who were holding a meeting at the time of the raids, were kept incommunicado for nine hours while the searches were conducted. "At this sad time, I wish to express , my closeness and solidarity for the surprising and deplorable ways in which the searches were carried out," the pope said in his message. "I hope that justice will follow its course while guaranteeing the rights of individuals and institutions, respecting the victims, (and) acknowledging those who undertake to collaborate," Benedict added. The Vatican protested to Belgium on Friday, expressing "shock" at the way the raids were carried out and "indignation" at what it said was the violation of tombs. The Belgian Church was rocked in April when the bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe, resigned and admitted to sexual abuse before and after becoming a bishop. He was the first European bishop to step down for committing sexual abuse of minors himself. The Belgian Church has apologised for its silence on abuse cases in the past and its new leader, Brussels Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard, has promised a policy of zero tolerance towards predator priests. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20100627/tts-uk-vatican-abuse-belgium-ca02f96.html |

The day the truth is known, one shall be free indeed of all falsehoods, ignorance, scare-mongering etc It's a pity, we will always have the poor with us but the training of the law of tithing (i.e. the schoolmaster) hints how they can be taken care of The bath water of course is dirty but hey do we have to throw the baby out with the dirty bath water No, hence the call to wash the baby with soap and clean water |
OgaJim:@OgaJim . . . a bit over your head was it? Is it OK to call giving tithe and others choose a different name for theirs? Answer: Semantics aside, if the giving was a tenth, what would that giving be? Technically it is tithe, isnt it? Is it only MONEY? Answer: This is a myopic assumption. Of course giving can be time, talent or financial contributions Name calling? Answer: Tell me is Gary - With the strikeouts, obviously not the same Oga Jim you dont half tell porkies. O ga ooo Jim. Na wa ooo. Viaro: Enigma:@^^^ Viaro sure legalism is one of the greatest robbers of Christian benefits, it robs people of their understanding of the Word of God and all of the benefits of the gift of Grace Enigma and others (i.e. crusaders) are we now expected to throw the baby out with the bath water? No, on the contrary, as Viaro has already mentioned clean up the act and get back what the devil has stolen or is destroying Tithing is a shadow of the antitype (i.e. the antitype is how it was meant to be or how the status quo was originally) Viaro has pushed the boat out and already stepped out at the deep end so you better know how to stand on Right. Why has this subject matter turned into an arduous task? Why is it failing to find the common ground and why problems having a mutual understanding? This is a one of the classic full circle moments of time Remember Cain & Abel's first free will offering >> then Abraham's Melchizedek tithe >> the Isralites Levitical tithe >> New Testament's free will offering Well Cain & Abel's free will offering is self explanatory as it is. Abel got it right but Cain somehow didnt manage to. Abraham's Melchizedek tithe was an offering of instinct, a way of saying thanks to God and demonstrating his acceptance of God as his Owner; Lord. Abraham's tithe had nothing to do with a pre-existing law but everything to do with a grateful heart and a love for God. Note that Abraham was moved to give the tithe and was not forced or compelled. The Isralites Levitical tithe needed the schoolmaster (i.e. the Laws of Moses) to justify tithes and make it mandatory Where the protagonists have a valid case with the perpetrators' methods of obtaining & flaunting their shameful gains Gary But we know giving of tithes was around before the law (i.e. the Schoolmaster) and that free will offering was before giving of tithes So the law (i.e. the Schoolmaster) did not invent tithing it only exposed it (i.e. similarly as the OT usually conceals the NT and the NT conversely reveals the OT) Just as the law (i.e. the Schoolmaster) has always steadily helped to establish the importance of many of the unwritten truths already known by the patriarchs it helped in the training of giving ontowards free-will giving by establishing the importance and relevance of tithing. Now that Jesus brought us grace and faith there is no longer the need for the supervision of the law (i.e. the schoolmaster) Jesus taught us to give. The New Testament admonishes us to give. Hey, tithing too, the forerunner has taught us how to measure our giving and showed us how (i.e. let us know where to begin). How good is that, eh? From the law (i.e. the Schoolmaster) we have the understanding that the purpose of tithing is for: 1) Supporting the work of God and the Kingdom of Heaven 2) Providing for His workers (i.e. DIY wealth gain or lucre is a big No No) 3) To support aliens; not ETs but rather strangers, the marginalised, the homeless, disadvantaged etc; the fatherless and widows The absence of any direct command in the NT to pay tithes does not relieve saints of the great privilege of giving, or does it? Tithe serves a helpful hint of where a dedicated believer could start giving from. The act itself is not to fulfil the law (i.e. satisfy the Schoolmaster) but rather a display acknowledging God as the one that provides and gives power to get or make wealth . . . Passing the humility test (i.e lofty, prideful or arrogant when successful test). Moses' Deu 8:17-18 NIV to the stiffed-neck Isralites:The full circle moment: free will offering >> tithe >> free will offering . . . back to square one. . . . Unlike Cain, I pray you get it right when doing the right thing, at the right time and remain in right standing with God whilst doing it . . . |
