Every course has its failure rate, so admitting failure here isn't good. Just get the run down of how things are supposed to be and leave the failure part.

So it will take a Nigerian brilliant child like 14 years to be a neurosurgeon in Nigeria while it take their US COUNTERPART 15-16 years.

others also attend NYSC so it is not exclusive only for doctors, waiting for 6 years before confirmation is African mediocrity. Roughly 13 years.....I must say.

Why did you scratch youth service, is it not compulsory prior to residency training?

If you have any clue as to the prerequisites for qualification of residency examinations then you will understand that certain subspecialties like Neurosurgery, ENT etc take an average of 7 years.

The pass rate of 2nd MB exam in UNN for eg is about 35%

The pass rate of 3rd MB exam is about 40%

The pass rate of 4th and 5th MB exam is 40 to 60%

The pass rate of primaries is 0 to 30%

The pass rate of part 1 is 25%

The pass rate of part 2 is 0-20%

Failure is equivalent to an extra year for medical school exams and an extra 6 months for postgraduate exams, so YES failure of exams is a HUGE factor.

Morotov1: 4 years of undergrad
4 years of medical school
3-7 years of residency
3 years of fellowship in subspecialty
that is roughly 15 years on the average in a system where things work perfectly.

In Nigeria
6-7 years med school
1 year housemanship
1 year youth service
4-8 years residency
6months to 1 year post residency before confirmation.
That is roughly 16 years on the average if you do not fail any exams, but can get to 20-22 years if not so lucky.

Inasmuch as I have a soft spot for Sullivan, it will be suicidal to tow the path of sycophancy.

The article has a lot of half truths and outright lies, however, the present era of politicians are mostly deaf to soft criticisms constructive or not.

They only seem to respond to harsh "threats" and criticisms that threaten their future ambition.

Thus, I have to say that so far the facts are clear, then the criticisms should rain down harshly.

You were bashing and swearing against any talk of creating any new state. However, this thread is about Imo state, but read all your posts here, they all show your Owerri-centric limits. Sure you won't be worried when this state govt soon starts paving the streets of Owerri with gold, while the rest of Imo state still yearn for the most elementary infrastrutures that sustain modern lifestyle in them to induce development all over the state. A Bishop in Ohaji/Egbema LGA just told Gov. Okorocha that the area is yet to see any one km of road tarred by Okorocha govt. You may be one of many like you who believe that modernization in Imo state must not extend anywhere beyond Owerri. If not, why were you so up in arms against creation of new states aimed to extend government closer to the people?

If you went through my posts prior to the data loss, you would have seen my dismay at the appalling condition of state roads in Imo, I remember mentioning the road leading to IMSUTH amongst others. I am anything but Owerricentric.

As regards state creation, I am in support of Anioma state.
However, further division of the already existing SE state does not necessarily mean an increase in revenue generation or even allocation, rather the redistribution of the meagre FG allocation to the various states, but with extra governors, commissioners, perm secs, members of house etc. Which to me is a colossal waste of funds on recurrent expenditure ( instead of capital projects desperately needed by our economy), given how expensive governance is in Nigeria.

What we should focus on is electing the right people not duplicity of functions.

This "Rascal" don suffer.

Does a HND in engineering make one an engineer?

Does a cursory membership of COREN make one a fellow?

If work has finished at that section, could someone tell ESWAMA to use their newly acquired street-sweeping vehicles to make those roads look spotless? I hate seeing dust/dirt/rubbish strewn about on the streets......especially newly constructed ones! They should borrow a leaf from Uyo!

PS- On the second set of pics just posted: I can see some rouge weeds growing by the sidewalks......ESWAMA please take note! These little things make the difference between a well-kept city, and one that's unkempt and gone to seed!
