PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Ongoing Projects In Ogun State by eaglechild: 6:15am On Dec 05, 2012
Ogun is a GROSS under achiever, that is not utilizing her proximity to Lagos optimally.
Abeokuta is a shadow of what it shld be(a glorified semiurban settlement, instead of a thriving tourist destination).
There is nothing of note in those pics.

The one with AMOSU in a pit struggling to commission a project is outright ridiculous!

AMOSU may well be doing some work.
However, going by these pics, i cant see anything impressive.

And now, let's talk about Jesus.

How His Spirit, speak through Solomon the wise, made it clear that a diligent man has no business standing before whinny commoners.

okpara ugo: I visited one man's house in Ohafia, Abia state, there wasnt any type of artefact i didnt see.

A table standing on carved elephant tusks(in wood), painting and wood carvings of ''Jesus dining with his disciples''(the best), wall mirror engraved in wooden art works, classicically carved furniture for sofa. I wasnt surprised since he was a billionaire.

I love this trend in Nigeria. We used to hear of art auctions as far back as the 80's in U.S. Now it's here.
It is an impressive trend.
Many of the buyers are foreigners though, who end up reselling to international art collectors and museums at higher prices.

“Grandma’s Cloth Series VI” worth N11.4M by El Anatsui(Oil on wooden panels, 132 x 262 cm. 1992)

CultureUniversity Of Nigeria Professor Of Arts Work Sells 11.4M at Ikoyi Auction! by eaglechild(op):
The ArtHouse Contemporary Limited auctions really deserves a resounding round of applause. Also laudable is the full-house gathering at every one of its editions. On its ninth edition last Monday at the Ikoyi, Lagos-based Wheatbaker Hotel, the biannual art event trundled on, in blissful oblivion of the gloomy economic prognoses of the outside world.

El Anatsui’s oil on wood panels “Grandma’s Cloth Series VI” (Lot 54) edged out others to become the auction’s bestselling work at the hammer price of N11.4 million.

Anatsui was born in Anyako, and trained at the College of Art, University of Science and Technology, in Kumasi, in central Ghana. He began teaching at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1975, and has become affiliated with the Nsukka group.(wikipedia).
Yusuf Grillo’s oil on board painting, “Sango Worshipper” sold for the hammer price of N 7.4 million, as the second bestselling work.
Ben Enwonwu’s oil on board painting, “Agbogho Mmoo” and his bronze head, “Remi”, sold for the hammer prices of N3 million and N2.5 million, respectively.

Granted, there was this homage to the masters, which accounted for the fact that their works clinched the first five positions as the bestselling works. Yet, it is undeniable that the bidders’ whims – albeit momentarily – seemed to take flight, far off into more conceptual realms. That explains why Nnenna Okore’s clay and burlap work, “Akwa Ocha”, could sell for a respectable hammer price of N1.5 million or Chidi Kwubiri’s pointillist oil and acrylic on canvas offering going for N1.1 million. Then call the N1.6 million hammer price sale of Peju Alatise’s mixed-media relief, “Aso-Bora”, a nod to both industry and creativity.

^^^Bros, i think you're refering to jetways......that would be nice and bring the airport terminal fuctionality up to date, but i don't think (going by what we see so far) that they have that in mind; the terminal building would have to be at least a story high for it to work.

They installed some at Asaba airport (as an afterthought, as it wasn't in the original design), and that is the way modern airports should be; but don't ask for too much b/4 they say we're being greedy....we should be happy with the one we've been given so far and not be an 'Oliver twist'. wink

Pic attached is Asaba airport during construction, and it illustrates my point.
Thanks for throwing more light.

I dont think the jetways will be asking for too much since it is an international airport.
It should be standard.

Your land lies is infested with extreme criminality and you sit down in Lagos talking crap. It's amazing that up till now, ohaneze has not made a single pronouncement on this extremely negative tendency of the ibo to make money out of the pains of their kith.continue to hide your head in the sand spuriously claiming 99% of Lagos and 101% of Abuja yet unable to go home for Xmas..pathetic lot

adjain: LOOOOL

All these mindless P-Square fans on here are all agitated. Go and sleep, all of you. Shoooo! Those Peter and Paul nigglets are copy-cats, and they do it shame-facedly.

That said, NIGERIA IS NOT A GOOD COUNTRY FOR JUDGING MUSIC BASED ON FOLLOWERSHIP. I mean, this is a country where Terry G's "Free Madness" was a smashing hit. And, yes, that was crap too. P-Square making hits doesn't mean their songs are good. It just means we have collectively done what we know how to do best : wriggle and writhe to junk
And i guess it's ok when Americans crave their own wrap artists.
Mind u P square is not just a Nigerian sensation.
You probably belong to the group that believes nothing good can come from Nigeria, yet u want another country to treat u with respect.
Pls quit that thing you've been smoking.
