The term non alcoholic beer is a misnomer, it does not exist. Same goes for non alcoholic wine. For a drink to be termed wine or beer it has to contain alcohol. |
OP you are doing a great job, i'm beginning to appreciate the pictures. Keep them coming. |
anataala: if the have not deserve those roads come and remove it, by the way go and ask your governor what the are doing with their own allocation from FGN and you should marry as many wife's as possible to get populated that is the formulaIt's not about the infrastructure. They appear fairly decent. It's just that anyone from the south will be naturally perplexed at the near absence of human existence. And yet the census figures tell us otherwise. |
This does not make sense. It means all i need to do is state that my child is from Yobe state. On the exam day, he just has to appear, stare at the ceiling and hand in his papers at the end and voila! he gains admission into a unity school. Meanwhile if he states Anambra with a score of 135 he is kicked out! QUOTA SYSTEM IS THE STRONGEST FACTOR THAT HAS LED TO THE DOWNFALL OF EDUCATION IN THIS COUNTRY! |
This place looks like an evacuated nuclear fall out zone. I must however commend the infrastructure which looks well maintained or perhaps should i say under utilized. I love the trees lining the airport road. The desolation is eerie, you dont need to even look out before crossing the road. |
Enugu has been filled up this christmas unlike the past. A lot of people came into the city. Enugu's population is really growing. The state government needs to step up to keep up with this or it will lose its serenity. I'll keep shouting out about SANITATION cause that's the first sector that feels the strain. |
See dirty toilet paper lying on the floor. Who is the photographer? |
Very innovative. Anything that promotes our culture should be encouraged. |

BARELY hours to Christmas Day, President Goodluck Jonathan, speaking at the foundation laying of the Living Faith Foundation’s Bible College in Kaduna, had a message for Nigerians: “Let me assure all of you and indeed all Nigerians that 2013 will be better for us than 2012 in all aspects of the nation’s history. The new year shall be better for us in terms of job creation, wealth creation and improved security among others,” he said. In one breath the President was challenging Nigerians to dare to hope that the oft- repeated promises to deliver dividends of democracy would be actualised in the New Year. At same time, his comments appeared to be an admission that his large cabinet had fallen short in meeting the expectations of longsuffering Nigerians in every area from security, to job creation to provision of electricity and basic infrastructure like roads. In a moment of defensiveness in the face on unrelenting criticism earlier this year, Jonathan vowed that he and his cabinet would no longer rely on the assessment of the media, but rate the government’s performance by themselves. In the real world that hardly makes sense because the entire cabinet put together cannot muster more than 50 votes, whereas the opinions of millions of voting Nigerians who don’t sit in the cabinet room would ultimate determine whether the administration has done well enough to be given another chance. This Sunday we begin an assessment of the Jonathan cabinet by allowing the people and experts in relevant areas to rate ministers on a scale of A to F. thenationonlineng.net/new/news/cabinet-ratings-high-flyers-and-the-flops/ |
Pete Edochie, one of Nigeria’s most talented and famous actors, is not dead as being speculated online, Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, said on Saturday. AGN president, Ibinabo Fiberesima, was quoted by a Lagos-based newspaper as saying that the 61-year old actor was alive and the report should be disregarded. Global Associated News, reported on Saturday that the veteran actor died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria. But Fiberesima said in a text message: “It is not true at all.” Born on 7 March 1947, Edochie is a seasoned administrator and broadcaster who came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in a Nigerian Television Authority adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all time bestselling novel, Things Fall Apart. He became so prominent after the NTA adaptation that the BBC flew into Nigeria to interview him for his role in Things Fall Apart. Edochie has featured in so many successful movies that the number seems not exhaustive. From ‘Terrible Sins in 2001 to more recent movies such as Secret Pain or Living with Death, Edochie is an A-list actor. http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/12/30/pete-edochie-alive-and-well/ |
KOGI State governor, Captain Idris Wada, has told medical personnel of Cedar Crest Hospital, Garki, Abuja where he is undergoing treatment for a fractured thigh not to fly him abroad, his spokesman, Jacob Edi, has said. Edi told Sunday Tribune, on Saturday, in Abuja, that the governor rejected suggestions that he should be flown abroad for further treatment. He also disclosed that the governor did not sustain life-threatening injuries and that he was in stable condition. “He has been receiving calls and he has made calls. He has also received visitors, including Vice- President Namadi Sambo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmadu Ali; and the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, among others. He is in stable health and his mind his stable,” the Special Adviser to the governor said. Meanwhile, the deputy governor, Awoniyi, who is currently holidaying in London, is still being expected. Awoniyi, who travelled out before the Christmas celebration, is expected to come back and take over the affairs of the state in the absence of Governor Wada. Reports emanating from government officials indicated that the Awoniyi is expected in the state before Monday as it would take the governor some time to recover fully to resume office. http://tribune.com.ng/news2013/index.php/en/component/k2/item/ |
Was wondering what this topic was doing on the front page till i read the OP's and Siena's posts. Very interesting read i must say. My parents loathed any creature that wasn't human. I suspect their hatred for pets brought them together. You lot are really fortunate, i never had the opportunity to live with pets. My brother once secretly sneeked a marmalade (striped) kitten that he freed from the thorn bushes in our garden, into the house. He thought it was a cute little kitten. He knew better not to let my dad see it. Dad was cool with a lot of stuff but definitely not a scratchy four legged creature. He felt mum was going to be down with him keeping it but little did he known that mum's hatred for pets was worse,up to the point of paranoia. Come see drama wey ensue when mum heard this human like 'miaw' in her beloved kitchen. Luckily for the poor kitten, my brother came to the rescue just before my mother's pestle landed on the spot where it lay. That marked the official end to all attempts at adopting pets in my house till date. Even now none of my siblings own pets (that is the easiest way to ensure my folks wouldn't visit). |
This year so many interesting and keenly debated topics have made it to the front page. On the other hand many wacky topics which seem to be on the increase lately have 'mysteriously' found there to the front page. I have put up a few of them. You can include yours and give reasons if u wish to. One man's meat is another's poison though. Siena: Your shoes are replaceable. Your feet aren't.Lol That's true, but i wouldnt want to crease a new pair of Italian shoes the first time i'm wearing them. |
Source?? I hope u are just trolling. |
Why put a giant inverted golden beer can next to a classic mansion? Each should stand alone. |
Chinwem: I beg to differGuess the use of 'naive' was rather brash. I just wanted u to have a less biased view. |
Chinwem: Thanks Op for sharing thisDont be naive. No one is defending the company. U have to weigh all sides of the story. It's all too common for passengers who have appointments to catch to mount pressure on the driver to continue a journey late into the night. It is left for the driver to resist such. |
That was very callous of the driver, but the passengers have the power to prevent the driver from continuing the journey. I'm sure the the passengers were divided and the more vocal ones got their wish. The driver still has the power to overule them though |
It's Chrisrtmas not xmas. |

This is very good culture transfer. No need to hate be it azonto or alingo, dance styles evolve and many are related to one another. |
FIRSTFOCUS: You are a wicked soul, u must be one of those that dine with devil, you should'nt wish even your enemy to die. When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices. When the wicked perish there are shouts of joy. This is biblical injuction being fulfilled. |
I pray for y'all to become gainfully employed and subsequently less relevant on nairaland come 2013 Amen. |

How will this improve the quality of life of the Okokomaiko resident? MSCHEEW! |
Just coming from ESWAMA office now. Met the secretary to the director(was not on sit) and laid a complaint on the pile of litter scattered infront of the house of assembly and Okpara square. She was very understanding and explained to me that the director was new. There also seemed to be some issues with the payment of the ground crew members. She put a call thru to the director immediately and conveyed the complaint. Will still return and put it in writing. Pls anyone who can should also do the same. |
spyder880: Silent but very effective way of delivering leadership service by being less visible but more action oriented. What do u have to sat about the present sanitary condition of Enugu metropolis, cause i strongly belive it is linked to the absence of the governor. |
centje: It's really annoying. The best is to privatise the agency. What makes it unbearable is the exhorbitant sanitation rates one has to cough up for nothing!! For no service rendered whatsoever. My folks keep complainig about this when i visit them. They live at Independence Layout and are constantly exploited by ESWAMA. They once got a court injunction for not cleaning their spotlessly clean gutter. They had no choice but to pay the ghost fine. One can imagine how they fill when they drive out to see littered streets! |
PROUD-IGBO:I'm beginning to accept that the gov's absence has a lot to do with it. But, it baffles me to know that the heads of the concerned parastatals drive thru these same streets and dont seem to give a damn!! |
Tmr i'll go out with my camera and get some pics! This is so annoying. |
