No offence pls, but i still put it to u dat ur so called holding accountable speech is hatred beclouded sweetie.
call it whatever you like, the guy is right. It is high time we started holding the guys in power accountable. So, you prefer ASUU go back to classes based on verbal assurance from FG? You want them to go back to classes knowing fully well that GEJ may renege on his promises? SMH |
people keep saying that ASUU strike is political, that it wasn't GEJ but Yaradua who entered into the agreement with ASUU. . . . Why is it hard for Nigerians to understand that government is continuity? . . That it doesn't matter who was the sitting president at the time the agreement was signed. . . . That ASUU entered into an agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria, and not with an individual. . . why are finding it hard to understand these things? . . Moreover ordering lecturers back to classes is a NO NO. |
Phema, Could you please include prices/costs or estimated prices/costs. This will go a long way in helping some people to plan their budget. NB Am still single, but seriously considering the Gift I am with now. 2014 shall not pass me by, In Jesus Name. Amen |
I thought this topic has been over debated. By His Grace I will be settling down soon with my Angel. In all my years of playing the field I have never dated a girl that does not cook for me. My gal at UNILAG will come from Amina hall to El kanemi just to cook for me. (You all think UNILAG babes don't do it...) . after uni, my girl leaves her parents house sometimes to mum's house (especially when mum is not around) just to cook . when I began staying alone, no girl am dating ever forms that rubish of "I cannot cook for you, cos we are not married"...even the gbo gbo big gals wey their papa hold cash . . . so, my question is "WHERE DO NL GIRLS COMES FROM?" . . . ARE THEY NOT THESE SAME GIRLS WE SEE EVERYDAY, LOOKING FOR MADE MEN & ELIGIBLE BACHELORS? . . . WHAT ON EARTH WILL MAKE ME DISRESPECT MY WOMAN BECAUSE SHE COOKS FOR ME? . . . I guess I must be lucky to have dated girls who will not wait to be asked before they go to the market to get stuffs they will cook for moi! #Amoutahere |
sultaan: Why people change your fuel pump in the first place and not the filter is mind bogglingthe fuel pump failed. Two different mechanics confirmed this. Infact the second mechanic was referred to me by one my mentors, a senior citezen. @Sultan, are you saying it could be the changed fuel pump that caused the engine to sieze? As Per Merry xmas to my mechanic, am not so sure.... cos the second guy is not even my regular mechanic. Also who knows the price of a belgium V6 engine for toyota sienna. |
@Ikenna, Is it possible for a higher model fuel pump, to affect the engine of a car? .. . . I changed the Sienna's fuel pump with a 'new' V8 fuel pump a day before the engine siezed. My car has V6 engine and has been using a V6 fuel pump. But the mechanic that came to check the fuel pump said that he will replace it with a V8 fuel pump. The next day the engine siezed. |
RIP Vivianc. The last time she posted was on the 18 of November. I feel sad. |
Monday, 08 June 2009 21:11 Mohammed Marwa On Sunday, Professor Taiyemiwo Ogunade gave a bombshell interview to the NATION newspaper in which he made startling revelations about those who killed Dele Giwa in 1986. In a subsequent chat with Saharareporters, he spoke specifically about the role of former military administrator of Lagos State Buba Marwa in the assassination of the journalist. Dr. Ogunade disclosed that soldiers loyal to the slain General Mamman Vatsa identified Marwa as the person who delivered the parcel bomb that killed Giwa, the Newswatch magazine founder. He said the revelation came from a confidential discussion he had with one of the military boys who came to the City University of New York (CUNY) to press the college to train Nigerian military officials in “Peace and Conflict Resolution”. He said that Vatsa gave a four-hour long testimony to the military tribunal that tried and later sentenced him to death for a phantom coup plot against former military dictator, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida. Saharareporters: Do you know who delivered the bomb that killed Dele Giwa? Ogunade: I believe that Buba Marwa did it. Some Mamman Vatsa boys told the full story in New York during a visit to my college to lobby our college to accept to train Nigerian military officers. Ambassador Olusola was on that entourage. [My informant] told me Dele Giwa was killed because he was in possession of a tape containing Vatsa’s testimony before the military tribunal. For four hours, Vatsa requested to tell the full story about how the Babangida regime was operating and his knowledge of the workings of IBB’s mind. He pointed out that after Halilu Akilu and Col. A.K Togun of the military intelligence prepared the parcel it was handed over to Buba Marwa to deliver to Dele Giwa. Marwa is a well–known “IBB boy”. But I was the one who gave Dele Giwa the tape. Saharareporters: How did you get the tape? Ogunade: Vatsa had a copy made by his friends in the tribunal and smuggled out to me and I “loaned” it to Dele Giwa who got on the case immediately. I still don’t know how Dele Giwa found out that I had the tape till this day. Saharareporters: Do you still have a copy? Ogunade: Yes, but you know I left Nigeria hurriedly after the death of Dele Giwa. I left [the tape] with my aged mother, who did not know the value then. I won’t say more, let the military release that tape to the Nigerian public. Saharareporters: Did Dele Giwa return the tape to you? Ogunade: Yes, he returned it after 24 hours. Don’t forget that I loaned it to him; I think he went and played it to Babangida’s people and they eliminated him after they heard the tape. Saharareporters: What about Gloria Okon? It’s been said that Dele Giwa’s discovery of her was the reason he was killed? Ogunade: Gloria Okon is actually Chinyere, that’s her real name. She married Charles "Jeff" Chandler, the fellow who killed Nzeogwu and was killed a day later. Chinyere, Maryam and Princess Atta were young friends who hung out together. They all married into the military, because the military was a proud and respectable profession then. Charles Chandler, who was Tiv, married Chinyere who I think is from Imo State . IBB married Maryam from Asaba and Mamman Vatsa married the princess. So Chinyere became a widow and resorted to trading between UK and Nigeria . And then she was caught with drugs; Mamman Vatsa was the person who put Chinyere on the next available flight from Kano to London – and then claimed that she was dead by parading a dead woman picked out of the mortuary. Dele Giwa later found out that she was in London having delivered a baby by another man. He sent a French photographer to the place and they saw Maryam Babangida at the event. Kayode Soyinka brought back the photographs. Dele was sitting across the table from Kayode examining the photos taken of “Gloria Okon” (Chinyere, Richard Chandler’s wife) at the naming ceremony in London . Maryam Babangida was there. And then a letter parcel was delivered to him and he said excitedly that it must be from “Mr. President” referring to the discussions he had with IBB days earlier. The bomb exploded and severed his lower abdomen; he died a few hours later. Saharareporters: Did you ever meet Marwa again? And did you ask him about his involvement? Ogunade: Yes, Marwa was very active in the Nigerian embassy in New York . For a long time he was the “military attaché” to the Nigerian mission in New York while I was a professor of Black Studies at the City University of New York. He came to my college to sign a $30 million contract with the college so that members of the Nigerian military could attend a “Peace and Conflict Resolution program” and then be awarded a masters degree upon completion of the program. I fought bitterly against it, but the chair of the department, John Muyibi Amoda, badly wanted the money. I kept fighting and one day the college authorities acceded to my request. When I got home the college had dismissed me, but also I got a fax message saying the $30 million had been returned to Marwa. But between Marwa and Abacha they never returned that money to the Nigerian treasury. They shared it. I heard between him and Abacha, over $250 million was laundered through an account used by the New York mission of the Nigerian embassy. Marwa later set up an airline with his share of the loot. When he showed up to run for president I was the one who petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate him. He confessed to money laundering in handwritten statements to the EFCC, but today he is the ambassador of Nigeria to South Africa . The police officer that investigated him, Ibrahim Magu, is permanently suspended from the police force after he was humiliated by the EFCC. It is a shameful country. Saharareporters: What else did you do? Ogunade: We helped start the Obama phenomenon in Chicago . Saharareporters: How? Ogunade: We fought and exposed Carol Mosley-Braun who was Abacha’s agent in the US Senate. She was removed from the US Senate because she took $5 million from Abacha to help cover his tracks in the US . We exposed her, which was how it became possible for the brilliant Obama to become the US president today. We set the stage for it. Monday Iyomahan
|
gurnam: Nice way to disengage....before a reputation assiduously built over years of hard work and toiling will be soiled. Are sure that SURE-P (pun intended), is not already embroiled in controversies? |
. |
Geometrix: @eagle.eye,Bro, Please you need to drastically cut on the spending. Don't give her the impression that you are Desperate. (Though the shallow ones will likely see you as being desperate.) A lady who sees you for who you are will not want to rip you off. All the best. |
Many Nigerians of my generation are very much aware that IBB's govt killed Dele Giwa and that IBB institutionalized corruption. The author, ex -Army officer, is not saying anythin new. I very much doubt if this guy is not as corrupt as others who served in IBB's regime. . Why do you guys think that IBB, has remained untouchable ever since he relinquished power? . Most of the guys accusing IBB, are in one way or another guilty of what the same accusation.. |
Keep religion out of it. You're assuming I'm a Christian?
Ok Ma. |
mustaphagreens: I so much love catholics and catholicism. Those guys(catholics) are so unique! If only other christians could take a cue from them we wouldn't be having the hypocrisy we're seeing in our society anymore. Don't get it twisted, i'm a muslim who's only missing the good old days as a MARIST back in the days as a student. Once a Marist, Always a Marist!! Happy sunday and i wish you guys a blissful christ the king celebration. Peace! You are Marist guy.........WoW. |
^^^ There is no magic formula for these kind of things. "All things worketh together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 |
^^ There's a difference between making your marriage intentions known on the first date (I still think that's odd and I for one won't take such a person seriously) and expecting your intended to quickly say "I do" within a very short period of meeting. Yes, by all means, let your intentions be known from the start but do not expect the other person (girls especially) to jump into a wedding gown just because you're tired of the dating game.
The Bolded is so true about so many ladies. And I am saying that it's not all guys who want to keep beating about the bush. |
I think the Op should encourage him, and at the same time tell him to date/court her for sometime, to enable them learn each other. If the guys intentions are noble, he will be very happy with this answer. She may regret it, if she outrightly rejects him and another accepts him shortly after that.
Efe, did you at least read the bolded in my earlier post? I wasn't advocating for any quick fix marriage. I am of the opinion the OP should give this guy a chance, let both of the date and study each other. Marriage is about compatibility, tolerance and two forgivers being in a union. Some guys don't believe in beating about the bush before making their intentions known. A Scenerio: "Babe, I like you. Even though I don't really know you, but I wouldn't mind if you let me into your life. I have come off age, and I am looking forward to settling down at the earliest possible time. If all things work out fine between us, we may become man and wife at the end of the day" ................ ....... ..... How about the above on a first date? |
Politicians are just slumping and dying anyhow......... So if the guys who have access to better health care are dying like this, what is expected of the poor masses. |
The only exception I see to this (taking your time), are cases of arranged marriages - which isn't the case for @OP or you either, abi?
Okay ohh. But I saw a thread yesterday about some guy who wants to break of a 7 years relationship. Abeg, ladies in the house you can date as long as possible so that you can find all the 'skeletons' you are looking for. Like someone will say, when you date for so long you begin to see irrelevant things. To each his/her own. |
Annie2gud: @Eagle its Qui sera sera*winkz*thankz |
^^ Well said jare. Marriage is a serious game played by two adults. It's not about how quickly one get's married - but how long one REMAINS married.
Efe, I still maintain that a time comes in a guys life that he gets fed up with all these dating and quiting, and all he wants to do then is find that serious babe who can complment him as a life partner. I have never said that Dating or Courtship should be removed from the picture. If the lady is ripe enough for marriage, she should try dating or courting this guy and see if they are compatible. But sometimes when a guy makes his intentions about settling down known before starting the dating, some ladies get scared and take to their heels. Only for them to stop and try to retrace their steps to the guy, but sometimes the guy has moved on to the next Lady who is ready to study him and if all things work out for both, they will become man and wife. NB Ladies shouldn't get scared immediately a guy mentions marriage at the beginning. I have cousins who dated for a short time with their husbands before tying the knot. And their marriage still stands after so many years. |
kenyarttar: O boy what the fu[ck is "get it over with"? Na quickie you dey talk about abi na marriage? You just end up sounding like a truant student killing himself the night before exams to crash cram while his mates have been studying since the start of the semester. Tell him to chill the fu[ck out and date some more. It's never good to make life decisions when one has an e[rection (the relationship is still at the initial gra gra lovey dovey stage)Please try reading my whole posts before resorting to the use of gutter language. |
Mister Dan: Ddnt leave then cos I thought I could forgive her misdeeds. I did and I think it gave her more nerves.....Bro, it's your life. So live it the way you want. You already made up your mind, so why not man up and do the needful. |
prosper86: Thanks y'all for all d advice , I have discussed with him and he has agreed to postpone d introduction till we r ready,we have agreed to date for sometime,my mom adviced that I see his mom as agreed tomorrow so as to get a feel of his family and also see our pastor.May the Good Lord guide you and let His light shine on your path. Amen. NB It's a good decision. Relax and let nature play its role. Que Sera Sera. |
Mister Dan: You wont understand till you get into my shoes.... this is a girl I caught cheating with a married man when she was serving which she claimed was as a result of loneliness.....In what year of the relationship did you catch her cheating? And why didn't you leave then? I think this is a case of looking for any justifiable reason to take a walk. Bro, you need not justify anything. Afterall we don't know you. |
Mister Dan: I started dating this chick right from my university days. Been a lot of ups and down but right now she doesn't seem like the right choice of a future partner cos of her crazy ways. i would be committing myself to a long life of pain and regrets if i toe that path. Pls how do i make the separation easy on her? Confused dudeYou didn't know of her crazy ways for 1,2,3,4,5,6 & 7years. SMH for you. NB Do unto others that which you will want them to do to you. I ain't advocating that you should marry her by fire or force. Mba. But watch your back after taking that decicion to take a walk. |
idnoble135: Why should you? To me, him being in such a hurry should make you suspicious. If he has nothing in his cupboard, it means he is simply immature. There is no need to rush into a relationship that you will spend the whole of your life time in.Sometimes, a guy gets to that stage where he just wants to get it over with. At that particular point and time, he just wants to settle down and move on with life. But I have observed from experience, that women get scared of this type of guys...... thinking they have skeletons in the cupboard (some do have). NB I think the Op should encourage him, and at the same time tell him to date/court her for sometime, to enable them learn each other. If the guys intentions are noble, he will be very happy with this answer. She may regret it, if she outrightly rejects him and another accepts him shortly after that. In my case, I have dated a lot of women and found that physically it is the same thing 'down there'. But if you matured and patient, you can equally handle all women character wise. So it got to the point, where I will first hint marriage before I start dating/courting properly. But women, will then see you as being desperate....LoL |
doxime: ^^^.....Guy, that song was done by Craig David.thanks for the correction. |
^^ Now that's some real ish that rings alarm bells. Why didn't your ex want to go for medicals? What was she afraid of, if you don't mind my asking, eagle eye?
Annie2gud: @Eagle Eye..that was so PiECe.you held me spellbound.so why didnt she go for the medicals?pls answer, and dont keep me waiting.AnnieWell she knew that once she goes for medicals and everything comes out right, she wouldn't have any other reason not to proceed as planned. Her parents are already in agreement and my family are ready for us to tie the knot ASAP. But she felt she was being rushed and needed to slow things down. While slowing things down my sister got curious just like you ladies and started saying things.... In short my family became "extra careful". But I knew there was nothing wrong with her. I tried talking to her to go for the medicals, then we will take it slowly so that she can get to know me well. But you know ladies now, she started playing hard..... I took a walk and never looked back. NB I also had the No Medical ish with another lady.... but this time I am already pro in the game. I pitied the second person, because when I took a walk she became frantic. Trying to win me back by all means, but it was already late. Cos my Angel was already in the picture and we were waxing stronger everyday. |
I met this gurl Monday Took her for a drink on Tuesday We were making on Wednesday, and on thursday, Friday, and saturday, we chilled on sunday. . . . I love that song by Joe. . . .@OP, I once met a lady from my villa, I liked her the first time we spoke on the Phone. After about 3weeks phone conversation, my sister convinced her to come to Abia state to meet me. We met and really liked each other. (we met in November of that year). By December, we wanted me to proceed with wine carrying and everything. Babe developed cold feet. By January, we broke off. Due largely to the fact that the girl was afraid and didn't want to go for a medical test. . Fast forward June of that year 2011, she was lamenting to a her friend in front of me how we were rushing her. But by then I already moved on. . Later this babe got preggy for a guy in their school, the absconded and she had the baby but unfortunately baby died. .She is still single and searching. I am still single but not searching anymore. Cos very soon, I will proceed with marriage rites of my present gurl. . . Why the long sermon/epistle, sometimes we allow fear to over shadow us and make us miss our goal. |
anonimi: Great economic analysisLoL Actually Igbo. And I love looking beyond the obvious. Living is all about economics. |
I agree with those who say that Gas is cheaper. I used to use Kerosene (that is stove) even though I have a table cooker. But after sometime I decided to try Gas and at the same time compare it with kerosene. OBSERVATION . 4 litres of Kerosene @600, does not last more than 2weeks for me. But 3 kg of gas @1000 lasts more than 3weeks but not up to a month. . Stove darkens my pot and makes me spend extra money on VIM and Morning fresh for cleaning up. When I use gas for cooking, I only worry about washing up my dishes normally without extra effort and money. . Cooker burns things faster than kerosene stove. NB I have come to realise that the more the quantity of gas bought, the less I pay. Just last week I bought 7kg of gas for #2100 and I am sure it's likely to last me till the end of the year. |
