Most break-ups I have had, were mainly due to the person I am. Not as a result of character flaws or the babe not liking me or she was cheating.
So if you didn't accept me the way I am, the first time... why will you accept me that way now. So, My personality has not changed and nothing will really change a second, then why waste that time.

Lols... am just a learner.

yasuleiman: May God bless you, this thread has bin very useful. Its funny how we overlook things, while they can be of great benefit. As a graduate you need to make a difference. Am self-employed and i think i would like to venture into transport biz also. If a driver delivers ₦4K/day, who will be responsible for fuel, car wash e.t.c
Though I pay him salary now, but that will have to stop by Febuary. Fuel and washing the car is on him.
While maintenance is on me.

@Ramalot, I have made enquiry about the tracking device and was told that it is about 45k. Hope to get a tracker of the 15k you quoted. But only a few people are in the tracking biz in the east and they don't advertise... if you or anyone reading this know of a company that can equip my car with a tracker in the east, I will be grateful. At least it's another angle of corroborating your driverks story.

If it is a HIGHER PURCHASE business, then you buy a bus and give it to a driver. Calculate all you must have spent in getting the bus running (i.e. cost of vehicle and registeration), you give your driver a target amount to render to you on weekly or monthly basis. This target amount includes, initial cost and estimated profit. Most times the driver will be the one that will take care of maintenance and after completion of the term of agreement will own the car.

In theory, HIGHER PURCHASE is good. But in reality a greedy driver will go for maximum returns in a very short time. He will make the enough money to buy his own car and come back to tell you that he cannot continue with the terms agreed. Give you back your car (which is most often a write off/scrap) and go and buy his own bus.

Again goodluck.

hardbody: Hi TJ,

Please give me further update and heads up on the second option. It's the second time I hearing this and I do not know the least step to take in realizing this. How do I get the transport companies involved, what is the modus of payment, what do we gain, who has the reversionary interest on the bus. You may send me a mail on hard_body99@yahoo.com. I will so appreciate.
The second option TJ is talking about should be the Franchise system of running a transport company.
Let's say you buy a bus (New/high grade Tokunbo, depends on the company's policy), you register it with the company (say, Peace Mass or Young). Normally you will have to paint your car the company's colour and they have a percentage of your income for using their Company Logo and Name. On the part of the company, they will monitor your vehicle and can even provide a driver for you and sometimes help you to manage your cashflow (but it is always advisable to provide your own driver and make your driver account for you).

But before you go this route, make sure you have done your due dilligence on the company. Visit the company and find out some things about how they operate. Goodluck.

@Obalola7, you did a fantastic job with your analysis. Staffing is one of the major problems bedevelling almost all forms of business enterprises in Nigeria. But it is more pronounced in the transport sector.

Most of the drivers out there have the mindset that, they are the ones doing all the work and risking their lives on the roads. So why should they be honest in rendering accounts to the owner. They forget that the owner/manager has to channel all other reources of biz (Capital {Motor vehicle and money for registeration and maintenance}, human resource mgt {motivating the driver, in form of salary and other incentive}, planning {in form of expanding the biz and adding more fleet} and most especially dealing with other external factors that may influence the biz).

Before I went into Inter city transport, I had to do a lot of brain storming and I actually had to drive the vehicle myself, for a period of two months before registering with a State Transport company. As I am writing this, I still doing more brain work (thinking of the best way to keep my driver motivated and keep the car running). For instance, I have to give my driver the last week of 2012 (i.e. 24th to 29th). All the money he got that week was his to keep and the vehicle also conveyed his family to and fro from there village.

So managers of transport biz should sometimes compromise to keep the staff happy and keep the morale high.
But never withhold the rod of punishment if they want to take you for granted. The staff wants the job as well as you want the money.

caropy: i have a friend who did it, in one year he got his money back and over, he wants to sell the bus now at the same price he got it and he is already having good deal on it. he first started with hire, and for one reason or the other the driver dropped the key willingly (though he was delivering consistently). he got another driver but on daily return.

told my hubby if we need to do it we will go to Lord's chosen or Deeper life and get someone who his pastor is the guarantor can be sure our brethren there will be faithful.
If it wasn't profitable, people won't be venturing into it. But in Nigeria we believe everybody is a 'Fraud'. We use the brush to paint everybody and we are surprised when the west make negative comment against us or outright discrimination.
Business › Re: Danfo Business-is It Worth Investing On? by eagleeye2: 11:21pm On Jan 15, 2013
Like I said earlier on this thread, my parents equally ventured into transport biz, but they failed. It didn't deter me. Rather I learned from their failure.
Business › Re: Danfo Business-is It Worth Investing On? by eagleeye2: 11:18pm On Jan 15, 2013
Maybe the failure rate is higher in Lagos than elsewhere because LASMA, etc. But I believe that this failure rate has not made Danfo owner's in the same Lagos to reduce.
Anyway, I stay in the east and I am registered under one of those established transport company (more or less a Franchise). I don't even see my car from week to week. I only get to see it when it is time for servicing.

OP, I believe you are literate/learned it's time you school yourself in the financial world or you can take your money to a less risky business that will give you "peace of mind".
Business › Re: Danfo Business-is It Worth Investing On? by eagleeye2: 7:49pm On Jan 15, 2013
amiskurie: sounds cool, pls where do you live.I need to venture in the danfo business too.I already ventured in the truck business and I think danfo will be cool too.
What model of bus is good for the job and hw much does it cos.
DONT WORK FOR MONEY,LET UR MONEY WORK F0R U! grin
I stay in the east and I use a sienna van for the biz.

Every biz is risky, but if you don't take risk how will you succeed. It is better to try and fail, than not to try at all.

Ericomoto: Thanks, what are the pitfalls? and how much is delivery per day/week? and what other conditions as per maintenance of vehicle etc do I need to know?
I will use mine as an example, My driver is a middle aged family man. I went for a family man who is responsible to himself and family. He knows that if he defaults, no questions asked... I will withdraw the vehicle from him.
I have my own mechanic, he works my personal car as well the commercial vehicle. If my driver works the car, it is on his own account, unless I gave the go ahead order.
My weekly return is 25k, 4k everyday and 1k extra. If he defaults without a cogent reason, I withdraw my car.

so far, we all respect ourselves.
Personal for me, capital NO because my family has done it before and majority of the drivers are unreliable, cannot be trusted and can send someone to an early grave. They will deliver your money on time when you first start and then soon afterwards its one excuse after another, if you are the type of person that cannot handle stress ....do not go into this business grin
I hate it when people try to discourage others where they have failed. You failed doesn't mean another person will fail.

Op, I know this thread is from last year. Am into transport business, my parents did transport business when we were small and they failed like so many other people may have told you.
But I still went into the business. The key to success in the biz is to make sure that everyone, gets his due reward. The Car, The driver and you the owner/manager.

If your heart is in it, go for it. Actually, am into inter city shuttle and so far so good.
Goodluck.

If your woman is the last girl in a poor family, No wahala.
If she is an only child or orphan living with uncles, No wahala.
But if she is the first or second daughter in a family of 5, 6 or 7 with younger brothers & sisters.... my brother run.
Family › Re: Marrying For Comfort by eagleeye2: 1:44pm On Jan 15, 2013
As a guy, am already comfortable. (from birth). So I will marry for "Peace of Mind" and Love (that is if it comes my way). But if not, I marry the girl that will give me the least wahala in marriage. I promise to provide for and the children, but if wahala come too much for her side... I go find a safe haven elsewhere.

Almost every woman and man wants comfort, but if a lady marries solely for the comfort, she should pray very hard that she is marrying a man with conscience who will not send her to an untimely grave.

Romance › Re: Top Ten Signs Of A Desperate Man by eagleeye2(op): 7:31pm On Jan 14, 2013
You know the funny thing is that guys think that once your able to sleep with a girl, then she will be the one to lose when things fall apart. That is why you have so many threads being opened by guys, describing the ex as a "Gold Digger".

Abeg guys, so many Naija babes know that there are very few virgins remaining and that the pu*ssy has No Meter. So them go just open leg for una and still chop una money.

A girl can use a guy (as well as a guy using a girl). So sleeping with her and spending the little earning you got does not make you smart.

I will end by saying, "A lady is like an express way, you don't know those who have passed through it, neither those who will still pass through it after you."

But I can't change my nature (talking about no 9), but recently I have been very cautious.
Romance › Top Ten Signs Of A Desperate Man by eagleeye2(op): 2:03pm On Jan 14, 2013
In the dating world, a desperate man is one who is over-eager, anxious, presumptuous and willing to be with any woman to avoid being alone. Women can spot desperation in a man from miles away, and if you suffer from it, you’ll never stand a chance at getting any girl. A man who is desperate may have a strong want and desire to have a relationship; however, his behaviors can indicate low-self esteem and a host of other issues that turn women off and can actually be viewed as creepy and disturbing.
Here are 10 warning signs that can help you determine if you fit under the portrait of a desperate man:

1. Dropping your standards Desperate men are prepared to drop their dating standards to fill the huge emotional void in their life. Whether they want children or intimacy the desperate man will date who they have too to avoid being alone. They will be with any woman just for the sake of being attached while failing to realize that it’s better to be single and wait for the girl who is their type.

2. Constantly fishing for compliments The desperate man has low self-esteem, a poor self-image and needs to constantly hear how great he is and be assured of things. It doesn’t take long for women to get tired of constantly stroking your ego.

3. Overly Calling/Emailing/Texting Her If you want to run a woman off quickly, one of the best ways to do it is to overly call, email or send text messages early in a relationship, especially when she hasn’t returned any of your messages. The desperate man makes the fatal mistake of calling the woman he’s dating and asking “Did you just call me?” after receiving a call from an unrecognized number.

4. You’re always available Always being available makes women think that you don’t have a life of your own and actually lessens your own attractiveness, making you far less desirable. Being a challenge to women makes you more desirable.

5. You move too fast in relationships The desperate man will spend every single day with a new girl for weeks and never know basic information about her that normally should have been covered in the first few dates. Although finding love is based on each individual relationship and some people move quicker than others, the desperate man will move so quickly with things like intimacy and s*x that he will turn a woman off with his frantic desire for a relationship.

6. You’re constantly buying her gifts A desperate man constantly showers a woman with gifts without realizing that eventually she will become less thrilled and even annoyed receiving them. Even though the thought is nice, after a while the concept will begin to lose its meaning and she is going to get tired of always getting something.

7. Not giving her enough time and space Desperate men tend to be a bit on the invasive side when they always need to hang out at a woman’s home for hours on end, not respecting the fact that she has a life of her own life. Women don’t always want to hang out with you day in and day out and will quickly end relationships with guys not respecting their need for space.

8. You’re in constant agreement with everything she says Desperate men just sit there and agree with everything a woman says, thinking that’s what she wants. In reality, women want someone who is going to stimulate their minds and are not turned on by men they can completely control has no backbone.

9. You make her the center of your life too fast Desperate men tend to make the first woman that will go out with them the only person in their life and not take the time to continue dating and getting to know other women. Telling a woman “You’re the only woman in the world for me” before the three-week period will have her running for the hills.

10. Being overly nice all the time If a guy is too nice, too accommodating and tries to be the most giving person to a woman, she will begin to think he’s being insincere and will lose romantic interest quickly. She’ll also think that he’s only trying to achieve one thing: to get into her pants.
