PoliticsRe: Lagos Airport Scandal: Sanwo-Olu Suspends Staff Collecting COVID-19 Test Fee by EagleNest(m): 6:50am On Oct 25, 2021
In February this year, someone I know couldn't board because her paid PCR test receipt couldn't show on her phone immediately after she paid, uptill when the boarding gate was being closed. According to her, everything she did or showed the airline as evidence of payment was ignored because they said Nigeria government insisted on only seeing that particular receipt. She has to cough out another money to re-book next day flight to Lagos. The PCR Receipt finally showed the next day morning. The bottom line is that Nigeria government suffer its citizens unnecessarily without having the faintest idea how it hurts. A very simple process like booking for PCR test suddenly become complicated to give headaches to citizens and create such an environment for corruption to thrive. I doff my cap for the people that insisted not pay to private account. We should show defiance sometimes to correct passive corruption.

Mbaka that supported Buhari twice and we all saw the result- hardship and chaos. For the fact that he is rooting for Maduka means Anambrarians should insist on Soludo. Don't be swayed by Religious Business men.

Spare me all the blames, twist and turn of Nigeria history. Let's be pragmatic...Igbos will remain an albatross on the neck of Nigeria until we all learn to live together in mutual respect of others (if that will ever happen) or preferably we all go our seperate ways. One must give.

There are many agencies and parastatals with duplicate functions. Eg ICPC, EFCC and CCB have similar functions. It needs to be merged into one.
Federal government needs to reform its public sector. It needs prunning.

Actually, it was Saharareporters that broke the news first, even Jonathan himself said he read about his boss death first on Saharareporters, all southern region did their part in making a president, South East need to stop behaving like they are the only region that supported gej
If there is no event, there won't be news to report or even history. Dora forced the event to happen, leading to agitations and pressures on the legislators, culminating in making Jonathan an "acting President". This was after obviously a heavy internal fight within the cabinet to pretend all is fine. How manage you failed to spot the elephant in the room? Is it because it will give small credit to Igbos? Calm down, it is just to reawaken our memory on how "few" sterling humans with brave spirit rose to the occasion to get us to do the right thing.

All dora did was talk and after that the yar'adua cabal did not handover to jona until people started protesting , the people that walk the talk were south west, that's where it all started from, don't also forget that it was obasanjo(a yoruba man) that pave way for him to become president, so stop this "we made him president" bullshit
Without Dora bravely speaking out in a cabinet made up of ministers from all political zones who chose to bury their heads on sand like Ostriches, there wouldn't have been redemption and Jonathan would have remained shut off. A whole VP is left incommunicado by a cabal formed by Turai to protect power. Thank God Dora stood up! Nigerians should stop this wicked silence when evil is being perpetrated at high places or to next neighbor. It bodes us no good rather it reduces the life span of Nigeria as a standing entity. You can as well take the credit if you want, it just that we don't learn lessons at all.

babaolofin:
The IBOS, I repeat it again, the IBOS have never played any active part in the 13 percent derivation battle. Also, they played no active role in the abolition of Onshore and Offshore dichotomy battle. Even when Jonathan was having problems as VP while Yaradua was on life support in Saudi Arabia, they played no active role. The only interpretation Pa Ben Nwabueze gave about the constitution is that the VP has no executive power until he is given by the President. Now, the President was on life support in Saudi Arabia with the executive power according to his Minister of Justice ( Michael Aondoakaa), the Northern Senators insisted a letter was not transmitted to them by the President to make Jonathan an acting President. The internal scheming and the mass action that followed, the IBOS were very absent. They only became active when Jonathan got power.

This observation becomes important following the last failed Southern Governors Forum meeting at Enugu.
And Dora Akunyili that saved the day after all the shenanigans of Turai and her cabals escaped your mind abi? How would Nigerians have known what was going on with Yardua if not for Dora. And till today it is the same thing Igbos do, "fight injustice" even when they stand to benefit nothing.
PoliticsRe: 3 Nigerians Who Are Not Yoruba But Currently Holding Political Offices In Lagos by EagleNest(m): 9:35am On Oct 19, 2021
SmokedWhiskey:
Even when the likes of Gowon and IBB who were once head of states based in Lagos during the military era period when the federal capital was in Lagos have long since retired back to their home states, there are still many Igbos are still living in the past, stuck in the delusionment that Lagos is some kind of "second federal capital". But beyond all that, it is intriguing the way Igbos get jittery anytime reference is made to Lagos as a Yoruba state, so much so that they have resorted to inventing all manner of false narratives just to discredit Lagos a being a part of the larger Yoruba heritage. Of all the tribes in Nigeria why is it only Igbos that are think and react this way ? Is it that Igbos do not have the capacity to build their own Lagos? Is it that Igbo cannot survive without Lagos? Are Igbos that culturally insensitive or just plain ignorant not to know that Lagos has its own traditions institutions and a history that goes back several centuries - long before the colonial masters arrived on the continent or even toyed with the idea of Nigeria. Lagos is undisputably a Yoruba State the same way Kano is proudly an Arewa state, both cities have stood proudly for centuries, long before advent Nigeria. Yorubas as a people do not owe anybody any apologies for Lagos, they as a people have shared their common wealth with the rest of the nation, and like every thing in life, they have had some wins and some losses. My advice to those Igbos that cant seem to move forward, is to learn to respect, and live in peace with their hosts where ever they find themselves outside their home states. Inflammatory comments cannnot be good in the long run.
You are just going round and round. You didn't choose Lagos to be what it finally become, I'm not even sure if you were born then. It was concerted efforts by all Nigerians. No one is dragging with you if Lagos is Yoruba's. But it is worrisome when you starts acting as if its economic status, administrative and government history should be erased because Igbos are reminding u, that it wasn't built by ur effort alone. How dare Igbos tell u that to ur face is the anger. Don't worry we are not taking Lagos from u. Don't be too serious about it. grin. Has anyone spoken about any other state, no. Is Lagos the only state in Yoruba soil, no. Then why Lagos? Because it was once the capital of Nigeria for 3 decades. I'm sorry to see that u don't like it painted this way, but history can't be wished away just because we have a preconceived thoughts about a particular people. It is just like the native Americans telling all non-natives to disappear because USA has always belonged to them.

Take it easy my friend, let's live and let others live as well. None of us chose where to come when we were born, neither will any of us take anything, when it's time to go. Think of how to help your next neighbor.

PoliticsRe: Isa Jere Idris Disguises As Passport Applicant, Catches Corrupt Officials by EagleNest(m): 10:30pm On Oct 18, 2021
How come he is acting as if he has been living in abroad. Was he appointed from abroad? Did he not work all these while in Nigeria? He knows it is a rotten system, his immigration people knows, we Nigeria citizens also know. It is no longer secret in Ikoyi, it is done openly as part of organised syndicate. He should also pretend he doesn't know what is happening in many Nigeria embassies abroad, passports are not available. Nigeria government never takes its citizens serious.

Well on the positive side, you tried by going their disguised. U just confirmed what u know already. Now we want action. Let's stop the embarrassment, it is too shameful.

You only read the headline, try to read the whole news and you will understand what he's talking about.
Let me help you, he's talking about insecurity coupled with wide landmass.
Whether I read it upside down or down up, it doesn't remove the fact that quality of human beings in a landmass trumps the benefit of size of land. U see, it is the same commodity (oil) that was used to develope UAE and Norway for instance, is same comodity that we choose to embezzle the proceeds. And we become the poverty HQ of the world regardless of landmass, commodity or population (200 million). Pls compare and contrast it, and u will learn & know that quality of human beings matters alot. If dullard and incompetent person is the one leading, and professor deputising. What do we call it "inversion". Pls let's not begin to talk about our naivity and poor human development, it is an anomaly beyond understanding.

Calabar was also a colonial annex / capital for ~ 20 or more years. Why aren't we all 'rushing' there.

Many people make this 'claim' that Lagos 'greatness' was brought about by others (usually non-indigenes) the way they make the claim about the USA's greatness being attributable to foreigners. But they miss out on a vital point. That Lagos provides an environment to this people that they 'lacked' prior.

The question then becomes why can't the foreigners replicate this greatness in their places of Origins. Why?

In the last decade, some (few) SS & SE states earned more revenue per head than Lagos due to population. What has come out of such 'advantages'.
Nearly all major infrastructures were constructed by FGN - international airport, Apapa sea port, the only railway that currently runs to Lagos, the 3rd mainland bridge, the carter bridge, Stadium in Surulere, some of the high rise buildings especially in Ikoyi, many government parastatal like DPR, NAPIMS, etc, that is still Headquartered in Lagos, foreign embassies, etc, you can name it. U see why being a former capital of a republic for 30 years can't just be washed away overnight because it somehow favours u.

I'm sorry that this advantage also comes with the burden of large population, bc it is simply a matter of economics. People troop to old and new capitals of many countries, it is like that between Abidjan and Yamousoukro, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, Bonn and Berlin, Kyoto and Tokyo, Dar es Salam and Dodoma, etc. Now coming here to tell other Nigerians to go back to their state as if Lagos was built by strength of Lagos state govt alone, is purely u choosing to be naive.

einsteine:
It should be three Nigerians who are not Lagos natives are holding office in Lagos. Lagos was developed with federal funds. Why should a native of Osun or Kwara on account of being Yoruba be more entitled to political position in Lagos than other Nigerians? Can an Osun state native go to Ondo to contest for position? Yet they come to Lagos and claim it's for Yorubas only and when one or two non Yorubas get position, it's used as a symbol for the faux liberalism
Let's not forget that Lagos was a national capital for 30 years and prior to that was a colonial annexe. That's why lots of people are there, otherwise it would have been as quiet as Ondo state for instance.
