emmnprince: I see your point!
Government that is not serving the people as they should took it upon "themselves" to interfere in religious matter, clearly targeted the Church in this context.
When religious leaders meddle into government affairs and flaunt their flamboyant lifestyles so glaring before the Government's eyes, what do you expect!
In this case, Romans 13:1-7 comes to mind: Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. - Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. - For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; - for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. - Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. - For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. - Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
1 Peter 2:13-15 says: Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men—
. . .and Acts 4:19 and 5:29: But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge;
But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
If these laws are passed to law, and religious leaders refuses to obey it, then anarchy is bound to happen soonest because there would be conflict of interests between the two parties! Even the devil himself can quote the Bible. |

Nigerian Christians are part of the problem too: they keep turning the other cheek, while the muslims keep slapping until the Christians go deaf, injured, and then dies. Then the remaining Christians will wake up and argue amongst themselves as to the cause of death.

babaolofin: You are just dribbling yourself. Lagos to Accra is shorter than Lagos to Abuja. Our forefathers have been doing trades with tribes in Gold Coast, Porto novo, Lome, Abidjan and other west African cities along our axis for centuries. The problems you created for Nigeria is much.Spending 6 years in IBO land exposed me to the reasons why your areas are hostile to strangers. The Ghanaians, Togolese, Beninoise and South African people understand the tribal compositions of the major tribes in Nigeria and their characters. I have seen some IBO men in Abuja with International Passports with Yoruba names applying for UK Visa to hide their identities.
The Ghanaians know Nigeria and Nigerians very well. They don't want Accra and other cities to become Lagos. So tribalistically ignorant. |

dokie: The business drive and expansion tendencies of the igbos make it very difficult for others to tolerate us, in addition to what seems like arrogance, pride, as well as the involvement of some of us in crimes and other sharp practices.
An igbo man goes to a virgin area and rents a shop to do business. When he goes home for Christmas, he is returning with his junior brothers and other relatives who will serve him in the shop with the aim of having their own a few years down the line. In no time also, he will be joined in that location by some of his kinsmen who think he is doing well in the newly found area. 10 years down the line, they have a small community there and a thriving market. And the locals would be like "what where we doing when these guys came and took over this place"? This naturally breeds some form of envy.
I feel for my brothers. "Us" You're a fallacy trying to pretend to be Igbo. You know who you are. Igbos come develop a virgin land they bought or leased, compared to Fulani herdsmen raiding you at night. You chose! |
