patwilly: How do I get this book? Had a copy when I was in primary school but lost it. A very interesting read about going shehu sold into slavery at a very young age, first to Kano then across the sahara to Egypt? ultimately his mum says out to look for him or perish in the attempt. She got caught by slave raider and was sold to a slaver in Tripoli. Shehu completes his Koranic education with flying colours and convinces his kind master to journey back to Kano. as providence will have it, in the course of the journey the rest at the house of the Tripoli slaver. Shehu is reunited with his mother, buys her freedom and tge entire party continue their journey. On the way his I'll mother dies and in great anguish buries his mother. The caravan continue their journey across the sahara but are caught up in a very dangerous sandstorm which separates every member of the caravan party. Shehu after three days and nearly dying of thirst sees his camel and takes a drink. he meets kind travellers thereafter and continues his journey. This book is a very compelling read even though my memory of it is still a bit hazy as its been twenty long years I read it..in primary school, but I still remember how enamoured I was by the sheer weight of emotion the author was able to pass through the characters to the reader. its historical connotation cannot as well be disregarded in view of its perfect description of the trans-saharan slave trade. I think the original version was written in Hausa but was translated to English by another author. A fine book by Nigeria's first prime minister which offers insight as well into life in northern Nigeria as it were long before the days of colonialism. A very important aspect of northern Nigerian literature which unfortunately, no authors from that part of the country have taken it upon themselves to write about. I think there has been a dearth of real Nigerian authors from the north in the mould of chinua Achebe, cyprain ekwensi , woke Soyinka etc and this means there's virtually no compelling, easily available literature from that part of the country. This as well means its culture, heritage and tradition remains a mystery to so many persons like myself. You can get original copy from Zamani Bookshop in Kano or Karina states. I can mail you a copy if you aren't in northern Nigeria. |

Cekpo34: Do I need to remind you that he was the worst of them all? I just explained to you, he couldn't be a bigot and still hold the Internet of the whole northerners at heart, You can't show any single evidence where Sardauna favored a Fulani man over a Tiv. He treated them equally so long you are a northerner. |

Cekpo34: Your sense of history is poor. All our founding leaders were ethic bigots... The present rot is repercussive of their respective jingoistic tendencies You can't claim Sardauna was an ethnic bigot, because he carried every northerner along which made up more than 70% of the diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria. |

bloodmoneyspita: who debunked it several times it's on YouTube Kindly provide the link to the video. By the way this so called parrot newspaper never seemed to exist anywhere in Nigerian history except this purported Sardauna quote. No single evidence of rebuttal nor backlash from the more educated southerners who owned (and still own) the media towards whom the flagrant insults in the so called interview was directed. Lies! Where were you when Sardauna United Northern Nigeria irrespective of religion or ethnicity. Once there is a leader ready to treat his subjects equally, they'd eventually rally to become United. That was why the so called middlebelt was most annoyed when Sardauna was murdered. Sardauna also never made that your last quote, it had been debunked several times. Mynd44 |

The battery is wack! Overpriced something. for those of you asking it's around 27k and it has no Hotspot. Makes you wonder what are you gonna use the 4G for on that small screen? No Video call no whatsapp. even streaming video on that small screen wouldn't require 4G. Plus the battery is 1200mah, the original 3310 has 800mah that's not even double! It doesn't even last 24hrs video playback. |

Odingo1: Not true, before independence the north is not ready for fast independence that is why it appear as if the Igbos are number one champions, the problem of Nigeria started immediately after independence. Are you aware of Owolowo's attempt to include secession clause in the Constitution and resultant Zik's vehement opposition? |

gnykelly: if there was referendum then why didn't the ibo made attempts then. Because they were the number one champions of ONE Nigeria then. At that time it was the North that was truly reluctant for a United Nigeria followed by the west. They only agreed when regionalism was formulated. |
