Education › Re: As A School Owner, Will You Employ A Man With Dreadlock As A Teacher? by Echara: 8:47am On Jan 06, 2022 |
matrix199: Don't forget Jesus was a Nazareth(had dreads) and was not judged using his hair type. But then, our society has stereotyped dreadlocks as a sign or show of irresponsibility. We think low cut or bald portrays responsibility which is not necessarily true. 99% of criminals and terrorists paraded were not wearing dreadlocks but low cut. So, as a school owner, i'll give every applicant a fair treatment and later make them understand how the society sees things and how the way they see things may affect our business. A sensible dreadlock applicant would reason out my explanation. First, Jesus wasn't a Nazarite. He was a Nazarene, because he came from Nazareth. There's different between the two. Being Nazarite means taken a vow for a special duty or service. They were stipulated rules for Nazarites. You don't have to come from Nazareth to be a Nazarite. Some Nazarites became Nazarites from birth, example is John the Baptist. He was not a Nazarene, but he was a Nazarite even from birth. That means, God assigned him a special duty from birth. Sampson too was a Nazarite even though he didn't come from Nazareth. Now, the main topic. School is a business. You serve the public. You must consider public perception of what you do. Most people associate dreads with irresponsibility in our society. You can't question that. I've been attacked by armed rubbers on three different occasions, on each time, most of them wore dreads. But that doesn't define everyone that wears dreads. Parents wouldn't want their kids to be handled by someone they describe as "irresponsible" no matter how intelligent he is. If I own a school, I wouldn't want to lose customers, ie students, or my school to get negative reviews because of one person. No, I won't employ him if he insists on the dread. I'm yet to see a banker, a politician or policeman that wear dreads. |
Culture › Re: Kingmakers Announce Lekan Balogun As Olubadan-Elect by Echara: 8:12pm On Jan 05, 2022 |
ejimatic: . 1. Ibadan has been divided into communities with Mogajis in different families that make a community. There can be many mogajis at a time but. recognized according to their seniority. 2. If any of the heir dies next replaces him and others move up. 3 If an heir is guilty of a gross conduct he can be removed by Olubandan and Ibandan Council of Chiefs Thank you for taking your time to respond to my questions. In effect, you're saying that if this one now that's to be enthroned is found grossly wanting, he'll not be enthroned, right! Again, if the Mogajis from different communities are ranked by seniority, does it mean then that the Olubadan at any given time is the oldest man in Ibadan? Or is there any other measures used in determining the MOST SENIOR other than age, since family heads are always the oldest men from their respective families? Could it be that not all Mogajis qualify to become chief? |
Culture › Re: Kingmakers Announce Lekan Balogun As Olubadan-Elect by Echara: 7:47pm On Jan 05, 2022 |
ejimatic: . Mogaji is like a family head. There can be many mogajis from royal houses at a time. This is how it works:. 1. Olubadan 2. Secend to Olubadan 3 Third to Olubadan 4 4th to Olubadan. 5 Fifth to Olubadan. 6. Sixth to Olubadan. and it continues to Mogajis who are many and arranged according to seniority. So as Saliu Adetunji died next to him is Lekan Balogun. This mean no 2 becomes 1. 3 becomes 2. 4 becomes 3 till they get to the last Mogaji .This means it is the death that affects position of the heirs to the throne. Great insight! Thanks. What happens when the rightful person has obvious questionable character or a history of brazenness? Will he still enthroned, irrespective of that? Must the Mogajis come from the royal family or from any family of Ibadan origin? |
Culture › Re: Kingmakers Announce Lekan Balogun As Olubadan-Elect by Echara: 7:26pm On Jan 05, 2022 |
ejimatic: it is rotaional among the Ibadan High Chiefs who are Kingmakers. A person must start from Mogaji and move up gradually to become Olubadan. Thanks for your kind response. Now, since it's rotational, how long does each person serve before passing it to the next in line? What is mogaji? |

Tareq1105: You're right. In fact, the next Olubadan after Lekan Balogun is known (Sen Rashidi Ladoja). There's no controversy there. Is it tenure by tenure or life kingship? Is the throne by heritage or appointment? I want to know more about it. |

They, the Americans, have the foundation properly layed for them, we're trying to lay one. The most successful industry in Nigeria at the moment remains the music industry. They should be encouraged. American music has dominated the world long before YouTube. YouTube is only extension of what they've done offline already. The little wins Nigerians are making in the industry is something to be happy with. It's a positive sign of progress. No need comparing them with their great grandfather in the industry. |

I took a keg intending to fetch water from nearby houses/shops/filling stations.
Omo, the way they were looking at me like I was asking for some precious stone baffled me!
Like play, I couldn't get water anywhere, i had to drive it like that till I got to a supermarket and bought bottles of water to fill the radiator.
I got to appreciate my Niger Delta where water can never be a commodity hoarded by anyone...
And they come online to chest beat all the time . You should've asked why rather than being sarcastic. Asking questions is part of enlightenment. It helps you understand why things are the way they are. What's borehole that individuals can not drill? In Niger Delta you drill your borehole for just 100-150 feet you'll have abundance of water. In Enugu, even a thousand feet, you won't get water. It's not about money. It's simply impossible to drill a borehole in Enugu metropolis. Make your findings if you don't believe this. The water used in Enugu metropolis are from night mile. |
