You want to learn how to work here put up your cap and get help. Mods kick against this trick y'll keep playing. Go to telegram you will see alot of people looking for dependant to claim they are married whilst applying to join a student. Nigeria is a ScamHunt country and full of deceit . Resist from giving such advise to people here on POF, which is meant to be for study overseas. Remember Ducess90 is sounding it like drum here people won't hear. If you scale tru here and get to POE, there might be cases where student get detained in cell for 48hrs and ask for reconfirmation of SOA by contacting your bank which if found your POF is not sitting in that account you will be bundle back home with 10years ban..

CareerRe: Understanding The Japa Syndrome And What It Portends For Nigeria by EconFinance: 6:45pm On Jun 22, 2023
viodemus:
Some Nigerians are lying to themselves when they think they are going to foreign countries with expertise. It is really not true. Let us not be too delusional or mentally setting up shop in an aloof territory.

Going to other African countries can translate to necessary brain drain, it can be argued to have skills transfer in benefit for that country.

But going to a current advanced country like USA, Canada, Australia, , many parts of Europe, Japan, china, Malay, even dubai or Kuwait, it is chances that you will be going to absorb knowledge at first, for the first few years, and not really give it, especially in the technical fields, medical field, educational field (some of it are subjective -- going to teach local language is not really brain drain), and stuffs like that.

Skills like plumbing, electrical, mechanic, nursing, etc are not really that immediately transferable because you have to pass a test and/or multiple test that might take years to certify, depending on how far you want to grow. They are not letting a plumber go and burst a house just because he/she was one in their home country; things are different. Even a European does not have a seamless transition of skills in these kinds of fields.

The willingness to work is what is enticing Nigerians to them, and their willingness to pay is what is enticing them to Nigerians. Their people work the kinds of jobs they seek from Nigeria, but their people might not be more diligent than a Nigerian that don't want to loose the opportunity to grow financially and mentally. Even a Nigerian 1st generation descent, mostly don't have that level of work drive.

jobs like banking are not really transferable, but it's close, to terminology, with instincts.

An oil worker in Nigeria depends on experience, for it to be transferrable over there. Even though the terminology are similar. You still need intense training and yearly or every two year knowledge updated training.

Marketing, commerce, and trading jobs, might be transferrable, but it can be a remote long term or short term job, that is why stock people, small item marketers, govt bond investors, etc even yahoo, are mostly marketing, could be real or fake marketing.

Is more that could be said on this subject, but I think overall, many Nigerian jobs are not transferable, is just that the limited skilled people with potential are picked up, but most times, their Nigerian knowledge was mediocre to begin with, before japa. The striving spirit is what we mostly have. The education system is flawed on many level, we think of how we can eat more often, how to transport ourselves or properties, security, scamming, and then people interaction. Most countries are past that, but still have problems, because their younger ones, don't really want to work hard, so they use our eagerness to work and learn, to keep their workforce moving.
Very interesting take

There are other countries with worse volatile currency fluctuations

Would you expect UKVI to bend policies for currency fluctuations for every country??

There are options of paying more deposit to your Uni's and/or paying for accommodation to help buffer the difference.

A straight answer to your question No. If the criteria for study visa application are met, and documents are genuine then the applicant's visa will be issued, if not then it will be refused.

Nigerians didn’t ask the right questions then and we sure aren’t asking the right questions now…
Why do we have subsidy in the first place?
Because me import fuel right
So why do we import fuel?
Because our refineries aren’t working?
So why aren’t our refineries working?

If we fixed all our refineries would we still need to import fuel?

So why haven’t we channeled resources over the years to fix the refineries?

We stopped importation of rice because “we want to grow our economy and consume locally grown rice right?

So why did the price of locally grown rice shoot up?

These and many more are questions we should be asking the government. These are things we should demand answers to otherwise we’ll just keep hearing different nonsense every new day
But Nigerians don't ask pertinent question
It's all petty thinking

Yes, e get as e be. However, one needs the grace of God too, to work without papers in the UK. And I am not talking about registering at Agencies to get jobs or applying for jobs that will surely require paperwork from you. I am talking about working out of the system. This means you are doing your own thing and making money from it on a daily or weekly basis. You work for yourself and you find customers yourself. The internet is vast enough for you to advertise yourself and get customers. I know a Nigerian dude that goes not have papers in London. He lives well and he does not sell drugs.

This is what he does- He helps a white British guy to apply for plumbing, heating and house painting jobs on different job boards. He is a good writer. So he helps this dude apply for up to 70 jobs per day on different job boards. The white guy has a company that suppliers plumbers, painters, tilers, gas engineers etc to clients who post jobs on gumtree etc . So based on the number of jobs he can get for white British guy, my nigga gets paid daily between 150 to 200 pounds. I am not lying o. My dude is always on his desktop and laptops 18 hours a day cool cool applying to get technical jobs for oga ( oyinbo dude ). You get it? That is just one say to work without papers in the UK. Favour of God matters. Cheers .

Hmm. UK is not as bad as you have claimed. You will always find something to do if you are hardworking in the UK. I have been there, done that. You don't need anyone to feed you in the UK if you get on the job boards and find something to do. Papers or no papers, you can do something that will bring you money on a daily basis .And if you are clever, you can make lots of money doing odd jobs. UK is not cold for365 days. There are at least 100 warm days and nights in the Midlands of the UK. Maybe you are talking about Scotland which is colder than England. Abeg, free the OP. Cheers.

True sha. Those countries can be used as a stepping stone to better places. A broke poor person in Nigeria continuously struggling to migrate to Canada from Nigeria when he can go to a good school in Brazil like the university of Sao Paulo which is ranked amongst the world's top 100 universities for free work for like 2 or 3 years and then do Canada express entry from there or anywhere else. It's better than staying in Nigeria and wasting away. Those countries would be hard in the future to go to. Germany wasnt a study destination in like 2008 but right now people are struggling to go there. In the future, this easy places like Brazil, Mexico and co won't be accessible for Nigerians at all. Did you think it was difficult to migrate to a place like Canada In 2005. Things are getting worst in Nigeria and things get much worst, many countries will be hostile to Nigerian immigrants.
True that
But I must ask
Those days when I was a guest

You used to be vehemently pro Nigeria

If you're migrating out of Nigeria, Canada/USA is your first option, followed by the UK. Anybody who migrates anywhere else is because they don't have the ability to migrate to those 3 countries. Any other countries such as Brazil, Caribbean Islands are nothing more than 2nd options. They're better than naija, but stop comparing them to legitimate G7 nations like Canada or USA. There's level to this. There's no shame saying I have to settle for a secondary country. Comparing a S-hole country like Brazil with one of the world's highest murder rate to Canada? Go and sit down.
This made me chuckle a bit

This. They keep on shouting they will move to Canada. Canada is very difficult. Study visa is hard. Visit visa is hard. You also need an LMIA to get a job from outside Canada and cause of that most employers don't bother except your country has trade agreements with Canada which removes the LMIA like Peru, Colombia, South Korea or Mexico. Once UK cast completely leaving naija go hard die. Even other european countries aren't easy again

Fine what that guy did was moroniccc

But the energy and zeal Nigerians online are using to take up this case; if we used half of it to demand good governance here; things would change for the better.

The UK has the right to restrict and do whatever they want to do with their country; so the sense of entitlement of Nigerians to the UK pathway is just sickening

MOST NIGERIANS DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO BAN NIGERIANS GOING TO THOSE COUNTRIES AS SOON AS THEY LAND IN THOSE COUNTRIES....

THIS BASTARD TIAMIYU EMDEE IS AN ABSOLUTE REPRESENTATION OF THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN... I LIVE IN NIGERIA AN I HATE NIGERIANS SO MUCH AND IF I LEAVE THIS COUNTRY I WILL AVOID NIGERIANS AT ALL COST... SO I AM NOT SURPRISED.
.
.
ALL I AM SAYING IS THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE NIGERIANS BEING KILLED IN OTHER COUNTRIES YOU THINK ABOUT THE RUBBISH THIS FOOL HAS DONE AND IMAGINE THE SAME RUBBISH NIGERIANS ARE DIING IN OTHER PEOPLES COUNTRIES...
.
.
THIS SAME WAY IT GOES FOR OTHER NIGERIANS... AS SOON AS NIGERIANS SEE ONE PERSON DOING SOMETHING AND MAKING PROGRESS FROM IT EVERYONE WILL START JUMPING IN UNTILL IT BECOMES TOO SATURATED FOR ANYONE TO MAKE A PROFIT OUT OF IT. I HEAR LONDON IS NOW THE NEW OSHODI, PEOPLE GOING THERE WITH THEIR ENTIRE VILLAGE, SOME ARE EVEN DEMANDING MONEY FROM STRANGERS JUST TO ADD THEM AS THEIR DEPENDANTS...
.
.
THIS IS WHY I KEEP SAYING NIGERIA WILL NEVER MOVE FORWARD BECAAUSE THE PROBLEM WITH THE COUNTRY IS NOT JUST THE POLITICIANS THE PROBLEM IS THE MENTALITY OF NIGERIANS. THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SCREAMING FOR A BETTER GORVERNANCE 20 AND 30 YEARS AGO ARE THE PEOPLE IN POWER TODAY AND NIGERIA I STILL IN A MESS AND THE PEOPLE....

SO THIS COUNTRY IS FVCKED TOP TO BOTTOM.
