PoliticsRe: This Government Is Failing......... Truth Be Told by Eddygourdo(op): 9:53am On Feb 23, 2016
Abagworo:
Suggest solution better than what is being done. All oil based economies have crashed incuding Russia. The important thing right now is how to reduce the impact on the populace.
the solutions are there, everywhere. Which one is oil based economies, aren't there prospering economies that aren't oil based? A leader in this country is responsible for over 150million people. He is expected to be innovative, am not ur president and thus don't ask me for solutions, he must provide solutions and not excuses, if he isn't capable of that, he can step down. But on another note. This economic downturn is a catalyst for self sustainace, we must look at boosting local production, our money is useless as an import based economy, but very useful as an export based economy. We must create trade and investments targeted at export, we must face exportation in this period to benefit from a weak naira. This means more jobs, this means Nigerian products spanning agriculture, science, technology, processed products and human resources. Even a simple me has highlighted a solution, why not the government. # enough of the excuses
PoliticsThis Government Is Failing......... Truth Be Told by Eddygourdo(op): 8:54am On Feb 23, 2016
I now wake up every morning to update myself on top happenings in the news and all I see staring back at Me is a nation heading towards economic collapse, I voted for this government but hey, this situation has passed be careful. The so called corruption crusade has produced no tangible result and yet we still jubilate like simpletons whenever the efcc announces a new twist. Please if you all can't see it, I can. The Nigerian economy is DYING...... If not already dead.

Enough of the oil downturn excuse, oil has fallen to nothing for over a year now, aren't there nations who are surviving without a drop of oil being ever drilled? Are we so economical daft, that the leaders can't come up with something else to cushion this downfall? All I can see is a government waiting for the oil situation to be resolved so they can go back to business as usual. The silly budget passed didn't show any evidence of the government trying to rescue our economy by expansive diversification, should we borrow money for spending alone? No strong capital investment in new frontiers that could drive the economy in the event the oil situation never recovers.

I am angry, very angry because this situation is creeping into our markets, our barber shops, our road side market women and woe betide the devil should it creep into our football watching centres or betting shops. The price of goods and services is sky rocketing, this is the biggest problem our government should be having sleepless nights trying to solve, yet I am yet to read today of any economic saving moves the government is trying out. Maybe we should wait till the price of oil hits $1, then we might cannibalise each other. Please this nation is too rich to be poor.

# buhari please sit up

(1) finally I have been forced to learn the art of being unclad. I used to be shy, now I walk about very confident in my unclothedness, my neighbours should be tired of the view, I hope the heat stops lest I take my newly found hubby to the streets

(2) to all those lazy men who don't understand the art of twenty rounds with diverse styles of cow girl, doggy, cat woman, blah blah blah. this na una time, the heat has forced the strong but Hot hearted to result to our biblically decent and long maligned missionary style, where speed is not a factor, lasting power is not a factor, infact the sooner u get in and get out the better for you lest she pushes ur sweating ass away.

(3) well in so far we don't have the stubborn ones i described above, most people will stay away from sex, thus for the first time in history, we won't need our churches to preach against immorality and unwanted pregnancy. The heat has thrown us all to the bare floor, naked and irritated at any human contact that will bring sweat and add to our discomfort

(4) needless to say, it's clear from the above that all olosho should proceed on annual leave. Business down time has loaded.

(5) our lovely ladies who walkabout in panties and all manner of skimpies, well gone are the day you will need to fear embarrassment from that busy body old mama in ur Street, who looks at u with disdain simply cos you are making we men happy, please discard the pants if possible, the heat deserves all our unclothedness. Let it do it's worst
RomanceWhat's Peculiar In Your Own Relationship by Eddygourdo(op): 2:38pm On Feb 21, 2016
I never listen to relationship advice or attend love seminars, simply because the speaker doesn't even understand my relationship, how can you speak of a relationship you don't understand its peculiarity, just as every face contains, a head, a nose, two lips, two ears, two eyes and the occasional dimples like yours truly, we aren't ever alike, even twins aren't ever alike completely. So therefore Wat is wrong in one relationship is perfect for another, thus biko all advisers if you don't know my situation, keep shut.

A girl friend loved to be raped, another couldn't ever sleep without a foot rub, another used tears as a manipulative tool, etc but am more interested in sharing funny and good peculiarities. Will share one

When I and bae quarrel and the argument gets too heated up, once one of us says " pause" . We must abandon the quarrel mid way and settle immediately to hopefully continue when nerves have cooled down. Since then our quarrels have stopped being explosive ( learnt that trick from lily and marshal on "how I met ur mother series").
PoliticsNigeria...... The New Syria In The Making by Eddygourdo(op): 2:19pm On Feb 21, 2016
Take a historical look at Syria, about six years ago, look at the landscape, look at the people, amongst the beautiful scenery was inequality, corruption and nepotism. The general consensus was that such situations was hampering development and thus in line with the Arab spring which I must add has produced no lasting change or solution to all of its participants the civil war broke. The crisis took many angles, political angles, religious angles, humanitarian angles, racial angles, tribal angles etc and it gave room for the ISIS to build root. Today the country is a mess, the country has been blown into the dark ages, refugees abound and the conflict is far from its end. Every war must end, that's the foolishness in wars, dialogue must always prevail as a solution, the only thing is that in the Syrian case, the end of the violence and war will beget a period of regret, poverty and under development.

The Nigerian state is a wrong arrangement, the current political system is filled with loopholes that allows tribalistic and religious sentiments to grow, there is a wide gap between the rulers and the ruled and unfortunately the political system is very efficient in producing mediocres and nonentities. Yet should we become enemies of the state because we aren't yet getting things right? Should some people be absolved of the current malaise plaguing the country? Must we strive to be excellent critics rather than statesmen? The ease at which our people are quick to see violence, war and disintegration as the only solution to our malaise without recourse to the likely consequences speaks of a lack of intuition.

I believe this country should no longer be one because our differences far outways our similarities and hopefully dialogue should be quickly used to send us our different ways, I also believe this country could be one as our difference could be regarded as diversity and such harnessed to our advantage, we practice a better government that works better to our strengths and weakness as a diverse nation, than an ill fit and very expensive democracy, where every body is either an unreasonable critic or an unreasonable troll.

Violence must never be our solution, humans have evolved beyond violence as a first response to conflict resolution, I hope my people take cue (ipob, mend, opc, etc)
EducationRe: Why South East Is Doomed by Eddygourdo(m): 5:20pm On Feb 18, 2016
playdude:
I came across a media shocker few weeks ago, maybe it was a shocker to me because I had an on-the-spot assessment or because I truly knew what happened as to what the media reported. I need to say that our media has lost focus entirely; the days of investigative journalism are almost forgotten. Journalists take stories and report hook, line and sinker without cross-checking facts. Facts are sacred and they must be sought out since they do not appear on the surface, you dig them out.
The shocker was “South East Leads Again in WASSCE Exams” and most ridiculously Abia state was leading the chart. I gasped for seconds when I saw the news but quickly recovered myself.
Brief History
I was posted to Abia state and reported to duty on the hills of Umunna Bende around Ohafia LG, camp opened on August 5, 2014, after the usual rigor, we were posted out to our PPAs. I was posted to a secondary school in Umuahia north; Umuahia north housed the state house, assembly complex and the capital itself, Umuahia north was supposed to be the best part of Abia. I resumed teaching after the Ebola break from the Federal Government was over. I was supposed to take Economics. Quickly for fact checkers, Umuahia north has schools like Ibeku High school, Government Gollege Umuahia, Holy Rosary Secondary school, Williams Memorial Secondary school, among others. I taught Economics in One of these schools. When I resumed and the Dean of studies saw my grade and school, he said I was going to take SS2 and SS3 Economics. I asked if there was no Economics teacher in the school. He smiled and said there is but I would take the two classes. When I met the supposed Economics teacher and we talked for a while I understood why the man smiled. He was better off as Home economics teacher.
Fast forward to teaching my students Economics, I saw exceptionally dumb students with pride in SS3, I had to routinely take the ones in SS2 some maths topics before I introduced some concepts in Economics to them. The same students had the highest credits in WASSCE with Mathematics and English. These was the same time that T.A Orji (Most Useless Governor apart from Fayose) was owing teachers salary for months and arrears for years, I was shocked because I saw the teachers come to school a times once or twice a week since they were being owed salaries, so they had to do other jobs, so who taught these students to such outstanding performance in WASSCE? How can teachers not be adequately trained and taken care of, and their students come out in flying colours. I am beginning to think if this is what obtains in Abia and they still come out tops, then the same exists in other South Eastern states. I was around when the NECO and WAEC exams were taken, I was surprised. From Principal to Vice principal to school gatemen; they were partners in exam malpractice. I saw bogus arrangement of exam malpractice I hadn’t seen before in my life. The students begged me to come on the day they had Economics but I declined. I asked a serious student about what obtained on that day, it was super malpractice. I was in school on days they offered subjects like Maths, English and Physics and I tell you it was horrendous. Those guys are shameless. It was pathetic. I saw the VP (Academics) giving expo to his daughters that were writing the exams. If I decide to write down the length and breadth of exam malpractice I saw on that day. I would bore you.
Whenever I teach the SS3 students and I ask a question, they would reply in Igbo until I shut them up and tell them to speak in English, and these are the same guys that had credits in English language. I dey laff.
They would gladly tell you that they can’t wait to get done with school and go into business (with the exception of a few who were serious, say 30 percent). They love cutting grasses that staying in classes, they would gladly jump out to play football matches when they are supposed to be in class. They lacked content, no functional laboratories, the libraries are non existent, the teachers more concerned with their business outside and holding staff meetings where they talk about farm lands allotted to them and how another teacher was stealing their crop. At a point I stopped attending the meetings. I had an encounter with a Professor at ABSU (Abia State University), which is the best University in Abia, this man can’t stand me if we were to meet at a paper presentation. You are supposed to meet Professors and see a repository of knowledge, an avalanche of information, but it was the opposite. In fact check out the ranking of ABSU in Nigeria’s University index. You will laff. When I visited MOUAU, it wasn’t different. The students were not better than my SS3 students. If South west should be worried, then South east is doomed. Education reflects, it shows, it is tenable in what you do and how you do what you do. How can you claim to always have the highest number of credits in the country when those credits translate to producing fake Aba shoes or a disjointed opinion of reality. I remember speaking to a lecturer at ABSU about why Buhari has my support before the elections took place, he said Buffon Goodluck Jonathan was the best man. I asked why and told him to state one thing that he has enjoyed from GEJ, after he bowed his head he said well although he hasn’t gained anything from GEJ but Buhari has an Islamist Agenda and he is not suitable for the job. Look at that line of thought. Shallow, myopic and that was the norm there I tell you. Sentiments, not Superior arguments. Most of my Corp mates were handling subjects as Physics, Maths, Chem, Biology because they virtually had no qualified teacher in this subjects and yet they had credits. I dey laff.
Education is supposed to be a means to an end, how can you tell us you won a match when the referee was your team coach, stop deceiving yourselves with high credits that do not transmit to University achievement. Anybody can cross check these facts; I challenge the media, WAEC (Nigeria) and concerned bodies on vetting these claims. I just had to do these to straighten the records. If I hadn’t served in Abia, I would have believed these lies too. Abia state and South east should do some home checking, deceit would only injure their generation in the long run.
I typed this quite fast, so some errors might be inherent. Pls ignore.
Cheers. Playdude.

RomanceBeing A Good Man To Her...... . My Opinion by Eddygourdo(op): 12:05pm On Feb 18, 2016
(1) learn the art of extreme patience : women can't even tolerate themselves and which is why they have or expect their dream or "real" man to be very tolerating no matter what. Well women are many things, good, bad and sometimes down right ugly, but fact is that this life will have no meaning without them, our hustling will be in vain, there will be no mothers, wives, sisters and greatest of all mistresses grin

(2) don't be lazy nor have no dreams : enough of that cheap blackmail against women for loving money or wealth. Please who doesn't? Who wants to be poor. Good women could start up with a struggling man, but please don't take her patience as contentment to stop striving towards making money or success. Once you have found the woman of ur dreams, the only thing left to find as a man, is the money of your dreams.

(3) learn to cheat discreetly : yes I said it, cheating. Deny all you want, but to find a man who doesn't is like finding a needle in a hay sack. Those who don't haven't seen opportunity to, please be faithful to her but if at all you can't, have some decency and keep it away from ur family, only foolish men love outside their marriage, if u wanna play away, keep it strictly for its merit, protected sex and sex alone, leave love out of it. Once love comes into your affairs, wife becomes a nobody to you and ur dumbo mistress.

(4) her family is your family : that speaks for itself clearly, marriage is a communal affair, don't be overburdened though by her family, but try to pitch in once in awhile. Those peeps nurtured her all by themselves to the point you came and married her.

(5) your children must be a priority: starve yourself, borrow, be innovative, do everything you can to give your children the best you can offer. They are God's gift to you courtesy of your wife. She will appreciate efforts in their lives. Yes I know people rarely remember us during fathers day, but hey that's why we are men. We don't need cheap praise to show love and responsibilities. Love the fruit of ur loins to peices and be a father figure.

(6) please add your own. It's getting too lengthy for our well known lazy nairaland readers.

Once women enter a family, destruction and separation is inevitable, enemies will appear on the face of relatives and soonest, the once peaceful family is at war. Women, oh women. I am proudly homophobic. I detest homosexuality, I don't agree with persecution for them but I blatantly refuse to accept them nor their reasons. But something I noticed recently makes me feel like a hypocrite.

I sat in a bus awaiting passengers when two AGBERO boys came towards my bus and where talking, no sooner did one start caressing the nipples of the other while the other didn't rebuff him. I noticed their conversation got into whispers with slight caress here and there, all these weirdness was displaying in public in day time. I was irritated, I remembered when I got to my destination and lodged into a hotel, as I stepped out to eat, I overhead two men conversing in local dialect, arguing who could Bleep the other the longest, who will bleed more etc. I felt God had finally forsaken me. How could I be a hearer of such things that could cause nightmares on the same day. Then I remembered those 2go days, how u enter the men lounge in hope the discussing politics, football or money only to hear things that would make the people of sodom and gomoorah to cry injustice to God. It wasn't easy at all. But the wierd experience of today, has changed my view on homosexuals.

I lodged into a hotel yesterday in line with my business tomorrow. I returned from eating and as I walked to my room, I mistakenly looked into the nearby room and peeked from the door crack (poor carpentry). I saw two women on the bed doing the do. I wanted to look very well only to correct myself as the receptionist was coming, he saw me and laughed and beckoned on me to look through the next room, two able bodied men. I started wandering Wat sort of hotel I lodged into (na money wahala cause crayfish bend). I started asking myself questions, has this deviant behaviour become so common? Am I deluding myself that only a sick few do it? Are my sure many aren't even closeted. I logged onto 2go again and realised the men lounge is worse than I remembered. I still don't understand homosexuals but I won't be a party to their persecutions, Since am no longer sure my current friends, future friends or potential friends aren't part of the madness

FamilyRe: Inter-tribal Marriages,....... How Did It Turn Out For You by Eddygourdo(op): 6:01pm On Feb 15, 2016
BellaElla:
There is no big picture to see. And the people quoting statistics without proven facts to back them up are the ones getting emotional.
tonychristopher and co have come to state categorically that 90% of inter tribal marriages don't work out, and also say that in Igbo land, marring out of your tribe means you have been promiscuous and hence the Igbo men cant marry you.
I said earlier that I was in a relationship with a man from my tribe. the funny thing is that most of the time we conversed in English. it didn't workout, we were not compatible, despite the fact that we had cultural similarities.
As for language preservation, even if you marry from your village, and you are in another town, your child will learn the language spoken by his peers and environment, except if you speak vernacular at home always. I schooled with people that couldn't speak and write Igbo even though both of their parents were Igbo, because they grew up in Lagos. they spoke Yoruba fluently.
we should be careful how we spew imaginary facts, because someone that is engaged can come and read this thread tomorrow and conclude that his/ her marriage would fail because of tribal differences, based on what you people are saying here with all conviction.
I am more concerned about how my husband treats me than how his family will treat me, A lot of us have stopped going to our villages because of fear of witchcraft, some people don't even allow their family members know where they live. some of us have been duped and stolen from by our kinsmen, but we would now come here and say that a marriage with two compatible, understanding, well behaved adults has a less chance at success than a marriage between a two incompatible adults, just because of tribal differences. Shey its my husbands tribe that will provide for me, or it is his tribe that will make him a good father, or it is his tribe that will comfort me when in need. even in Igbo land, an Anambra man has problems marring an Abia girl, An ngwa woman has problems marring an ohafia man. no be the same tribe ni? Please you people should stop peddling unbacked rumours because as far as I am concerned tribe does not a marriage make!!!!
your experiences makes your assertions hold true, I get ur point that the so called segregation goes beyond tribe as evidenced in the ohafia /Ngwa example. Nevertheless am still tempted to feel ur marriage is just made in heaven and cannot be a yardstick for encouraging inter-tribal marriages, have you heard the burial customs of the akwa ibom and calabars. I had an igbo family friends house went through hell when she lost the husband, they not only accused her of murder, they subjected her to terrible things in the name of widow customary rights. Nobody could help her, not even her people. She slept naked in a forest for a weeks mourning her husband, they took all her belongings and sold them, they ordered her to relocate to the village with the children by force, my dear many, many terrible things. Who would argue it's not the true customs when her people were igbo and her husband akwa ibom. Though we have cases where Igbos have treated widows worse even when it wasn't inter-tribal, but that is low. I think external factors count too, I know of many deltans who after marriage never return with their out of tribe wives to the village even for one day, they don't want wahala, so they cut off entirely.
