Nwoba Chika Nwoba The information I am getting now is that Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Capital is going through attack by men suspected to be members of the IPOB. According to the report with picture evidence, the men in their numbers invaded the state capital, shooting and have so far burnt down the Central Police Station, Onu-Ebonyi in Abakaliki. (The police station court remanded me recently.) Report has it that upon all the firepower men of the Nigeria Army are challenging them with, they have continued to unleash mayhem on the state capital, their bodies repelling bullets. Recall that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr David Umahi through his Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization had four days shared cutlasses and axes to members of the Akubaraoha Youths and Neighbourhood Watch officers to occupy the streets of Abakaliki and ensure that there's no further attack on the state. This afternoon, they are nowhere to be found to confront the rampaging assailants. Information has it that the streets of Abakaliki are being deserted as the Ebonyi Int'l Market, Abakaliki has been vacated by traders. The state capital is on fire with the hoodlums engaging security personnel fire for fire. The picture below showcases the CPS being burnt down by the assailants. Lalasticlala

LudaChriz:Thank you! |
chikason68:I still maintain what I said earlier. He was just playing to the gallery. He doesn't have such power. He even threatened to sack any lecturer who fail to resume work. How do you threatened them when you have not paid their three months salaries. What's the guarantee that if they accept such arrangement, it will not continue even when things stabilizes. That was the same thing he did at College of Education, Ikwo. Till today, what they are receiving as salary compared to their colleagues in other institutions can be described as peanuts. Initially, he threatened to lock up the the university and go with the key. My brother, it won't work. He tried to meander his way using few persons who tagged themselves as "Divine Mandate Professors", but failed. EBSU have never had it this bad. Under Sam Egwu and Elechi's tenure as Governors, the monthly subvention to university was around 250million. Today, the monthly subvention is now between 100 and 150 million naira. To add to the injury, the current Vice Chancellor happens to be rubber stamp. In that address he made to the endsars protesters, he claimed to have released 500 million naira for their salaries. Even with the 80% proposed by him, the money cannot cover for the three months. I guess you don't know Dave Umahi very well. He can't be trusted. |
youngking22:Chai! Nawa for you. Where did you get your fact from? By the way, EBSU staff are yet to get their three months salaries. In case you are related to the Governor, please convey this information to him, cheers! |
Rahym001:Does it mean Universities are not included? |
SmilingScorpion:It's not a scam. The FG was meant to release this money towards the end of 2019 and early 2020 but due to strike/lock-down, it was kept aside temporary. |

Have you not been paid? |
Ibegtodiffer:Not when the government thinks the strike contributes in fueling the #endsars protest. |
BigBrother9ja:In life, if you want peace, you got to prepare for war. I'm not in support of this. But then how do you expect ASUU to consider them when the fight for revitalization and earned allowance were fought by ASUU alone. In case you don't know, those lecturers who enrolled into IPPIS, may not be considered when it comes to disbursement of earned allowance. It happened in UNIZIK and nothing happened. If you are not a member of ASUU, no earned allowance for you. The union will always tell you that the earned allowances were due to collective efforts. If you want yours go to Abuja. |
jmaine:Well, the ASUU that I know will make sure those promises are met before suspending the strike. |
Some people can go any length when you pushed to the wall. |
A video making rounds online showed moment Ivan Kituuka, the manager of Housing Finance bank (a Ugandan commercial bank) was shot dead in cold blood. Ivan was shot dead by the distraught husband of the lady he was allegedly sleeping with. Prior to him being murdered, the lady's husband identified as Mr Ssozi had allegedly written a letter to him, telling him to stay away from his wife (if you missed the story, read here). Ssozi clearly stated in the letter that he will shoot Ivan Kituuka in the head since he has refused to stop sleeping with his wife named Dorothy Nametubi Ssozi. According to him no going back on his decision to shoot Ivan with at least two bullets. Ssozi has since fulfilled his threat as a video of the bank manager being shot dead by a group of men has gone viral. He also released a video of Ivan allegedly sleeping with his wife. Watch the video below. OFFICE ROMANCE! You want to know how he gets his money? Ok! -No promotion for workers for the past five years. -Loans from African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank etc -Use of Caretaker Committee Chairman both in his early terms as a Governor. -Non-implementation of minimum wage of 18000 except for the last one of N30000. -Non-payment of gratuities to retirees. The bailout funds which was approved by the President Buhari specifically for workers' welfare were not properly utilized. Retired workers were paid 20% of their gratuity from that fund. This is after going through excruciating pain of documentation upon documentation. -Introduction of a cut-throat tax for Ebonyians. - Most of the construction works are implemented using direct labour. Unfortunately, it is alleged that his company happens to be the major beneficiary. Could you believe: Up till this moment, university workers are yet to receive their three months salaries not minding the fact that the state has been receiving allocation from the FG. What is the essence of building (substandard) flyover bridges when we've dilapidated school buildings that needs upgrade. You see some of the projects currently being implemented by him are unnecessary. -What the essence of ecumenical centre when we have an existing International Conference Center. -What's the essence of having new stadium when you have one already. Commendation: -I must commend him for the road constructions currently going on the state. You need to visit other states in the South East to appreciate him. - He has done well in promoting agriculture especially rice farming in Ebonyi State. Under his administration, sale of foreign rice in state is considered a TABOO. If you are caught, OYO will become your middle name. - Ebonyi State was already in the map. However, most of the news were usually negative. His administration contributed immensely in burnishing the image of state

He may have jokingly said this to his clique of friends but that doesn't augur well withme. It says a lot about our young ones and the kind society and environment surrounding them. |

Yet Ebonyi state government is owing university workers three months salary. Sometimes, I don't know whether to blame the Buhari led government for present economic challenges or the state Governors who are hiding under guise of covid-19 to deny their workers their entitlement. |
SweetHearted:Is your neighbour an IPPIS staff? |
