I will further recommend 50 years imprisonments for each of the defendants bordering on extortion plot to traffic a minor for the purposes of harvesting his organ.

Mr. Udom Emmanuel supporters are in Nairaland forum, every day, talking about the good jobs the governor has done in Akwa Ibom state. The picture of community secondary school, in Ikot Essien , does not show that governor Udom Emmanuel Is a good governor. And in fact, it shows the opposite. The conditions of the schools in akwa ibom state are deplorable . This is the state governor who just ran to become the president of Nigeria.

Community secondary school in Ikot Essience is just one example. I mean, I have the opportunity to see 90 schools in Akwa Ibom state with deplorable conditiond just like Community secondary school in Ikot Essience. Some of the schools, I have the privilege to see myself have rain leaked through the roof into the classrooms. Some schools have no roads leading to the schools. Teachers are not paid for months or years. Akwa Ibom state leads the nation in total revenues allocation to the states, yet, citizens live poorer than those that do not have similar opportunies as those in Akwa Ibom state.

Atiku Abubakar has to thank God he did not pick governor Wike as his running mate.

Ukrainian forces have been ordered to withdraw from Severodonetsk, according to the top regional official.

The eastern city has endured weeks of bombardment, as Russian forces try to take complete control of the region.

A Ukrainian retreat would be significant because it would leave all of Luhansk under Russian control, except for the city of Lysychansk.

Luhansk, a mainly Russian-speaking region in east Ukraine, is a key priority for President Vladimir Putin.

Together with the Donetsk region it makes up what is collectively known as the Donbas - a large, industrial area which has been the focus of a Russian-backed separatist movement since 2014.

On Thursday, Russian forces took control of more territory to the south of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, raising fears that Ukrainian forces could soon be encircled there.

But Mr Haidai said it would be "very difficult" for the Russians to seize Lysychansk straightaway because the city, which is on a hill, had "many defensive positions".

He said civilians were still being evacuated from Lysychansk, and aid was still being delivered to the city, despite roads and bridges leading into the city being destroyed.

In a separate development on Friday, a Russian-appointed official in the occupied southern city of Kherson was killed in a car blast, Russian news agencies reported.

I call for division of Nigeria into many countries--a division that will exclude Ibos from Nigeria. Why Atiku Abubakar Deserves to be the Next President of Nigeria--Commentary and Analysis

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa selection by Mr. Atiku Abubakar as his running mate in 2023 presidential campaign provides Mr. Atiku Abubakar with the strongest chance not only to get elected president of Nigeria, but also to allow Nigeria to reclaim its role as the best developed Black country in the world.

At a time where over 1million Nigerians have lost their lives because of terrorist activities by Boko Haram and IPOD in the last 7 years of Buhari administration, an estimated 10 million Nigeria haven been driven out of their homes, according UN reports, 100 Nigerians are getting kidnapped every day, daily murder rates have skyrocketed, Boko Haram—an Islamic terror group based in Northern Nigeria has recaptured territory once lost and Biafran insurgence re-emerged, the leadership of Nigeria must change from APC to PDP leadership to end this menace.

And I cannot see anyone more deserving to replace President Buhari than former vice president of Nigeria, Mr. Atiku Abubakar. He is a dedicated civil servant and a visionary. Having been the vice president of Nigeria for 8, that experience will be assets to Nigeria.

In a speech titled “Why I picked Okowa as my running mate” Mr. Atiku Abubakar highlighted four reasons why he picked Dr. Okowa as his running mate. And these reasons are (a) Running mate has the potential to take over from him in a moment notice, (b) Dr. Okowa appreciates the critical important of education in developing societies, (3) Dr. Okowa understands that without security, development will be difficult because local and foreign investors will be scared to invest, and (4) Dr. Okowa is not afraid to speak his mind, offer advice, and work hard to reverse the destructive nature of economy left by government of President Buhari. Good to work.

That is the argument I have long been making. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is a good picked for all the reasons Mr. Atiku Abubakar has listed. He is also a good pick because it shows Mr. Atiku Abubakar can make good decision, not just for himself, but for Nigeria and Nigerians in general. Furthermore, Dr. Okowa pick will definitely broaden the overall support for PDP in all geopolitical zones in Nigeria. He is a Christian. He comes from oil producing states in South/South geopolitical zone. Many experts and opinion makers have traced his ethnic group to both Ibos and the Yorubas. Millions of Muslims live and work in Delta state as well. And most importantly, no report of ethnic or religious clashes in Delta state under the leadership of governor Ifeanyi Okowa. So, no matter what some people may say or think, picking Dr. Okowa by Atiku Abubakar as his running mate is a win—win for PDP and Mr. Abubakar himself.

VP Selection and Timing
Unlike Bola Tinubu, the APC flagbearer for 2023 presidential election, candidate Atiku Abubakar quick pick of his running mate was decisive. A quick decision maker is what Nigeria needs to deal with emerging crimes like Boko Haram and IPOD terror groups, rising kidnapping of Nigerians, insecurity, corruptions, murders of innocent Nigerians. Nigeria new leader should not be someone who postponed decision until his favorable time. That is what APC flagbearer, Mr. Bola Tinubu of APC is doing. Because time matters. Wasting time can result in many losses of lives if Nigeria leader is not decisive in decision making.



Advice to Mr. Atiku Abubakar and his Campaign
Mr. Atiku Abubakar impressive victory in just the concluded PDP primary election means he should be rewarded. That is why I am writing to outline strategies for the election and offer some insights into how 2023 election will be fought and won. And for that, let begin:

Quick Response Office
Two offices should be created within Atiku Abubakar campaign headquarters. The first group should be called quick response office. Quick response office should be staffed with communication experts’ team to handle all kind of lies by Bola Tinubu -which might be thrown out to harm Atiku campaign. Communication experts’ personnel are people who are expert in different communication method—use of signs language to send messages, oral communication personnel—people consist of good speech writers to handle misinformation by opposition parties. Sometimes, candidate misspoke and that can cause a lot of problems to the campaign—especially when a candidate for the election has to apologize for inaccurate information. Experienced matters. So, staff your communication office with experience writers to response quickly to lies and false statement—capable to do harm to the campaign.

Policy Office
The second group should be staffed with policy experts to outline what Atiku Abubakar will do to Nigeria and Nigerians if he is lucky to get elected. Facts matter. They should focus on facts. Tell Nigerians what Atiku Abubakar will do to end insecurity, help economy to create jobs for Nigerians, end rising kidnapping--going on in Nigeria, to turn Nigeria into exporting country instead of consumer nations. What is Atiku Abubakar policy on education, agriculture, housing, transportation, health, power and much more? These should be the focus of policy office. Tell Nigerians the truth.

Lastly, drawing stark contrast between two or more political parties win election. What Atiku Abubakar will do if he gets elected and Bola Tinubu will not do, must be the focus point of the campaign, and demonstrated during the campaign in speeches across Nigeria.

I think Mr. Atiku Abubakar is fortunate because Bola Tinubu has a record as a former Lagos State governor. I would draw on those records. I would use Bola Tinubu failed leadership in Lagos state to destroy his campaign. Be specific. And no lie. Make sure people see it in real time. Show why Atiku Abubakar election will be opposite that of Bola Tinubu. Show in speeches across Nigeria why Atiku Abubakar is more acceptable, and Bola Tinubu is not. That is how to win an election.

Deepening act of violence calls for return of Nigeria to military rule. Civillian governments in Nigerian has continuously shown, they have no handle in the situation. And according to many reports in social media platforms and newspapers, not a single day passed by without 50-100 nigerians having been kidnapped. This has to end. No Nigerians were kidnapped during 40 years of military rule. Promises after promises by every Nigerian government have not produced solution to kidnapping and murders of innocent citizen.
That leaves me with no other choice but to call for a return to military rule in Nigeria.

And Dr. Okowa should start to talk about what kind of issues Atikiu Abubakar presidency will prioritize if elected and why. So, Dr. Okowa, my advice to you is, you should start to talk policy, instead of ethnic issues. That is how to win the hearts and minds of the electorate.

Tinubu still searching for running mate, will substitute Masari – Campaign spokesman

The presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu, has officially returned his completed nomination forms to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Tinubu had defeated former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and 12 others to clinch the APC sole presidential ticket at the party’s national convention.

However, the national leader of the APC on Wednesday signed and personally returned the forms two days ahead of schedule as stipulated by the electoral law and INEC guidelines and timetable.

The development was confirmed by Tinubu’s media spokesman, Tunde Rahman, on Friday.

The statement read, “We wish to reiterate that HE Asíwájú Tinubu now stands ready to contest the February 25, 2023 presidential election to deliver progressive good governance to our people,” he said.

Asked to comment on who was chosen as the running mate of the former Lagos State governor, Rahman disclosed that he cannot speak on it.

He, however, gave an assurance that the name will be officially ‘announced later.’

“Asiwaju completed the forms and signed. He had to return himself. His running mate will be announced later,” he said.

Efforts made to reach the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, to confirm if a surrogate’s name has been filed for Tinubu’s running mate proved abortive.

When contacted, Director of Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Bayo Onanuga also told our correspondent that Masari was the name submitted to the INEC.

“Yes, he is Ibrahim Masari. He once worked as a member of the National Working Committee when Adams Oshimhole was in charge of the APC excos.

“He is not really a surrogate per se. He is just holding forth. The electoral act stipulates that candidates have the window period to substitute up till sometime in August.

“Asiwaju will use that time to continue consulting with the party, governors and the president. He is taking his time and doesn’t want to rush it,” he said.

When asked why it is taking too long to get a competent and sellable candidate for the post of the vice president, Onanuga said that the PC flagbearer believes in due process.


“He just wants to carry everybody along. Even the elections will take place in 2023 and the campaign wouldn’t start until September. The window period is still long. There is no need to rush anything about it.

“I think we have fulfilled our own part by submitting the name as required before the window of INEC deadline closes,” he said.

The Ebonyi State Government paid N400 million of its COVID-19 funds to public officials for personal estate development in breach of its law and international guidelines, a PREMIUM TIMES review of an audit report shows.

The money was among those appropriated by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly in August 2020 for the state’s COVID-19 expenditure in the 2020 Revised Budget.

According to records obtained from the ‘Ebonyi State Government Audited COVID-19 Monthly Budget Execution Report’, the funds were, however, paid to the officials of the executive, judiciary, and legislative arms of government.

The misuse of funds in Ebonyi reinforces fears in the anti-corruption and development circle about limited accountability in the use of COVID-19 response funds by governments.

Transaction details
Details of the financial transaction show that the money was paid to public officials either to start the development of their lands or to build houses.

About 50 per cent or N200 million of the funds, were paid as COVID-19 ‘soft loans’ to public office holders in the executive arm of government to ‘start development of their lands.’

Members of the legislative arm of government were given N100 million as COVID-19 ‘soft loan’ to start the development of their houses.

Public office holders of the judiciary arm of government also received their share, N100 million, to ‘start developing their houses,’ according to the audit report.

Records of financial transactions of the Ebonyi State Government for August 2020 show that all payments were approved 100 per cent.

Ebonyi is governed by David Umahi who recently lost his presidential bid at the primary of Nigeria’s ruling party, APC.

Despite the audit report, Mr Umahi’s government says it did no wrong with the transactions.

The Ebonyi State Accountant-General, Carlton Nwankwo, under whose office the payments were authorised, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that a large part of the budgeted receipts is the “state government funds that were set aside for Covid-19 management and Covid-19 recovery.”

He, however, said the housing loan to public office holders was not released from contributions or COVID-19 grants. Rather, the funds were from the coffers of the Ebonyi State Government, he said.
