Business › Lagos Terminates NURTW BRT Franchise In Ikorodu Corridor by eherbal(op): 5:45pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
Kazeem Ugbodaga The Lagos State Government on Thursday terminated the franchise issued to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to operate a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along the Mile 12 to CMS corridor of the state. Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Dayo Mobereola who said this in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, added that government’s decision to terminate the existing franchise agreement was based on non-compliance by the first BRT cooperative run by the NURTW with operational plans stipulated in the franchise agreement they signed. “The termination of the franchise agreement with the operator is sequel to breaches of the BRT operations Service Level Agreement (SLA) it signed with the state government despite years of discussions and engagement to ensure the SLA was adhered to. “Though the Service Level Agreement requires a one-month notice prior to its termination, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, (LAMATA), custodian of the agreement, had indeed given a three-month notice which the operator failed to honour,” he said. Mobereola added that government’s decision communicated to the operator was premised on the inability of the operator to offer good public transport services to commuters on the all-important BRT corridor. According to him, “this has led to incessant complaints by members of the public over poor services provided by the operator and the deployment of vehicles not safe for use by the commuting public.” The commissioner stated that the state government frowned at the non-operations of stipulated frequency schedules and operations of buses at below 50 per cent fleet capacity contrary to the agreement. He said the failure of the first BRT Cooperative to comply with the terms of the franchise agreement had led to passengers experiencing poor service quality typified by extensive waiting time and having to endure use of dilapidated and unsafe buses. Mobereola said these breaches, which the operator had indulged in and failed to remedy despite being notified about them, had made the state government to decide to order the operator out of the corridor in the interest of the commuting public. The commissioner said following government’s desire to sanitise bus operations along the Mile 12 to CMS corridor, it had on 29 September, 2015 served it with a notice of termination of the franchise agreement, saying the operator had pleaded for time to be able to identify other corridor before removing all its buses from the depot. www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2016/01/07/lagos-terminates-nurtw-brt-franchise-in-ikorodu-corridor/ |

Christianity Etc › Re: Bristow Crash Survivors Testify That T.B Joshua’s Morning Water Saved Them by eherbal(m): 1:23pm On Oct 28, 2015 |
harbdulrasaq88: The recent tragic incident that saw a Bristow Sikosky S76 C+ helicopter crash into the lagoon in Oworonshoki, Lagos on Wednesday 12th August, 2015, have left quite a lot of people devastated and others, testifying.
Two offshore oil rig Sedco workers, Chukwudi Onah and Ebiejuara Dolu, following their survival in the tragic incident, on Sunday, 25th October, appeared in the church of controversial Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua to testify twas ‘God’s hand’ that saved them from the unfortunate incident.
The duo, who both sustained injuries but have since recovered, were accompanied by more than seventeen family members who came to share their testimonies, thanking God for preserving their lives in the disaster that led to six death, including that of the pilot and co-pilot.
Onah, testifying before the congregation of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations’, SCOAN, said it was ‘Morning Water’ he had received at the church that was instrumental to his survival.
According to the survivor, “I never leave it anywhere I am going. It’s always with me, along with my Anointing Sticker,” he explained.
“On that fateful day, before I left my room, I prayed that God would take charge, I thanked Him for mercies, and then I sprinkled the ‘Morning Water’ upon myself.
“While on board, there were no signs of trouble as the flight was going “very smoothly”. However, merely minutes away from arriving at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, tragedy struck.
According to Onah, the chopper suddenly turned while still suspended on air. “Everybody became confused,” he said. “We were shouting Jesus! The chopper was dangling up and down. I didn’t even know when it fell inside the water.
“As the helicopter began descending steadily to the bottom of the lagoon, I was strapped heavily into my seat-belt and could not move.”
Recounting further his ordeal, he said, “I shouted, ‘God of TB Joshua, save me.”
He added that his lungs were soon filled up with water.
Onah also said what transpired next can only be termed ‘supernatural’. Staring death in the face, confused and struggling to free himself, he said he heard a ‘voice’ speaking clearly to him.
“It’s just as you are hearing me now. The voice said, ‘Your seat-belt.’ I took my hand to the side of the seat belt and it became suddenly loose. The same voice came again and said, ‘Your life-jacket’. I took my hand to the side of the life-jacket and it suddenly inflated. It now carried me up from down to the top of the sea.”
Onah solemnly narrated that the two passengers seated directly besides him were among those that died.
Similarly, Dolu stated that he was a regular visitor to the SCOAN and had administered ‘Morning Water’ before entering the helicopter that day.
Recounting his experience, he said, “All that I saw was the helicopter take a sharp turn and then we were just plummeting down.
“Moments before the crash, all I could remember was that I saw myself swimming. There is no way I could have come out of the helicopter without removing my seat belt but I was not the one.

A EgunMogaji: Do you want car that you'll love driving and is you or a car that is responsible and boring (your words)?
Get the Lancer and enjoy it's up and down. If you truly love the car then find a good specimen, follow the recommendations in the owners manual for one used in rough terrain and you should be fine.
The Corolla is proven, lots of parts I've heard but you won't enjoy it in my opinion.
No vehicles made by Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Mazda since the past 15 years and offered in the USA market is a bad vehicle. They may have recalls here and there, etc but they are generally safe and dependable vehicles.
Good luck on your choice, just don't buy a GWagen with a body kit Hehehehehehehehehe. Ugly as they come

Crime › Man Jailed For Life For Dealing In Marijuana by eherbal(op): 5:30pm On Oct 20, 2015 |
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, western Nigeria, Tuesday, sentenced a 39-year-old man, Sule Ibrahim, to life imprisonment for unlawfully dealing in 11.8 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, also known as marijuana. In a charge filed before the court by NDLEA prosecuting counsel, Jeremiah I. Aernan, it was stated that Sule Ibrahim, 37 years (in 2012 when he was arrested) on or about 9 November, 2012 at Mapo Alayo Village, Okun Ajah without lawful authority dealt in 11.8 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, heroin and LSD and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The convict was first arraigned before the court on 1 March, 2013 and pleaded not guilty, while on 30 April, 2014 he changed his plea and pleaded guilty. On 7 July this year, Mr Aernan while reviewing the fact of the case tendered the following documents: The confessional statement of the convict, forensic report showing that the substance f ound on the convict was cannabis sativa, and the bulk of the cannaabis sativa weighing 11.8 kilogrammes. Before he was convicted on Tuesday, his counsel Mrs Oreofe Ogunleye urged the court to temper justice with mercy as the convict was a first offender. In her judgement, the presiding Judge Ofili Ajumogobia, sentenced the convict to life imprisonment Personally, I Think The Judgement Was More Of A Personal One Than A Judicious One.
