It's a simple, polite and harmless question, but with all the tension in many marriages and the pretence to make everything look so peaceful and wonderful to outsiders, such a reaction as that of your colleague cannot be ruled out. "How was your night?" is even milder than "Did you sleep well?" There's nothing wrong with being polite but when dealing with an emotionally stressed person or living in a society where false pretence is the order of the day, always expect the unexpected. |
Poster, what do you feel for these ladies? If it's sex-ual, no advice will work for you here cos you are on a mission. If it's 'love', slow down. You can't truly love a babe and propose to her friend. Bottomline: Don't rush into a relationship because "you are not the losing type". You'll only end up misjudging your feelings for ladies. |
I don't see anything wrong with the proposal, and truly appreciate the poster's honesty. However, I suggest you involve an attorney cos you sound like a successful person who isn't ready to be a husband. As noble as your proposal is, have it at the back of your mind that a scheming lady can turn it to a horror movie for you. So, get your lawyers involved. Secondly, do your background check carefully. A lady who barely gets 10k a month, and suddenly earns a monthly income of between 50k and 100k for a limited period may not be willing to let go of the source of income. I suggest you include a business plan in the proposal. Give the lady an option of 100% cash or a mixture of cash and business establishment, budgeted within the total earnings for the period of the contract. I am happily married but I always say this to my friends who are still single: "It may sound selfish on my part, but it's better to be happily single than be unhappily married". Best of luck in your search. |
ARES: Yep just like our dear nairaland. Instead of growing up, it is retarding at an alarming rate. And this is sooooo on point! |
Crap! |
*Reads story. Yawns. Goes back to bed* |
Forgiveness is noble. Forgetfulness means I have refused to learn from what happened - and my parents didn't bring me up to be that foolish! ![]() |

There's really nothing to say about this post. It only proves how inconsistent many so-called Christians are. In the 90s, TVs were evil. Today, tele-evangelism gulps more money than most telecomms' adverts. According to a 90s book titled 'Deliverance from the Power of Darkness', the best things in life (cars, ladies, electronic gadgets) will be manufactured by the devil in the depth of the ocean. Today, those best things of life are used by the pastors. Now,American visa lottery is evil but our pastors have procured American visa for every member of their family. In the words of my friend: "India exports cars, Nigeria exports religion. That explains why we are still where we are" |
Bawss1: For someone who just moved into a new town his/her first order of business should be to get his/her own place ASAP. Seriously the time it takes to quickly get one's own place should be long enough. This is how it should be even if one is on very good terms with the host, anything more just gives room for resentment and contempt to creep in and soil the relationship.Well said. Personally, I have no issue with accommodating people, as long they do the things listed above. I am not asking anybody to make any financial contribution but show some concern when our gist gets to that point. I am not asking you to pay the electricity bill, but don't wait till the PHCN guys come with their ladder before remembering that you saw the current bill somewhere and nonchalantly forgot it in your pocket! Most importantly, my maid is a human being and must be treated as one. The day I hear any statement that sounds like "Shebi she's not doing it for free" is the day my 7-day countdown starts! Naturally, I do not expect my guest(s) to disrespect my wife and kids. |
omenziate: Bonjour Monsieur Eikeem. Comment Ca va?Hmmmm...... I want to assume that you are asking me if I eat cassava; no be so? ![]() |
In the words of my friend: "When police stations have security gates and PHCN offices have generators, then Nigeria is on a long thing!!!!!" |
I can't think of any right now. My wife draws a very thick line between affection and insanity. ![]() |
Nice one, but is he really planning to build 305 of such? I find that very impossible to believe. By the way, what's the cost implication of this one? Is there any form of insurance in place? Is there any long term maintenance plan for the building, and the yet-to-be-built 304 schools? Is he converting the existing school structures to flagship schools or building brand new schools? If he's building brand new schools, what happens to the existing structures? Still, it's a good development. |
ochallo: I don't believe this couple are going to have sex , the whole night would be sent praying and thanking GOd.Biko, how did you come about your belief? |
Tobi has since completed her NSYC year and left the station, while Dotun has now returned to his job. ‘It happened some months back. I have made up with her and we’ve both moved on‘, Dotun who participated in the October edition of ‘Walk against Violence’ explains. OP! OP!! OP!!! How many times did I call you ![]() ![]() Your gist is misleading and very stale. And I ask again: is Seun using 'auto select' to choose the topics that make the frontpage? |
*Reads post, mutters "I'm still dreaming" and goes back to bed* *Checks NL again, reads the story again, logs out* *Logs in, sees the story on front page* *picks up phone and dials a number* "Bonjour Monsieur Ajimobi..............." ![]() |
Another jamboree! A bunch of clowns invites a certified controller of a 'political conglomerate', and expects us to start dancing. Awon oniranu! |
Journalism has really become very trashy in Nigeria. I do not know Joseph Benjamin in person but I'm very sure that no responsible man will make such a statement about the mother of his children - and Joseph looks responsible enough. Our bloggers and journalists are so crazy about negative publicity. I guess that where the rave reviews and brown envelopes come from. |
Nigerian awards! Hmmmmmmm......... |
I can imagine how hard things must be for you, but the reason you are still alive is because you believe you can survive the challenges. As regards the traditional wedding, talk to your fiancee about it. Both of you should be realistic enough and leave sentiments aside. Getting married when you are about to become homeless certainly sounds illogical. Prioritise the issues and deal with them in order of importance. As regards the loan, I'm sure if you are able to convince your lenders, you can get an extension. I have a friend who was once in a more terrible and hopeless situation , but he pulled through- and I believe you can do it too. Best of luck. |
The church is a place of worship; the creche service is paid for and standards are meant to be met. If the desired standard is missing, ask yourself if your child deserves what he/he is getting from the creche, and make up your mind. God forbid, but if anything happens to that child, your church won't give you a replacement. |
Not surprised at all. Mikel Obi would have made the cut but his dedication to national assignments must have adversely affected him. |
Agbabiaka ooooooo!!!!!!!!!! |
Ringtone: Bunie ya enu (PSquare). The tempo of the song is sufficient for me. Wifey: Anything (3T) Dad: Dance with my father (Luther Vandross) |
Forever. I didn't marry my wife solely cos of children. If I wanted only children, I would have chosen to be a father without being a husband. Adoption is not a taboo. Although we already have kids, we are still contemplating adoption. |
This is not good for Naeto C at all. I'm sure that it's not the fact that he failed to perform that's the major issue, but his alleged insensitivity towards his failure to honour a signed contract - and this is what every potential individual/corporate client will first consider. |
I always ensure that I don't put myself in a position that would make anybody insult me. People management skill really works for me. |
Every nice person has a wild side. It's only a matter of unlocking it. A nice guy doesn't necessarily mean a boring guy. I know pastors who have proved to be 'badder' than the so-called bad boys when they are alone with their wives. ![]() |
Brand_new: The dude knows how to do it big. That's one thing i like about him....He's way more flamboyant when compared to Wiz Kid.Wizkid's dad is not Aliko Dangote's friend na. Omo olomo! You want make he run down, abi? ![]() |
Biko,how did this make the front page ooooo ![]() ![]() ![]() ? |
RDM must have seen this coming. It's only a matter of time before football clubs become the toys of the billionaires;and when they are tired, they'll move on to the 'next big thing' - but not before killing many people's career and spirit. |
