How does she go about being certified medically fit though?

Onaya:

What's the outcome of her TB test? Is it negative or positive? If it's the former, then she's got nothing to be worried about. But if the latter is the case, then she'd be expected to be certified medically fit for her application to be processed, as its processing would be halted until she's been fully treated. This is basically because TB is contagious, and untreated person would pose a serious health risk to Canadian citizens.

However, one can't be refused visa based on the fact that one is positive unless one doesn't go for treatment. That's my two cents.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Eilenora: 4:30am On Nov 23, 2021
please can you shed more light on the suspicion of TB. My sis has the same problem and also had to wait for 2 months for her result to come out, then was asked to go do another test last week. What should she expect next?
Onaya:

Thanks for your words of encouragement. What actually prompted the request for additional medical examinations was their suspicion that I might have a TB, following the result of my first chest x-ray. But I thank God it was negative. The review of my eligibility and background check have started since the second week of August. I really wonder what the heck they're still reviewing till now. Maybe my application has been classified under the complex category. Someone in the past on this thread also had a similar experience, as he had to wait for six solid months before getting a final decision on his application.

The silence is epic indeed! But God no go shame us las las.

Hello Guys,

Please I need advise on something o, is it normal for biometrics not to have reflected over a month after submitting an application? My sister did not do biometrics with her application as she already has valid biometrics since 2019 when she applied for visit visa through paper route. She submitted since Oct 16, the only update showing is that background check is in process. No eligibility, no biometrics, nothing. Another strange thing is that when she logs in it always say there is a new message but the only messages there are the confirmation of submission and transmission messages. We have sent webform alongside emails regarding update of her biometrics, no response. Or is it because the 1st one was a paper application? Never experienced this with my own application so am confused, what should she do

No its a 2yrs programme but my passport expired within the 1st year. Validity of study permit is tied to expiration of passport date so had to file for an extension after getting a new passport. Same with kids since their applications are tied to mine. Also need to filer for an extension of work permit for hubby as well but was waiting for ours to come out 1st.

viviangogos:
Wow, congratulations to you and your family.
Just to confirm, the extension is for a second program right? Are you doing it in same school? Would it matter if one gets admitted in another province and extends their SP?

Can you help share documents submitted?
Thanks.

After a successful visa application and 2 refusals for request for written authorization, 2nd being a day to hubby's flight, my husband finally made it in on the 2nd September, on his SOWP. Call to IRCC Canada about enquiries for written authorization (WA) told me that he needs it, a subsequent email followed up after the call. Enquiry email to all IRCC offices: Nairobi office corroborated what IRCC said, that SOWP holder needs a WA. What saved the day was a response from the London Office 7 hours to his flight that a SOWP holder does not require a WA or any other supporting documents from IRCC to come into Canada. See confusion from different branches of the same office!. Hubby immediately rushed to do covid test at 4pm (flight was 10pm)! Flashed the letter in their faces and was allowed to board. POE Canada was a breeze and no mention was made about the previous refusals. Just happy to all be reunited again after 9 months. All the best to those still waiting. God will come through speedily for you as well IJN

please has IRCC requested an applicant here for additional medical information after an upfront medicals? What's that about? My Sis in law just received that email and am confused:

Dear Bleep

Your immigration medical examination result has been received and in order to complete the assessment additional information is required.

Please contact the office of your Panel Physician or any other Panel Physician approved by IRCC, who will need your IME number (indicated above) to access the instructions for the additional tests to be performed.

On the following link you will find a list of all the approved Panel Physicians that you may choose to complete your additional tests:

You need to do a proper application. I have done it and submitted, just wanted to be sure I was on the right track is why I asked. This number she is referring to is IRCC number, u cant get an extension for a permit by calling IRCC

Upeople:

Hmmm...just call immigration and ask for extension
Travel / Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Eilenora: 5:10pm On Aug 23, 2021
Do you know anyone that extended theirs this way though? Cos it looks to me like a proper visa application where u have to show proof of funds all over again, file on cic portal, do medicals if yours has expired, etc

SoFaithly:

This process is straightforward; there is a number at the back of your Study permit letter, just call it and ask for extension. It is what can be demanded for via phone.

Study permit for my 6 yrs old, visitor record for my 2 years old.
SOWP holders dont need authorization letters.
Hubby is fully vaccinated.

queenG2020:

Hi Eilenora, Did you get a study permit for your kids at the port of entry, I found it on IRCC website that children are allowed to attend school with their visitor's visa as long as the parent lives in Canada. Secondly, can you please tell me if your spouse got an authorization letter to travel and is he fully vaccinated ?

Hello @Eilenora,
My inquiry is as regards travelling with your children.

3) did you do medicals for them since they would be spending the timeline would would be in Canada with you. NOPE
Thanks as I wait your feedback.
Congratulations on your husbands application success.

Thanks,
Any feedback from the MP on your email? I am following same process for my mum. I got this feedback:

Thank you for reaching out to the office of MP Pam Damoff. I reviewed your email below, and unfortunately MP’s and MP offices are strictly prohibited from interfering in any IRCC processes such as this one. Although as the MP’s office we cannot expedite any applications, we can certainly look for a status update. If you would like me to enquire for one please fill out this form (attached) and forward to me at your earliest convenience.

What is the difference between this and gcms note?

I think this image shows the fee paid for DHL (not VFS). The VFS fee would be paid in Sterling Bank or through bank transfer to a dedicated account - only if they didn't capture biometric in Abuja ab initio.

See attached for VFS fee. Hubby submitted on Monday, he has received several notifications from VFS, and would most likely receive his passport back tomorrow. This is VFS fee. For DHL he paid like 14k or so for 2 way courier service

kife:

Hello Eilenora,
Will like to ask how I would submit passport to VFS now, please.

Just learnt no more in-person submissions.

So I just go to UPS and post passport to::

VFS 3rd Floor, Plot, Sterling Bank Plaza, 1083 Mohammadu Buhari Way, Central Business District 900211, Abuja, Nigeria

Can you please advise cost?
Do I have to pay for return as well?
Anyone has an idea the timeline for return?

Thanks in anticipation

Kids were stamped in till December which is when my passport expires, same as me, so am not sure there's anything to regularize. I am currently trying to apply for an extension of all our study permits, both mine and kids . I am hoping it comes out b4 hubby leaves for Nig so once he shows them at POE, they can give him an extended stay and not stamp him in till Dec as well. Our fingers are crossed as to how long TRV they will give him: 5yrs+ based on a new passport he got that we sent to them via webform and which he submitted today, or till Dec asper date of expiration of my own permit. Even with the December date, they realise my course is for 2yrs, so will that be taken into consideration? I guess at this point we can only speculate, so best to wait and see how it all plays out.

Documents I enclosed with my letter of invitation:
 Bio data page of my international passport,
 Evidence of previous visas and stamps in passport,
 Canadian Temporary Resident Visa (TRV),
 Evidence of commencement of process to renew my international passport as a prerequisite to applying for an extension of my study permit,
 A copy of the children’s USA international passports + birth certf,
 Unconditional letter of acceptance
 Letter of enrolment + school timetable,
 Study permits both for myself and the children,
 Evidence of payment of tuition for both 1st and 2nd term + account summary from Fanshawe web advisor,
 Marriage certificate + name change documents,
 Evidence of daughter’s enrolment in school,
 Family pictures (several pics pasted on a word document telling our story from how we met, when we got married, when kids came, the Canadian journey, us at the airport saying goodbyes, touch down in Canada, vals day celebrated in diaspora, daughter in school, screen munch of video calls,
 Evidence of accommodation in Canada

Documents hubby attached to his application letter:
Resume
Birth certf
Certifications
NYSC
IQAS
Passport bio data page
Employment documents: contract, promotion letters, pay slips, letter of introduction
Registration documents in respect of businesses he owns
Statement of account
Pension statement
Extract from PENCOM act (Clause 16(5) highlighted in felt pen)
Tenancy Agreement in Nigeria
Evidence of ownership of car
Reference letters
Evidence of ownership of landed property
Pics of aged parents (social ties)
Medical document showing Parents have pre-existing health conditions, (stronger social ties),
Police character certf

Already posted emotional follow up email sent to them in a previous post.
Hubby also renewed his intl passport and forwarded to them via webform a week ago I believe.

Applied for Gcms note 3 days to the request for PPR

Hope this helps?

All the best to everyone and thank you!!!!!!! Every single thing I know about SOWP was from reading from Page 1 of this thread at least 2-3x. I left nothing to chance. There was too mch as stake. Indeed, "it is not good for man to be alone" and God knows that. As they say in my place, "ire naa a kari gbogbo wa" meaning, the testimony will flow round to all of us IJN.

Akannitommy:
Hi @Eilenora,

Have you made any efforts to "regularize" your kids' status since you arrived? I reckon they need some form of records in addition to their US passport to avoid issue of overstay in future.

Can you enlighten us what you have learned about this or maybe conduct some research on it and be sure all is good about their current and future status?

Thanks.

Can you please share an update on this. Where did you submit and how long before you got your passport back?

This is it:

Pls try not to copy and paste o, use only as a template

I am xxxxxx (previously known as xxxxxx) with international passport number xxxx and Fanshawe College Student ID: xxxx. I am a Nigerian, a temporary resident of Canada and I am currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Business Management at the Fanshawe College.

I am married to Bleep who currently has before you, an application for a spousal open work permit with details as follows:

ü Principal Applicant: xx

ü Unique Client Identifier (UCI): xx

ü Application number: xx

ü Medicals passed: May 19, 2021

ü Date Received: March 15, 2021

ü Biometrics:

o Biometrics Number: xx

o Date of Biometrics Enrolment: March 19, 2021

o Expiry Date: March 19, 2031

I am writing to enquire into the status of this application.

I came into Canada with my 2 little girls (xx and xx) on December 29, 2021. My programme which commenced in January 2021 is for a two-year duration, to end in 2023. Wearing the dual hat of both mum and dad to my children alongside pursuing my post graduate studies has been extremely hard and not only am I on the verge of breaking down completely, but it also beginning to affect my studies as evidenced in me bagging distinctions in all my courses in the winter term, but was only able to make 2 distinctions in my mid-term result released just last week.

The effect on my little girls of my family being separated since we left Nigeria for Canada constantly breaks my heart as well. I try to be a pillar of support to them but at this point nothing seems to be working anymore. There is nothing I can do to comfort and console them of their dad’s absence and the long processing time. Father’s day celebration with my husband streaming into Bleep’s classroom to celebrate father’s day with her was supposed to be a pleasant surprise but seeing other children sitting on their father’s laps and getting physical hugs and cuddles was too much for my 6years old to handle; she was completely shattered and broken. Going grocery shopping has become a nightmare as she would often have melt downs each time a child walks past with the father. Both their appetites are also often lost during meal times as soon as they approach the dining table, staring at the empty seat where their father is supposedly to be sitting. Taking them to the parks, organizing socially distancing play dates for them, going on walks, and spending quality time with them no longer works as it only brings memories to them of happy moments together “as a family”.

Children do not have the ability to easily adapt and cope with being separated from one/both of their parents for an extended period of time. They need the love, support, attention and endearing presence of BOTH ‘mummy and daddy’ especially in their formative (0-cool years and feelings of abandonment and separation anxieties do not fit well into this mix. There is also an ache in the heart of parents when their families are separated as research has shown that long-distance parent-child relationships can bring down even the most resilient of parents. I am mentally and emotionally exhausted. My husband is also depressed with each day that passes by without him not being reunited with his family.

I am aware that family reunification is one of the 3 pillars of Canada’s immigration; with its policies and legislations having a long tradition of supporting family togetherness. Following this, I appeal to you to make it possible for my family and I to be together for the 2 years of my study duration as this will help to build our marriage, motivate performance in my academic pursuits, and boost the emotional and mental wellbeing of both myself and my girls, a void which can only be filled by my husband and their father.

Many thanks for your kind consideration.

Yours Sincerely,
