I forgot to add: You should also push for the abolishment of the 'Osu' caste system. It's a damn shame that we complain about marginalization but have refused to look into this century-old dark patch within our own community. It is really sad that we continue to punish our own blood for the acts allegedly commited by their ancestors which are no fault of theirs. Isn't it sad that we have refused to accept these people despite the fact that they have our blood running through their veins, look like us, dress like us, act like us, share our beliefs and speak the same language as we do? If we fail to address this problem then it would be completely hypocritical of us to complain about marginalization. Sad but true. And finally: We all saw Ojukwu's Biafra blueprint - and as good as it was, the man has passed away, so we are not even 100% guaranteed this idea wouldn't be hijacked by an evil criminal if Biafra ever comes to pass. For remember - For every Chinua Achebe, there's a Chris Uba; for every Nnamdi Azikiwe, there's an Ikedi Ohakim; and for every Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, there's an Otokoto. So, let us plan our lives according to the current situation in 2011 and not 1967. Thanks for your time. ![]() |
8. The election of Charles Soludo as governor of Anambra State. Believe me, he's by no means perfect, but you can't rule out the fact that the brotha has IDEAS! 9. An 'Imo-style' revolution against the many corrupt politicians that have ravaged our beloved states - particularly Abia and Ebonyi. 10. And finally, my brothers and sisters, I sabi say una bodi dey hot; but secession no be beans. Let's first push for a Confederation and see how it goes. Cheers ![]() |
(Cont'd) 5. The rapid completion of the Onitsha Sea Port. This would aid ease of trade for the many commerce-inclined Igbos we're blessed with, reduce trade costs, as well as generate decent revenue for Anambra State. 6. The rapid completion of the Enugu International Airport, as well as the clamour for the upgrading of the Sam Mbakwe Airport (Imo State) to international standard. 7. The restructuring of the taxing system in the SE, to ensure the state government gets more from tax revenue. As we all know, tax is almost non-existent in the South East, and this is economically unhealthy. It's also sad, cuz they're are so many self-made millionaires scattered around Imo, Enugu and Anambra (especially). Trust me, these guys are minted! But it's really weird cuz the people of the South East are financially well to do, while the government is broke. I believe proper taxation would help generate good revenue for the goverment, so as to help it execute various projects on its own. (To be continued) |
If you really mean well for us your fellow Igbos, here are the REAL things you should be pushing for: 1. The immediate halting of the proposed 'Orimili State' as well as the instant cancelling of every other state creation projects that are begging to be actualised in the SE. These add absolutely nothing positive to our economy if not jacking up recurrent expenditure. And we all know no nation moves forward with a recurrent expenditure that runs neck-and-neck with the capital expenditure. 2. The instant dissolution of Ebonyi State and the ceding of its land to Enugu and Anambra states. The Ebonyi project was dead on arrival, and was only brought up to 'balance the equation'. This is completely wrong. In sane countries, states are created according to resources and to aid better administration and not to satisfy ethnic sentiments. 3. The ceding of Anioma to Anambra and Imo states. 4. The immediate impeachment and/or incarceration/assassination of T.A. Orji and Martin Elechi, as well as Orji Uzor Kalu and Chris Uba. (To be continued) |
Please guys, I'm on my knees and pleading with you - with beads of blood and sweat rolling down my neck - let's give this Ojukwu-Biafra thing a rest for at LEAST a week. PLEASE. Don't get me wrong, I love my ethnic group and appreciate all he did and hoped to, but we REALLY need to let this extremely tired story rest for a while. PLEASE. You may not know it, but if you carry on with this endless histrionic attitude, you will only become a nuisance to us progressive Igbos. Why can't you just give the endless bellowing a rest and let us enjoy this beautiful Christmas season in peace? Why have you chosen to remain so pessimistic? Why can't you just cheer up for once and devote this season to being thankful for seeing another year? |
'Started'? His mates from 'The Graduation Class Of 2015' are on their final lap and he's just 'starting'? Wow, dude. |
Ol' boy eee! Wetin be dis? Na dis kind thing dem come dey bomb? No be common pushing send this building to scatter? Chaaaiii! What a waste of bombs! |
Na waa oh. I remember I last visited this thread on, like, the first or second page. Look how long it is now. Tribal issues too dey sweet NL people sha. |
It's sad. So very sad. |
R.I.P. Ikemba. Much respect. |
As far as conspiracy theories go, though, I wonder if this would also help in the actualization of Nigeria's predicted dissociation come 2015. With Britain withdrawing their aid, it makes one wonder if the overrated Nigerian Army would be able to contain another civil war, since it is well documented that their 1970 victory (after a 3 year battle against a side who used locally made weapons during battle) was chiefly as a result of food blockade and weapon supplies from Britain and the (now disbanded) Soviet Union. |
Nigeria reserves the right to make whatever law she wants, no matter how weird it may be. But at the same time, America also reserves the right to withdraw her aids and completely snub any country that goes against her fundamental ideology. 1-1. |
Ejine, you ever heard of the baseball world series? A number of teams, all Americans and playing within America but titled world championship. Anyway, everything is commercialized nowadays, including school rankings. American or European evaluators are never ever going to put an African school as best in the World, no matter if they outperform Havard and Cambridge ad Oxford and Sorbone all put together. Moreover, at individual level, I don't know about Europeans but I do kow that Africans are better educated than Americans, merit for merit at least in theoreticals. If we had the materials and finaces I dont doubt that we will also outperform them in applications. So when you hear that an African school in iternational competition was defeated to a 14th rank, I'd say subtract 10 from that to compensate for rigging and then within your own conscience be proud that they came 4th.
LMAOOOOO! Okay sir! Meanwhile guys, this is a similar thread opened by Luvola the day before. This time, he claimed LASU was best in Africa, 7th best in the World www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-820664.0.html |
Your initial claim was that otherExactly still remains the case. Answer me: Have any other news outlets reported the story or are you going to give me another moot scoresheet punctuated with empty, meaningless, childish insults? Well as we now know, nothingNope. As we've now come to see, thread title itself has been proven to be nothing more than a blatant lie from an overzealous news outlet with questionable motives. Cuz last time we checked, University of Chicago is still World's 14th best and NOT LASU. Oops. If you hadn't resorted to pointless futile insults, then maybe things wouldn't have turned out this way. I gotta say a special thank you to Loma for providing that link and effectively shooting down your empty boasts. ![]() |
luvola:This is the World ranking of University Law faculties: www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2011/subject-rankings/social-sciences/law That position you're talking about? It's occupied by the University of Chicago. Guys, don't get me wrong - I'm proud of these guys and happy for them. But my argument has always been on the Falsity of the article! Simple! Why's that so hard to see?! And people are already quick to brand me a 'bad belle'. Bad belle on what? The achievements of my FELLOW countrymen? Please, just get it right - not everyone is interested in partisan politics! |
Please stop the bait andToo funny! The one advise I'd give you is to not try outrunning your shadow. The poster's title insinuates LASU Law Faculty is the best in Africa, does it not? So, naturally, if this is true, the only google keywords it would require to reveal the story would be "LASU Law faculty best in Africa", should it not? Or do I now have to start aimlessly ransacking the internet for some Moot score sheet to reveal this so called list? You're a very funny character. Unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons. orOf course it goes a very long way to say so. You can't stage a competition from a handful teams and then call the winner the best in the World. You're never to be taken seriously with that. Stick to your initial argument andQuite frankly, I think it is you who needs to drop the childish ad hominem attacks and focus on the crux of the argument, which is all about the falsity of the tabloid, because: 1. Nowhere does the message from the FDI moot competition name LASU as best in Africa, 2. The message there shows they came 34th and NOT even 14th. But you conveniently skipped that part only to write me an anger-filled sob story about how we should be proud, and yet you have the NERVE to say someone else is switching arguments? Mr Brotherman. SMH. |
loma:LOL. In this list, I don't see Lagos anywhere. And sitting comfortably on number 14 is the University of Chicago. You see? I made a rebuttal on the story and a brother came with a result sheet from a Moot competition, while the other already resorted to cusses and unnecessary insults. Why? :\ Na so this Politics section be? Na wa oh. |
Jeez. Easy guys. No need for hateful insults, please. To make things clear, my statements still remain valid, because: 1. The list you posted there is from a competition attended by some students from some universities who volunteered to attend. This does not in any way signify 'World's best', because the grading is only by universities which featured in it. 2. The claims made by 'The Nation' still remain false, because, even after voluntarily attending the competition, the team finished 34th out of 35, and not 14th best in the World, like the poster bluntly claims. Please, let us be objective and leave tribal sentiments. Let us discuss like normal humans for once, because I do not like the direction this whole thing is going. Please, just respect yourselves and try to be civil, or you will leave me with no options than to report to mods (can't believe I even said that). |
Yes ooo! Christmas day is fast approaching, and the pastors need to put 'sontin' for pocket ![]() |
Guys, google it. There's no other news body affirming this story except Bola Tinubu's 'The Nation'. What is going on? |
Wait. I just did a Google search, and I've got to ask: Why is 'The Nation' the only news tabloid carrying this story? And as we all know, 'The Nation' is owned by the one and only Bola Tinubu. Care to explain why this is so? Because, I know alot about university affairs worldwide; and I know that when such claims are made, there's a generally accessible information on the firm that carried out the research, and the list itself is fully accessible on the public domain. An instance is the new list that Cambridge has surpased Harvard. Google it and you'll see the list as well as the story being acknowledged by reputable news firms to be true. But on the case of this story on this thread, I google it and all I see is Bola Tinubu's 'The Nation' as the only site carrying this story. Care to shed a little more light on this, sir? ![]() |
@OYB Link, boss. C'mon, work with me here ![]() |

So, what are the current scores as they stand? Will anyone be kind enough to compile for a bruvvah? |
Ejiné I of Anioma is still laughing. ![]() |
Anyway, as much as we may nominate Gbawe and Onlytruth, each and everyone of us knows who the true winner is, and his name starts with a B. . . ![]() |
EzeUche:It's all about business competition, actually. Most wouldn't want to commute in a place like Onitsha, because there are about 600,000 traders who still deal with the type of stuff they do, hence stiff competition. But when their shops are situated in the North (a place where the majority are into nomadic livestock farming), you see their businesses flourishing because there aren't much traders to challenge them with equal things of better quality. It's that simple, really. |
