MT: When you say public space, please can you point me to where that is?. Do I have to be a builder before I can demand to know how much was expended on the flyover built for the public ?. I listened to Ajimobi's manifesto and I knew what he promised which made me to cast my vote for him and I know what is happening now. Was it not this same Ajimobi that went to erect tents and organised party to open the so called "restoration bridge" along bodija axis?. Our sensibilities have been insulted enough. If you have any grudge with Ajimobi because he spent the state's money to build public infrastructure and better the lives of the people of his state, wait till the next election and re install the clowns before him that did nothing for 8 years. Furthermore, all this useless rubbish about cost is really silly because if you are really concerned about cost which is your right, common sense should tell you that NL is not the state's budget office, it's not the state's finance ministry, it's not the governor's office. There is something called the FOI so send your request to the state for any info on the project. It's even a shame that at this point you don't have this info. It's either you are too lazy to look around the internet for it or you are really not concerned and this is just you running your mouth for nothing because the cost is not a secrete, it's N2.5 billion and this info is all over the place, even your PDP friends have this figure. |

PapaBrowne: You guys are absolutely shameless sha.
I visited Enugu for the first time 3 weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of that city. Only Abuja and Calalbar can boast of that quality. I have also been in all the western states. Schooled in OAU,Ife briefly. My conclusion: you wonder why the west had no improvements since the days of Awo. Osogbo, Ogbomosho, Ile Ife, Abeokuta, and the worse of them all, Ado Ekiti are all very brown roofed towns with no improvements since 1960's.
And to make a better comparison, Enugu Airport carries more passengers every year than all the 5 south west states put together! Olodo WAEC drop out? What's your irrelevant regurgitation got to do with the topic. Do you people really thing you make sense or people buy your empty and shallow chest beating and boasting? All you people have is mouth, but never anything to show us or back up your boasting with? How come all we see on NL everyday is this and that projects with facts and pictures in the SW and never anything from your backward villages as if your villages don't collect allocations and taxes? Your village governors don take money shop isi ewu while you losers boast with nothing to show on the internet. Your villages are this and that, but your survival and fascinations remains in the SW. This is your reality and not the empty rubbish you people spew on NL. Your people remained in darkness because of lack of care and incompetency and you are here beating chest and raving about irrelevant garbage? You people are so mindless and thoughtless just like your incompetent leaders... Who are you fooling? Yourselves. shiorrrrr... |

Aba set for industrial revolution as first integrated power plant takes off
Meanwhile Aba is set to experience an unprecedented Industrial revolution that will change the Economic Climate of Eastern Nigeria as Jonathan's Power Privatization policies takes full gear see below
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=117665:aba-set-for-industrial-revolution-as-first-integrated-power-plant-takes-off-&catid=1:national&Itemid=559
New power sector roadmap to be implemented religiously, says Nebo ABIA State’s commercial nerve centre, Aba, and environs are set to bounce back as a major industrial hub, as President Goodluck Jonathan prepares to commission Nigeria’s first integrated power plants in May, going by information from the promoters of the project.
This gives further verve to the assurance by the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, that the reviewed power sector roadmap currently being fine-tuned would be implemented religiously.
Nebo, who spoke when Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State visited him in Abuja, stressed that the roadmap would not be abandoned since the Federal Government was committed to energising the South-East industrial hub, especially Nnewi, Onitsha and Aba axis, to boost their manufacturing potentials.
Meanwhile, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Andrew Pocock, has lamented Nigeria’s unstable electricity supply to its people, stressing that in the past 30 years, the country had struggled to provide just about 5,000 megawatts of power to its citizens.
Nevertheless, he believes that the ongoing privatisation of the power sector was in the right direction, and if sustained and corruption dealt with, Nigeria would become a world with political and economic power.
Cited in Aba, the project will generate, transmit and distribute power to the over three million residents of Aba metropolis, serving the area on an island mode. The Aba Integrated Power Project (IPP) has three units with a total capacity of 141 megawatts (mw).
Work on the fourth unit with an additional 47mw would be intensified once the first three units have been fired. According to officials, three turbines were virtually ready, two of them 95 per cent ready while the third is 90 per cent. The three units are all gas-fired, with about $466 million said to have been sunk into the project so far.
Technical Adviser at Geometric Power Limited, which owns the project, Okwudiri Ehilegbu, who conducted journalists round the facility yesterday, said the project would guarantee at least 95 per cent uninterrupted power supply.
He said that Geometric’s electricity load study of Aba, which does not include suppressed load due to limitations associated with existing distribution network, indicated that the area requires between 94-108mw of electricity, while the excess would be fed into the national grid.
On the issue of gas, which had plagued the thermal, he stressed: “This project won’t have problem with gas. We have secured a gas deal with Shell. We have got gas from Shell gathering location from Owaza, 27 kilometres to the plant. The dedicated gas pipelines have been laid from Owaza, remaining the end facilities.
“Each unit is rated 47mw. A total of 141mw is expected from the three units very soon. The fourth one expected to generate 47mw is not yet ready. In all, 188mw of electricity will be generated from the units at the completion of the entire project.”
Pocock spoke during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, where he recalled: “I was here in 1980, which was a period the country was just coming out from long years of military rule, when the oil boom peaked and public infrastructure grew with the attainment of over 5,000 megawatts of electricity.
“Thirty years after and because of corruption in resource allocation process, it became difficult to deliver infrastructure to the people that today, this country is still generating the same quantum of electricity generated 30 years ago.”
Identifying corruption as the bane of Nigeria’s infrastructure development, he commended the power sector privatisation, stating: “If this process is transparently done, there is no doubt that Nigeria will be on the verge of industrial revolution in the next few years.
In his remarks, Lamorde said the agency had secured a restraining order on the United Kingdom (UK) accounts of fraudsters of fuel subsidy regime, explaining that the EFCC was formalising ways of getting the funds forfeited and repatriated to Nigeria.
While thanking the UK government for its support in the fight against corruption in Nigeria, he urged the High Commissioner to use his office in the repatriation of funds belonging to the importers back to the Nigerian government.[/s] Wrong thread. You people don't get tired of all your fake news paper, internet delusions and pronouncements with zero reality? |

IMPROVED POWER SUPPLY IN OSUN; AREGBESOLA DESERVES ACCOLADE NOT JONATHANThe Vanguard Newspaper of Sept 4 , 2012 reported how over 50 communities within Oji River, Udi, Ezeagu, Igbo-Eze South and Igbo-Eze North LGA’s in Enugu State were thrown into darkness following a Major fault on the 7.5 MVA transformer at Oji River substation, these communities were in darkness for several months as the Power Holding Company kept promising to fix the faulty transformer.
Its however a different story for communities in Ife North LGA namely Akinlau, Asipa, Yakoyo, Moro, Ipetumodu, Edunabon and Isope that experienced a serious setback in their electricity supply as result break down of the 2.5MVA Transformer powering the said area. The service provider Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company was approached to replaced the already over stretched 2.5MVA as the power consumption of the affected communities had even increased by over 100% but this never yield a positive result as the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company said they had no budgetary provision for the replacement of the spoilt substation which evidently meant that these communities were going to remain in darkness until the PHCN had a budgetary provision, unlike the 50 communities in Enugu that had to wait upon PHCN, The people of Ife North LGA had compassionate Governor Rauf Aregbesola to run to and trust Baba Kabiru himself, he was fast at taking the bull by the horn, as he agreed to undertake the project which entailed the up-grading of the required capacity of the injection station therein from the then 5MVA which dropped to 2.5MVA, to 7.5MVA in view of the fact that electrical load of the area had gone beyond 5MVA and within 4months the responsive Aregbesola administration under the Office of Rural and Community Development installed and commissioned a Brand New 7.5MVA injection substation at Origbomeje in Ife-North Local Government as well as installation of another 2.5MVA at Ode omu.
I was further astounded to know that 77 Rural Electrification Projects listed below had been completed by Aregbesola administration across the state within the last two years with the promise of more to come while his predecessor only managed to completed 48 Electrification Projects in its over seven years in office . https://oi46.tinypic.com/10ws1hs.jpghttp://www.osundefender.org/?p=84113https://www.worldstatesmen.org/ng-osun.gifO su a dara o......... |

Professional, personal and societal failings is the fault of 'whitey'.
To these bitter and twisted souls, any successful black person who does not want to join them in the gutter of racism, or a malevolent fixation on the past, is an "Uncle Tom". Yet ask the losers, who all fancy themselves as Nkrumahs and Lumumba, what they are doing for Africa and the answer is a big fat zero !!!!
We are talking of today and a period the Nigerian is in control and should really be showing he can control his own fate, as he asked to do, for the advancement of the biggest black nation on earth. Instead some loser is telling us to ask Britain to account for money looted from Africa in 1852 !!! Let us dwell on the past then and make that fixation 'carte blanche' for African leaders doing the most horrible things to those they lead in 2013 and beyond. Well said. I had an argument with then joker the other day about Nigeria giving national awards to criminals, corrupt and incompetent people and the clown made so many excuses and justify that rubbish by railing on irrelevant Noble that has nothing to do with Nigeria and even the discussion. From their Ibori experience and the knowledge of official and institutional corruption in Nigeria, I don't think they are counting on Nigeria to give him up especially knowing Jonathan the current president was his deputy and he obviously was part of the scam and looting. They'll just wait and hope he leaves Nigeria for any country and from there, they'll issue their international arrest warrant for his arrest and extradition to the UK just like ibori. The Fulani, through their version of violence Islam, have succeeded in taking over both the political and economic control and command of the Hausaland. They have ensured Hausa children lack access to qualitative education.
A recent survey of North-West Nigeria shows that for every 10 university graduates, all 10 are Fulani. Of the 100 secondary school leavers, polled, only 8 are Hausa, the rest are Fulani. Almajiri is a deliberate policy of the Fulani to keep the Hausa in perpetual misery. We must open up the mind of the Hausa to take over the command and control of the political and economic sphere of their region. The best means of stopping Boko Haram is to tell Hausa to confront Fulani for elective posts. The North-West belongs to them. They must take it back politically. They have got the numbers.
By: Adeyinka Grandson. In their arrogance they put Hausas down and you would think that they are very powerful. But Hausas know them to be powerless hence when they like it they kill a few Igbos. And what do Igbos do when they are killed? They do not stand at where they are attacked and fight back. Real men do not flee when attacked; they stay right there and fight back and if needs be get killed rather than run away. Instead, Igbos would carry their loads on their heads and like cowards run to Igbo land.
These people who verbally insult Hausas in every which way is imaginable do not stay in Hausa land and fight Hausas when Hausas kill them; they turn tails and run! Zona.com: YES! Achebe is in the league of mandela and others like the great zik of africa. These people were pace setters in their areas of endeavour. Mandela fought for the freedom of his people physically and politically, so did zik and others. In the case of achebe HE HELPED TO LIBERATE AFRICA MENTALLY. Have you taken time to read about some of his achievements? He single handedly corrected the evil notion the outside world had about africa. Before achebe and his likes, the whites who'd never been to africa thought the continent was just a hell-hole. So i repeat HE IS IN THE LEAGUE OF MANDELA AND OTHERS. Everybody must not go to prison. Mandela even said in his tribute, that it was in the company of achebe's novel that the prison walls came crashing If you are around the Igbo all you hear are boasts about his real and imaginary accomplishments. He is very vainglory seeking
The Igbo is narcissistic in that he thinks that he is special and that other people ought to admire him. The Igbo actually imagines that other Nigerians are his inferiors and ought to admire him.
