Politics / Re: Amotekun Will Affect Nigeria's Unity - Arewa Consultative Forum by Ekpeitut: 10:28am On Jan 18, 2020
Just wow! Every Tom, Dick and Harry is now singing national unity, I wonder where they were when the herdsmen were killing, maiming and raping people with reckless abandon.

Amotekun must be a damn good initiative. See how they are shaking. If not for anything the mere fact that these northerners are the only ones opposing Amotekun means there's been a sinister plan to undermine and create general insecurity in the south using the fulani herdsmen.

Says the president who had all his kids study overseas. You don't even believe in the country you're leading.

Sometimes I'm feel ashame for our politicians. Imagine Trump's kids schooling in naija.(Freaking impossible). Yet ours see it as a thing of pride even when they have in their hands the capacity and mandate to build model schools and ensure a high educational standards across schools.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Full Text Of Trump's Speech On Iran And Reaction On Social Media by Ekpeitut: 11:21am On Jan 09, 2020
Chai. Can a Nigerian president ever sound this way, reassuringly sure of the things he's saying. Ours is one lame, uninspiring excuse of a president.

I will this...
We will that...
But nothing ever gets done.

There's a silent pogrom ongoing against Christians and indigenous people in the north over their ancestral lands yet nothing is being done. Imagine the beheading of Christians on last year's Christmas day. No out rage from the presidency, no firm action. Nothing.

Sucks to be a Nigerian.

NaijaFutbol:
Nigeria needs a vision to believe in. The country is a collection of sections with different ideals of what progress means. Without unity of purpose, the country will remain backward. As you can see from the last set of elections, things cannot change because the side with more violence will always win.

If you have a family, better go raise them in a sane country where meritocracy and competence comes before ethnicity, quota and religion. They will see doctors who didn’t “sort” to make it out of medical school and will not need to answer yes sir to one illiterate whose only qualification is being born in the same town as one military administrator.

You can stay abroad and contribute your best in cash and kind.

Be open to starting afresh and conquer any austere condition as you may not be able to live large for some time.

Finally:
If you voted for or supported Buhari at any point, may your efforts yield no result. You better stay here and enjoy your change.

Thanks for your contribution.
And HELL NO I didn't vote BUHARI. I never believed in the dude for one second. I was born right about when he was military head of state and according to my parents everything happening now is like deja vu of his military regime.

Travel / Insomnia Thoughts - Should I Relocate Or Not? by Ekpeitut: 12:52am On Jan 04, 2020
Hello my people,

I've had this strong desire to relocate out of naija given the harsh economic climate, the hopelessness, insecurity and other ills. (Note: I live comfortably and earn decent wage, had part of my education outside Nigeria, my job also allows me travel outside every once in a while)

I had started the relocation process but I keep stalling because of the following questions/ thoughts that keeps popping up in my mind;

1. If all the sane Nigerians flee Nigeria who then remains to fight for the soul of Nigeria (Some may say Nigeria isn't worth fighting for) sadly I agree but it's all we've got.

2. The country I intend relocating to have had their fair share challenges but somehow rose above them to create the utopia that now appeals to me. So what's stopping me from doing same in my Country ? ( One tree can't make a forest - that's my answer)

I just want to sample opinions. Please keep them coming.

You forgot to include defending Abacha. Buhari sole mission in office is to make Nigeria the undisputed corruption capital of the world.

See ehn when Buhari said Abacha never stole he meant it. Let me explain when a northerner is in power he believes he owns everything( i.e the wealth of the nation) hence Buhari's logic that you can't steal what you own. undecided

Same applies today former president Jonathan stole because he's a southerner but Buhari isn't stealing because he's a northerner. Sense wee not killme grin

Sports / Re: Nigeria Loses Bid To Host U-20 Women’s World Cup by Ekpeitut: 10:48am On Dec 23, 2019
"Nigeria’s bid would have seen games staged in Lagos, Benin City, Asaba and Uyo, but the world football governing body said it has opted for the first jointly hosted tournament in Costa Rica and Panama after an inspection visit to both Concacaf nations as well as further discussions with the two relevant member associations"

So northern Nigeria can't boast of a conducive atmosphere to host an event of this magnitude, they always hide under the south and west. Can't they take a cue from their brothers in the UAE? They only come first in negative indices like poverty, religious ethno violence, nepotism, intolerance and other vices. undecided

One of the following will take place within the next 24 hrs and subsequently the rest may follow;

- DSS invades The Punch newspaper headquarters.
- Soldiers lay blockade on the entrance of punch's headquarters and prevents workers from going in.
- Buhari's spokesmen will come out to say The Punch newspaper is being used by external forces to turn the masses against Buhari and destabilise his government.
- BMO will organise protesters with placards protesting against The Punch and requesting the shutting down of all its newspaper outlets.

Interesting times ahead.

Young millionaire, it happens all over the country, across all tribes.

Don't join some set of foolish troublemakers that pray for disunity and violence in the country in their foolishness please.

What unity? Are we really United? And why must there be violence if a region seeks independence from an unfair system.

We hate the east, we don't trust them, we neglect their region, we don't run an all inclusive government yet we expect them to stay in a forced marriage called "one Nigeria".

" Nigeria’s greatness is not as tied to her elders as it is tied to her youth. That is where our investments should be focused on ”

Sadly this government does not understand this.

With the unprecedented levels of borrowing one would think Nigeria is in an era of industrial/ technological renaissance but alas! We are only just borrowing to pay salaries and loot the remaining ones. How can you borrow 30 years worth of loans and still not have steady electricity, good roads and infact sef free education. Haba! a major oil producing nation for that matter.

I know how much I pay monthly as tax yet there's absolutely nothing to show for it. They are busy crafting new tax schemes to impose on Nigerians even as they are unable to account for all the ones they've been collecting and Nigerians are keeping quiet. angry
