OP is a holder of EuFam Resident permit. This is a resident permit given to non-eu family member of EU Citizen exercising their right to live and work in another member country. It is also know as Article 10 residence permit. This permit is powerful and stronger that ordinary local resident permits. The permits allows holders to visit all EU/EEA countries without an entry visa, so far they are travelling with the EU citizen. If traveling alone, they require to carry a copy of EU citizen passport and proof of relationship eg marriage certificate if it’s a spouse. Also since the OP is spouse of EU citizen, he can apply for visa to any EU countries free of charge under EU free movement laws. Hope this clarification help.

If you have a valid USA visa and your departure flight to USA is within the same terminal building, then you have no problem as you will not be required to leave the terminal building. However, if you intend to leave the terminal building or change terminals for your connecting flight. Then you will need a transit visa.

If there is no visa sticker on your passport and that of your son; and no refusal letters attached. Then there is a mistake somewhere. It is better you contact UKVI.

Hi all, I have searched everywhere on nairaland for this but could'nt find anything useful. I am about to apply for tier2 UK visa and tier 2 dependent visa for my wife and child. I however have another child born out of wedlock who is now 6years old and I intend to bring him to the UK too.

People tell me it is not likely to be approved because his case is more complicated. His name appears on my marriage certificate (single with a child) and my name is also on his birth certificate. His mother is willing to provide every necessary document and is in full support of this.

Could you please advice me on what to do, documents to provide and how I can proceed with this? Thank you.

What you need to show proof that you are the father of the child (birth certificate, photos) and a letter of consent from the mother permitting you to travel with the child. The mother can say that it’s better for the child to be with his father for needed support and better education in the UK.

The fact that you submit a group application does not means that there will be group processing. So it could be the same ECO or different ECO. Members have posted situation of group application that was decided by different ECOs. Each application is treated on it own merit.

I was denied student visa in 2004 but could not lay my hands on the refusal letter nor the old passport I used then because I have to declare my previous refusal. Not compulsory. Just mention the type of visa, date of refusal and reasons. The UKVI can always retrieve your refusal letter from your file if necessary.

The OP can wait if he is not a frequent traveler or do not have any reason to travel ASAP. For those of us that travel frequently, I can not allow my passport to be with any embassy for more than 4 weeks maximum for a visit visa.

Okay the document are sufficient. However, you will need to convince the ECO why you choosed UK for vacation. I suggest that you do a detail itinerary of places you will be visiting and why. This can be listed in the cover note to the ECO.

Yes, in the new online application website. You will need to use a different email address for each application. However, the old online application website allows the use of a single email address for multiple applications.

How can one visit the UK embassy in VI without an invitation..will the security men at the gate even allow me in talkless of listening to me,..i have been considering this options but i felt it would be a waste of time as i won't be allowed in without prior invitation by the embassy...i honestly don't know why the UK embassy would keep one's passport for this long,..i wish to make other travel arrangement but without my passport..there is literally nothing i can do...i got pissed when i received another mail asking me to wait for another 15 working days,..which means i won't get my passport until next month April..are this people serious at all ? at least other people receive mail about their application not being straightforward and the UKVI needing more time before making a decision..but to me,the only mail i got was the one that says something about my passport now waiting for decision and this has been since 4th of DEC 2017..i think they threw my application away lol

Go to embassy with your TLS collection slip. Speak with security officer at the gate telling them that you are going to visa/consular section to enquire about your visa application and possibly to retrieve your passport. If you explain your situation, they will allow you in or call an embassy official to attend to you. If they say you should send an email, insist that you have done that, but you are not satisfied with their responds, that you need to speak with a visa officer urgently.

Technically the OP is free to re apply anytime, however practically, his application will be considered under 320(7B), meaning that a refusal will attract a possible 10 years ban at the descretion of the ECO. Having say that, only a divine intervention can make ECO not apply the 10 years ban in the event of a refusal. In order words, for the OP reaapplication in 2018 to be successful 6 year after the previous refusal, the OP must be able to convince the ECO beyond reasonable doubt the issue of the forge Tax clearance certificate raised by the ECO was not willful deception. The OP will need an immigration lawyer preferable based in the UK with proven records of success in addressing 320(7A) refusals to handle his next application for any change of success. The bottom line is that OP will not be seeing the UK soil in a very very long time. If the OP is really interested in visiting the UK, let him contact a UK based immigration lawyer ASAP. Alternatively, the OP can bite the bullet, reapply and get the 10 years ban so that the clock can start counting till 2028. The truth is that refusal under 320(7A) is the UK immigration stylist way of saying we cut you for deception, but we cannot give you a 10 year ban immediately according to our immigration rules and guidelines, but if you dare apply again, we shall ban you for 10 year!

My issue is around my sisters proof of finances. Like previously stated she doesn’t have a decent balance on her personal “savings” account . Money she pays in there gets spent immediately and she really can’t build it up as I need the application sent in by May.
This is why I ask if I should just leave out the savings account from the application doc list and submit only the business account since I am the one sponsoring ?

Also, I understand schools pay flat tax fee. Which makes it difficult to calculate monthly income. Any suggestion on how I can go about this? Also bearing in mind that school fees aren’t paid monthly.

Thirdly the section of the form that asks how much the trip will cost her personally, will it hurt to put £0 there since I am fullly covering all bills and will be stating it on my letter?

She can always use additional paper or cover letter to explain any issues with the application form. This will include how she runs her business and salary account and her inability to compute monthly earning etc. As per how much the trip will cost her? I suggest that you include some amount, such as money for shopping, movies, etc. I am sure you’ll not be footing that aspect.

Most tourists prefer budget accommodation such as hostel or Airbnb. So there is no problem if you book one. However, look for those that offer free cancelation or payment on arrival. Never pay for a booking until you’re have gotten a visa.

If Sheffield has made a decision, then I suggest you visit TLS office, your passport could be there for pick up.

Sure if you can afford the application fee. There is no rule that say you must apply for 5 years after 2 years visa.

Morning my people . Apologies for the long post. Just want it to make sense. Please I need advice from experienced members or those who had gone through similar process.

I am a British citizen due to give birth in August . From known complications it will be a scheduled Csection. I also have a little boy if 2 and live with my husband. I need extra help at the time of Delivery especially with my little one at home and husband in the hospital.

So I want to invite my senior sister to the UK during the time of delivery for just a couple of weeks. Will be fully sponsoring the trip and paying all travel and maintenance costs as part of the visit.

my sister is self employed and owns a school registered only in her name.

I am aware of the docs to submit but concerned around her evidence of income in Nigeria and how to state it. I have no experience on self employment route.

So she has a business account for the school and all fees paid into the account. Teacher salaries are paid from the account too. She also does personal spendings from the account. She doesn’t pay herself any salary. She just spends from the account as required.

Here are my issues that I need advice on please:
1. How will I state what her income is please as she doesn’t pay herself any salary.
2. She has a savings account that she sometimes transfers money to and also spends the money for the household (she is currently the breadwinner). So this account has no useful balance. Probably less than 100k. I want to avoid adding this statement to the application which will probably cause more harm than good. Is this a good idea?
3. As per point 2 , it means the business account will be the only bank account statement being submitted. Will this be an issue?
4. On the form, it asks for the cost of travel to the applicant , is it safe to say £0 as I will be fully sponsoring the trip. On the other hand , if we state £250 will be business account be a good evidence of where the proof of funds will come from?
5. On the form it also asks for monthly spendings and income, can the business account which is the only account statement being submitted be a good evidence?

I will highly appreciate responses to my question .

Please also see list of docs being submitted from the applicant side . Is there anything else to add?
1. Business CAC
2. School registration papers and certificates
3. Business bank account in school name.
4. Business up-to date Tax payment receipts
5. Marriage certificate
6. All Children birth certificates
7. Evidence of owing Home In husband’s name
8. Nepa bill or any utility bill in husband’s name


Note I am fully sponsoring so will be submitting my bank details, payslips etc...

The applicant should submit both business and personal bank statements in addition to what you have listed. The application should focus more on the reason for her visit to be successful. So you will need to show the ECO why you need her to be in the UK at that time. I will suggest you include doctors report, pre natal visits, etc.

I hold dual citizenship i.e Nigeria and the UK. It is my intention to bring my daughter to the UK to be close to me. I have spoken to her mum at length and we have both agreed the best choice for them to move to the UK. I am worried I might have to marry the mother, I dont want to do that as we are two different people. how can I go about this?


My profile: I work as a business analyst in the UK with above average pay, dont really have a lot of cash savings as I have recently purchase a property in Nigeria for my mum. I can afford to rent a property for them to stay once they are here.

It will be difficult if not impossible to bring you daughter and her mother into the UK via the visitor visa route. Since you’re not ready to marry her, then you will have to think of other creative ways.

I would suggest the following options:
1. Apply for your daughter British passport. You will need a lot of documentation beside her Nigerian Birth certificate. You may also be required to do a DNA test.
2. If the mother of your daughter has strong ties to Nigeria. She can apply on her own right to visit the UK without involving you as a sponsor. When she get into the UK she can apply to remain as a mother of British Citizen.

In summary your daughter is the key to her mother relocating to the UK. However, She must get her British passport first through you for this work. @Justwise and other will be able to offer other options.

Also my bank balance which is my savings salary account which i use for both jobs only (which i'm submitting), should i declare it as the savings in this section?



P.S i have no other savings except unspent funds (after monthly expenses) from the salary account.

Provide income from your main job. If you have other sources of income then declare it also. You cannot sum up the two. All savings should be in another bank account.

You should be honest as I believed that you should know what you spend monthly on the average as living expenses. The ECO is not fooled, they can determine your pattern of expenses from your bank statement.

The refusal letter is based on the fact that the applicatant did not provide a cover letter detailing information on the visit. If the visit is for tourism, then the applicant must provide a detail itinerary listing tourist location to visit, date of visit and why. Also the applicant must correct the mistake pointed out by the ECO on living expenses. If the applicant wish to reapply, he/she must read backward on this thead on how to package a tourist application. Many applicants with less income have gotten tourist visa by providing detail information on their visit as first time visitors.

Please I need your advise on this: we submitted a group application and we paid for one of the applications that the passport be delivered through courier and other persons will be available to collect physically.

Now we have changed our mind that the other four should be delivered through courier. Can this service still be used through TLS? If yes, how do we go about it? We submitted the application 1st of March.

All passport are delivered to TLS who in turn will courier them for those that paid for the service. You should contact TLS to see if your request can be accommodated. Courier service delivery is entirely a TLS services and not UKVI.

Counting from the first visa when will you clock 5yrs in the UK? Have you left the UK and stay more than 90days?

Did you read that somewhere or just personal view?

The general rule is that the earliest you can submit your application for FLR or ILR must be 28 days before the date your current visa expire. Your date start counting the first day you set foot into the UK and not necessarily the date on the visa sticker. So for example, if you arrived in UK on your settlement visa on 17th June 2015, you can apply on 17th December 2017 (30-month anniversary), minus 28 days which will be 19th November 2017. So that's the first day you can book your premium service centre appointment for (for same-day service) or send off your application by post. The gap in your dates between your visa stickers is propobably due to the fact the UKVI are counting your residency from the day you set foot into UK soil and not the date on the visa sticker. So just use this method to calculate if you are due for ILR to remain. Nevertheless you do not need to worry, just count form the date you arrived into UK till now and see if you’re qualified to apply for ILR. Hope this help.
