Hello everyone, my mom was refused her visa because of insufficient balance. my cousin is suppose to be her sponsor and he already stated that. he is a citizen there. she stated that she was going to spend two weeks there. the letter stated that she has worked long enough and should have more than that in her account as 380k wont be enough for her stay. in my cousin's letter, he stated that he will take care of all her bills including her flight fare. please guys, what can she do right now?

@ekpotek are you saying embassies do not verify bank statements ? You said no banks have the right to give them applicants account balance so how do they verify it ?

Good evening,
Please i have a bit of an issue. My mum gave birth to me at an early age without my dad so, i grew up bearing my grandparents name [her parents]. She later got married and had 2 kids for her husband [though late now]. So their surname is different from mine.

On my age declaration, it states my grandparents as my parents. Though grandad is late now.

Now i want to apply for visa [for my exam], if i mention my step brothers as my siblings, and redo another age declaration to input my biological mum as my mother;

1. Do i add a letter from my grandma stating she was my legal guardian?

2. I want to add the birth certificates of my siblings and mum. Is that okay? To serve as ties

3. My mum didn't change her name on her official documents after marriage so we kinda bare similar surname. Is this a problem?

4. Who gets to write the introduction letter for me? My mum or grandmum? Or both?

I didn't know its possible to renew an unexpired passport that is not lost or stolen. Can anyone else please confirm this? @justwise

Also, not sure if you can enter the UK with a passport that has an expiry of less than 6 months.

Just a quick question: is it possible to renew a Nigerian passport in London, if the passport is yet to expire?

The reason i would like to renew is because my current passport expires in Jan. 2019 and i intend to visit Nigeria in Oct. 2018 for two weeks. I believe i should be able to enter my home country with a less than 6 months passport but not sure if i can return to the UK with the same passport - there would be roughly 2 months and a few days left when i return. I know i can renew it in Lagos but i don't want to leave it to chance. Things can be very unpredictable back home and i'm only coming home on annual leave, so i really can't afford any delays.

Also, i don't have a british passport yet incase you are wondering. I'm on a spouse visa in the UK which expires in Sept. 2019.

I have to disagree with you on this, if the money in your account has been budgeted for the trip and you used it even before your visa comes out how then can you afford to finance that trip?

Please I made an application for Tier 2 Uk Visa and I was declined based on non inclusion of certificate of sponsorship (COS). At the back of the rejection letter, it was stated that I can put in for an administrative review of the rejection which I have already applied for. I put in for the review because COS is not a requirement for the country I am visiting.

All my documents were scanned initially which I still believe they have on their system, but my passport is currently with me as this was returned to me when the first application was rejected.

I got an email from them this morning; see details below:

Your online application has been received at the UK Decision Making Centre. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer.

If you have made a Settlement application (except for applications lodged in USA and Canada): you must ensure that your UK sponsor has sent all relevant supporting documentation to the UK Decision Making Centre in Sheffield. The documents should be arranged in this order: application form and relevant Appendix* (See below); English language evidence; relationship documents; maintenance documents; accommodation documents. If documents are not received a decision will be taken on the basis on the information that has been provided.

If you have already had your supporting documents scanned in at the Visa Application Centre, or if you have already sent them in to us, please ignore the request for documents.

Please note that UKVI aims to complete all Visit Visa applications within 15 working days and all Settlement Visa applications within 12 weeks of the application date. If it is not possible to complete your application within this timeframe a member of our team will contact you to explain why.

If you have paid for Priority Service, your application will be placed in front of the queue and assessed ahead of other non-priority visa applications. As indicated in the terms of service, the amount paid for the priority service, as well as the visa fees, is not refundable if the visa application is refused or if the decision is delayed.

We regret that we are unable to respond to enquiries asking about the status of any application. Any status enquiry should be made to the international enquiry service, details of which are on the GOV.UK website. I submitted my application on the 9th of March and sometimes 2 wks ago, I got a mail from Sheffield that my application was not straight forward. pls I how long will I have to wait and most importantly I need the money in my acct, can I use it??. thank you for ur responses.

Thank you for the responses, let me answer your questions now OK.

I was in my previous company for over 5years as an analyst, when I was being employed in my new company which isn't as big as the old one agreed to give me a 3 month probation because of my experience and gave me a specialist position.

I started February, I will complete 3months in first week of May and intend to send my application end of May. I plan to give the eco/ the month of June to decide on my visas.

I do not plan to travel until July, I've not gotten these documents yet from my office, I'm just doing the calculation. But by the time I plan to travel I would've been with my company for 5momths.

Concerning the payslips/bank statements, I want to include December and January at my old employment and February to may, in my new employment.

But I will try and come up with a way to stall my girlfriend but if I'm not able too, I'll just apply. Maybe when she sees rejected on my passport, she will calm down

I understand you and bless you for not ignoring my question, but I'm on a deadline and if I don't travel the time I set, I might as well forget the trip entirely. So I humbly ask you, is it possible I include my previous company bank statement, like the first 2months from my old company. Then the other 4months, from my current company?

I plan to travel July if God is on my side, once again thank you.... I have all necessary documents, my girlfriend is inviting me and she's really impatient, I've tried explaining but its a dead end. So what the outcome is, I guess she just wants to see that I tried than assuming I won't get it.
This is my last post concerning this, I'll let you know the outcome though. Fingers crossed

Guys, I am glad to have found this thread on Nairaland. I have surfed through the pages, gathered quite a number of information, actually almost dizzy with the volume of information am taking in. You guys are really doing a wonderful job here.

I intend going to the Uk for a short course in the oil and gas related safety in August. Based on the things I have read here, let me write down some details about my situation that I need your advice on.

1. My present employment commenced in Oct, so it's less than a year.....Does it affect me negatively?
2. I was in my previous company for a period of about 5 years which ended in October last year. Is it going to count?
3. My salary is above 600k per month - after all deductions......Does this suffice for the visa?
4. I have no tax certificate as my previous company defaults in tax payment....Is it necessary to include?
5. My dorm acct has 5000 dollars now, but tuition fee for the course is 2700 pounds ..... Should I pay for the course before applying?
6. Savings acct has only 2.5M naira, Salary Acct has only 1M naira at this present time, all accounts are in same bank. Have other accounts but want to keep it simple for any explanation as I want my source of income to be only salary. Is this enough?
7. Will visit a relation who is resident and works in the UK, so trip will be 4 days course plus 5 days visit. Should I include the visit in my application and collect letter of invitation?
8. No previous travel history. I already read that this does not matter, hope am right.
9. Married with children.....What kind of proof should I include?
10. Own my own house...Do I need to present evidence and what kind of evidence should I present for this.

I will like to report my steps here as I progress and will appreciate every piece of info that will help me, the course is for August and I hope am not late yet in starting this process.

I ask because I saw somewhere that it should be 3 months before the intented date of travel.

In applying for a 2years Visit Visa, having had (2)6 months visas,which expired in March. My intending travel date is between ending of July/beginning of August. Does my sponsor,also the person inviting me, show some CERTAIN substantial amount in his account right now.

"Thank you for applying for a UK visa. Your visa application has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service), and settlement applications within 60 working days.

Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.

We will write to you again if there is any change to this. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been advised that your application has been decided and that your passport is ready for collection"

Considering my graduation is actually the main reason I’m applying for this visa. Is it impossible to use just my graduation invite letter. I’m worried that I might be rejected because my graduation is in July and I’m planning to travel in May. That’s why I was considering getting an invite letter from my friend aswell to submit alongside my graduation invite letter. But do you think
Just the graduation invitation would suffice please?

No I’m not travelling with anybody. My dad and siblings would be coming much later.
