Hello Justwise and everybody.
I recently applied for a Tier 2 visa and 2 things have been bothering me;
1. I forgot to include my photocopies old Passport with valid UK visa and visa pages and stamp pages. Though I put all the details correctly on the online form. I don’t know if not submitting the photocopies would affect the decision.
2. I left England on the 17th of February and got to Nigeria 18th February. Submitted my online visa application on 17th February and paid the same day. Would it be termed as being dishonest as I landed in Nigeria the following day? (Seeing as we have to input all our trips on the online application form).
Thank you.
1. Very unlikely, if your old passport has a valid UK visa. Then they already have copies of all the pages from your previous application.

2. No. You exit from the UK is registered as soon as you pass the Security point at the airport. So nothing to worry. You online application is deemed completed on the day you do biometric and submit documents.

Thanks so much for this response. The truth is that I actually wanted to use the opportunity to write a USA professional exam and UK is one of the nearest centers I can write the exam. Will check up the tourist options.
If that is the main reason. Then apply as such, with the necessary documents.

Good morning @justwise and other guru in the house. Please I have a situation and I need your advice

My best friend will be graduating in July (PhD program) from Nottingham University and wants to invite me for the graduation ceremony. Here is my situation :

1. I work with state Govt and earn a little bit above 100k but as at the time of typing this (less than 6 months to the time) I have zero naira in account balance
2. I have an unregistered business in Nigeria with my graduating friend but I run the business and the money is paid into his Nigeria account. He transfers my own share into my account at the end of each month which is usually between 100-350k
3. I will be hosting students in Nigeria for an online course by a top USA university from April to June (people already signed up) and over 1million is expected to be deposited into my account by students (100 students) within 10 days out of which 400k will be mine after paying the school the course fees.
4.I was denied USA visitor's visa in August last year and I spent 3 weeks in East African countries of Kenya Uganda and Rwanda in November last year.
5. I'm married with kids but will be traveling alone and intend to spend 5 days. I will be responsible for the flight and other expenses but will be staying with him and his family during my visit.
6. I plan to have between 1-1.2million in my account when applying for visa

Questions
1. Will there not be a problem with visa considering that my opening balance is poor?
2. Is the monthly transfer from same friend into my account not pose a problem for me? (He has suggested to start sending the money to my wife account and from my wife to me)
3 Will deposit of over 1 million by 100 people within 1 week not pose a problem during the visa application?
4 will denial by USA have effect on the outcome of my visa?

Your response will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Only the ECO can authoritatively answer you questions. However, the ECO will be worried why you are preparing to spend money to attend a friend graduation when you are neither related expect as a business partner. If I where you, I would rather apply on my own merit as a tourist and see how it goes without bringing in your graduating friend.

Good evening @justwise @ekpotek and everyone

As proof of employment, must I submit my employment offer letter given at start of job ?

Or

Will letter of introduction from my employer detailing my position, income, duration of job and leave suffice? Together with payslips and bank statement

Also, I traveled to the UK in 2011 on a student's visa, at the POE, I wrote my uncles address as the place I was staying. We were not asked where we'll stay on the tier 4 visa form, we just needed to show we have enough money for Maintenance.
Do I need to put my uncle as part of relatives in the UK? though on the GOVUK site, the only options are for immediate family such as parents and siblings.

I'm booking a hotel for the trip.

Thank you very much.
Proof of employment is a letter of introduction from your company and 6 months payslips. Yes include your uncle name as someone you know in the UK.

@justwise @ekpotek and any other person that can help.

Pls I need some advice in filling the confusing part of savings in the accessuk online application.

I have about £4000 saved over time from my salary income. It's in the same account where my salary is paid monthly. Do I declare it as savings? I know someone who was recently refused on account of this issue.

The person had some unspent money in her salary current account. But put in the application that she had no savings. One of the reasons she was refused was that she didn't declare any savings.
.

Saving does not necessarily means unspent fund in a bank. Savings could also means fund that are avaliable to you such as stocks, fixed deposits, etc. If there a unspent fund in your salary account, this does not equate to savings. Your saved fund should be in your saving bank account and must be consistent over the past 6 months.

Thanks for your response, please I just need to know the country that would be easier for me to apply. Then how much balance must I have in my account before attempting? Thank you sir.
Choose which ever schengen country you prefer. They all have the same directive to treat family member of union citizen as follows:

1. No payment of visa fee
2. The visa must be issued in an accelerated manner
3. Applicant are not require to submit bank statement, letter of introduction, pay slips, flight reservation or hotel booking
4. Applicant only need to submit union citizen passport data page and marriage certificate or evidence of relationship
5. If the application is refuse it must be on the ground of public health or safety.
6. Applicant has the right to appeal any refusal

So you do not need any bank balance. I will suggest that you download a typical Schengen C visa application form and go through it. Whatever you do not understand ask me. Cheers.

It does not matter. So long as your did not abuse your UK visa term. You can apply to Ireland. Just update your documents and follow the guidelines provided by @dotnamename. Just bear in mind that it take a minimum of 8 week of processing. So the earlier you submit your application the better.

Hello everyone.i have been following this thread for a long time tho I never posted.i will like to give back to this wonderful forum cos reading through the pages helped me.So I recently applied for a standard visitor visa and it was granted.i have been travelling to the UK in the last 18 years.i started out with a 6 months visa, then got a 2 years visitor visa twice and went on to 5 years visa.my 5 years visa recently expired so i decided to apply for a 10 year visa which was very expensive but I thought it's worth it if u can afford it and u get it. Here is my timeline:
Submitted at tls ikeja Feb 7,
Transferred to ukvi Feb 8,
Decision made email Feb 16
Collection email Feb 16.

One thing I learnt from my experience is that it is important to keep your application simple and honest.it is also important to have a very good travel history and don't abuse your visa.i have never stayed more than 3 weeks on holiday all thru my 5 years visa.3 weeks was the highest i ever stayed..there were many times I stayed 10 days and sometimes 3 days.

When I submitted I didn't have any payslips cos my company didn't give payslips so what I did was I had to get a letter from my office to introduce me and to state how long my annual leave will be for and also to state my salary.by the way my salary was about 105k naira not a lot really and it was never regurlaly paid.i submitted my personal bank statement with a balance of about 750k and also my salary account with zero balance just showing my salary deposits even though they were not regularly paid.
I didn't have any property so i didn't submit any evidence of one.i submitted letter of invitation, sponsors British passport biodata page and a proof of address from sponsor in form of an electric bill.
Those were all I submitted.infact when i remember when I went to submit at tls ikeja I felt intimidated cos there were people with loads of documents and i didnt have much to submit but alas,my 10 years standard visitor visa was granted.pls keep it simple,be honest and don't abuse the terms of your visa and try to make short trips..thanks justwise and ektokpe and all the contributors thanks for your selfless service.
Congratulations!!! I tap into your testimony. You have just given a valuable advise to all applicants out there. I have nothing to add, enjoy your trips to the UK until 2028!! However, you tried oh, because the cost of 10 years visa must be more than your monthly salary!!

I am not planning to go and stay there, I just want to visit and come back home. So i was thinking that getting an Irish visa would be easier for me than renewing my UK visa based on our current situation(accommodation/Tax), pending when he is able to sort himself finally. Which Schenghen country do you suggest we try out?
Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Spain or any Schengen country you like. All you need is your marriage certificate. a couple of wedding photos, and copy of his Irish passport data page. Reason for travel is family member of Eu Citizen (spouse), exercising directive (Article 5.1 and 5.2 ofDirective2004/38/EC). You Do not need submit flight tickets or hotel booking or bank statement with the application.

Hello house, Please i need help with my visa application.
Last year i attempted the USA visa and i was denied.
I have been to the UK a couple of times before, my last visit was in December 2013.

I got married in July 2014, I've been trying to travel ever since to no avail, partly out of fear.
My husband is an Irish citizen but moved over to London in 2015, so he didn't get to file for me
in Ireland before relocating to London. Our major issue now is that he is still based in London, we
don't know what Brexit would mean for people like him, he is sub-letting an apartment so there's
no proof of tenancy, he also has tax issues that he is handling. He visits Nigeria at least twice yearly.

I want to try again this year but i am thinking of applying for an Irish visa so hubby and i would meet up there
and then we spend some time together before I return back to Nigeria. My question is do i stand any chance?
I earn over 200k, I have been working for over 5yrs in the same company. Please i need help, @ekpotek,@dotcomnamename
Thank you.
@fpeter. Sorry for your ordeals. You may not be able to get a visit visa to Ireland and UK and Ireland shares immigration data. Since your Irish hubby is not staying in ireland at the moment, it also be difficult to get an Irish visa to join him. The best bet to aim for a Schengen country an you can use your husband Eu free movement to meet him there. He does not need to be a resident in the Schengen country of your choice.

Sorry that I am asking too much questions. It is all about being anxious.
All emails wether from TLS or UKIV are generic. There is no way you can decode if a visa is granted or not. Until you collect your passport any suggestion to the contrary is mere speculation.

I think in such emergency you will need to contact irish embassy in Abuja for advice. This is because normal visa application timeline is about 8 weeks. This is after you must have filled the online form, print it out and visit the VAC at Lekki to submit documentation and biometric. So if you need to travel urgently, get in touch with embassy.

No. Unless you need to use the house as evidence of social and economic ties to Nigeria.

@ekpotek
1. Applicant bank account are relevant to their application, if they are the sponsor or not, unless the applicant is under age or a dependant.

2. Sponsorship or no sponsorship. Applications are considered base on the applicant current circumstances in Nigeria (social, financial, and family) ties to Nigeria

3. Your age may or not matter depending on how the ECO view you intentions. You could be younger or older and still get a visa if you can satisfy the ECO that you will return back after your visit.

4. The reasons as proposed by you here, is enough ground for a refusal. Cos there is no compelling reasons for the visit. Beside, how do you justify visiting your friend mother who is not your family member or related to you or having a business dealing with.

Please what should I do? My Application just got to Sheffield on Friday and I was planning to contact them about it. I need your advise please.

Do they verify applications at Sheffield, UK or verification used to be done at Embassy at Lagos/Abuja ?

I have over N8,000,000 in my account. Last 6 months Statement of Account from s good source and backup bank letter, a letter from my company are all included.

Please I need your advise.

Just follow the prompt and register to either submit at Abuja, Ikeja or VI. If you want to pay for any added value services, you will be able to pay plus visa fee. The last is to print your form if you so wish. Then go to TLS website and create an account to book appointment to submit.

Thank you once more ekpotek. Im sorry about the first denial, but please was ur circumstances like my first application or this new one Im trying to make. And also what did u do differently the next time that made a difference....Also I ve spent 60k this month. Though I didnt need most all those money of withdrew. Yes I stay with my parents and dont pay for feeding for a while now. Only use to 20k for few things in the house...

Also is there a problem with an opening balance of 570k??
My next UK visa application was 4 years later after my first refusal! What made the difference is I did not to give the ECO any reason to deny my visa. This simply means that I supported every statement with verifiable documents. So you must provide document to back up any claim you make in your application form or detail explaination where there is no document. Your opening balance or closing balance may still be an issue unless you can convince the ECO that you’ve a very good saving culture! Note the ECO had already cast a doubt on your bank statement. Rest assured the ECO will certainly refer to your last refusal to see if you have address the issue raised.

Bless you Sir.l, this is the most objective review I got si far. Pls I intend to re apply again by March 2nd.
This time my opening balance will be 570k and closing might be around 1.2 after paying for priority Visa from my account...
Is there a problem with this. Also bank statement will run from sept 4 to march 1st. Hope no issue as it falls 3 days short of 6months..
Thank you for appreciating my analysis. This analysis is from my own experience as I did just what you did for my first UK visa application to attend a conference and I was refused.

The main issue here is that you need to explain in your next application with a cover note how you’ve been able to survive on a monthly spending of N20K. This is the key to getting the visa. If truly you are living with your parent and not contributing to rent and feeding. You will need a supporting letter from your parent stating that you’re living with them and why! The letter must be very detail to convince the ECO that you can indeed making this savings. You will also need to point out that all inflow into your bank account was your monthly salary which you have not spent and why, bringing your opening balance to N510K. You also need to tell the ECO that you are actually saving for this exam and you need to finance your trip with minimal contribution from your parent etc. Good luck.

Good evening. My sincere Regard to Epotek and Justice and the rest of our mentors on this page. I have been following this page since 3years ago silently. However I just recently applied for plab 2 Visa and was denied. I just attached the refusal letter. I really need you guys help.

I stated that i have been working since Oct 2016, had a salary of 210k monthly, attached paylips. had an opening balance 210,000 and closing account balance of 1.3M

ECO wrongly stated I had unexplained large deposits in my account which was untrue, he saw my salary which was 210k and called it unexplained deposit.

Also I was only withdrawing 20k monthly throughout this 6months period and I stated I live with my parents and have no dependants but then the ECO used these against me in the second paragraph for reasons for refusal.
However for this month I withdrawn 20k twice, sent out 10k and 12k, paid for gotv 2k, recharged my phone in multiples of 2k, 1k, 500 naira 4 times. Since the EcO claimed the money isnt mine.

The Golden question is this please. What next exactly do I do? Please family guide me as I just confuse totally
To answer your golden question. Postpone your examination if possible to next 6 months. This will allow you bank account to normalize as you resumed your normal spending pattern. The ECO is right as there has been a deliberate compulsory savings to bring the account balance to N1.3M for visa purpose. This does not in any way reflect your normal spending pattern. The question is if you spending pattern in the last 6 months is normal, how come you had a opening balance of N210K since you started working in October 2016. In order words, with an average monthly spending of N20K you should have had a opening balance way beyond N210. The lesson here is that the ECO is not usually carried away by a huge closing balance, but your overall financial sufficiency over time. The other aspect of lack of dependent is secondary as may people have gotten visa without an dependents.

Pls help me with this @justwise @ekpotek @bigbus @everybody pls contribute. God bless you.
going through my other small business account, i made 1,397,450 (6mths) from this, i paid out 407,320k to ple who help me (6mnths), it means i have 990,000k(6mths), i calculated my spending per month as follows:
personal + random money to nieces/nephews
Aug: 60k + 8k (68k)
sept: 62k + 0k (62k)
oct: 37k + 13k (50k)
nov: 80k + 43k (123k)
dec: 46k + 5k (51k)
jan: 101k + 30k (131k)= 485k

990k-485k=505k

now the question a. total amount that you get in a year=will it be the 1,397,450 or the balance of 990k or 485k or 505k
b. what is the total amount you spend each month= how do i get this since my spending varies per month. secondly, will i add the RANDOM money i give to nieces/nephews as part of what i spend?
c. are there people who need you for financial support.... should i list these my nieces/nephews names? or i should tick NO since it is just a RANDOM thing or YES, and explain that it is a one off thing.

MY CIRCUMSTANCE:
I am single and i live with my parent, i earn 230k/mth from a regular job. i plan to spend 443k in UK for 5days. closing balance as at this evening in my small business account is 25k while salary account is 1.2m (i dont spend often).
thank you.
Your main sources of fund is your salary. So for (a) just state what your salary is for years. You side business does not count here. (b) Provide the average amount you spend from your salary each month. (c). If you do not suppport anyone from your salary then this question will be N/A. In your cover letter, you can disclose to the ECO that you have a side business with you use for miscellaneous expenditure allowing you to be able to save as much as the 1.2M. Beside you are staying with your parent and therefore not paying rent or feeding.

Pls Justwise and Ekpotek, help me review my application to know if I stand a chance.

Cost of trip for 6 days.
Flight-£ 540

Accommodation - £37 (I booked a hostel for 2 days for a day before and a day of my exam). I will be staying with an uncle for 3 days prior to the exam...making final preparation for the exam . He stays in London, while the exam is in Manchester. He will provide me with
relevant documents.

Feeding/living expenses- £120

Transport/miscellanous- £100 (bus to Manchester is £40 for a return trip)

Total- £797 approx £800

Pls how realistic is this?

Also I earn N140k per month, though on some months I earn bonuses which takes my net salary to N200k. I spend about N50k per month and save BTW N95- N100k per month. I have managed to save about N2m in my account.

As it stands, the cost of my proposed trip is almost 3x my monthly salary and 4x my net salary.

The trip is not for leisure though, it's for an important exam that will help my career progression. I'm married with 2 kids. I'm also submitting documents from my husband to prove he is working and catering majorly for our family, while I save most of my salary.

Pls how feasible is this application? Should I look for a financial sponsor? Pls help.

And what can I do to improve my chances.
Thank you!
The breakdown is fine. If you should need any financial support let it come from your husband. So providing your husband bank statement is good. I would suggest that you deemphasize staying with your uncle in the application as this may be considered by the ECO as lack of sufficient fund. Just mention that you have an uncle which you intent to visit after your exams.
