Sweetlemon: Seriously some guys really, really need to learn how to take no for an answer. It's not every girl you toast that will be receptive. Everyone has a right to choose who they let into their lives and you guys should start respecting that fact.
Mtcheeeeeew, later they'll start saying "pretty girls are too proud, pretty girls are this, that" but when they get the girl too easily, they say "pretty girls are hos" nonsense! angry
So if I toast you Sweetlemon, how will you respond?

Hmm. I figured since this forum is pretty much anonymous and there is only one NLer I know in real life, there is no risk. But perhaps you are correct. I'll follow your suggestion.

gboss4sure: What if the chick is on NL reading this nw?
Well I've said nothing here I should be ashamed about.

The odds of her being on NL are pretty low though.

And if she is reading this now, then all I have to say is "wut up?" cheesy

PoliticsRe: Discussion / What Is Your Perception Of Democracy In Africa? by ektbear: 5:24am On Nov 25, 2012
Sybellah: 1-The most decent political system out there, necessary to be rightfully applied for political, social and economic stability?

2-One of the worst import we ever had after colonialism? If yes what would be the best political system to apply?

3- You are Indecisive! The good and the bad coming from its application cancel out! so leave it as it is?

Please justify your choice!
Hmm. I can't speak about democracy in general in Africa. But in Nigeria, it fails at a national level for:

a) ethnic reasons (Nigeria is too diverse for democracy)
b) financial reasons (win national elections and you get to spend oil money)

On a state level, I'm also not really sure democracy is working. People just buy/sell votes and stuff ballots. Governors spend heavily from state funds to get re-elected.

Despite these flaws, I would recommend keeping democracy. Primarily because I don't know of a better alternative.
PoliticsRe: Aregbesola Delivering Sermon In A Chapel, In Osun (pix) by ektbear: 5:15am On Nov 25, 2012
dayokanu: Aregbesola is from Ilesha which might be almost 70% Christian

A lot of Moslem leaders in Yoruba land went to Missionary schools and can sing xtian songs and even quote the bible.

I remembered when some Moslem fanatics wanted to cause problems in Oyo state. Lam Adeshina a Moslem governor told them to go and sit down somewhere that he too went to a Missionary school
I didn't know Ilesha was Christian like this. Then again, the only two NLers I know from there (Seun and kodewrita) both come from Christian families.

I don't understand the point of this.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what religious tolerance means in Yorubaland.

In my mind, religious tolerance means I don't inhibit you from freely practicing your beliefs.

But it doesn't mean cheap stunts like me going to preach in a mosque or something.

That just seems very strange. How can you be preaching at a church when you don't believe in the message the church is built upon?

Music/RadioRe: P-Square: Kings Of Copy, Sampling And Overlifting by ektbear: 4:56am On Nov 25, 2012
They are notorious copycats.

But...despite this, their music is really popular. Not just in Nigeria, but in Africa more generally.

At the end of the day, results are all that matter.

And they are delivering results.
CareerRe: Great Job At A Company With An "Uncool" Brand? by ektbear(op):
I had a conversation about this with my mom and some other family members.

And realized that basically I was being a little bit of a b1tch about things.

Who on earth complains about getting a first job that pays a good salary?

Also, driving into a major city last night for an event, I saw a very big billboard for this company. I'm probably just underrating their prestige a bit.

Long story short, there are more important things I should be worrying about in life.

It is what it is. I don't meet girls who look like her every day. Better to try and fail than not to try at all, imo.

@ Flygeriansteve: The market price for my manliness is more than N1500 grin

Supposedly in Asia they eat bull testicles to gain strength and vigor.

The testicles of an ekt_bear should retail for at least $15,000...na strong juju you can make with that
CultureRe: Loyalty In Relationships: Are Black Women Too Loyal To Black Men by ektbear: 4:22am On Nov 25, 2012
Black women for the most part are ride or die chicks.

You can be wanted for murder and they won't abandon you.

This is one thing I love about them...extremely loyal.

Damn that was brutal.

And oh yeah, like others have stated, this lone act of a deranged man obviously reflected poorly on all Yoruba. Including those like myself thousands of miles away from him.

In fact, I apologize on behalf of my people for this man, since we are responsible for his actions
