shymexx: I read an article on CNN yesterday by a Nigerian freelance journalist based in Lagos, and he said most Nigerians can't locate America on the map... The overwhelming majority of Nigerians(not the minority of NL) can't...Not too surprising. Many in Nigeria are stark illiterates...will they even know how to use a map? Can an illiterate locate Nigeria on a map sef |
hmm |
Meh. I understand the "general knowledge" argument. But honestly, people aren't motivated to pay any attention or remember things that don't affect their lives in any way. If she hasn't met Africans before, then it really isn't valuable for her to know where Nigeria is, etc. |
God, I miss the 90s. Such a wonderful time to grow up. |
Roflmao! ![]() Man, taking it to the 90s.. |
The dude is a billionaire. Who can blame her for converting, if she did so? ![]() Money sweet o ![]() |
such a misleading title... |
ceejay80s: na for moon u dey live? Nepa pole no dey infront of ur house, how can u say that u are not awareNot the moon. Just quite far away from Nigeria. |
It'd suck to be the guy arguing in favor of amalgamation. |
Tolaaaaannni: Just because he agreed with him during this debate doesn't exactly mean that, that is his permanent position. KnowingThe flip-flopping stuff I think is meant to appeal to the Republican base, not his core conviction. My instinct is that Romney is basically the same guy he was before 2004 or so...basically a moderate. |
This is one of those elections that the outcome won't matter too much in the end. Romney really agrees basically 90% with Obama...I suspect he'd continue many of his policies. So while I am happy that Obama did well and am certainly rooting for him to win, I actually don't think the alternative (Romney) is that bad. |
semid4lyfe: Nairaland is so pro-Obama so I "comment my reserve" until I watch the debateWell, it isn't very PC of me to say this, but what else can you expect from a website that is nearly 100% black ![]() |
shymexx: I know but he won there as a governor..Well, Northeast Republicans are almost Democrats. You can win many liberal states running as a pro-choice, almost leftist Republican. But that is different trying to win such a state as a fiscally and socially conservative Republican presidential candidate. |
shymexx: The Kennedy family don't really have MA on the chokehold like they used to, Romney got MA on lock!!pass the ganja you've been smoking...as others have said, MA has been a democratic state for a long time now |
birdman: By the way, some states, like Cali can legally ignore prenups.I wasn't aware of that, lol. Hmm...I'll make sure to get married in a state that respects them. |
That Solyndra thing was pretty bad though. |
pazienza: The fact that awoists like ekt bear, shymmex and co are in support of okija juju says a lot.Err. I don't like or support Ojika Juju at all. Of the people nominated, Eziachi is the one I like the most. Followed by Odumchi. In any case, who I like or support is irrelevant, since I don't have a "vote" in this election. This is not about individuals, but about processes. I say what I say out of principle, not sentiment. |
Na wa for these folks. Somebody points out their high-handed behavior, and all of a sudden it is time for them to go to bed and sign out. Anyway, run your election however you like. However, my humble suggestion is that by making the election as broad-based as possible, you strengthen the process and give people more confidence in the results. @PointB: If you are truly a democrat and truly believe in the voice of the people, you will not let your voice drown out those 10-15 individuals who nominated Okija Juju. @Onlytruth: If you are truly a democrat and truly believe in the voice of the people, you will not use cheap tactics like branding competitors you don't like non-Igbo, or calling them Alj Harem ![]() |
PointB: Point is that, the process in still in infancy. It's not like everyone can easily volunteer to do this for a week or two non-stop. Paucity of personnel, time and other factors are of primary concern, as such there are bound to be some flaws. Besides, we already have an Eze and his cabinet, and they are responsible for formulation of policies. So, in other words, you get to decide who is qualified to run because nobody else has time? Can't the same process you use to run the election be used to determine who Igbos on NL deem qualified? Let me ask, how many people did Fashola consult before churning out some of his policies, and is everyone happy?Fashola ran for and won elective office, did he not? Who voted you in last year when you did this? Or this time around? And why do you (and others) think this is targeted at Okija_juju, how about Chino or perhaps Rossik and others like them? Point is, the Eze Ndi Igbo is the custodian of Igbo culture, etc in here. And this is the line he decide to toe. There is no way we can conduct an election on a faceless forum without making basic attempts to filter bad influence. And yes, not every one will agree to the rules, but majority are. And that good enough for us.At the text in the red, can you please show me where this majority agreed to the rules you arbitrarily came up with? |
By "a lot of Igbos", you mean you by yourself? Anyway, a lot of Igbos no doubt believe stvpid things. You for example believed that shymexx (posting under the name hypeman) is the same person as Okija Juju, who is the same person as coogar. Despite these three individuals having radically different posting styles, positions on different issues, etc. Should someone be disqualified based upon what a few stvpid folk believe? |
Perhaps your eyes are not functioning properly these days...you should scroll up to shortly after your post and find the answer. |
PointB: No one is afraid of Okija_juju. His disqualification is simply a formal way of letting him know that there are certain behavior expected of those who aspires to lead us. Whether he has a chance or not, does not come into the equation. Even if he had one vote, any one who contravenes the rule will be disqualified. It is purely symbolic, not tactical nor strategic. The issue is, who is the one determining this behavior? It is certainly not the people who have chosen to DQ him beforehand, is it? No, it is you and your clique. Why not let the people decide what the qualifications for candidacy are or should be? |
what is so funny...i must have missed the joke |
The hilarious thing about all of this to me is that there is basically zero reason to disqualify Okija Juju...he doesn't have much of a chance of winning anyway. He seems to be popular among a subset of Igbos. But he has been very politically incorrect with respect to his views on Ojukwu, Imo and certain other Eastern states, etc. Contrary to the insinuation of some, he is also not particularly popular among those from my side of the country, since he insults us in many of his posts. Unless the other candidates are grossly incompetent, then they shouldn't have a difficult time defeating him..the only thing he has in his favor is being slightly more charismatic than some of the other candidates. So, why does this clique fear Ojika Juju so much? |
YuckMouf: Them Igbos dont want beef!!!!!Out of curiosity, how do you know that your great, great grandfather wasn't Igbo? I could even see if African Americans and Africans were separated by say thousands of years of history. But a mere few generations? What you are doing makes about as much sense as one of my descendants 200 years from now insulting Yoruba people. |
Akin_egba is an alias of your brother Nchara, an Igbo from Abia. Who is Okija Juju a dummy account for? |
Ultimately, their community should be allowed to choose its leadership w/o interference. So the words of folks like myself, cougar, shymexx, etc don't count for very much. Yet it seems curious that a certain clique of individuals are able to pre-select the candidates, and even determine who is Igbo or not. Perhaps Okija Juju would do well to kiss the @sses of this clique over the next few months, so that when next year rolls around they will give him a certificate verifying his Igboness ![]() Clearly the voice of the people is less important than that of power-drunk, unaccountable and self-selected kingmakers like PointB. |
PointB clearly has gone mad with power ![]() |
He should have just left it at Chicago. |
lwkmd, this thread is funny ![]() |
Interesting. I wasn't aware of this. |
tl;dr can someone provide a summary |
