Dragonking: The oxygen boys are nothing but noise makers..let them release result then rally upwards and not all these gboju gboju games..
Up till now we have not heard any good reason why there was no rally when COP deal was consummated. Is it that there is no logical reason for it or some manipulations have been taking place? These things happen with other stocks (even the release of a fantastic result), why is Oando´s own different? Investors will soon start to apply spiritual analysis as an additional tool in analyzing Oando.

myjoy08: Hello my good family of Nairaland, i hope everyone is coping with the conditions of the market presently...lol. Just want to ask if anyone would be surprised if Oando declare a reasonable dividend having seen what they have gone through for some months, years due to the acquisition of COP deal? Plz am just asking not a recommendation to buy or sell. I still stand on the fact that any investment made in Oando presently can never go wrong. I hope someone is taken a some look at Agriculture sector and insurance sector? Good Luck
NB: The result is not yet out but am just asking the questions, Plz!
Oando needs to retain earnings. Dem need money pass us the shareholders. However, being a stubborn and aggressive coy, I won´t be surprised if they decide to pay dividend because they have done it before.

Dexterax: We should be coasting at US$ 120 per barrel and above if the militants get to the oil-rich southern part of Iraq. Bullish for oil-producing companies (esp if the general Asian energy demand remains constant, especially India and China), bearish for oil refinery stocks (due to high crude prices and accompanying low margins), bullish for palm oil plantation companies (I'd rather not go further here), etc.

Yem0350: If there were no bids / offers on all the stock, the problem might b frm d exchange. If it is on few stocks, it shows it is tru, although, orders may stil b executed tru cross trading. Morgan is directly connected to the exchange.
Not on all stocks. Although cross trade is possible I don't think that's the case in every of such situation. Someone complained recently about the same thing on Oando's shares. It happens with other shares too. Perhaps the problem is from NSE feed as suggested by Passwelle. If you check and there are no offer/bid displayed, call a broker who is on the trading floor and you will be surprised to hear a different story. That was what I did to today before placing my order with Meristem.

Yem0350: I gues u dnt understand ao is really works. I executed eight trades this morning and everytin went tru within a second.
My quest is, ao long av u b experiencing dat?
For some days now. Like someone recently complained, have you observed that sometimes there are no bids and offers sizes when you double-click on a stock? What could be the reason for this?

Comsol: Just wondering why you should fill order form when you could go straight to the real-time section and place your order directly to the exchange. That's what I do most times, I never follow up with any call and my orders are executed within few minutes. I only fill the order form when the market is close and probably wouldn't be around during trading hours.
If there are no offers/bids, can you trade in the real-time section? Filling the order form is an alternative way to place your order which should be automated for a firm with an online platform. This is what I find funny.

Comsol: Second to none atleast for now. smiley
Not true bro.

Yem0350: The iTrade execution doesn't take upto a second.
Oga Yem0350, sometimes when you double-click on a stock you wish to trade on, you don't find bids/offers. Why? Morgan really need to work on their iTrade platform. I was unable to trade a stock this morning because there was no offer/bid displayed when I double-clicked on the stock. I had to place the order with Meristem and it got executed within a sec. If you fill the Buy/Sell order form, nothing happens except you follow up with a call. I don't understand why a client must place a follow up call before Morgan can execute an order. It is supposed to be an automated process. Sometimes, even if you do a follow up, orders still don't get executed. This does not happen with Meritrade. I really don't know what else to say. I have now resorted to using Morgan iTrade to know the current prices of stocks and placing my orders with Meritrade. What an inconvenient way to trade, thanks to Morgan Capital. I really don't know what is so fantastic about Morgan iTrade. It needs to be worked on.

mamathrice: Please help me. I don't know what to do. I have asked that my account with BGL be closed and they transfer my stock to my new brokers. My new broker sent them an inter-member transfer form to sign almost one month ago. BGL has refused to sign it. BGL has refused to pay me back the balance of my cash account. My (former) account officer told me that I have to sell my shares and use the money to buy again from Greenwich. That means I will lose money when I sell, and probably lose more when I buy if the prices go up. I told them that they should transfer my stock.
Now my (former) account officer in BGL is not taking my calls. I have written them, I have gone to their office. Please what do I do?
Agbalowomeri: Just write SEC na, and inform them that that is your next action; if they are still adamant, write SEC

Chibuking81: Any idea of what makes Oando stagnant, since after the completion announcement of Cop deal. Is it a good idea to buy some now?
You may be able to get it around N20 in 3 weeks time. Too many strange things happening on this stock. Due diligence is highly advised. I am waiting to buy @N20.

It depends on your bank and the time of the day at which your transfer was done. I once did an inter-bank transfer in the morning hours to Morgan and got my trading account credited same day. However, you will need to follow up with an email or a phone call.

Aks: I'm seeing your comment for the 1st time and i don't think your opener is on point. I want to tell you categorically that the thread is not derailed in any way. Oando is the toast of discussion through out the whole world as regards stock/investment news (Print, Media, online etal). I'll advise you to endure, other news will join the fray hopefully by next week and btw, you can kickstart other discussion/info

But the money will be credited to your account. So the perpetrator cannot benefit from the act. But pray make the person no vex place a buy order of 1 million unit of Ftncocoa, 2 million units of Tantalizer, 5 million units of Daarcomm, etc grin

I have never tried to access the list of stocks in both accounts so I don't know if selling will be possible. I noticed this in the life trading section and I've always logged out immediately (with fear) because I no fit shout.

Sometimes you don't even get updates on the Open, Low and High of some traded stocks. The platform needs some upgrades.

stokfrick: something is happening in oando. using itrade terminal wen u refresh, there are no offers yet no bids. and yet its being traded heavily
I think it is the iTrade that is showing that magic. That thing may not be 100% mirroring the exact trades (in terms of bid/offer) that are taking place on the floor. Maybe cross-trade can be another reason but I'm sure it's a problem with the iTrade platform.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Elai147: 1:45pm On Aug 01, 2014
SKYQUEST: Dear all, somebody should kindly explain the meaning of the two statements below to me: ''we would recommend that you go for short at current market price (CMP) of N49 for the target of N46 and N44 with stop-loss of N52'' and ''we would recommend for traders and investors to go for long at N 1.13 and book profit at N1.25 and N1.33; with the stop-loss of N1.05.''
I am not sure if 'short' is practiced in Nigeria. But going short actually means you are borrowing the stock from your broker and selling it immediate with the hope that it will fall in price and then you can buy back the same share at a cheaper price and give it back to your broker.

we would recommend that you go for short at current market price (CMP) of N49 for the target of N46 and N44
This means you borrow at N49 and sell immediately and then wait until the stock falls to around N46 - N44 and then buy it back (you must have made some profit at this time) and return it to your broker. placing a stop-loss of N52 means that in case the trade moves against your plan, your broker should sell if the stock gets to N52 instead of falling as you envisaged (this will limit your loss).

we would recommend for traders and investors to go for long at N 1.13 and book profit at N1.25 and N1.33
This is the normal practice of buying @N1.13 and selling around N1.25 - N1.33. Using a stop-loss of N1.05 = just in case the trade go against your plan and fall instead of rising, your broker will sell when the price falls to N1.05.

I hope I didn't miss anything out.

Moneysage: 1. When I discovered this thread, I had to ask myself:"Who is saying the truth? Do these pple actually buy/sell what they proclaim? Can they really disclose some info?..." No one can sure of who in a faceless forum. But pple hear the motherly JIJO of mercilicious, the OKOMU preaching of Dexterax, the ever positive insider info of oga myjoy08 and they conclude these pple are making sense. Now, when they turn to SMN and see melancholy, they start calling pple names (analyst e.t.c). Why would u bliv what anyone is saying...someone u cant see? U read analysis on Oando on SMN and u start thinking negative? Do u know why d person wrote it? Why would u think everyone has the same sincerity on NL and SMN? If myjoy08 appears real, does it mean every other comment u read online are worth considering?
And it is in these same faceless fora that people are classifying Mr A as an elder and advising Mr B to respect and honour Mr A without considering whether Mr A is actually older than Mr B. Another set of people will tell you Mr C is highly knowledgeable in a field they know nothing about and because they are naive, they tend to believe all what Mr C is saying even when Mr C is wrong. Abi na the ones wey dey see who be mediocre and who no be mediocre? SMH
