chrisley024:That's truth. If you can recall, Gaal used to send Jones back straight to the starting line up once fit from an injury, except the last time he went on a long term injury. In Gaal's first season, even Smalling and RVP had to go through under 21 when returning from injury, but Jones was always sent straight to the team (or at worst start from the bench in his first return match). Even Gaal said in March he wished Jones was available because to him Jones is a very good centre back. |
GBR1:Only three players have more pass accuracy than Rooney. Mata just slightly above him. Rooney even had 7/9 accurate long balls. Again Mata had same number of unsuccessful touches as Rooney (4), even though Mata spent less time on the pitch. So why is it that it is only Rooney’s own you saw? My guy the season is just starting, some of these players are still getting match fitness. Only Eric Bailly has been training since June.

lekkie073:Na lie. Valencia's issue caused more wahala than Rooney’s case. In 2013/2014 Valencia was top among players listed here to be sold. Same when Gaal was here. Even when Valencia was our best player in many matches, like when he played superb in the match against CSK Mosque were he was our best player and most attacking threat from right back, majority of the people still said he should be dropped. That he was always crossing the ball instead of mostly drifting inward. This was the man who gave us our equaliser with a pin pointing cross to Martial and had a very high percentage of Successful Crossing. Even during the preason, a guy called Funlord said Valencia was a useless right back and he was happy Mourinho was finally going to buy a Brazilian right back. Nothing I said about Valencia made sense to him. I told him Valencia's qualities far outstripped his weaknesses (poor aerial ability). Whenever he plays, there is always the tendency to push the opposition to their own half in the right side of our game As for Rooney, the season is just starting. He sometimes takes sometime to hit top form if he stays injury free. Even SAF said this during his time. |
chrisley024:The only player I know is blacklisted is Schweinsteiger. Jones is only unlucky because he didn't play from when Mourinho said he began to monitor our matches, that is from December. Once Jones gets a long time to prove himself, he will surely do so convincingly. |
UniqueGem:Leave them. They don't know once the Rooney stuff starts, it will be what will dominate this thread till the end of the season. The reason I no longer frequent here is because it is usually same thing, the attack on Rooney, Valencia and Jones. Unless these players leave the club their mistakes will be mostly marked here and unduly highlighted. |
chrisley024:Is Jones sick or not listed? |
AdisaOwala:What is the evidence that Jones is sick? |
Diademk07:MrTA One of them right here. |
Blind was the one at fault for Bournemouth goal. It was clearly his fault. I don't know why anyone would blame DDG and Shaw for that. Fellaini was solid today. He also completed 75/76 passes. That is almost 99% pass accuracy. He was so much involved and won the highest tackles. |
Eldeedon:Which portion are you talking about? Last week I couldn't drive through that Big Joe portion of the road when going to Benin. Trailers sank in mud and everywhere was blocked. I had to revise to take inside town to Iruekpen. Yesterday, when travelling from Benin, I diverted from Iruekpen via Ujemen via Ihumudumu to Ekpoma road. - Updated: A friend just confirmed to me it has been fixed. I will confirm it when I travel again. |

Mourinho studied United Jose Mourinho has revealed he has been studying Manchester United closely since December in order to pinpoint exactly how the squad needed to be transformed this summer. Mourinho's arrival at Old Trafford has coincided with a busy transfer window for the Red Devils, with world record signing Paul Pogba joining Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The decisive manner United have concluded their transfer business has been in contrast to the tenures of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, which saw deals done on deadline day for three consecutive years with the signings of Marouane Fellaini, Radamel Falcao and Anthony Martial. Mourinho arrived at United with clear instructions on what he wanted - a centre-back, a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a striker and he gave Ed Woodward a list of potential options at each position. The Portuguese believes United's summer transfer business has put them in a great position to succeed this season and praised club's money men for their "magnificent" approach to pushing through the deals. "First of all, I didn't buy them. I don't have enough money to pay that amount," Mourinho said, ahead of Sunday's Premier League opener at Bournemouth, live on Sky Sports 1 HD . "So credit to the club, credit to the potential that the club has, not just financially but also what the club means for the world of football to attract players. "I think I gave a contribution because I was very objective. I think some managers, they have doubts. I don't know the word but they find it difficult to decide, they are almost decided and then you come with another idea. Then the clubs feel that you are not so sure about it. I was very objective from day one. "I was not working since December. I watched Manchester United play many, many times. I had an idea about the squad and when I arrived I was ready to be objective. "This is what I would like to have, decide the numbers for each position. So if you cannot get this one then you have the second, third or fourth. Every time I was making a written report to the board, I think the board could feel consistency in my analysis. "The targets were there on the table, after that was the club power and they were very strong, they were very good and they did everything before August 14. They could have done August 30, but, no, they did it by August 14." While the approach of Mourinho's predecessor Van Gaal to transfers may have been at times chaotic, his style of play was far too structured for Manchester United fans' liking and chants of "attack, attack, attack" became a regular feature of games at Old Trafford last season. Mourinho has been brought in to change that approach but he warned United fans he will always prioritise substance over style and believes winning is what is ultimately important. "I came to England in 2004, and I saw Manchester United as a winning team, not as always an attacking team," he said. "I played sometimes against Manchester United and they were a defensive team. "I played Real Madrid-Manchester United in Madrid and they crossed the midfield line twice with Wayne Rooney played outside-left to defend my right-back. "I saw them always as a winning team with an attacking philosophy, but a winning team. That's the challenge for Manchester United, to try to be a winning team in a new era of the Premier League that is much more difficult than before. "So our job is really difficult but we want to win matches, we want to win competitions, and to win isolated matches you can play bad but to win competitions you need to play well." www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/10533992/jose-mourinho-watched-manchester-united-for-months-to-decide-on-transfers |
Mynd44:That road is currently worse than when GEJ awarded it. Virtually nothing was done. I travel the road often, and it has cut into two at Ekpoma just after Big Joe Motors when coming from Benin. |

All the players in this list are still in their respective clubs since 2014 or earlier. Only Van Gaal sold his own, among the best eleven voted by national team captains and coaches.

Diademk07:You didn't watch Madrid matches as much as I did. After United, the other team I focused interest was Madrid. Van Gaal messed up Chikena! |
Diademk07: Defence is mostly important to attack if it: 1. Can play high on the pitch to help the attack press the opposition in the final third. 2. Wins tackle quickly to reduce the time the opposition have on the ball. 3. Being able to defend aerial balls very fine and doesn't need the forwards to play close to our box to help defend aerial balls as Fellaini have been made to do whenever Blind is in our defence. This is likely my last response to you. You no know ball. |
Diademk07:Even if you go to key pass, Di Maria still wins. Both have 2.2 key passes per match. Both when drilled down to key passes per total minutes played, Di Maria is better than Hazard. Look at the last two charts. The column marked 'Total' represents the number of minutes the player needs to play to make a key pass. You see there Di Maria murdered Hazard again in that stat . For the record, you don't like Hazard more than I do. Good night!

Diademk07:Your essay didn’t change the fact that that Carrick is part of our defensive set up. If the defence behind him is poor, he will spend most time trying to cover up the gaps. If the defence behind him plays close to the goalkeeper, Carrick will spend most of the time in our own third. If the defence is unable to win back possession quickly, then when will Carrick get the ball to pass to the midfielders/wingers? A similar argument occurred in 2011/2012 when a few people thought the run of great results was due to the influence of Cleverley and Anderson combo only, until I showed them we had a smart defence behind them which enabled quick play from our own third. Even when Anderson and Cleverley were being separated we still had great results when Fletcher came on, until Jones and Evans had their own injuries. We had a CB of Jones Evans/Smalling/Ferdinand then Rafael/Smalling in right back and Evra on the left. The movement out of our own third was swift while recovery was superb. We won 8-2, 5-0, 3-0, etc at the beginning of the season. Even SAF had to pull out Ferdinand and Vidic in the Shield where the winning streak started. Then we came from 0-2 to beat City 3-2. A similar thing happened in the first league game of the season. Defence is important to attack. |
Diademk07:We had more games where Jones and Smalling kept clean sheet visavis total appearance together, than any other combination. You also don't understand football. You think winning matches depends only on the forwards. If that is the case, then Carrick cannot be credited for any of our wins because he is part of the defensive set up. |
Diademk07:When it comes to Assists, Hazard is nowhere near Di Maria. Hazard has only done it one league. Di Maria has done it in two leagues. Even when both met in the EPL, Di Maria had more Assists than Hazard despite playing half the time Hazard played. EPL Di Maria 10 Assists 1, 600 minutes Hazard 9 Assists in 3,300 minutes. |
Diademk07:The most important thing is that Smalling and Jones did not lose a game together as CD pairs. What these guys do is that they play close to the centre line, which enables the forward players to concentrate. We might concede to strong opponents but we will eventually outscore them because the forwards worry less about retracting to do defensive duties. They play more in the opposition half and final third. |
Diademk07:I have already mentioned Di Maria missed the semi final and final. But he was Argentina best player in the knockout matches he played, and even the tournament best player at those two stages, closely followed by Arjen Robben who also had great second round and quarter final matches. I think you actually watch football from livescores. Before Di Maria got to PSG, the highest Assist in 2014/2015 season was James Pastore 12 Assists. 2013/2014 Ibrahimovic and Lucas Moura were the highest at 11 Assists. 2012/2013 Ibrahimovic was the highest at 8 Assist. But Di Maria went there and got 18 Assists with the next person in the league far behind. I checked many years back, PSG were not having a player with high Assists. So Kagawa10, look for another excuse. Even Di Maria topped Assist by far in Laliga. You mentioned Hazard, where did Hazard make 18 Assists a season? You no know ball. |
Diademk07:Any team in the world cup is good. Bosnia qualified from Europe where Sweden, Scotland, Wales, etc could not qualify. Iran were better than Argentina in their group match. Argentina were lucky to escape upset and had to get a slim win via a late winner from Messi ingenuity. Yet Argentina played the final match. We didn't look inferior to France and Argentina. They only beat us. We were even better than France in the first half. I doubt if you saw these matches you describe. |
Diademk07:Jones and Smalling had clean sheets and played together well outside the unbeaten run. Carrick was not the only reason we went unbeaten. Carrick and Jones injured same day, and we lost the next match. It was only when Jones returned to pair with Smalling that we regained stability in the last two or three games. Whether we conceded goals vs City and Liverpool was immaterial. At the time these teams were better than us. We lost 0-3, 0-3 at Old Trafford to these teams the previous season. |
Diademk07: 1. Di Maria was not poor against City. You just hate him. Di Maria was the most productive attacking midfielder in Ligue 1 last season with 18 Assists. He made the highest Assist in Ligue1(18 opta Assists. Opta Assists are more difficult because rebounds and deflections are not counted) 2. If Anceloti benched Di Maria, how come he ended up being the fourth most used player in Madrid? I think only Pepe, Benzema and CR7 had more minutes. 3. I saw Argentina matches. Messi was better in group matches. Di Maria was better in knockout matches. Mascherano was consistent in dishing out quality defensive in the holding role. 4. If you still dispute Di Maria is inconsistent, how come again he was the highest Assist provider in Laliga that season? He gave 17 Opta Assists. This was one who mostly played in right side of central midfield in diamond formation. And relied on counter attacks carrying the ball forward from the deep. This is a player you said he was mostly benched by Anceloti, yet he made the highest Assists in the league. Conclusion, Di Maria had the highest Assists in Laliga before he left. He had the highest Assists in Ligue1 just as he arrived. Yet you said he is not consistent. How else do you judge productivity? This is a player who plays far from goal and normally carry the ball over tens of yards. Kagawa10, I wonder how you watch your ball.

Diademk07:Was Yobo the worst defender in the world cup? Di Maria was even most effective in the knockout. |
Diademk07:It was in the papers then that they didn't lose. They were also at the thick of the action when we went on unbeaten run over Spurs, City, etc |
Diademk07:The group had the African Champion. Any team that qualified for the world cup is good. Look at Wales at Euro. Di Maria performance was even in the knockout. |
Diademk07:Without Blind, we won comfortably some games played by Jones and Smalling. In fact Jones and Smalling partnership didn’t lost a game in 2014/2015. In 2015/2016 they were again doing very fine together until injury hit. Even McNair and Rojo combo was okay in the first half of 2014/2015. Forget about Blind's bringing the ball out. He cost us in the defence with his slow speed and lack of aerial ability. |
RAKITIC:Di Maria was easily the best until he got injured. Messi was also superb, same with Mascherano. But Di Maria was their most deadly player. I saw Argentina games. I don't know what you mean he lost possession. Di Maria is not even one to keep possession. Even when he won the MOTM in the UCL final, he still lost possession. But he brings massive threats and tear the defence apart. |
Diademk07:So which team were not poor? To you we are poor because we are Nigeria. Let me remind you we finished in the knockout stage. Lost to Argentina by just a goal margin. Argentina later had to play in the final. |
