I remember Coogar and I having an argument about this Pogba. He said SAF made a mistake to let him go. But I said no. Reason, his game had not properly developed judging from the few matches he played and he was not patient for his time.
Those arguing in favour of Pogba said how did he become a world class immediately he joined Juventus.
Fast forward some years later, Pogba was brought back to United. He is still doing some unnecessary leg overs which slow United attacking play in the EPL. Same reason I said he was not ready in his first time here because his game at the time was misfit to our fast paced direct play. |

patrickmuf: Lingard is a fraud. He has been useless thus far in his role as the link between midfield and attack.
De Gea was also very soft for that goal. It is his weakest point and it harms our overall defensive play. Romero would take that ball like it was a back pass. |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 8:42pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
patrickmuf: Actually, the space Rashford had was because Walker was caught out of position most times as he was somewhere around the midfield rather than RB. You can re-watch the match and compare with how he sets up his team most times to see what I am talking about. It is easier to block from midfield than to block as an attacking fullback. Your tactics get error. You can't know 10% of what Guardiola knows. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 4:43pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
patrickmuf: Walker tucking into midfield is more of arrogance. In his first season, he tried it with Sagna and Clichy/Kolarov and it failed. One of the reason why Shaw could comfortably deal with Bernardo Silva was because we didn't see Walker bombing forward. If Walker maintained his position as RB, his runs forward would've served as a perfect distraction for Shaw when up against B. Silva...
So, yes it's more of arrogance rather than philosophy. All these narrow point of view, na wao. You think if Walker bomb forward that he wouldn't leave some space for Rashford, Martial and co to explore. Our forwards are very fast. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 2:07pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
patrickmuf: Exactly, that man is just arrogant. Walker was playing as a midfielder when an inform Rashford was on the left. That's just disrespectful to Manchester United and arrogance on display. Arrogant or following his philosophy? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 2:06pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
eph12: Pep is very stubborn. Everyone knows this team can hurt you if you give them space while remaining compact at the back. I didn't expect that from him at all. This loss may have just cost him the league Luiz Van Gaal is stubborn Mourinho is stubborn Ole is stubbiorn Now that Guadiola attacking football didnt favour him, he is stubborn. If he won, Guardiola is a role model, he always attack. It is easier said than done. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 1:27pm On Dec 09, 2019 |
eph12: The first 35 minutes was absolute marvelous. The game plan was so evident. The game would have been over if only we were a little bit more clinical when taking shots. Most shots were just direct instead of choosing pockets.
At best, this is the kind of performance this present team can do. They can only exploit spaces left by daring opponents, they can't create their own space. Hopefully the next transfer window or so can take care of that.
I expect Ole to work on AWB to become better when attacking. If we had a striker that's always hovering around the box 18 and playing close to the opponent keeper when we're attacking, James will be having assists every match. He can be delivering those low crosses into the box Corect observation on the shots. Also there was one Lingard shot from a tight angle, if only he raised his head, he would have just put it over the goalkeeper into pne of our player's head to nod it into an empty net . These are the kind of awareness they need adopt. If it were Giggs, that would have been a free Assist. I believe however, that our players are getting used to playing with each other and gaining cohension. Someone like Fred is beginning to express himself with lots of confidence. |

These boys are fantastic against big teams. We could have scored more.
Can we carry this form against small teams. It seems we have a problem playing against teams with players who rely on their physical abilities than skills.

If Mcatom played against Aston Villa (instead of Pereira) we would’ve gotten a better result. And performance. Young also did very well yestersay. His game reading and availability to prevent some dangerous moves came from experience. |
